Recreate that tone: Nirvana - Live At The Paramount

- Here it is... The almighty Nirvana Paramount show tone recreation. This is probably my favorite live Nirvana show of all time. There's something special about the paramount and I hope I captured it here! I used Squier guitars with pure nickel strings, a Boss turbo distortion and a EH Small Clone into a Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp into a Crest 4801 power amp and lastly into a Marshall 1960A cab with Celestion G12-T75 speakers mic'd up with a Sennheiser MKH-50 at pretty low volume.
I feel like I’m watching a feature film when I watch your videos, so well done!! Tone is on point 🤩
Thanks bro!! I love your vids and tone!!
omg, epic crossover
I love this two guys here are my favorites
The crossover we all needed
These two are my favorite Nirvana recreation channels!
Probably the best tone recreation I’ve ever seen
Bro I literally love when you upload
You nailed the tones too!
Your voice is amazing you should like start a band! sorry for all of the comments
@@masters1ful agree 100%... Also agree with people telling me I look like a homeless haha
Wow thank you!!!
The video production, the fact that you actually went to paramount, and the vibe of the video with the awesome lighting you set up in your living room and last but not least the tone is perfect, it sounds almost exactly like the show
Funny how everlong sounds really good too with the paramount tone, also awesome vocals
Great video!
Edit: By the way for the g chord on about a girl you can leave the b string open, that's how kurt played it and i think it sounds better that way
Thanks man! I'm glad you dug it. Also, cool suggestion for about a girl. I'll try that in future vids.
Wow that tone was amazing. Nice Jag as well.
Also. Major respect for you for doing this well after playing for only a year. I honestly thought you'd been playing for a lot longer. Yr doing better than i was after a year haha.
Wow thanks man!
@@AaronRash no problem man !.
Incredible! I’m going to Seattle at the end of July and I can’t wait to stand in front of the Paramount and just soak in the vibe
It feels much different now. The footage from the 90's at this place is magical!
I wish there was WAY more content like this on UA-cam. Extremely thorough and well done.
Sounds awesome man. The closest ive heard someone get to the paramount tone, kurts tone is crazy here.
Thanks!
I love this so much. Thank you for your dedication. Love the surprise sneaky Everlong too.
you have one of the best channels ever. every video is absolute gold.
Wow, thank you!
I'd love to see the full cover of Everlong. Would be awesome
Same here
Bro yes sir
fax
Also would love to see this.
I knew about your channel with this video, I LOVE your conten so much!
Wow this entire channel is insane. All your videos are top notch man 🤯
You keep on making the coolest videos ever dude I can't stress enough how much you're videos are amazing UA-cam gets so bland and you've made it so much better for my experience 🤝
Wow thank you that means a lot!!
you posted this just as I was looking for this.
This is my fav live show from Nirvana and you did a great job. Also I love the singing at the end with everlong!
Also is there any news on that quad reverb pedal you said you might try an do.
Thanks man! for the pedal I just haven't got to it. I'll try to finish it soon!
WHY THIS HAVE SO LOW VIEWS WTF best channel for recreation stuff u are amazing man
Thank you man!!
Best tone recreation of all time no joke awesome job!!!!!
Wow, thanks!!!
Amazing job dude, you nailed it! Love all your videos and thanks for inspiring me to build a mustang like the one you did!
Btw it would be cool if you make a video showing the squier mustang and everything you did to it. It would help me and others trying to build one!
For sure, I'll do that sometime!
Nirvana live at the paramount is incredible 👍 my three favourite live shows are Nirvana live at the paramount, who live at Leeds, and Ramones 1977 it's alive concert.
I absolutelly love your videos, man. Really awesome work! I would be great if you did the small clone thing as soon as possible ;-P
Thanks! I will try to do it soon!
@@AaronRash By the way, I'd like to see a video on how you relic'ed your Jaguar too. Thank you for sharing such an amazing content!
recreating the sound is for sure one hell of a job and it's absolutely admirable. but dude recreating the scenario... whoaah I can't understand how you make it look sooo good
Thanks man!
I love your videos, These tones sound the same as Kurt's guitar
Sounds awesome as always, very well done. Love it!
Also, I’m dying to hear the rest of the In Utero songs. Can you please give an update on that or what are you waiting on to finish them? Really can’t wait for them 😃🤘
Thanks man! I just haven't had as much time as id like but I plan on finishing in utero soon. The live tones are 1000 times easier than in utero. The in utero studio sounds are incredibly hard to replicate and takes a really time consuming approach of trying really weird things
@@AaronRash thanks a lot for the reply and update! Yeah I can imagine that would take lots of time. Looking forward to it
awesome video, very helpful and one of if not the only closest tone recreation
Always a pleasure seeing notification that you uploaded a new video!!
hands down the best nirvana live tone
Agreed
Holy shit. That place where you got that tele Is literally were I go for my lessons!
