Its so cool to see you get so excited about 80's music. A lot of people would just laugh and say it's horrible but you are obviously extremely open minded. 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Holmes shaking the guitar 🎸 up high still gives me chilllllsssss so freaking classic hard rock and great reaction young lady keep rocking it was a banger
W.A.S.P. are incredible. Beyond this song they became much deeper and are, by far, musically the best of all of the 80s Sunset Strip bands. And they have never stopped putting out amazing albums.
@@ripvanwinkle2002 Nice. In fact, it was my first "real" rock concert. I just got into metal and wanted to see a triple feature with Anthrax, Overkill and Agent Steel a few month before, but I was not allowed too, and the show was to far away to sneak out of the house and go there by bike or train. My parents only allowed me to go to see Maiden, because my friends dad agreed to drive us to the venue. And he waited in the parking lot the whole show. Pretty cool move from his part in retrospective, as we where only 14 or 15 back than.
WASP was a shock rock band think Alice Cooper etc. their concert album “live in the raw” was recorded on the final night of their 1986-87 world tour. I recommend “I wanna be somebody” and “I’m blind in Texas”. Most of the songs they are known for have an impressive amount of cussing.
W.A.S.P are just excellent, still going strong all these years later. And Wild Child holds a special place in my heart, not only was it a 1985 release (my birth year) but also my dad loved W.A.S.P and so I inherited that love through him.
W.A.S.P. has such a unique sound and have some superb tracks you should check out. 'I wanna be somebody', 'Forever Free', 'Mean Man' or 'the Real Me' are some cracking follow ups to Wild Child for you 👍
Still today after all these decades the sound of Blackie's voice is like a voice crying in the wilderness. So much passion and ferocity. I loved WASP from the very beginning!
Kids today will never understand the greatness of the decade of decadence.....80s!!!! Seeing bands live that have this energy in their shows and music will never be replicated.

Blackie just knew how to deliver a song, man. Notice he's the primarily bass player. Recommendations: "Forever Free" for their almost power ballad. "I Don't Need No Doctor", a great cover song. "Blind In Texas". "Inside the Electric Circus", "I Wanna Be Somebody".
Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom was known as the Wild Child and it is a reference to how this song inspired him growing up to be the rock star he became.
I had never listened to WASP but when i was in high school in the 80s I got RIP, Metal Edge and every other metal magazine every single month. One of those magazines printed lyrics to songs in the back. One month this song was printed and, being a lyricist myself, I loved this song and immediately went to listen to it and other WASP songs.
I came of age in 1976 and thought I was locked into 60’s & 70’s rock. It was then that we started hanging out in clubs on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Bands I worked for would be playing the same club circuit as Guns N’ Roses, Quiet Riot, and W.A.S.P. just to name a few. At the same time I was gigging on the house crew of a concert hall that catered to New Wave and Punk rock. You sound like an Aussie. We had at least one band from down under and that was a band called Air Supply. They were neither punk or new wave, more like a romantic vibe. Anyway, it’s been nearly fifty years since and I’ve forgotten more than I remember.
This is for everyone: If WASP is playing near you, buy the tickets! They still sound amazing and Blackie's voice hasn't changed for the worse. Unlike some other, more popular, musicians.
Your reactions are great. Wasp are an awesome rock band. I saw them in 1987 at the Monsters of Rock Festival in 1987 ! They were really great ! You should listen to Blind in Texas and Sleeping in the Fire. Blackie has a great voice xx
I saw WASP in a small hall in 1984 where there only about 300 people tops, and they only had their 1st album released. If that weren't enough, there were a couple other bands that played that night too. Armored Saint on their March of the Saint tour, and Metallica on their Ride the Lightning tour (back when they were good). My favorite part of the show was seeing Blackie. He has always been my favorite musician since I discovered the band.
Underrated is the word that keeps surfacing whenever you see WASP mentioned. Some of their lesser known songs are underrated as well. Honestly these guys were big but they should have been bigger. They really knew how to put on a show too - probably better than anyone but it did get a bit too theatrical with whipping naked ladies, assless chaps and meat and stuff LOL. Try to watch one of their concerts from London. They also hired a new basist after this was made called Johnny Rodd, who was pretty hilarious too. Drinking problems, women problems, artistic differences, politicians and community groups trying to ban their music - this band had it all tugging at the seems though. Be sure to check out some of their other stuff and don't be afraid to go off the beaten path a little. I think some of their "most popular" songs were more about poppy tunes and film clips, but they are the least interesting.
