    We were also excited about the 1st Edition. We experienced all the same issues as you. But certain things we miss now: the smooth comfortable ride, the comfy seats and the u turns.
    So, we traded it for a 2023 Tesla all wheel drive in red with white seats.
    The items I still miss in the ID4 are missing in the Y. The suspension offers a much harder ride and the seats are kind of strange. An adjustable headrest would be nice. I need a small pillow for my neck and a lumbar pillow for my back.
    It’s a great looking car, sportier than the ID4 which more resembles an suv. And with a home charger, we don’t worry so much about fast charging.
    So, please keep posting about your experience with EVs.

      Good point. People never think about the keyboard, mouse or screen of their desktop - even though they are the touchpoints we use all the time every day. Seats are important, ride comfort is important - but no manufacturer gets it right for everyone. I had a Golf Auto rental car for six weeks and the ride was hideous and the seats were appalling. But that was just me.

    Wow, Alex. Such vitriol for the poor id.4. I only thought you despised Tesla. So, my '22 Mach-e got sideswiped and is in the shop for a few weeks. I'm currently renting a Model 3. I now see how the public charging experience for Tesla is amazing compared to EA/EVGo/ChargePoint/Blink. I still like the UI and features in my Mach-e over the Tesla experience, but it is a decent vehicle. Enjoy some kai yang for me.

    I like my ID.4 AWD.
    And people that get on it like it too.
    I think the problem is rhe EV UA-camrs that get so spoiled they start to expect things.
    As an engineer I know it is easy to have an idea, but implementation takes time and iteration.
    The 2024 ID.4 is much better that my 2021, and 2025 will be even better. It is not that they are listening to your complaints. It is that they already knew the problem but they have to go to market with what they have.
    If they wait for the best version they run out of money and we get old.

    • @ImLivinSD
      @ImLivinSD Місяць тому

      True kronosaurelius but then we get cars that have been unproven and untested, next thing you know the wheels are falling off, doors won't open in a fire, and software bugs all tied to the center console screen BRICK the whole car due to issues. Sorry but this is just one reason why we don't need all this Hi Tech CRAP. They really need to design the cars to WORK no matter want any of the sensors say. We have truely gone backwards in time. The EV is not the car of the future but a failed Electric car of the past. Before you go into any kind of BS No I don't own one, No I have not driven one and NO I DON'T WANT ONE.

    • @kronosaurelius

      @@ImLivinSD my EV is very reliable. The things they said about the software are true. It is slow. But the car is very reliable where it matters. It has never bricked or suddenly stopped on the road.
      The battery was never in danger of catching fire.
      But I agree it is an experiment you have to be willing to make. Especially if you buy a car that just started production.

Also, what the heck were they doing trying to blame Google for their Android Auto pairing issues, when, just as he said, so many other vehicles have no issues. That, to me, says a lot. Just say that it's a known issue and you're working on it -- trying to blame others for your problems is just a really bad look. Also, did you see the emails they sent him? They ended up basically blacklisting him as an EV journalist because he was honest about his own vehicle which had multiple, recurring problems.

      OTA updates after years of promising this would be a good start. And in the UK, despite all the negative feedback over unlit buttons below the centre screen - still not addressed. The real reason here is that VW Diesel Engineers never wanted to make a computer driven EV. And so it was at best, a mixed bag.

    I have one of the last German-built, US-delivered 2021 ID.4s. While it is a decent around-town car, it is terrible on trips as VW dangled free Electrify America charging but put the stations at the edges of the car's range, especially in the winter.
    My worst experience with VW's service also came with the 12v battery/OTA work. At the same time, the battery module evaluation was performed and a bad module was found. Even though the dealer was certified to do high voltage repairs, in the words of the service manager, they "have had some concerns with the safety in the process of repairs." After sitting on their lot for nearly 5 weeks (I had a brand new -7 miles on it- Tiguan as a loaner), the car was taken to their other dealership and the repair was performed. Result: warm weather range increased a little bit, but the winter range still sucks.
    I agree that the "new" login in screen is annoying, especially when I am the only driver. Even more annoying is that, if you don't drive it everyday, the car automatically logs you out. The notification to log back in states, "Your account has been offline for a longer period of time..." Longer than what? "Longer" is a word of comparison and there is nothing in the notification to compare it to. Longer than a day? Longer than a week? Longer than man has roamed the Earth?
    Maybe you have to be German to understand.

