“Morning, mama.”
“Hey, baby.”
Even though she vehemently denied it, we all knew that she felt maternal feelings for Carter.
that scared the hell out of her
I hate how they did this scene…we all know she not his momma…but she acts like it
When, Carter said, "Good Morning, Momma" when, Beth walked past him through the horse stalls, my heart just fell and cried for, Carter.....
And she instinctively says "Hey Baby...😬
Beth is fighting it. Rip is fighting it. But he is their kid.
One of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire series imo
I don’t understand why the hell she did that. He’s a mini Rip.
@@mckaelyntennison Dude exactly he now looks like a teenage Rip. Whenever they show Rip flashbacks I have to double check that it’s not Carter.
beth's hey baby was so genuine it caught me off guard 😭
😭😭😭
true - his mama was real and her baby was equal to it....she may come around yet
We still knew exactly how she felt about that boy after that scene was over, too. She fooled him but no one else.
Poor baby. I think she meant it about not feeling like she could be a mom, but she definitely loved him.
She loves that boy like her own, you can see it. I hope in season 5 her and rip adopt him as their own
The “morning, Mama” and “Hey, Baby” seemed so natural. Like it just rolled off their tongues. Like they didn’t even have to rehearse it. It made my heart full. Then Beth telling him to not call her that, hurting his feelings, made me wanna cry too. Like they are mother and son. Let him call you that.
I love how Beth is sitting on a “thank you for not smoking” sign on a bench while she’s smoking 😂😂😂😂
Hahah so good!! Love her character, well written show ❤
Beth has no idea how to be a mother, but she knows how to fight on someone’s behalf. That’s what she does in that first hospital scene. She fights on Carter’s behalf to get him what he needs; a clear explanation and a chance to say goodbye.
She doesn’t realise that’s much of being a parent. It’s you fighting the world to protect your kid.
I think Beth will come around and start seeing Carter as her adopted son. She's still too emotionally scarred but you can already see and feel her heart shifting. I love the whole Rip, Beth and Carter dynamic.
I don’t think they will ever have a mother son relationship. They’re two lost souls from two different times who fortunately crossed paths. Cause only we know how much they need each other.
Beth and Rip are not good people
@@codranine6054 I think they are exactly what they need to help them both heal old wounds.
@Mr Zimm I agree they may not be great people but let's face facts we deal with horrible people in real life everyday. That has nothing to do with having kids unfortunately.
@@Mr_Zimm The good people rarely do good things. When you have seen the world a lot one thing you realize it is those who have seen the worst are many times who has the insight to do the right thing. The average "Good" people does not have the frame of reference for the need of doing Good or what is the good thing to do if it hits them on their face.
“He’s kicking your ass and talking shit at the same time” 😂😂😂
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Her reaction after realizing Carter's words hit me every time
The emotions, a split second of joy followed by surprise, sadness and even fear show what a great actor Kelly is.
Which scene are you talking about
@@ashleytrout7452 the last one, with Beth and Carter, when he said "Morning, mama"
@@dmitrytannill7436 that was soo sweet, it’s even worse when she said “hey baby” so smoothly back to him
Imagine how badass of cowboy carter will be if he manages to survive being raised by Beth and Rip
Having both their traits, good and bad would be a lethal combo.
I love how Llyod has a thing for helping out the new guys like Jimmy and Carter. Out of everyone, his heart is the biggest.
He's like the bunk house grandpa. So sweet
@@Heck111yur One question remains. Is he truly in his late 50? Or does he refuse to acknowledge his true age? 🤣
@@tjjordan4207 it's obvious he just denies his true age you can tell when Rip was a teenager he was in his 40s then
@@johneverette699 Still, he looks good for someone that old, especially if he's in his 70s.
🤨 💭
Hmmm, that wasn’t a serious growth spurt during 9 months period. Remember the Indian girl announced she was pregnant at the end of season 4; then got into a car accident in season 5E1. Therefore, it is within 9months…
She’s been acting like she’s mama and she just needs to accept the love. She can make space. Especially since she took him in and started raising him right.
