Having lost my son almost 12 years ago, this was hands down my most powerful, beautiful moment in TV history.
Sorry for your loss
May he rest in peace
Lost a son 13 years ago. The pain dissapates with time but always returns. You just find new ways to cope
I actually found part of what he said surprising for him.
Lost mine 5 months ago at 7 months. Crying everytime i watch this scene. 👼🏻
Such a touching scene. Love this moment between Monica and John, the show has gone long enough without a comforting moment between her and her father in-law, it was sweet. Shows that despite all the crap his kids give him, when they need him John will always be there. And I think this scene will help a lot of mothers who had just gone through losing a baby.
I couldn't agree more 😢 such a beautiful scene
I think it would be comforting to anyone who has lost a child but yes, the he lived a perfect life. I don't always agreeing with Sheridan but this was perfect. I don't like what he's done with Monica most of the time but this was perfect.
I wasn't ready for John to say those words. What beautiful words to say to try and comfort someone who lost a child. 🥰🥰
The scene brought tears to my eyes very touching🩶🌹
This felt right on the mark for me John’s a tariffing enemy but a noble person I’m shure he saw Monica as a enemy to begin with she belongs to a group who feel they have a claim to his land and she “took” his son from him but in this time this place she’s the wife of his son the mother of his grandson she’s family and he alone knows what it feels like to have a child taken from him and seen the effect it’s had
I just can't get over how Taylor Sheridan nails it every time. It's uncanny. He is a wise man.
“Every time” is a very big stretch. He’s been on a huge miss with Beth & Jamie, and Monica since Season 2.
You can't give him credit for everything. The actors are all known to go off script or add. Especially Kevin Costner. Also, they're only words on a page and without the acting interpretation, delivery and emotion they're nothing. Sheridan might be gifted even but he doesn't do it alone.
@@ComedyBros5 I don't even like Monica anymore. Seems like all she does in whine.
It’s pretty simple at this point all he has to do is not write woke garbage, but this is one epic scene
@Jarrett I’m right there with you. I really hope this is the moment Monica finally makes some positive character changes and improvements.
Simple words but perfect for the moment. Taylor Sheridan has a gift for writing the perfect thing to say and Kevin Costner have such a heart felt performance. This show brings us back to a simpler time, with good writing and acting. Well done
Loved that moment between John and Monica. My heart hurts for Poor Kayce and Monica. They deserve happiness for their little family. Wish the baby hadn’t died. Kudos to Kelsey Asbille who has been doing an amazing job and Luke Grimes as well.
This show was playing in the background at work. I don't watch Yellowstone but I did just recently lose a pregnancy due to unfortunate circumstances. I saw the scene where she sobs on the floor and teared up because i can relate. But, this scene....this scene made my heart twist and had me crying. These were the words I needed to hear. Thank you for this perspective
❤ My Heart heal soon, dear. I am beyond sorry.
So sorry for your loss.
I lost a son to SIDS in 2020, and truer words are rarely spoken than this scene in regards to losing someone too soon.
@@gregjohnston6987I'm so sorry for your loss. 😓
@@seabassmcbigfat@dodger1214 thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it❤️
This right here is the perfect example why I love Yellowstone. The writers and director put their soul into the show and we all feel it. Beautiful scene, beautiful writing!.
I love the sentiment behind this scene. When it comes to love, how hard you loved something is way more important than how long you did.
This is great writing.
Just had a 31 week stillborn this weekend. My baby Gia 👼 The thought of her having a perfect life and all her knowing is me and my love is so comforting 💕 let the angels guide her to paradise ✨️
I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope you're doing okay . Hugs and love to you
Should we hold a pitty party for you ? Suck it up and get on with life.
@@pedalingthru2719 what the f*ck is wrong with you??!!
I'm so sorry for your loss i lost our baby at just under 3 months 22/01/2019
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my son Samuel at 35 weeks almost 7 years ago. The hurt for me never goes away.
I do really hope to see Monica and John get along better like this.
I remember when she hated him
Best written scene of the show since S2. Season 5 is hitting on all 4 hooves and i couldnt be happier. Hope this is the begining of more john and monica scenes. I cant brag about this show enough.