      He's on about it because he had multiple issues that were never properly addressed by VW, VW tried to put blame on others instead of itself for some problems (like blaming Google for the Android Auto issues instead of itself), and he also has explained how VW treated him like crap and also blacklisted him for being honest about his experience. And he fact you're trying to excuse his issues as not unusual given that it's a launch edition of a vehicle just says to me that you're pretty out of touch (btw, I don't remember the Cybertruck having anywhere near the problems he has explained he has). Lastly, the fact you own an ID4 yourself just tells me that you have some level of bias which is influencing your response to his videos about the vehicle.

    • @tannermcnabb4836
      @tannermcnabb4836 Місяць тому +1

      @@flybriur dude what are you talking about there are tons of stories of cybertrucks being bricked, having to be towed, undiagnosed software issues, sometimes just a few miles after delivery. Not putting it into "carwash mode" voids warranty, coming in way short of the promised range, years late, accelerator pedal recall already, etc. And that's a $100k vehicle, and there's only been 3800 of them delivered.
      And Tesla is totes on the up and up for any of the people reviewing them, you can call out their problems on their vehicles and they are TOTALLY UNDERSTANDING as a company and not at all run by a petty man child. If E for Electric ran a bunch of full length negative pieces on the cybertruck, I bet he would DEFINITELY be still treated like a top média contact and held in high regard by Techno-King Elon.

    Yes, sorry but VW is not good. My experiences of BEV's:
    -FIAT 500e is much better than I expected. But, it is very small. Rear seat is just for two Max 165cm persons. Wheelbase and wide are so small, that it is not comfortable on bumpy roads.
    -MG4 is very good small SUV. Lane keeping assistant is crap. You have to stop the car to switch it off. Only way to do it is using menu, deep, deep. Touching the screen can gig you a beep, but still nothing happens. Instead of 4-5 taps, you often have to tap 9-12 times. That is not safe wile driving.
    -I would like to have a Tesla, but it is too difficult to turn it in my very narrow old city street 90 degrees to reverse it in my large garage with a very narrow door. Here it is not allowed to make a wider door to a very old stone house. I am waiting to maybe get the new Tesla "2".

So promise gives way to remorse and no over the air update?? So was it should a bad choice as many had bought ICE cars that are even more disappointed?? Next shiny thing always will be more tempting than the old shiny thing but hope Right to repair gives us vehicles that will last years and years!!

I have ridden in it many times and the ride is very good, is quiet and the dual motor is plenty quick I think you are being butt hurt because VW cut you off of all the free perks many journalists get foe reviewing their vehicles, I do love your witty comments bur I think it’s time to stop whining about VW and move on.

Have you seen the videos where he shows the emails he was sent by them? They do not know how to conduct themselves properly. Unfortunately you seem to be clearly biased.

    This guy is a great enthusiast of electric mobility. I think he's struggling to realize and admit that the problem isn't the car brands, that he start loving and end up hating (Tesla and VW so far), but the problem lies in the electric car itself. The technology isn't ready for daily use in nacional scale yet, no matter the brand of car. The battery technology isn't good enough yet.

    Hybrids are now dominant and will continue to be because of 4 things:
    1. Range Anxiety - you can't jump in a BEV and drive 600 miles without a route planner in one day. Most BEVs have a range of 300 miles and at below zero and above 100F, you can cut that range by 100 miles
    2. Charging Anxiety - on your 600-mile trip, you will easily spend an hour waiting for your charge to charge. On busy chargers and chargers broken you can easily double that time
    3. Depreciation Anxiety - my 2022 Tesla Model Y long-range has lost 66% of its MSRP value in 2 years
    Elon cut the price of an identical Model Y by $25,000 - killing the resale market
    4. Battery Anxiety - replacing a Tesla battery after the 8 year warranty costs $15,000+ - resale prices will reflect that ungodly price in even lower used car prices.
    Hybrids have none of these problems, and since Early Adopters like me have bought our toy, the rest of the customer base does not want the above anxieties - they want a hybrid
    or just buy a gasoline-powered car - none of the above problems either.

    • @EforElectric
      @EforElectric  Місяць тому

      3. That was your fault that you were dumb enough to do business with Tesla, 4. Batteries do not get that much worse after 8 years. You essentially know exactly what you have and if you didn't have to replace it under warranty you'll be fine for many years after that

      Maybe VW did actually get things resolved with the ID4. But they way they handled it was pretty bad, with trying to blame others for their issues, and also the way they treated him personally for being honest about his own experiences with his vehicle. Remember, this is the company that programmed their vehicles to purposedly lie about their emissions when tested.