She's so gangster it hurts lol
I am so glad Beth took Carter under her wing, and that Rip finally came around to the idea. They really did save Carter's life! I love this kid!!! 😊🤗🤘❤
Wait till you see him in season 5!
When, Carter said, "Good Morning, Momma" when, Beth walked past him through the horse stalls, my heart just fell and cried for, Carter.....
Rip calls him son a lot of times.
I don’t think he means it in the general older man/young man dynamic either.
Both him and Beth need to get over their trauma and just accept him as the kid fate has given them.
@@nexpro6118 held his heart out to her.
Love the honesty of the characters in this show.
The way she said “hey baby” it just rolled off her tongue. 😭🥺 hopefully she’ll come around to it but idk. Poor things.
The kid’s acting is no joke! 👏
Yes better than Tate.
For real
"If there's a hell then you're in it.... I'll see you when I get there" That straight pit of hate and despair that a kid becomes
Truly, cause is addiction n amounts to putting ur habit before those ur "supposed "to care for n kids become alienated n resentful, hateful
It's tough when ur a kid n u don't always have words for understanding what ur feeling, emotions," you react . Carter's pretty cool all things considered 👍♥️
That's why I hate addict, alcoholic and smokers
@@crisostomoalmeida670 As do I.
Nope kids should ever, EVER have to say the things he said to his deadbeat excuse of a father.
I can't begin to imagine how i would have coped, or not coped, were I in that kid's position.
21:25 I like Carter turn to Rip for confirmation, like son and dad. Rip's laughing back is just the proof Carter's now his own boy
C - "Mornin, momma."
B - "Hi Baby."
🥰🥰❤
B -"You can't call me that"

I'm criying 😔😔😔
Funny that Beth doesn't want the title of mother, but she has been a mother to the whole family from Episode 1. Respect 🤠
Jerry Lee "Funny that Beth doesn't want the title of mother, but she has been a mother to the whole family from Episode 1. Respect"
Edit: "Chase" corrected to read "Kayce"
Jerry Lee, "respect" for sure👍🏼, but maybe for a different reason. She's more of a leader, 2nd to her dad, of the family. She would have been the tough no non sense son, if she had been a boy. She just seemed to have stepped up to assuming a leadership roll. Kayce, for a long time after getting out the military, wanted little and nothing to do with involving himself and his family with the ranch, much less to being eventual heir and leader. Jamie was essentially brought on board as a youngster and "adopted" into the family by John as a "son".
Taylor Sheridan, writes ALL the dialogue for all his shows including Yellowstone and the actors deliver the lines as written...with no deviations or improvisations. I mention that, because like many viewers, there may be a character the just gets on your nerves or we think that they need to be "gone". All that is in Taylor's hands. I have a theory about Beth. I see Beth as the Dutton family "Fixer". She is almost a superwoman, but like Superwoman or Superman, she can't be everywhere and "fix" everything, every time. Her "Kryptonite" may be that she doesn't believe she cannot "fix" everything. She seems to thrive on attacking problems and people. If she had been a guy,. she would have probably made a good special forces operator. People say that Beth is being seen too much lately in recent episodes. I'm wondering if it is a set us up to find her finally overwhelmed from trying to "fix" too many things. Beth is devoted her dad and all things Yellowstone. Between John and Rip, Rip is the one who has a way of reaching and talking sense to Beth. It may be Rip who may have to be there to "catch" Beth, if and when she hits her saturation point. She isn't going to be an example of a mother, in Carter's life, but he is observing that there is more to her than most see, based on her interaction and relationship with Rip. My apologies for blathering on so much.
She *does* want the life of a mother. She just doesn't want others to think/know that she does, lest she be be seen as weak.