I cry every time I see this. God Bless Taylor Sherridan for being...
Just Brilliant!
That's such a powerful scene.
god this was such a good line, i remember making an ugly cry face when i heard it
What a genuine moment of vulnerability shared, well done Taylor Sherridan and other writers. That was a tough scene to fight back the tears.
I thought this scene was beautiful. I love the fact that John can be tough and harsh one minute and then tender and philosophical the next. Great writing. Great show.
My daughter Natalia died during labor right after Christmas 2022. It is so comforting to have my grief visible in a show as big as this. Thank you!
This scene when he tries to comfort her is my most memorable. Heart wrenching.
beautiful........been there, know it well......absolutely true..........................beautiful................
I don’t care how many times I see this I cry ! It just flows. There are no words for a mother who has lost a child but this is as great as it gets
I cannot imagine losing a child. No one in my family does and to a major degree I am grateful we don’t know that feeling. However I do know the feeling is loss, grief. I know it hits you like a freight train or an 18 wheeler hitting you mentally even physically at times. Some people try to adjust like it never happened or it just overtakes you all the time. That grief is really love with nowhere to go. This scene shows the good comfort he gave to her. That was something she needed and John gave that to her. Thanks for uploading.
Mothers are our living angels.
This scene ranks as one of the best most powerful scenes on TV it’s right up there with Al Pacino speech in the college hearing scene in Scent of a Woman. Well Done, Marvelous 👏👏👍👍
one of the most beautiful, powerful scenes ever
This is the best scene from Yellowstone….whoever wrote this scene absolutely nailed it! Good stuff Taylor!!
Taylor is one helluva writer. Great words from a rough and stern person, who can relate to Monica's loss; and can, for a brief moment have the most compassion anyone can ever have!
THE perfect gesture of empathy, depth, compassion and soulfulness. Heart breaking in its rawness and vulnerability. In the end...it always comes down to love
I still cry at this scene.
Kelsey Asbille is such a fine actress and this scene is just another example of her expertise. What a moving scene.
You got the fine part right! She is an absolutely gorgeous woman & yes, a good actress too.
I'm usually not a crier. I needed an entire box to get through this scene. Well done by Kevin and Kelsey Asbille.
Best show ever written 🙏🏽
This scene and the one in 1883 between captain and Elsa Dutton just emotionally hits man. Both scenes are so beautifully written by Taylor 👏
My son died at the age of 17. It was 9 years ago…he lived a perfect life. I hope he knew I loved him very much. But I miss him horribly and still missing. Thank you Yellowstone for having this moment - it is very powerful and emotional acting episode
If someone had said this to me when I lost my baby, it would have really helped. He would have been 29 this summer and it still hurts.
Thank you, actors of ‘Yellowstone’ for sticking the landing.
What also makes this scene better is they named their son John. That shows how far both John and Monica’s relationship has come since episode 1.😢
This was a great scene. Kevin nailed it.
Outstanding writing. Deep and profound and expertly delivered by Kevin Costner. No wonder I love this show so much!!!
Best scene in the entire series.
DAMNIT this is the second time I seen this scene and STILL I got teary-eyed. 😢😢😢😢
I cried during this.
Such a great scene
And the Emmy goes too🎉
This made me burst into tears
and THAT is writing and acting!!!!
I don't know who wrote this line in the movie.....Best scene from Yellowstone.... Something like..."He led a perfect life. He had a perfect life, even though for a very short time. All that he saw on this planet was you and all he knew was that you loved him. He led a perfect life." That's the Best!!!!! 🙌💜 That helped even 10 and 20 years later after my losses. 🙏
My sister just lost her newborn yesterday, two days after his birth. We had hope that he would pull through his ordeal, but it was not to be. The entire family is devastated. My brother shared this perfect clip and it brings some comfort to us, knowing that he did indeed have a perfect life and only knew love for the instant that he was on this planet. Hold your children close, because they are a blessing. There is no pain like this.
Only cried at 2 points of this show the scene where John’s dads dies and this one this was one powerful beautiful scene well done Sheridan
Makes me cry everytime
This is one of the best scenes in this whole show.
