I had Sculptra 4 years ago at age 54 and it was so worth it. It definitely helped with overall firmnes and wrinkle reduction and the added bonus was with acne scars. I have moderate acne scarring and Sculptra smoothed my skin so that about 70% of my scars were non existent. I had refresh treatments after 2 years and so far have been so pleased with the results.

Im 3 mos into the Sculptra time period. Im 66 and still do not want a face lift. I have just now , 12 weeks, noticed a definite great result....no more nasal labial folds, marionette lines are greatly diminished and the creases in my cheeks are a lot less noticeable. Im super pleased after only one application.

Is your result after only one injection? Or did you have multiple injections as a series? I'm your age and only want to address minor jowling and faint marionette lines, but they really, really bug me. It was my understanding that Sculptra in the cheek area would "lift and tighten" the face to some extent to improve the appearance of jowls and marionette lines. Did you have that kind of result? Thank you!

I am 76 and had some volume loss after having surgery done in January 2020, where I ended up losing weight, both in my body and my face! I am naturally petite and thin, and did not look good with the weight loss in my face. I had Sculptra done in January of 2021 and ended up having four treatments. The result was great! Now I do not have that gaunt look in my cheeks and my skin has a glow as well. I have been doing hyaluronic fillers since I was in my mid 50's. I reserve those for lip lines and the nasolabial folds and I will continue to do those for upkeep. I've always had a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that I trust to do any of these treatments and they have always been very natural. With the exception of my husband, no one ever really notices😊

I had a series of Sculptra injections done 4 years ago at age 63. I wound up with a small, barely visible nodule in my temple area, but overall it definitely added volume where I wanted it and smoothed everything out. Plus, my skin did take on a nice "glow"! It lasted a good 3 years and looked great, but I wouldn't do it again because (1) it's expensive, (2) it hurt while getting it, and (3) I don't have the funds anymore and am trying not to use my credit cards. Now I just now follow good skincare routines, and have fun playing with my makeup to try and hide my "perceived imperfections".

Warning, I had one injection of Sculptra one year ago. I didn't have any nodule development but It made my face look permanently swollen. I look like I gained weight and when I smile my face looks like a blow fish (slight exaggeration). The worse thing I have ever done to my face. I have always had a fat face not because of weight gain but genetics. It has always made me look younger than I am but not necessarily more beautiful and that is where the problem lies with all these people getting injections as they age. Adding weight to you face doesn't necessarily make you look better or younger. Actually a thinner face is considered more appealing. Filling in were there are hollows can help but Sculptra was developed to add volume to the cheeks...yuck. I wish someone would have told me this. I thought I has using something that was more natural and would grow collagen overtime. Looking fat and bloated in my face is the last thing a women in her 50s wants.

Hi. I love Sculptra! At 61 I started using Restalyn in my mid 50's. Chin, smile lines and my under eye area. My injector has Angel hands! I have never had any issues nor any puffy looks. My injector asked me if I would like to try Sculptra. Yes!!! I have not looked back. I was treated with only 1 treatment per year spaced at every 2 years. I really don't need the Restalyn anymore. The Sculpture gives me a very natural look overall. No one has ever asked me if I have had anything done! I think the main factor is above and beyond the product. The injector has to know which products you need, how to use them and how much to use. That's so important!
The massages after Sculptra sound much more dramatic then they are. They feel really good and the 5 days go by really fast as time does anyway. Even 5 minutes 5 times a day goes by fast. It's worth the long lasting results.( 2 years!)
    I hope this helps someone.
    Thank you!

That was the most straightforward explanation of Sculptra I have seen, thank you. I am seeking to make my cheekbones seem higher like they were in my youth and after reading some of these comments, it seems as if it would make my face look rounder so now I'm thinking Radiesse may be the way to go (which I saw on your chart) but I'm confused about that option too. A year from now I am planning a neck and lower facelift and just got my upper eyelids done. I’m very confident in my two Doctors. One is very experienced with this product while the other is the surgeon and filler expert. I have two sets of eyes on my face which I really like plus an RN who does lasers and a facialist. I received sculptra in temples, chin and area between jaw and cheek and just a little to balance out nose to lip. Hi Dr Dray, could you please make a video about radiofrequency microneedling? I've heard so many contradicting opinions about that. Some people say it melts down your face fat. But then, my esthetician says it all depends on the settings - you use different settings to melt down the fat and slim your belly, and different settings to tighten your skin on the face. But then again, I saw a video where this youtuber said we shouldn't trust claims made by the companies that sell those technologies, because those treatments that are supposed to be minimally invasive are much more invasive than we think. For example, she thinks Renée Zellweger may have had Thermage or Ultherapy and it cost her her face fat. I know, these are different modalities, but it got me thinking - what if my esthetician offers radiofrequency microneedling in good faith, because she trusts the company that she got her machine from, but this machine does in fact melt your face fat? Maybe it does tighten the skin, but at the same time, it melts the fat, so the overall result is good in younger clients, but not that in those older ones? Please make a video about that.