Not the responsibility just to do an stop when wants to
You have Beth as a Mom, Rip as your dad Carter as your son. Perfect family.
Can’t tell you how much I love the symbolisms between him and Rip throughout the show. Rip even has a conversation about his long term plan in the side of the road, just like John had with rip when he was a kid.
The second Beth stopped after he called her mama, I honestly cried. She will never get to know that feeling of being a parent from a child of her own. Jaime took that away from her; plain and simple. Carter saw her as that and sadly, what Beth said is true that she is not his mother. I just wish she approached the situation differently with him.
I wish she took him to the side saying, “Carter, as much as it pains me to say this to you, I am not your mother. Please don’t call me that ever again. However I am your friend, Carter. You can count on that.” Thanks for uploading.
Never heard of an adoption?
@@gandres_07 Yes I have. Although that is not how the character Beth operates. Absolutely she can adopt Carter and he can call her mom. However at the end of the day, Beth knows she is not his real mother. Beth is a realist. And being one of the bloodlines to Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, Beth cannot give another line to the ranch like Kasey and Jaime can. Adopting Carter would be amazing and Beth can ensure Carter has a place at the ranch but when it comes to what Beth, Jaime and Kasey does for the ranch, Carter cannot do that. Although Carter can be the next Rip Wheeler of the business. A good hard working hand that is loyal beyond a shadow of a doubt.
She can be very black and white. A biological mom does not make you a mom roght away... just like family it is not always by blood... She too hung up on not able to have a baby and her own mother died. It stands in the way of something beautifull and fullfilling.. so sad....
even with this being a Carter highlight, I can't help but think... god damn Kelly Reilly is an amazing actress
Totally draws u in to the story, scene! So does everyone else too, great cast! 👏
Yessss, she is amazing!!!
"I have pirates working for me."
love that line.
Love it. Beth: "Lady, you crave trouble. You just don't want resistance. If you don't want resistance around here, you just mind your own business.""
Yes! 👏🏻
Man I want to move there. People not taking crap from others.

It broke my heart when she took back the hey baby. Like just be his mom
Just when you think it can't get better they add Carter.
Her "hey, baby" tears my heart apart
Her reaction was pure Beth, but Carter's reaction to it still breaks me
Finn Little does a beautiful job of portraying Carter. Love the character and hope to see more of him in Season 5 as he matures. Carter seems to have the best combination of qualities to lead the Dutton Ranch in the future, if it survives.
I really like Carter can't wait for season 5
When, Carter said, "Good Morning, Momma" when, Beth walked past him through the horse stalls, my heart just fell and cried for, Carter.....
I love the relationship the John and Carter are building. The last ride in season 4 had me in happy tears and I can't wait to see what happens in season 5
there's a novel and movie with both names (mentioned above) combined...
That one scene where Beth tells Carter she is not his Momma, to me is her most powerful scene. you can tell it broke her telling him that, yet knows it's for the best.
I love it. Not only does it show how she feels about herself but how carter gotten so comfy with her 😢❤
Whats that episode?
Seeing how Carter has grown on the ranch is nice. I wanna see him and Tate interacting. I think they would be good for each other. And when Rip told Carter that they don't get rid of orphans on this ranch and the way Rip looked at him made me happy.
I wanna see them fight to the death😂

Apparently, John wants this kid to shut up and ride. Besides, talking is not concentrating.
If hypocritical.
@@monteagudoabeezekieljardie7884. John didn’t mind talking, he did kind how much Carter was cursing
I worked with a lot of kids like Carter, which is a sad statement on our society. The writing on this show is spectacular, and the actors bring it to life in an amazing way. That scene where Beth and Carter meet, and she takes on the role of "friend of family" is something.. All she has lived through goes through her mind, and all she watched Rip go through, and she realizes at that moment Carter is at a fork in the road, and she steps up, stretches way beyond her comfort zone and enters his world. She fires out at that doctor with both barrels, and claims her position with all the force she has.