Hey man! Wonderful videos. Love the facture, the atmosphere, the edition... congrats!
I've playing for 30 years and I'm fu***** shock that you played just for one year... and all these gear!! WTF!
Thanks man! I kinda went crazy with buying gear but I also sell a lot of it lol
@@AaronRash GAS!!! 🤣🤣 You have an unconditional fan in Spain. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
As a lover of nirvana and a new grunge guitarist/singer myself. Your channel is amazing. I would love to hear a recreation of the unplugged show. If there’s one show I would want to be able to recreate the tone for it would be that one.
Thanks! Yeah I would love to do unplugged. I just need a D18 or some other acoustic that sounds close to it
@@AaronRash maybe you could try The Blueridge BR-140. It gets super close to the sound of a D-18 and is more affordable. You can also try an Epiphone Ft-120. It’s a cool looking guitar. It reminds me of Kurt’s other acoustic on the in utero tour(his Texan) and has a similar sound to his D-18. After that all you’d need is the pickup he used
This is pretty much exact! Absolutely incredible;
Great vid to wake up to , back at it again!!!!!!
Thanks for an awesome video ! Love it
You're channel so f inspiring man. love it
This whole video has a very nice vibe and aura to it
Bro sounding spot on
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES FINALLY THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS ONE
For sure!!
For some reason nirvana make a lot of people obsesive with something, ...great job my man, I hope you enjoy your breakfast today, ...have fun,... take care.. could you please recreate the tone for the nirvana rare stuff?...
jesus that tone is spot on
Woow besides recreating the tone you also recreated the cinematography of the Whole concert as well ..
Awesome dude!!!!
4:44 if dave and kurt co-founded/Performed the foo fighters songs waay before and performed this (BTW everlog is my favorite foo fighters song)
Niil
if i could recreate one tone my WHOLE LIFE it would be this one. SPOT ON
I rarely ever leave comments on YT but your vids (and specially this one) deserve 100k subs + views. Third time watching in a row… Great job man!! And congratulations on your first guitarist anniversary
Wow thank you! That really means a lot!
@@AaronRash I am your fan already! 🎸🎥
Hey Aaron, huge fan of your videos! I have a Squier Jag too and feel like the body and neck finish is too thick. How did you relic the body to get that smooth, satin look like on 7:56? Did you just hit it with sanding paper? Cheers!
@@JACKDAW1967 he said he sanded it but he didn't say what grit sandpaper to get that satin look instead of just white scratches, or how he stained the neck since it's way darker than it would be if it was just sanded.
Great video as always. Can I make a suggestion so you won’t lose your mind if your planning on re-creating the Live at Reading sound? Turn the Volume on the far left side up to around 7 or 8 to get his crunchy clean sound. That knob acts as the gain for the clean channel. Then the Master Volume is your main volume. I hope this helps! Can’t wait for more videos. You’re great!!
Wow thanks man!!!I actually did reading a while back. It's on my page. Also the studio pre on my specific pre on 7 is wayyyy too much. I think the tolerances on these old things are kinda all over the place with these old pres. 3 on mine might sound like 9 on another one for example.
Very cool video. Thanks for showing the pedals and settings! Looking forward to trying to get these tones for myself!
Your voice is a amazing man I definitely wanna hear music from you originals or covers I don't mind
"welcome to my living room" you killed me 💀
Sounds so good. I imagine that must cost a lot
Yes Aaron
Top top content as always 🤘🏼Your the man 🎸 Nailed it 👏🏼
would be nice to hear the full cover of Everlong & would also love to see the Small Clone Mod, been thinking about doing mine for a while now 👍🏼
One more time, really amazing man !
I said it once and I'll say it again, you're the best!
And yeah, Squiers are amazing for the price, also feels more special and personal to build your own guitar and make it look and sound better than a guitar thrice it's price! Already have my version of the skystang 1, which I absolutely love... And I'm on my way to turn a 70s cv jaguar into a kc jaguar aswell, can't wait!
@@enriquepastor3626 i want to build a skystang 1 myself out of a squier cv mustang
@@FURGens best option for sure, you save a lot of money and feel a stronger bond with your guitar!
Thanks Enrique!! you the best! I agree with squiers by the way, they're incredible guitars and I find myself preferring them a lot these days over the fender stuff
Awesome stuff! Please keep doing more content! :)
This is so so awesome. You have a great voice too.
this is amazing man keep it up
Krist Novoselic's bass tone at the paramount was the best.
just found ur channel , you good dude !
Had to watch this again. I love playing Everlong too! Especially on the Stella Harmony 12 String with 5 lol
Got to love NirvanaGuitars
Hey Aaron quick question! Do you use the stock strings that came with the jaguar and strat or did you change them with other stirngs? Nice vid! Love the visuals! Bless!
