- It is time to add some protection!
In this video, I will show you the crash guards from the Romanian company Heavy Duties. They have two options for Yamaha 700 - Enduro and Adventure. We are going to mount them both and show you on practice what they protect. Are they really necessary? In my opinion, not but might help in certain situations.

One like for the video and another one for your positive mechanic - Plamen!
So many reviews on lower crash bars, but too few guys actually layed their bikes down after the install. Thank you!
Any time!
Hi Pavlin,
When you drop a bike the bars are normally turned thus reducing the ground clearance even further.
Also, off road many times when you drop your bike it falls on a slope. This is when the upper crash bars are needed.
I don't like the extra weight and close proximity to the knees but have ordered a set for my 2022 Tenere.
Thanks for the videos and safe travels from Australia...
Great to see both crash guards mounted next to each other on identical bikes, Pavlin. Both look sturdy enough for offroad usage, but your smaller version lokks better in my opinion.
Thanks, Günter from a today grey Nürnberg/Germany
Thanks for taking the time, Günter!
It's been a few years since I've seen one of your videos and I was so happy to see that you're killing it!! Hell yeah man. I wish you the best
Thanks, man!
Pavel I liked the video tricks at the start of the video. A full shield protects not only from slipping, these from one of the common fault: A fall in parking lot, or a fall at a low speed, then depending what the motorcycle falls on, perhaps on a sidewalk protruding from the road. Such a blow due to the weight of the motorcycle may cause big damage. My motorcycle fell in the parking lot because the kickstand sank in a hole that opened in the road, and the fuel tank received a strong blow from the concrete pillar. No motor shield would have helped in this regard. I'm not fan of engine-shields too, but you brought us a beautful review. It was very interesting to watch. Thank you very much.
P.S. Your mechanic friend does a really nice job, and he's a great mechanic. I love his workshop.
Thanks for taking the time!
To crash bar or not to crash bar....great subject! I'm in the process of deciding to take my OEM crash bars off the bike in order to save weight, but also because it is near impossible to get the side plastics off without removing the crash bars, and I want to install a more appropriate clutch arm, which the OEM bars will not accommodate. But, will allow that they are nice for attaching other small bags to! Cheers Pavlin!
Glad to help, Allen!
Surprising how well the smaller, lower mounted bars perform. And they are lighter and less intrusive. It is not really a choice now. The lower, lighter bars perform better overall. The evidence is there to see.
Good one 👍
Happy travels
Totally agree! Thanks for taking the time again, Richard!
I am not sure about that in case you fall over on a slope
In a real crash the motorcycle will make contact completely.
The bars on the black bike look better for sure, but the advantage of those on the white bike is you can strap soft luggage bags to them, a popular thing for some riders. Both sets look good quality though
Thanks for sharing!
I always like the look of the crash bars on adv bikes. And my crash bars are already paid for, with the two drops I had, and the money saved on plastic covers
Good!
Really interesting to see options and what you can do with a motorcycle.. And a great mechanic..
Glad you like it!
Hello Pavlin, I think your "test" @ 10:28 isn't realistic, because the handlebar is not turned. If you fall, normally the handlebar is completely turned which lowers the distance to the ground, so at least the solution on your bike possibly doesn't protect the fairing.
True
It doesn't matter where the handle bar is the fairing cannot be touch.
@@motorcycleadventures It does in offroad conditions. I have crash tested it a few times ;-)
There is no way to protect on 100%, unless you add too much weight, which I don't want to do. Lower crash guard is more than enough for me.
When my T700 goes down in a crash I always manage to throw myself under the bike so as to give extra protection.
Mate. I'd love to see a video with you explaining all those trophies. I'm sure there're some great stories amongst them.
They belong to my mechanic Plamen. He is one of the best enduro riders in Bulgaria.
The benefit of the high crash bars you get more lifting points to grab also you can mount more gear. Me personally I don't like the clanking of the wheel lock or the looks. I would go with the low bars. Maintenance with the high bars could be an issue getting in the way when you want to work on your bike.
Thanks for taking the time!
Another good video.
So easy to watch 👌
Your videos inspires me to go adventures with my Bmw F650.
Glad you like them!
After dropping your bike few times you will love crash bar's:) I added plastic sliders at top point . Top bar protection works good on uneven, rocky surface.
Okay
Can i see the Sliders you mentioned?
The upper crash bars provide much needed support since they connect at the top, if you research lower crash bars you will see that most of them bend inwards when the bike is dropped and need to be replaced.
This lower model, with these 3 support points cannot bend that easy.
I must look at this company, I've been looking for some bars for my r1200 gs.
Perfect timing.
Glad to help!