I didn't see that happen but once or twice
This is what makes her character so interesting.
Something tells me we will see Carter get a haircut this season, we will see him grow a bit, and he might show signs of understanding the chance he has been given, both good and bad. I think he will embrace it all full tilt, like kids do, especially desperate ones...and then as clarity comes, he will come to understand exactly what it means.
Dam ! Well said! U have the gift of gab, heartfelt 👏♥️
Beautifully put 👍
She is his mama, but, since she can never have children, it is too painful for her to adopt the title. But, regardless of what she says, she is his mama - mama by choice - now and until the end of time. And Lord help anyone who tries to do him wrong while she still walks the earth.
Wait... Why does he have to get a haircut?!
I bet he becomes a Michael Corleone type of character.
At first I thought they were being incredibly abusive to him. But then I realized he never had a figure in his life to teach him tough love and be truly parented. The way they do it is probably the best way unfortunately.
Not unfortunately. He was tough already but had zero self worth, having to earn something set him up for life.
Idk if Kenzie meant making him work. which was definitely good for him. Beth was too hard on him in the store, but she has her own anger issues and he upset her by responding to the woman accusing her of abuse. I'm glad they worked it out, and he now has numerous different adults to look after him and teach him different things.
Yeah it's like he just doesn't respect boundaries or know his place , like with the shirt
And Beth don't play n going to pull that shirt off of him n let him know, it's my way or the high way! Tough love, well striped! I truly love this show 👏♥️
@@whitespirit26 I humbly disagree hon, I was one like Carter n couldn't, wouldn't take no for n answer n u needa be straightened out or it leads to stealing n disobedience in many forms ☮️And scripted in, it shows itself. Really great writing
You don't sound like Carter, he started listening to them before the shirt incident.
The hospital room scene was 2:30 minutes long. There was so much packed into that scene. From strangers to friends to family.
Boy the look on Carter's face when she says she's not his momma kills me...
Carter's actor is amazing. You can really feel the pain in his eyes...
Omg this is exactly what happened to me, except no one saved me. Parents died when I was a child, and it took me decades, decades, to dig myself out from that hole.
But ur still here to speak bro, Survivor! ♥️👏
Sorry but you made it
Sending you so many hugs ❤️ my older brother died 12 years ago (yesterday) back when I was 19 in a motorcycle crash, and my mom died this past November from non smoker’s lung cancer. I thought nothing in the world could compare to the pain of losing my brother so suddenly, but losing my mom, who was such a beautiful soul to such a dreadful disease so gradually cut me deep in ways I never imagined. My dad and I are still coming to terms with the sudden loss of her, four months after she was diagnosed.
I hope things ever only go up from here for you filled with joy and light❤️.
❤❤❤
I love how the kid needs to learn how to self regulate, solely to avoid being punished, but the adult doesn’t have that rule for herself
That last scene hurts so much.
John at some point explained, that he calls Jamie his 'son' because John did everything that was in his power to earn this role. Beth and Rip not wanting to be called Mom/Dad by Carter, is because they wouldn't call him their 'son' (yet).
Ive been searching for these scenes on youtube for months. Brings back so many memories. Top class acting Well Done.
Love the part at the beginning, where Beth is sitting on the bench, and it says thank you for not smoking, and yet she lights one up!
I love how everyone relates and parents this kid correctly.
We all know one day Beth let him call her momma🥰😍❤️
Not Rip being so proud of Carter kicking everyone's ass at poker 🤣😭😭
I love how Carter is not good, he’s difficult and have a purpose, to taught BETH something in life 😊
"The kid sure likes it"
"The kid?"
Lmao
My favorite part is when she compliments his style and when he denies having any. She corrects him, cause it’s hers too.
He’s the missing piece Beth and Rip needed…
Really, that kid they can't make 👏 Can't wait for more 👍
When Beth told him not to call her mom, it sort of broke my heart. And then they never addressed it. Wtf.
