I love this recipe and use ground pork in mine. We call it deconstructed egg rolls. I also add scallions (just a sprinkling of it).

+Paper Ink And More I bet it's great with ground pork! I've heard it called Egg Roll in a Bowl as well. Either way, it sure is easy and tasty! 😊

Yep, I know it as egg roll in a bowl from the THM plan. I don’t add sweetener.... I prefer my egg rolls savory. Of all the proteins, I think ground pork is the best for this recipe😀

I've been making this for a few years, it's my favorite low carb dish. I really like the flavors when I use fresh minced ginger and garlic, and I use a wok. The wok gets some of the cabbage charred, sort of like when you buy chicken teriyaki from a restaurant and the chicken is charred. it's a real treat. Love all your videos!

I used Sambal, Oelek (Asian section of Trader Joe's/Whole foods or any grocer)- it's a 0 carb ground fresh chili paste. I added 2 Truvia packets along with the rest of your ingredients, some cauliflower rice and green onions. Man oh man!!! Delicious and the cauliflower rice made it even more filling - otherwise I would have eaten the pan. Oh also topped the Caulirice with a bit of soy sauce😊

Just saw you comment over at Keto Connect, which reminded me I wanted to try crack slaw since I saw your vid! So today I finally took to it, used a quarter head of cauliflower, did use Kikkoman's soy sauce (le gasp!), substituted tahin paste for the sesame oil, used sriracha, dialed the ginger down since I'm not a fan, and my sweetener of choice was erythritol.
It was pretty darn good, though not addictingly so (I mean, I'm one of the lost souls who go crazy over ice cream and cheese cake...). Nonetheless, it hits the 'Asian restaurant' flavour pretty much on the head and the macros aren't too bad, either (13.5 g of carbs in that whole recipe I made; though I'm not sure if this equals to net carbs as we Germans don't count 'em that way).
So, thank you for the inspo and keep 'em coming!

i pretty much keep this in the fridge at all times, especially since school closed. my 13 year old loves it and it's an easy , healthy re-heat lunch option. i've been known to use canned chicken breast in a pinch and i've even broken up left over hamburger patties for the beef. i use a lot less meat than shown here though.

Never heard of crack slaw but I’ve been making something similar that I have two to three times a week on my keto diet. I use 5oz’s homemade sausage (ground pork shoulder with sage salt and pepper). 7oz,s chopped cabbage and two tbsp bacon fat. Seasoned with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, a few splashes of cider vinegar and some Saracha sauce. Quick easy, tastes great and very satisfying.

I know this is an older video, but I'm just starting my low(ish) carb journey to help control my blood sugar and just made my way to the High Falutin' Headquarters. Wes, I love, love, love what you've got going on here and thank you for introducing me to this dish. I've made the beef and chicken version. But my absolute favorite is sausage. A local store here grinds and sells their own sausage and it's delicious on its own. I know exactly what goes into it and it's zero carbs. If you try sausage, do be careful when selecting your sausage. Carbs pop up in the most unexpected places so always look! But in the crack slaw, sausage is far and away better than the beef or chicken. I think so anyway. The other thing I do is I stir fry it twice. I cook it like normal, but then throw it in the fridge. I'll even portion it out into individual servings when I'm just making for myself. But then when I'm ready to serve, I throw it back into the pan (I use a wok - doesn't make as big a mess) with a little more oil. I originally did this to just reheat leftovers. But now it's standard operating procedure because it tends to caramelize the cabbage. And that just kicks it up another notch. It's so good that now even my friends and family who aren't eating low carb ask me to make it for them. I don't follow a recipe. Sometimes its ginger and garlic. Sometimes its lemongrass. I use the stuff in the tubes. Just squeeze it out and cook away. And then just what ever spices I happen to remember to put in. I use what I have and am not afraid to experiment. I urge you and your followers to do the same. This is a "staple" with me. So easy. So fast. So good! Thanks again Wes for what you're doing here. And I get six servings for less than $ 1.75 each? Bonus!

Hi, Sharon! Someone told me that this is also sometimes called "Egg Roll in a Bowl", which now makes perfect sense! It's a little more highly seasoned (to me, anyway) than traditional egg roll filling. And yes, it's super easy and fast. Especially for the payoff in flavor.

Sharon Ray .....you can make a skin by beating an egg throughly and cooking a thin layer in a non-stick 8 or 9 inch skillet on both sides. For this I did leave the eggs out and used veg and meat. Sans soy sauce because I can't have salt. Wonderful.

Looks delicious. I've watched her do that recipe several times over the last 2 years and I've never tried it. I think I'll give it a try. And... egg roll in a bowl. I've avoided that because I love the crispy wonton wrapper and just thought it would be pointless but I tasted something recently that made me think maybe it is worth it even without the wrapper so I'm going to give that a try. If you love Asian like I do maybe you can do that recipe. And I totally agree with you about the sesame oil. All the times my best friend and I have been making this, we just called it an inside out egg roll. Who knew it had a different name? LOL. We make it with a pound of fresh ground sausage, however. It adds more of a flavor than ground beef or chicken and actually tastes better. Even if we double or triple the recipe for a large group, we still only use one pound of ground sausage and it still is enough (because we are usually having more protein somewhere else). You should try it.

Unfortunately, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and any aminos, chili paste or powder, ginger, etc are all out for me as they cause inflammation terribly I am hoping to find something I can substitute but because inflammation means serious, severe pain for days not minutes, I have to hold off. However, it sure "smells" good. I love Kristie, as well, and most of her recipes work for me with both RA and diabetes. Thanks!

I regularly use a chili infused sesame oil on my food, especially when I desire an Asian style meal. Just thought I'd mention that as an alternative to chili paste. I just cold infused my toasted sesame oil with real nice quality crushed red pepper. Even better would be some Korean chili flakes.

I make eggs in cast iron every day. Super easy. Beat eggs first. Heat pan. Add butter and melt. Make sure butter is hot, with a splash of avocado oil so it doesn’t burn butter. Cook eggs. Don’t over mix them or it with stick a little.

I make mine with ground pork and heaps of fresh ginger, I only use about a tsp of the thai chili paste, the ginger adds enough spice.

I love this with shrimp. Cook the shrimp first. Do your cabbage mixture and add the shrimp for a very short warmup. so good wouldn't use bacon fat in this because I only like it in cabbage with sausage

So I inadvertently combined keto with intermittent fasting and struck gold (I have since fallen off the wagon). I was living alone - which always affects your eating habits. I had a freezer full of aged, grass fed ground beef and very little money. I would make it through most of the day without eating. I was not making myself starve, I just had other things to do. Around supper time I'd make some crack slaw using a pound of the beef, about half a head of cabbage, and generally some onions and/or mushrooms. I was eating this almost exclusively, once a day. I wasn't doing anything else and my weight was slowly but steadily dropping. I'm am totally hopping back on that wagon.

I haven't tried chicken. I make my Crack Slaw with a pound of Country Style Pork Sausage. Ground beef didn't taste good to me, but sometimes I will cook a little in with the pork sausage. Still learning keto -so I'm not sure if pork is permitted. It sure does taste good in this recipe though. :)

I've been eating a version of crack slaw, just beef and coleslaw mix with bacon grease and different spices a ton during these last few months, then one day learned its pretty much crack slaw! I love it! But still haven't done this recipe exactly. I need to because I've been craving some sort of Asian dish lately!