It will be interesting to see how much the bikes weighs once all accessories have been added and a full tank of fuel
Ride safe my friend
I'm hoping to finally meet you some time this year
I will let you know. So far I added about 5-6kg.
I have just spent two hours fitting engine bars to my bike and then saw this film on your channel. I wish I had a mechanic to help! The low bars look excellent but I think the higher ones spoil the look of the bike. I would also be concerned that if you were thrown forward that the upper bars could smash against your knee and cause injury.
Thanks for sharing, Paul!
Great review. I know it passed a long time, but do you know what is the total weight of the HIGH crash bars and what is the total weight of the LOW crash bars? I looked on the website but found no such info.
5.5 for the upper 4.5 for the lower.
thanks!
As always another useful video ✌
Glad to hear that!
I’m a big fan of crash bars. My big was saved Twice from damage in the last 5 years.
Each model has its own advantages and disadvantages. Personally I would prefer "red" as I have a similar one in my old Tenere 660.
True
Nice vid; I think the high bars wil be more effective in case you fall on a steep slope. It comes with a price. I am not sure whether or not to mount any bars on my XT660ZA With OEM luggage cases. I think good handguards should do. Hopefully I will not get regrets...
Thanks for the video!
How many kg are the lower/enduro bars?
4.5kg
Thanks for the quick reply@@motorcycleadventures
Hello Pavlin. Thank you for your helpful and interesting videos. Many sources do not speak well of the T7 front suspension. What is your opinion about it and do you plan to change front cartridges?
I do not plan any upgrades of the suspension at the moment. It is fine for 95% of the riders, 95% of the time. I hope that you understand what I mean!
Hi Pavlin, great video. I’m interested in the enduro bars, how have you found them since you’ve mounted them and how have they performed? Thanks
Luckily I never need to test them, but ergonomically I like them.
Hello Pavlin . How are you. I have a question. Friends have Blue tooth so they can talk to each other. I have never been a fan of this as it seems like a distraction and I prefer to have all my attention on the road ahead and all around me. You thoughts please
Bluetooth is a great system and I will say it is a must have if you travel with a friend or in a group.
nice video! maybe you know if the enduro bars are compatible with the world raid??
Not sure. Ask the company, link in the description.
Thank you for that useful video.
I really wonder what's the weight of those low crashbars. Those look good and practical. Do you know its weight?
About 3 kg
@@motorcycleadventures , 3kg total left + right sides, right?
Yes.
Good analysis/review .
Thanks!
Very good! only the cow does not change its mind. You judge for yourself whether it's OK.
I agree!
Nice, Pavlin. You had both motorcycles resting on the bar ends, that would generally not be the case in a fall.
In facts this will be the case in 99% of the drops.
@@motorcycleadventures
Yeah because physics dictates longitudinal velocity of the bike would turn the handlebars if the bar end touched down while moving. Maybe if you drop from a standstill it might stay on the bar end if it lands just right. I'm falling in dirt usually with speed on unsmooth unflat surface so never had one land and stay on the bar end ever that I can remember in fifty years of riding. You may be lucky and not fall, or have it land perfectly if you do fall. Not me. Tank sufferers most every time, what can I say. Life is crazy! Cheers!
To make it convincing push each bike over onto the concrete floor on left and right sides. Whenever I go into a showroom and bikes have crash protection fitted I always ask, "Is it OK if I just push it over?" Nobody has said "Yes" yet, so I'm never tempted to buy a new bike.🕊
I don't need to convince anyone!
Thank's for the infos, i wonder if the lower crash bar fit's with the Yamaha heavy duty skid plate BEH-F84R0-00-00 - Aluminium?
Yes, it will.
One time I hit a big rock that throw my handlebars and front wheel to the side so much I ended up squezen between 2 trees on the side. Thanks to high crash bars there was no damage at all :-) Without them I would have crashed plastics for sure. Hope for the best but plan for the worst, right?
Glad to hear that the accident finished without any serious problems!
pavlin, the water pump protection is actually very dangerous, it would rip off the screws and damaging the screw housing. otherwise the crash bars are good idea man, this moto needs them
I thought the same but when you have a closer look you will understand that it is not that easy yo brake it.
This is the way
Both of them look nice but I believe the Yamaha OEM offer the best protection.
Fair enough but I just don't like them.
The stock one is not efficient, it bend quickly.
I have the aftermarket ones and they do bend in. Also impossible to remove plastic panels without loosening all mounting bolts. I like the look of these smaller bars. On OEM ones, you don't need the upper protection as they don't come close to the ground.
Interesting in that all aftermarket ones I have investigated, none use the larger upper engine bolt to mount like the OEM ones do.