That last scene was stone cold... This is why I love Beth!
I wasn't angry at her bc I understood her reasons, but I wanted to hug the poor kid so badly.
@@whitespirit26 That's cuz you're a feminine gal.. Beth would only dare to be feminine and vulnerable around Rip and that's cuz he's monster.. the only one that can match (and surpass) her ruthlessness

The way things are set, Yellowstone could have a storyline set for about 10-15 years. The Tate-Carter dynamic is exciting to me, if done right. Could be Tate vs Carter too. I hope this is explored
Hope Carter turns into Rip for Tates Kaycee
@@Mark-ki7ic a scenario that intrigues me is if Tate’s mom’s side influences him into taking control of the ranch and letting them settle on it and Carter (the outsider) steps up for the Duttons to lead the fight to regain it
I just hope they dont put Tate against Carter as i think it would be a bad thing in my opinion. If it happens i think it may partially ruin the story line between those 2 characters. I dont see how it would actually add anything positive and really just kind of be a bad bump in the road. I think it would almost be a obligatory story line that really wouldnt do any good or add more to the show.. just my open ended opinion.
Yes! I'm real excited and interested to see how theor dynamic goes
Now I'm imagining Carter meeting Tate. The two enjoying each other's company as time passes. Carter being an older brother figure for Tate; and maybe showing him how to play a little poker.
This missed a couple good moments.
1. Rip telling him when he saddles the horse wrong that if he doesn’t know something, to ask……and MIND YOUR FUCKING MANNERS.
2. Walker asking him if he wants to be a cowboy. When he responds “life’s pretty much robbed me of my options” and him saying “yea, that’s how it usually starts”
Big hypocrisy about the swearing.
My favorite Carter quote is
‘I know what I wanna be when I grow up.’
Jake: ‘What’s that kid?’
Carter: Him, I wanna be him’
Jake looks toward Rip and Carter says ‘No, him’ and points to John.❤️
i STILL cant get over the fact that Rip is Johns from riddick.................just BLOWS my mind.
What did I miss
That was bill the butcher from the boys
In season 5 forgot the episode he casually now calls Carter her" Baby"
I can’t wait for the next episode to come out…. Please keep this show going….
Beth, Rip, and Carter all dealing with their trauma’s in their own way…. Theirs between them and Carter in their own ways….
That's a brutal ending to his evolution.
I've never even seen this show and I'm in love with all 3.
Underneath all of the strength from her father, I feel like she really just secretly wants to be the woman her mother wasn’t and to have the family she never got to have
When carter is playin cards and rip behind him smiling reminds me of me and my dad when we played cards with hands on our ranch or with family
Carter was such a good addition to Yellowstone! Love the show and development of characters by Sheridan. He has a great way of painting stories and showing emotions and people's inner truths, for fiction, that is! Great stories!
I didn't knew this series existed until now. But man these writers and actors know how to do it right. It frightening. These characters are genuine as f**k.
Rip is just a solid dude... favorite character
Absolutely right! “You give flowers for no reason” ❤
The instant Hey Baby Reply she had a content look on her face for a fleeting second then reality slammed home
You got it. There was so much in just that quick look on her face (says a lot about her acting skills). A lot of nuances dating back to HER life as a kid specifically how her mother died and her inability to have kids. It's all in there. At first she liked hearing (maybe been longing to hear) then you can see the impact of her mother wash over her face. Great acting on both parts. He and Tate are the future of yellowstone
You know, the way that woman was holding that phone up made me so angry. What do they think that recording somebody is going to do? Maybe it'll put somebody in jail later but it ain't going to save them right now! 😂😂
Hoping beth would slugger

This gets me so emotional
It saddens me that Beth doesn't want to be Carter's Mama, When John thought of Rip as a son when he gave him the cabin. It's the same dynamic, hopefully we see this relationship bloom in the new season. Especially when Carter comes off as a young Rip all over again.
I really like that young man.