    • @elizabethwilk9615
      @elizabethwilk9615 2 роки тому +6

You are correct - ultheraphy can be problematic. It did cause some fat lost for me. Morpheus 8 was great for my laugh lines but not good for my hyperpigmentation. I say light peels and micro needling are less problematic and worth it. You have to weigh the pros and cons and the risks of course.

I spent years competing in endurance sports (running and cycling), and my face had a very sunken and skeletal look to it. I noticed when I gained 10 pounds during winter I looked a lot better in my face, but I'd lose that weight as I got more active in warmer months and the face looked worse. So at 39 I tried sculptra, and am very happy that my face now shows less hollows, less smile lines, less wrinkles, just a more robust and healthy appearance. It was a slow/gradual process though, and I got my injections spread out every 4-6 months. I was told I may need an occasional top-off every year or two. But I'm glad to have this more natural approach rather than some foreign filler that just stays there until it goes away. No lumps/bumps and very natural looking.

I had a VERY robust response to sculptra! This made my once high, prominent cheekbones A LOT more round and I now look like I've gained 20 pounds! Sculptra changed my face shape and not for the better. My face is wider and fuller. I had it placed in the temples and along the cheeks. I feel that my midface is heavier too and wonder if it migrated there?
It does have a firming effect, but it really threw off my entire face and I do not feel I look good anymore. I am trying to see what can be done to restore some balance. It is a bit distressing because there is no way to reverse this at all. For reference, I am 49.
I now feel I need to do other things to balance my face and that is costing MORE money! Sculptra is not predictable and injectors should warn that there could be unexpected results.

Hi! From what I understand, Kybella and Cryoskin facials can basically melt the fat/bulkiness in the face...Kybella actually dissolves fat pads completely and cryoskin (basically fat-freezing/radio-frequency) can not only tighten the skin but reduce volume as well...they are both semi-expensive with Kybella being about $1,300-$2,000 depending on where you live and cryoskin usually about $300 per facial but they may be something to look into! Just a thought! Stay happy and well! 😊

Anything with radio frequency technology will melt some of the felt and also fillers in your cheek. I’m guessing you had a bad injector. It’s always important to consider the patients facial structure to not fill in areas that might lead to undesired results. I like radiesse because it stays in place and feels like bone until if dissolves. During that time new collagen is build in that area. It stays there forever until it’s broken down by the body or treatments. At least that is my experience. My face is still altered but the fillers are long gone. The initial lift and tightness that is. It’s been months. I feel likes sculptra is harder to inject because it doesn’t lift. So you kinda have to guess where you put it. And due to it being a fluid not a thicker substance it might actually migrate more than other fillers.

But doesn't that depend on what you're looking to correct? A facelift alone isn't going to give the face volume or increase your own collagen production, which is why a lot of surgeons do fat grafting with facelifts (which will significantly drive up the total cost of surgery). Sculptra sounds like something that'd be great for someone who doesn't yet have a lot of sagging but have lost some of their facial fat with age. There are also people who simply aren't good candidates for surgery and will only ever be able to do the minimally invasive treatments.

    Question:
Why is filler so expensive? It’s ridiculously expensive.
Unaffordable for many people if they plan on getting it once or twice a year.
I’m 25 and I’m not broke. But I don’t have an extra $4000 a year for lip filler.
Could I save the money? Yes.
But why? I have bills to pay, dogs to feed and I need new clothes at some point.
It should be more affordable. Especially because you need to keep getting it at minimum twice a year to keep your results.

I have a question about sculptra vs tretinoin: do tretinoin work as a bio stimulator on collagen production in the same way that sculptra does? In other words: do I get the same results using tretinoin consistantly as I would get from a treatment with sculptra?

I had volume loss at the lower part of my cheeks. So I had lots of filler in my upper cheek nothing in my lower cheek. I looked terrible and it actually made me look older. I believe Sculptra is the way to go for volume overall as you age.

I’m 65 and completed my 3 treatments about 2 months ago and am already seeing great results. My injector said to expect the full results in another 4-5 months. Then follow up with one treatment every year to keep up the results. I did the math and for me, even though it’s expensive at the beginning, it’s cheaper than regular filler in the long run when you consider you only need one vial per year after the first year. My vials were $655.

Here's my experience both times: Bad bruising, and soreness that makes massaging a miserable five minutes 5x per day! And it is very expensive! However, I am starting to see results, which I hope will continue without a third session. Skin is starting to look and feel plumper. I'm doing other things in tandom, like collagen powder, and all the topicals that promote collagen. After menopause, women lose a depressing amount of collagen, and Sculptra can counter that! It all seems unlikely from normal topical applications of these products but there's so much fear-mongering over everything.

But, I would never risk having that injected anywhere the nodules could be noticeable. Maybe a few years down the road. Why not use the other long acting fillers ?
Just that feeling of what if these lumps never go away because I had this filler, it was so scary. There’s terrible pictures of a Sculptra nodules online . I just don’t trust it.
