@@KevinPare Funny you should comment on this tonight, Kevin. I just happened to find out tonight that Scoey passed away last month. 😔😔. He was always fun and funny. I believe it's more an age thing. Many people, maybe most, find their favorites while in their 20s and stick with them, but new mixed drinks are invented all the time. I think the 7&7 was a Seagram's early 70s creation. I'm pretty sure I remember magazine and TV ads showing it. It was less fuss to make compared to whiskey sours.
End-of-week H/H match recap: ... Today's action: It's a fourth victory for our champion today. Today's audience match question: "_______ Seven" (My thoughts: Lucky, 7 &, ....?) The celebs: Susan (Magnificent), Richard (Lucky), and Fannie (The seven dwarfs/ unlucky seven/ c'mon seven) -- Richard got his answer from Gene's hint, and poor Fannie really didn't have an answer. The choice: Magnificent (the 1960 western starred Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, and Charles Bronson) The answers: Seagram's, Magnificent, Lucky Our champion seems to have an affinity for finding the middle answer... On to the H/H match. She's chosen Richard three times so far. The first time was a miss, but the second and third times were wins. I can't imagine she'd choose anyone else at this point... This is now Richard's tenth consecutive go at the H/H match. If he matches today, it'll be three in a row. The last two times that he scored three matches in a row were episodes 578, 580. and 581 (there was no H/H match played in 579), and again in episodes 653 and 654 (there were two H/H matches in 654). The longest winning streak I can find for him is six in a row (517, 519, 520, 522, 523, & 525 -- either there was no H/H match or someone else played in the intervening episodes). I also see a streak of six losses in a row, from 502 through 507. Disclaimer: I started a more detailed record-keeping system with 496, so I can't easily check streaks prior to that episode. Today's H/H question: "Spider _______ " (I'll say web.) The camera isn't terribly cooperative, so I can't really see much of Richard while he's writing, but it seems to be a short, quick response. As he usually does, he looks over at the sixth seat after filing his card. The champ says "legs." Definitely a valid answer, but I think it's less likely than web. The audience responds with a huge groan. I heard Brett say "Sweetheart!" in a sad tone. Despite her reputation for being loquacious, Brett almost never remarks on a contestant's H/H response (unless she's playing). The camera cuts to Richard looking to the right of the screen with a bemused smirk on his face. I'm guessing he didn't match... Yup. It's "Web." No match today. ~~~So we close out the week with 5 H/H matches this time. Of those 5 attempts, 2 matched: Richard 2/5 Yes, it was yet another all-Richard H/H week (second time in a row, both times he scored 2/5), so an uneventful week in that department. Looking back to episode 501, this was the 14th week (of 37 weeks total) that only Richard has been chosen for the head-to-head match. Scoey Mitchell finished his seventh week still without playing the H/H. (But he did get to sit in the #3 chair for a day!) He has five weeks left. Susan Howard ends her brief MG career also without ever having a chance at the H/H. ~~~Looking ahead to next week, our three regulars will be joined by: --Semi-regular Betty White, back after a four-week absence. She has a 50% accuracy rating in the H/H so far. --Orson Bean, returning for his eleventh week (of 16). We last saw Orson in episodes 581-585, and he currently holds the distinction of having the absolute best H/H track record (100% - 4 out of 4) of all 11 stars who have so far matched at least three times. If he were to miss his next try, he would fall to 80%, which would drop him to second place, just below Gary Burghoff's current 83.3%... --Finally, we have a new "one-and-done" guest panelist in the fourth seat: Pat Delany. ~~~Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 50% (17 wins in 34 attempts). Charles - 47.7% (21 wins in 44 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 41.8% (23 wins in 55 attempts). Richard - 40.6% (162 wins in 399 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 685, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Fannie's sign says 'hello flordia'. She also answered _____ seven with "the seven dwarfs". A woman with a very distinct form of dyslexia wrote Fanny and she DID have this form of dyslexia and never knew and was treated. Went on to be a bestselling author.
Yeah, a lot of people complain about spelling on the show, and yes, it's horrendous all around, but I give Fannie a pass because she had a disorder that she was later able to overcome as shown in her later accomplishments. Plus, she's FANNIE!
Kind of a slow week this week but Richard keeps his title again by winning the week for the regulars giving away 8,000 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 16 matches. Susan won for the semi regulars with 11 matches and giving away 250 dollars in audience match match. Brett also gave away 250 dollars in an audience match match.
Oh look. Richard's wardrobe change turned up! I assume his manager or somebody drove over to the studio with his clothes after he filmed the previous four episodes in the same powder blue turtleneck and navy blue jacket. He was also in awfully good spirits all week, and looked well. (Sometimes he has huge bags under his eyes and seems cranky.)

Fannie 1,000 dollars and 8. Bill Daily 500 dollars. Total at the point of the season is 145,750 dollars (85,550 more than 73, 14,600 more than 74, 6,050 dollars more than 75) spread over 14 panelist.
If you think about it, it's a sneaky big deal where the individual panelists sit. The person in the top left seat, for example, probably gets more opportunities than anyone else to end a game by breaking tie. You wouldn't put Patti Deutsch there.
While I think order matters for entertainment value and affects game length, I don’t think it matters at all for scoring, because each celeb’s answers are independent of those revealed before them. You could swap Patti in #6 with someone great from #1-say, George Kennedy-and you’d get the same exact outcome for the contestants. I’m awful at stats & probability, though, so someone may want to check my math here.