Great song choice. We need more of these 80's bands. Another great song from this band is Inside the Electric Circus. Probably my favorite song from this band. Blackie Lawless had one of the most unique voices from that era. More please.
Should listen to the Battle Beast cover of this song with Noora Louhimo singing, they're a Finnish band with very a heavy 80s influenced sound. Another band known for their 1980s vibe is Burning Witches, they're an all-girl power metal group based in Switzerland, they've covered a few 80s songs like Ozzy's A Shot In The Dark, Manowar's Battle Hymn and Judas Priest's Jawbreaker, Dio's Holy Diver and Savatage's Hall Of The Mountain King.
Hi Millie so glad someone has checked out this amazing band I saw them back in 89 on the Headless Children tour at Hammersmith Odean London still have the ticket programme and t-shirt from that tour, anyway in my opinion Blackie Lawless is a very underrated singer/songwriter and doesn't get the recognition he deserves, also this song is from there second album The Last Command, which happens to be the best album they ever released in my humble opinion, and if you do check anymore from this album I'd suggest either Widowmaker or Cries in the Night, but like I said they have many brilliant songs to choose from.
Yes, this was mid 80s. Their first couple of albums were heavy and very good rock and roll. Their first two song Single with Animal (F**k Like A Beast) and Show No Mercy was just raw and insane! This was the best incarnation of WASP with Blackie Lawless on Bass, Randy Piper on lead Guitar, Chris Holmes on Rhythm Guitar, and Steve Riley (or Tony Richards earlier) on Drums. They were never as good after Blackie moved to Rhythm Guitar, Chris moved to Lead Guitar, and Randy was no longer in the band.
Thats not a chopper but more of a bobber style motorcycle. This is the original band line up so this is 80s all the way. I met the guitar player on the left a few times at guitar shows.
W.A.S.P. is amazing and they have a lot of classics from the 80's, but if you really want to take a trip check out their KFD album from the late 90's. I've been a metalhead more than 4 decades and The Horror is probably the darkest song I've ever heard P. S. NSFW warning if you do

WASP (acronym for "We are sexual perverts" 😂) was the 80's shock rock answer to Alice Cooper 🤘🤘 Formed in the early 80's in the notorious L.A. scene, WASP was famous in their early days for flinging raw meat at audiences at the end of their club sets... They did everything to cause outrage - their first single "Animal (F+++ like a beast)" was taken off their 1984 debut album... the single cover was Blackie Lawless (vocals/ bass) wearing a codpiece w/ a buzzsaw 😲 But WASP had staunch support from Iron Maiden, whose managers demanded that WASP be signed to Capitol Records... Maiden's label at the time. In 1985, WASP did a major American tour w/ Metallica and Armored Saint... Metallica were clearly the band that was favored on that run, even though WASP had MTV support and a major album out. Blackie Lawless (born Steve Duren) had been playing bass professionally since the 70's and eventually formed his own L.A. band Circus Circus... In 1982, Blackie Lawless formed WASP and the band went through a few members before Chris Holmes (guitar) joined w/ Randy Piper (guitar) and Tony Richards (drums) ... Their self-titled debut album in 1984 enjoyed strong sales on the MTV video "I wanna be somebody'... as well as songs like "L.O.V.E. Machine"... 'Sleeping (in the fire)' Steve Riley (drums) joined the band in 1985 for the 2nd album 'The last command'... it enjoyed better sales w/ the MTV singles - 'Wild child' ... 'Blind in Texas'... Afterwards, Johnny Rod (guitar) replaced Randy Piper. 'Inside the electric' circus' (1986) marked WASP's commercial peak and was followed by the stellar live album "Live in the raw" (1987) ... Steve Riley (drums) was apparently dismissed and joined rockers L.A. Guns (Steve Riley became the longest-serving drummer of L.A. Guns... he passed away in 2023... R.I.P.) Blackie Lawless hired Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali for WASP's 4th album 'The headless children'... becoming their most successful record... But internal disputes led to guitarist Chris Holmes leaving the band w/ guitarist Johnny Rod. Blackie Lawless switched from bass to guitar for the epic WASP album 'The Crimson Idol' (1992)... a fictional concept album regarded as their best work w/ songs like - 'Arena of pleasure' ... 'Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue)'... 🤘🤘 But the 90's grunge era put WASP on the back bench and forced the band to switch to smaller record labels. Blackie Lawless returned w/ a new WASP album 'Still not black enough' in 1995... He reunited w/ Chris Holmes (guitar) for the 1997 album 'K.F.D.' (Kill f+++ die) w/ Mike Duda (bass) and Stet Howland (drums)... followed by the albums 'Helldorado' (1999) and 'Unholy terror' (2001)... and a doble live album "Double live assassins'... but after financial disputes, Chris Holmes left once again. WASP then released 'Dying for the world' (2002) before completing a new concept album in 2 parts - 'The Neon God: the rise Pt.1'... and 'The Neon God: the demise Pt II' in 2004. Newer WASP albums were somewhat disappointing w/ Blackie Lawless, guitarist Doug Blair and bassist Mike Duda in the band... WASP had been actively touring and gaining popularity again in America and Europe... until Blackie Lawless recently canceled a 2024 tour because of his back injuries.
