Nice batch of reels, I don’t know what it is but I just like all the different styles and looks of the old closed face reels. The closed face south bend reel would be neat to see if it’s the same as a Shakespeare in a video.
I believe this is the Shakespeare Wondercast underneath as Shakespeare made a lot of the South Bend reels during this time. I will do the video on this one and compare - Thanks Mike - Dennis
Everything has changed and I just got one in as you saw. I will try to do the video on it. At best, they are only a distant relative to the originals - Best wishes
Dennis this channel is great. I have an old Shakespeare wonderod, 6’6 length, I’m not sure when it’s from. It says Wonderod straight fiber, Are you familiar with them? I’m a younger guy who loves old stuff. I can’t find much info, but it’s a beautiful rod in my opinion. I have been wondering about what type of reel would pair nicely with that rod and be somewhat period correct? I want to give the respect it deserves and have a proper vintage setup. Sorry for asking for free advice!
The reel for this rod depends on the rod set up. If you have the bait casting seal seat that looks like the letter "C" as an indent where the reel mounts, then you can pair it with a Wondercast closed face reel or any of the early Shakespeare bait casting reels. If the reel seat is a straight line with the blank, it is meant for a spinning reel. An early Shakespeare Wondereel series 2100-2200 or so may be the ideal fit for that rod -
A great lineup of Reels , I'm so glad to see other guys still like the old Vintage Reels. I don't want to miss any upcoming Videos.
I am glad you are enjoying them, I have some great ones planned Bobby
Another great video that was close with the knife opening the box in the beginning 😳Thank you for the videos ?
Yeah - I've got to be better about that!
Hi Dennis nice lot of reels to repair . Really enjoyed this video. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
