So your buddy goes on vacation and when he comes back you've purchased a boat and completely refurbished it? Suddenly I'm feeling very disappointed in my friend selection.
Haha right!
Your boyfriend is going to be stoked when he sees the great job you’ve done on his boat. I support you guys! Keep up the great work
Lol not my boyfriend but he is a good buddy! He was super stoked. Thanks for watching!
@@JackedUpFishing lol. Nice job on the boat!
Hahahahaha
I hope Johnny got you a bday gift this year! You’re a great friend!!! This is the type of content I like!
lol 😂
Nice work, I liked seeing the glass work properly sorted out.
Thanks 👍
One heck of a nice transformation! Well done!
🙏 thank you
Brother, your work is tight!!!! Amazing job! You're a true craftsman! You're electrical/wiring is on point!!
Thank you! I am gonna have some more build coming. Just have to edit them! Tight lines !
BEAUTIFUL BAY BOAT, NICE JOB‼️👍. Vinny 🇺🇸
Thx 🙏. It was a lot of work that’s for sure. Thanks for watching
Great job…,nice seeing the effort you put into that.
Thanks 👍
Excellent job
Thank you very much!
Sweet video. Love this stuff. No one else is actively doing this rn
Hey, thanks! I just put it out there to show everyone whats been going on! Thanks for the comments!!!
That is a nice transom plate! Good job. I would have bought a tent to cut down on the sunburn, but I have been dealing with skin cancer since my early 20’s… I can’t stop fishing though.
I seriously think I will be in the same boat with skin cancer as well. But it was worth it!! Thanks for compliments on plate too!
Nice work bud! Always a great feeling making things seaworthy again! 🤙🦀🌴
Bigtime a lot more work than I had planned for sure but it came out good. Thanks for watching !
Great work!!
Thanks man!
“Your buddy” yea we all got a buddy who just bout something that needs to store it at our house
Lol actually it was a buddy he still runs this boat today. Great rig
I have the exact same boat and year. Great stuff.
Awesome! Good little boats for sure! Tight lines!
Man, wish I had the skills to do this work myself. Nice job!
Thanks 👍. You can do it!
Great job! I need you as a friend!
Thanks 🙏. Lol he is like brother . Was a lot of work
Great video man, cool to see the progression of it. I'll be over your way soon to drop off the tires, haven't really had time to start my project yet. Keep up the good work.
Sounds good!
Love these videos bro. Learning a lot from you
Thx man!
Very nice. My 99 needs some work
Thanks! I am doing my Shoalwater bay boat now. Should have some good videos on it as well.
Looks great brother!
Thanks 👍! A lot more work and time than I had expected. But it came out nice!
Amazing work, 1 more sub keep making more content 🤙😎
Nice work. I've done it so I know how much work that was.
Yeah bigtime! Thanks for watching!
good job 👏
one thing. I'd guess that the bolts sucked in because the transom may be rotted. 🤔
Nope full composite. I see people do this all the time and over torque with air impact guns. I checked and transom was good
Awesome videoo
Thanks!!
Nice rig brother
Thanks 👍 More work and time than I originally planned thats for sure!
Looks totally awesome. I would be more than happy with that boat. Just a shame he had biden signs in his garage. Hopefully he has better judgment on the water.
LOL, actually he is from England, that was his girls garage. I keep forgetting to raz her about it as well.
Brand new except for the fiberglass...does fiberglass get old? 🤔 it can get damaged, but old? 🤔
Damages repaired ++ and she's a beauty again 👍
If dry fiberglass is pretty indestructible. So yeah pretty much brand new. Came out awesome. Thanks fir watching!
Awesome vid, what Costa frames you rockin?
The Corsair I think or Blackfins too
Where did you get the raised blue and chrome decals from? Have the same boat and looking to refresh it
I got them on eBay.
I have the same boat and its getting pretty rough after 23 years of use. My transom has the same issue as that one did and was wondering where you obtained that transom brace from? Also, you did a phenomenal job redoing this boat, looks great!
I got the plate from a local welding shop. 1/4 inch aluminum and they used a metal brake to bend it. Thanks I think it came out awesome but it was a lot more work than I wanted .
I just purchased a 2003 keywest bayreef 196. I’m looking to do some of what you did. I want to change the wash down pump and stuff like that but I can’t find any info on parts and install guides. Could you point me in the right direction. Thank you for your time. Ps. The boat you redid looks amazing!
Actually my buddy's boat wash down system was working. one of the only things that did actually work. So I didn't't really mess with that.
It looks 100% better without the side rails, do you have a video showing how to remove them?
They just unscrewed and had to fill the holes. Wish I did get a video of the process as it came out real good
@@JackedUpFishing So there not held on with hidden nuts?