Beautiful. Thank you for making this great scenes ...
Best scene of the whole series
Beautiful moment. Well done.
Powerful, Powerful Words.
Yellowstone is a wonderful tv series it must continue. best regards from Switzerland 🇨🇭
What incredible writing!
Damn. That was by far the best thing I've seen in this show.
Just amazing I will love this show forever ❤️
Beautiful scene.
Watching this with my 3 month old sleeping near by I just wanted to ugly cry my eyes out
Heart breaking scene well done 😢
Beautiful scene
Very well done! Great writing, great acting! This is such a good show.
So sad. Can't stop bawling
this show... this writing.. this acting
Priceless ✨
Such a good scene
Perfectly done. Everyone. 🌟🌟🌟
Some of the story is so amazing. 😊
Damn, that was awesome.
Much Love...
Lovely!
What a great scene
This was a great story
Nobody’s talking about Beth came with John? That’s huge character development for her.
I’m crying 😭
This show is fictional but this is from someone’s heart. I’m so sorry to anyone who has ever lost one.
That is all of us. That is the way God wanted it. I don't think we'd understand the value of life if all we knew was eternity and eternal life from the get-go.
Wow ❤😢
I don't know why Monica gets so much hate from some people. She's a genuinely a kind and humane woman.
I think people blame Monica for Lee’s death according to her brother who killed him
Being a Widower or Widow. This scene hits hard. Can't imagine losing a child. I'm a widower.
I am glad they are giving Monica a bit of a redemption arc, Monica was always so selfish in her marriage to Casey, it was always about her and no matter what he did for her and her child she refused to give John a break until now. I really really disliked Monica until now.
*PRAYING* this is her turnaround point, and that some positive ground can finally be made with Jamie and Beth. So tired of that soap opera BS. It drags down Beth’s character
Not the case. Monica just saw thru the dutton BS and didnt want her family involved. Cant blame her. Also beth is a complete b****
Dean I would have said she was the worst actor in the ensemble. So tired of her whining and moaning. I almost cheer when she's miserable.
How people hate Monica I will never understand, she grew up hearing about the Duttons and she married the good one, she knew what life Casey would live if he went back to the ranch and what life Tate would have if he lived there. She was far from selfish and everything she did in the show was to protect Tate. It’s fucking ludicrous that people hate her for that
@@Theeditor2828she always had wisdom & boundaries & no fucks. Love her lol now Kayces character got annoying at times
Dangit boy Kevin Costner The Goat
On par with the Carousel monologue in Mad Men.
Men don't open up much - it's part of being a man in the real world. So when moments like this present itself it makes it so much more powerful and meaning ful. This isn't to say it a woman can't say some thing powerful or meaningful. It's just hits a bit deeper and harder from a man. My Dad and I had a moment similar to this before he dies. His words and emotions burnt an everlasting trait into me that I am so grateful I can share with my family for the last 20 years.
I stumbled on this video that I had bookmarked. Saw Lioness last night. In the past, I wondered if Taylor could only write westerns. Last night's Lioness with the father (a doctor), daughter in car wreck and more (no spoilers) and Jo... wow. Too big to be angry?! I wish I was able to think like that / speak like that. (so would my kids : )

I know how you feel.. beth needs a ticket to the train station .. imo
DUTTON FOR PRESIDENT!!! WE NEED MEN LIKE THIS LEADING US...I KNOW IT'S PRETEND, BUT WE CAN WISH FOR IT.
👍👍
Monica becomes the next John Dutton
What sunglasses is he wearing
I love this scene between John and Monica, but as John was walking over the graves of other past Duttons, I was looking for Elsa, James, and some of the other Duttons from the upcoming 1923 lol I’m probably the only one who did that 😅
Haha I did that too😂
@@Vwall007ST Lol 😂glad I’m not the only one
These words resemble what the Bible says about
children in Heaven..."They see the face of God, night
and day"
What happened who died
Did her and Casey son died?
rip's got some really tiny hands tho, look how small they are when he's got em on his hips as usual.
Yellowstone Beth got beat up