Killer tone!
Did you film this with an actual film camera? Looks perfect
Great job!!!!
Hey man. Love all your Videos. I'm wondering what your settings on the Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp were? Many please and Thank you's. Much Love from Australia 🇦🇺
Absolutely incredible
Now get a Bartolini 3AV and do the Unplugged
Still need a Martin 😭😭😭
@@AaronRash I don't think it would make a huge difference since it was just the pickup
There's this guy that got kinda close with an electric ua-cam.com/video/CRjED3yRK_k/v-deo.html
I think you could make it work with any dreadnought!
@@AaronRash thats the hard part lol
@@AaronRash there's a Chinese copy that looks incredibly similar, I always forget the name though, it has weird knobs
stafford sf-s1, that's what it was
That's so coooool !
I want to invite you to dive in Nirvana by watching and listening their gig at Mayfair 12/2/91. I thought I knew the band and then I read NIRVANA A TOUR DIARY BY ANDY BOLLEN and hunted the concerts he mentions like this one and man!! Otherworldly experience....I think soundwise Paradiso is my favorite but the energy of Mayfair....I cried!! Anyway
amazing video. curious how you got the reverb tones, did you add them in post? or did you play with a reverb pedal?
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU
Awesome!!
Never seen lithium played that way, would love the tab for the way you’re playing it so I’m playing it the correct way that Kurt does
all you do is switch out the 057700 chord for a 000320, if i had any theory knowledge i’d give the chord names
Could u do a videos with amplitude 5
Breed would be awesome to recreate. Great videos!
Thanks for the idea!
Dude, what camera do you use?? Or it is vhs after effect?
I used a BMPCC4K for the look I used film convert Nitrate plugin
@@AaronRash Thank you very much!!!
you gotta cover everlong that was beautiful
I'm looking to mod a Jag similar to what you did. Were your DiMarzio's new or vintage?
If someday there is a Nirvana movie and if the tones aren't from you I won't watch it...
This is amazing
Hi, i love your videos because of the audio quality, but your video quality too
What gear you’re using for video recording?
Thanks! I use a BMPCC4K
Great video, I got my Mesa for around 4 to 500, just looked up the price today, insane!
Cobain inflation be crazzzzzy! lol
@@AaronRash 😆 yep!
YOOOOO LETS GOOO🤘🏽
Edit: as I kept watching I realized that I’m in the video😂
You should do some Hi Flier Custom tone recreations 👀 like SNL 93 or Argentina. That would rule so hard
I was recently watching Territorial Pissings Live at The Paramount and I couldn't help but notice a scratchy sound over the guitar intro. Then it mysteriously vanishes. You also can't see who was playing what because coincidentally, the lights fade out at that exact moment.
It almost sounded like a guitar strumming with muted strings, but that can't be it right?
That sound sounds so good for everlong tho!
Hey Aron, this might be weird to ask or think about. But I allways thought that when people use a phase 3/4 univox Hi-Flier and use the neck pickup that it wouldn't sound as right. Cause kurt was a lefty, and he converted a righty to a lefty. so the neck pickup would be positioned differently, and would make it sound Difrent if I am not wrong. I wonder if you could get a coustom built "univox" left handed model and convert it into a right handed guitar?
(also I know this video doesn't have the univox in it, but I'm saying this now cause I've thought about it for a while, and also just for some future vids If you do think about it) love this tone btw you like 90%-ed it :D
Cheers mate
story goes kurt gave pat smear his T75 cabinet that was used on the nevermind tour, so if you ever do another live show based around 1993-1994 then you can recreate pat more closely with this speaker + a rat pedal!
love your tone videos btw how’s heart shaped box going?
Thanks! HSB is going good I just haven't had the time to finish it but I will soon
omg eli.
Live at the pine Street 😎
Bought the vintage 12t-75 speakers because of you ! What would be a good home amp with 2x12 be? Hahaha.
Awesome, do you know how he got the crazy feedback at the end of drain you at paramount ?
He didn’t say welcome to my living room he said happy Halloween
Please, tell me you still have this original video of Live at the Paramount. It's been down from UA-cam, but I really need it. Could you please upload it somewhere?
I love the paramount too, but I think reading is my favorite
Dude you can sing!!
Great cover
Which guitar gets the nirvana tone better a Squier mustang or jaguar
I have 2 1985 G12 T 75s
did kurt played in e standard tuning on live at the paramount ?
Im Cobain to the bone....and you fuckking nail it!!!! This time!!!!
does the vandalism strat have the same specs as the strat that he used for the nevermind sessions?
Can you please try to recreate the krist novoselic bass tone, and like give out the settings? Ive been trying to get it got years man.
That would be a cool idea! I haven't played much bass
Have you tried the new G12H-75 or G12H Anniversary? I think I’ve read they compare to the 80s 12t-75s