@@martinsteflik1329 no mine were just screws .
Do you have any links to the hatches? I have a 99 bay 196 and have been trying to find replacement hatches for it.
I just measured them and ordered from eBay. They are pretty standard sizes
I want have a friend like you, My brother wouldn't do what you did for your friend.
Lol I like helping friends and he has done some big things for me as well! Thanks for watching!!!
Did you redo the front bow that was jacked or did you have someone else do that part? Great video and great job on the boat
I had someone do it but it could have done it. No time though. Came out boss. My buddy rips that thing around all the time
Where did you pick up that leaning post? I’m working on my new to me 196 BR. Would you mind posting the dimensions of it? My main concern is getting around the back of it.
I had a local fab shop make it. Basically I just had them make it to cover the holes from the old swing cooler seat.
I have this exact same boat and looking to replace the cooler seat to a leaning post. Which leaning post did you put into this?
I had one custom made locally for 800 dollars
@@JackedUpFishing that’s not bad at all, looking to get one very similar to that.
Besides the engine and boat purchase price, how much do you have in it? I have the same boat and it needs almost exactly what you've done. Very intrigued. Looks great!
I think total we had around 16k into it complete.
@@JackedUpFishing I couldn't find that outboard for less than 15K.
How thick is the transom plate and is it stainless stainless?
It is 1/4 in Aluminum plate. I had it bent at a local shop
How big was the leaning post
Sorry this was years ago. I don’t remember.
how did you do the windshield? have a video for that?
No I don’t but it’s similar to my acrylic fast video I just posted. Check it out!
What did you use to fix the keel guard?
I used 3m 4200 so we could get it off if we needed to
Where exactly did you get that leaning post? I just got the same hull and want to switch the cooler seat
I had a guy build it in Edgewater. Message me on Instagram and I can give you his name.
Ok thanks
How hard and what did you do for Crome hand rail?
this one was just screwed in. unscrewed removed and had holes filled and matched
Nice Job! can you tell me what brand that transom brace is? or where I could purchase it?
Thanks
I had it made from local welding shop. It was 1/4 inch thick aluminum plate and they bent it for me. I just measured transom thickness and made a drawing for them. Wasn't to too bad, I think it costed me like 300 bucks. But was good to have little extra piece of mind.
@@JackedUpFishing okay. I made one for my boat also but it doesn't look as good as this one does haha.
@@samuelhutchins196 lol too funny
He keeps saying it’s his buddies boat! I bet his wife watches his videos!
Lol no it actually is a friends boat. Just seen it yesterday and it looks awesome.
Where did you get the transom plate from was it custom?
Yes it was made by local welding shop. Measured the transom thickness and had them bend 1/4" aluminum for it.
I Deffinetly know that house
Lol nice!
@@JackedUpFishing lol always see you on the water, and watched your channel before just never put 2 and 2 together 😂
What did use to buff with??? Thanks
I use 3M Perfect it followed by 3m Finesse It. hen I wax really good with Collinite 885
Where did you get the leaning post?
We had it custom made by a local fabricator.
What fab shop made the leaning post for you? I’m down in brevard county, looking for a leaning post to replace the cooler seat in my boat
Where do you get your parts from ?
Mostly eBay and Amazon. We do have a great surplus marine in our area too.
How long is this boat
It is a key west 198 so I would imagine it is 19ft 8in. You can look it up on NADA website too.
Do you need workers?
LOL no I do not want to do that stuff, rather just fish!
"Literally"
Ok??
$5500. You got robbed. Got exact same boat with a Yamaha 225 with 39 hours. Thing was kept in a warehouse and looked like it was 2 days old.. Mint condition with every bell n whistle. Paid $7900 in Boca and a mint magic tilt trailer
No… you just got a steal of a deal. Congrats!
i cringed when you didnt turn the motor to the opposite side while tightening the mounting bolts. Definitely scratched the plastics
Nope didn’t scratch
I bought same exact boat used. The wiring was shit. Actually the whole boat was just set up poorly. Probably spent $15k to get it right and it still sucked. Barely sold it for what I bought it for. Never will I buy Key West again.
Yeah I was disappointed with quality as well. Found some things that didn’t sit well with me too. Fixed them and my buddy is happy with it for now. But I totally agree with ya
How much you sell old motor for
I think we sold it for like 500 dollars. It was pre covid so prices were way lower than they are now.
The engine was blown, okay…i guess u didn’t want to work with a two-stroke, shame
It was locked, and had been sitting for a while like that. Plus my buddy had a brand new Mercury 150 in a crate and was looking to a decent boat to put it on.
rebuild not so much maybe re rigged it...
Well I guess, but it was a lot of work I know that
$5,500.00??? I bet that guy broke a land speed record running to the bank to cash that check!!
Lol you think?
