It seems like there were two constants on the show. Charles would give an entertaining 😂 response, and Brett would need the 😠 question explained to her.
contestant nancy got smart on her 5th try at the big money. 9:55 you can see her listening to richard write with the marker, the answer being a short word. it think it tipped her off .
H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our champion secures her fifth victory today thanks to a bra. (Another tried-and-true MG answer.) Today's audience match question: "One for ________ " (the road, the money, the record books.) The celebs: Brett (the money), Bonnie (all), and Fannie (the road) The choice: The road The answers: All, The road, The money Our unpredictable champ continues to rotate through all the celebs for her audience match suggestions, today returning to Brett whom she hadn't called on since last week, and finally getting to Fannie, the last new celeb this week she hadn't called on yet. Recapping her H/H match history: 1) Richard (no match); 2) Clifton Davis (match); 3) Patty Duke Astin (no match); 4) Richard again (still no match). And for her fifth attempt, she chooses... Richard for the third time! "I think I'll go with Richard until I get it right," she says. Richard has been on a somewhat unlucky streak lately. He's only matched once in his past seven attempts. Today's H/H question: "_______ Pump" (Water? I can't think of anything more obvious right now.) It doesn't take long for Richard to begin writing his answer. It's a very short answer, and now I'm thinking he may have written "oil." The champion says "gas." Wow, I feel dumb now. Gas pump is much better than oil pump, and it's a nice, short answer which fits what I saw Richard writing. I think she has a great chance of winning the $2,500 today! And the audience seems to agree. Yes! "Gas"! Richard scores his 159th H/H match today. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 50% (17 wins in 34 attempts). Charles - 47.7% (21 wins in 44 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 41.8% (23 wins in 55 attempts). Richard - 40.7% (159 wins in 391 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 677, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Being now 56 years old, I watched a number of these episodes when they were first broadcast, and from that day to this I have had the same reaction: BRETT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! Even as a young child, I couldn't stand her constant hogging of the spotlight by demanding that EVERY SINGLE PUZZLE be repeated to her, as well as her sadly mistaken assumption that this was The Brett Somers Show rather than Match Game. How Jack Klugman and Charles Nelson Reilly lasted so long without slapping her must forever remain a mystery.
Jason, No one would have watched if all the celebrities were sweet and kind. It would have been boring. BTW, I'm 71 and watched the show when it originally aired.
How dull can you be. Brett and Charles were great friends and if you can't see through that then why are you watching. And it's not a puzzle it's a question.

How can Bonnie be STUMPED every time...like ffs she's awful 9except for the super match. It's so weird! lol). JJ is awful but at least he's entertaining... Joyce is terrible too and that black dude Brett always mentions.
This is 1970’s culture in real time.
Old and the Toothless. I was with Fanny.

This show had constant technical issues.
Nancy is really attractive. Easy on the eyes.
Jack Klugman was a smart man.
cuz he divorced her?
If he was really smart he would not have married her to begin with.LOL😂😂😂😂
IF JACK WAS SMART... HE WOULD NOT HAVE NEEN A ABUSIVE WIFE BEATER AND A RAGING ALCOHOLIC
@@billwheeler7243 sez who ? You? Although it would be tempting with Brett
Try Brett Somme's was a smart woman.
Am I the only one who always thought that Bonnie Franklin was a cutie?
Nope, but being a bit younger, I was more into Valerie Bertinelli.