That's about as true as everything people said KISS stands for. Not saying it doesn't fit, but there was never anything actually stating that, people just went with it because of their image.
@@Patryn71 Kiss was just simple Kiss... W.A.S.P. was exactly what I stated... I mean, they used to parade semi-nude models onstage in their early days and throw raw meat chunks into the audience...
@@sumonjamal1653 I listened to WASP back in the day and still enjoy them now, but in all the many many many interviews I've read, all the interview picture discs I had, all the videos I've seen, NEVER once did they say that's what it stood for. At least not that I've ever seen.
@@Patryn71 I think Blackie Lawless (he has a story on how he got that name) used to announce WASP as "We are sexual perverts!" back in the club days... After they got signed, their record label discouraged it... so they kept people guessing. It's more likely instead of "White Anglo Saxon protestants" (which is a stupid name) and given their first single was 'Animal (f+++ like a beast)'... that is more likely. In the 80's, artists had to use abbreviations to excuse their profanity... Twisted Sister used the term 'S.M.F' for a song title and Dee Snider testified that it stood for "Sick Mother F+++er" (or "Sick Motherf+++in' Friends")
For more W.A.S.P., try "L.O.V.E.machine" - with the promo video, that's suitably risqué by today's standards 🙂Another 80s heavy party rock banger is "Rock you" by Canadian legends Helix. Or, why not some girl power and try "All we are" by Warlock, fronted by the one and only metal queen herself, Doro Pesch? 🤘All pure 80s magic. There are in fact loads of superb 80s sounding, retro if you will, bands of this sort in our own day and age. Among the best are Sweden's Hardcore Superstar and Sister Sin.
Hi Millie,, I seen WASPin 86 open up for KISS attheCow Palace, talk about crazy night..WASP blew KISS off the stage))) I would like to recommend Steel Heart - I'll Never Let You Go...This is from the late 80's or early 90's but this song blows me away with the level of talent))) I'm sure you will enjoyit)0
Lawless is an extremely underrated vocalist. I still have a wasp concert shirt from 1983 or 1984
And an underrated songwriter.
What? He's ever been underestimated
100% agreed.
Up there with the top metal gods 🤘
One song. Sleeping in the fire.
Agree 100%
Blackie Lawless one of the most under rated writers and singers of the 80's
He is Great Musician and not commerce man. He has told "if you don't like what we play - just go home" and that is his core.
And 90s, Crimson Idol is my fave wasp album.
@tomtucker1984 the crimson idol was in my opinion the best wasp album
And he still sounds fantastic at 67 years old.
Yes!
He has been lip syncing for many years. But his lip syncing sounds very good.
He's singing on a backingtrack
@robinasdal9844 videos of most artists are lip syncing & there's a backing tracks. He still had to sing it in the first place.
i was at Tons of rock in Norway this year, WASP sounded fucking amazing
"I wanna be somebody" is another banger from this band!

Blackie Lawless hired Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali for WASP's 4th album 'The headless children'... becoming their most successful record...
'Mean Man' next.....a biker banger
Listen to Babylons Burning 🔥 (the official video) I highly recommend it 👍
For more W.A.S.P., try "L.O.V.E.machine" - with the promo video, that's suitably risqué by today's standards 🙂Another 80s heavy party rock banger is "Rock you" by Canadian legends Helix.