I was surprised you are putting crash bars on the bike. You have always been weight conscious, but the T7 does have more power. I have been always glad i had crash bars on my KLR650. If you ever bend your crash bars imagine the damage without Them.
As I said, I never liked them, but these looks strong, they are almost invisible and not that heavy.
How many kilograms have you added so far?
With center stand and luggage rack about 5-6 kg. I travel light so this is not a problem.
Except if you move the bars to ten side, the difference will be more?
It is not.
So the real question is. Are the low crash bars worth it? Or should you not use any?
Only the time will show us!
A lot of guys reporting that for its weight and size the Teneree is a very difficult bike to lift, especially on muddy trails, when dropped due to its high c of g. How do you find it?
First of all this is not a motorcycle for muddy trails! Second, I am 185cm 105 kg, for me is fine.
@@motorcycleadventures Lots of people ride them off road on the TET, TAT, etc. ........... maybe that is the problem?
I've got one. Technique is key. I'm 70kg 1.90M, dropped it many times also in mud. Just don't go too hard with it, it's a ADV not a big dirtbike(enduro)
Exactly! Anything above 120kg is already too heavy.
I'm 1.87m and my knees hit the Altrider bars on my XT1200. I have to have knee pads in or it becomes uncomfortable to ride.
Remove it! XT 1200 got very small and tough stock protectors.
When bike fall inside of car trail it hit high berm (between the ruts or left or right) exactly where gas tank is. Lower protection doesn't help there.
None of them protects on 100%!
I guess it does the job
I hope I will never find out!
9:20 did they not test at all their own product...?
This problem is fixed the new models.
@@motorcycleadventures Hello Pavlin! Did the company confirm that they fixed the problem? Did you ever have a chance to test the new version of Heavy Duties T7 crashbars? Many thanks in advance!
Use long pliers to hold the spacer!,!,!!
Pavlin, The bars look nice, but the profile is so narrow. It fails to protect your legs, handle bars, mirrors and all the controls for the throttle, clutch and brakes.
If you "Low side" the bike. Your leg could get trapped between the bike and pavement. Leaving you with a crippling injury. If you look @ my thumb nail photo.
It shows the crash bar set I have. They're much wider in profile. The bars works and I was able to walk away from a 50Kph "low side crash. I understand your
bike a is a dual sport and that you ride off road at times. Just giving my humble opinion based upon real world experience. Cheers, Mate.
I am sorry jack but there is no way to add so much metal on my motorcycle.
@@motorcycleadventures Pavlin, no worries mate. I believe the weight for my bars was 16Kg total.
You do what is right for right for you. You have way more real world experience and travels.
Hence I learn from you and that has been a lot. Cheers, Mate.
16kg?!!! My total luggage for long trips is 15kg, 20 if I add the tent.
Are they available in the US? There’s no shipping option. . .
I don't know. Ask the company.
Wrong conclusion ! When the bike falls is not the same as you putting it on the ground. Take for a ride and drop it on purpose or have somebody with professional skills do it for you and then see the damage. When you put crash bar is to protect the bike not to save money or weight. I have a skid plate, lower and upper crash bars and one day it happened, I fell ! and the protection on my bike did its job !!! With that fall I found out I made a good investment. I know that some people don't like the way they look but I put them on not to look pretty but to do a job, they already did. Ride Safe.
Do you think that I haven't dropped any bike so far? Or you choose to believe that the accident that you have will be always the same and guards will always protect you? It would be even better if you have an armored cage around it. In many cases, the guards create more damage than without it. Good investment? For the price of skid plate, upper and lower crash guards you would change the plastics at least 3 times.
I must say that I am surprised. Are those lower crash bars compatible with Yamaha tenere rally skid plate?
Yes they are!
as much as i prefere the look of the first one id have the second one to just for the safety of not just the engine but most of all on the side with the fuel and cooler sorry just my opinion.
Fair enough!
Darth Vader from 0:00 to 1:26
Cool!
NO MORE ADS PLEASE
It is easy, just don't watch UA-cam!
Apparently if you watch on a laptop you get less adverts. Or even use an ad blocker
This was a very useful video for me as I’m buying these enduro bars after seeing this video. They look so good and seem to protect enough for my needs.
I don’t see this only as an ‘add’ for the company but also very useful information for us moto travelers. Pavlin is not doing a shampoo commercial here! :D
this high mounted crash bars is a waste, unless you want to hand something on it.
Some people like it!
Hahaha tenere 700..... Bene 👍🍻
Thanks for taking the time!
I would take down the second crash guard and send it back, it is bad designed
Well... it is what it is!
i love how i can hear the breathing of the camera man
Cool!
