@@africanqueen6554 Nonsense. We are not marrying total strangers. Even in arranged marriages we get the entire background of the potential spouse and background details of the family. In this case, its even more detailed than love marriage. A lot of women have married only to know the man they loved was not who he told he was. Arranged marriage is actually a lot safer than love marriage these days. Particularly with cases like love jihad.
The mother-in-law is beautiful. While her son is an example of the negative stereotypes of Indian men, she is a reflection of Indian mothers. I've seen them give up the lives they are used to to follow their kids abroad and help them. I've seen them struggle with language barrier and cultural barriers aside from the financial strain of living abroad and yet they wear smiles as pretty as their traditional clothing.

I'm an Indian and I totally accept what you said. In our culture men are not like that. Most of men cook clean n all of that. But I don't know what happened to this man! Wrong upbringing, no values and integrity. That Korean women is so nice and forgiving .. I feel bad for her. She deserved so much more.

And most Indian mothers do play a big part in raising them so. It’s unfortunate but true. What’s changing is that there’s an increasing no of Indian men who can cook and help at home. But his mom is genuinely lovely and beautiful with a sense of humour too.

You gotta change if you want to be loved. But in this case, I don't see love unfortunately. Because love changes you to bring the best out. For the first time in a Korean related family reality type of show the Husband really is annoying and lazy .But I'm very proud of the team for not editing anything out and making it REAL. It's a great way to educate and bring into light different types of family. The Mother-in- law is so blessed to have such a caring and loving Daughter-in- law. Tomorrow is International Womens Day and the wife needs to be uploaded for being strong, resilient and for being such a loving woman💕
And why isn't the daughter in law blessed to have such a lovely mother in law who is pulling the weight for her son and providing support to daughter in law by looking after her baby???

I saw an Indian commercial where an Indian grandfather is watching the interaction between his son & his Indian daughter in law. The son is sitting watching tv. The wife runs in from work starts cooking, watching the kids, checking homework, bringing her husband things. He keeps looking at his son who never moves. He seems amazed. Then he goes home and his wife is emptying the clothes drier. He goes & grabs the basket & to her amazement he says let me help you. This reminded me of Mani & his cultural upbringing.

the lullaby 10:41 would be the same one my mom would sing to me when I was young. I am Indian Canadian. just hearing that brought back so many memories that I have completely forgotten about. A mother's love is so important and should be cherished.

I also like the Mother-in-law a lot. She is a very nice, calm Indian lady, helping her son's family selflessly. I also like the way Jeongmi handles things with Mom-in-law despite the cultural difference. That's because of the Asian family values underneath it all.

I understand why it’s so appealing to marry someone younger because I have personally seen women I know marry younger men. If they are not mature then you can kiss a sound marriage goodbye. She is such a hardworking women and their daughter deserves better. Men like this will never change or try to charm you until they get their freeloading ways.

Not really. India is much more diverse than you'd like to believe and there are quite a few men like him. Parents play an important role - they know men like him are losers who can't take responsibility and their perfect solution for that is to get their son married. You have heard it, haven't you? Getting married so that ladla beta can become responsible. Which of course never happens because men like him are too accustomed to the lifestyle.

I agreed 101%. My husband is Punjabi Indian. He makes me the best aloo paratha and Lassi. His family is so much fun to be with. My husband does most of the work when he is available.

I don't know how long ago this was aired, but I would like to see a follow up. I dont3have a good feeling seeing Jeongmi accept another family member into their home. Hopefully it was temporary & both in-laws went back to India. She worked in a hospital (probably fulltime) and her husband is dragging his feet in business while out socialising with friends every weekend. 🤦♀️ That baby's cheeks sure are cute though.

I'm Indian and I'm really pissed, like what? Mani calls his mom there before settling down! That's unacceptable, this guy is lazy he have lot of works to do and so many things to change in himself. That's great! Mani is just an ass. He was raised to be a man child. I don't think age has anything to do with it but the level of a person's maturity and knowing their responsibilities. My mom is 12 years younger than my dad. They both raised 5 children. He never stopped her from pursuing her career and even moved to several countries because of her job. Both are very hardworking people that worked very hard and shared responsibilities. It's rare to find couples who are like that nowadays.

Asked his mother to bring him a glass of water? Please, I think kindergarteners have better sense of responsibility than he does.
This show "my neighbour Charles" should do a follow up show after a year or two. Would love to see if this couple still stay together. Looks like many people feel this guy is a jerk and using the Korean wife.

I feel sorry for the other Indian people(doctors, nurses, engineers..etc) living in Korea that are actually hardworking. If you're in a foreign country, you have to work harder than people around you if you want to integrate and survive. There are already several sterotypes about India, now this guy has added a few more by lying to his wife about Indian culture on public TV.
This guy is just lazy and was coddled by his mom. In reality, like most asian countries, Indians value success and stability. Thats why a lot of them work hard to enter into stem or other successful careers.

I like Jeongmi, she seems understanding and has a good heart. Mani frustrates me a lot! He's LAZY. He needs to start helping more with the baby & chores! He also needs to adapt the Korean speed of doing things - no more being slow! And his acting dream has to go. He's not even in Bollywood, so it's totally unrealistic! He needs to focus on something that pays the bills and brings food on the table. Lastly, him hanging out with his friends can lead to many bad things, so that has to go too.
I like Mani's mom though, she seems lovely! Let's hope she manages to keep her son on the right track.

With his selfishness, it really does seem like he married her for the citizenship and not for love. All of it for a chance to achieve his ‘dreams’. The fact that Jeongmi doesn’t realise this is saddening to see. She deserves so much more than him.
The main problem here is the guy’s mother. She raised him that way. Until, she decides to give him that reality check we all got as children, he will remain a man child for the rest of his life. Eventually, his wife will lose her patience and file for divorce. He is well aware of his habits. And sadly, boys who have not matured yet, like him, move on to the next woman without hesitation. Only if he decides to turn into an adult, his entire life will be a joke filled with divorces and child support......
