The fictional character Spider-Man, a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and featured in Marvel Comics publications, has appeared as a main character in numerous theatrical and made-for-television films.
Nicholas Hammond first starred as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the 1977 made-for-television film Spider-Man and would appear as the character two other times. In 1978, the Toei Company created a theatrical spin-off of their Spider-Man television series, with Shinji Todō reprising his role as Takuya Yamashiro / Spider-Man. By 1999, Sony Pictures Entertainment had acquired the film rights to the character, creating two film series until 2014: the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy of films (2002-2007) starring Tobey Maguire as the character, and the Marc Webb Amazing Spider-Man films (2012-2014) starring Andrew Garfield in the role.
In February 2015, Disney, Marvel Studios, and Sony made a deal to share the Spider-Man film rights, leading to a new iteration of Spider-Man being introduced and integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The deal allowed Sony Pictures to continue to own, finance, distribute, and have final creative control of the solo Spider-Man films, with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributing the films with his other appearances in a supporting capacity. Tom Holland portrays this version of Spider-Man, and has appeared in six films to date, from Captain America: Civil War (2016) to Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). In September 2019, following a brief stand-off resulting in the termination of the old agreement, Disney and Sony relented to fan outcry and reached a new agreement for Holland's version to return for future films such as another solo film, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) where he appears alongside Maguire and Garfield who reprise their roles in the film as supporting characters, and another team-up film. In December 2021, Feige confirmed that he and Pascal, along with Sony and Disney, are developing a fourth MCU Spider-Man film.
Plans for an animated Spider-Man film were officially announced by Sony in April 2015, which eventually became Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) from Sony Pictures Animation. Shameik Moore voices Miles Morales / Spider-Man in the film, along with various other versions of Peter Parker and alternate versions of Spider-Man from the multiverse also appearing. Sequels and potential spin-offs are planned.
The Spider-Man films have been generally well received. They have collectively grossed nearly $9.8 billion at the global box office, with Far From Home becoming the first Spider-Man film to gross over $1 billion worldwide followed by No Way Home, which became Sony's highest-grossing film of all time. Additionally, Into the Spider-Verse won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
I remember seeing those Spider-Man 4 trailers in like 2010 with venom from Spiderman 3 edited and coloured in red to show a fake carnage and thinking they were real and telling my friends at school , good times.

I'd also love to see Tobey and Andrew return in another MCU Spider-Man film where the three Peters team with other spider-people and the consequences of curing the villains in No Way Home are explored.

Too much time has passed to film it the way it was intended. I think a graphic novel would be the perfect format for it.
I remember people were freaking out when Marvel Comics tweeted out a webbed “4” image. Turns out, it was a countdown to a story that no one cared about. But starting the count with 4 was just cruel.

I would love having Spider-Man 4, TASM 3 and the 4th mcu Spider-Man movie be done. I mean who said we can’t have 3 Spider-Man movie franchisees going at the same time ? All 3 actors have passionate fan bases and if you don’t like one of them there’s always the other one
I still would’ve loved Bruce Campbell to play as a Mysterio variant just selling hotdogs in Multiverse of Madness. You know just for comedic effect and to give some rami fans an ease of mind that somewhere in the multiverse Sam Rami's Spider-man 4 still occurred but off screen.
Seeing Peter Cheating on MJ in Spider-man 4 is just messed up cause in Spider-Man 1 and 2 he tried to do all he can to get with MJ and in the 3rd he did but then he screwed it all up if it was Felicia Hardy when having the black suit it would be fine but in the 4th cheating on MJ out of his own free will? It would have been the worst Spider-Man movie to have ever existed.

For ‘Spider-Man 4’, with all these details in the story about Peter having an affair behind MJ’s back (after his fall from grace in movie 3), the retread of the Norman/Harry storylines with Vlture and Vultress, and Peter supposedly quitting being Spider-Man at the end (AGAIN, again)…Yeah, I think it was for the best that Raimi left the story to rest. Heart-breaking as that decision must have been for him, he already had such a struggle balancing the story for Movie 3 and it’s multiple plot threads with the marketing agenda the studio had placed upon him, so I wouldn’t want to see him go through the same thing again to (most likely) lesser success. Now I think ‘No Way Home’ did a fairly good job at (vaguely) detailing Tobey Miguire’s Spider-Man’s life after the events of the trilogy (especially with the brief line about how he and Mary Jane did manage to make their relationship work after a while)…but if we ever do get a return to the Raimiverse sometime in the future, I’d be open to seeing what it has to offer.

No I didn't because he wasn't. Ultimately it was an idea that made sense but in none of the drafts or anything we see here was Lizard included.

I remember an old rumor about a verison of Spiderman 4 With Scorpion as the main villain and Black cat as a side kick, but also another love interest. When you think about it that idea seems too similar to the dark knight rises.

It's a true shame Spider-Man 4 was cancelled most of the ideas for this sounded amazing. I really don't like the whole affair storyline though that would've been terrible

Wow. I can kinda see why this movie never got made. I guess it's like Superman Lives where fans made it up to sound more interesting than the actual story they had in mind. But it makes me happy we got The Amazing Spider-Man, and No Way Home's take on Maguire's Spider-Man after the third film.
Also, when you mentioned Sony wanted SM5 and SM6, that's not true. Raimi denied this as well. You see, while Raimi was developing SM4, Sony hired it's screenwriter to write the scripts for TASM 1 &2 behind Raimi's back as backup plans, in case SM4 fell through. They were just labeled as 5 and 6 on social media but nobody knew they were the scripts for a reboot. The screenwriter even said SM4 would've intentionally ended the series. Meaning Spider-Man retired for good at the end. Once Raimi's sequel fell through and he left, Sony immediately announced their reboot plans in 2010. And Sam Raimi told the executives "Go ahead with your reboot. Which, you've been planning anyway."

I gotta say props to Raimi to not make a 4th one at the time and maybe its because of the third one not doing so well critically it made him nervous to risk making a 4th one which might of been even more hated than the previous one with some of the ideas they were gonna go with or at least that's just my guess if they were to go with those. He always seem to make these movies outta love and passion instead of money. But who's to say with many years past now there could be a chance of a 4th one but with a very different story altogether and so on.

@@saltystick_99 i remember that it was uncle ben talking to sand man in a time when he was just a normal guy with no powers , but then that theif that peter caught in first film used a gun and killed ben , leaving sand man at that time horrified but with a look of sadness on him , and those events was shown in a flash back a little while after venom's defeat
@@gregtom3272 He said "I saw my partner running with the cash, and the gun was in my hand" followed by a gunshot. He never said Dennis killed Ben, he pretty much said he (Flint/Sandman) accidentally shot him.
I hope that if Spider-Man 3 had been made, they would have steered away from everything we see in these scripts. Vulture and Black Cat sure, but I think Peter and Mj's relationship--Kinda the crux the Raimi saga built itself on--going away to an affair would make Peter truly unlikable. But I think Marvel's editorial probably pushed for that script to go along with the comics since by that point, Peter and MJ weren't together anymore.
Also with the footage at 17:50 it doesn't take that long to defeat the helicopter actually in that prototype version, the person playing in that footage seems to just be trying to show off everything and not finishing the fight quickly.

Kind of glad that this film never got released. Would have ruined Peter's character in the worst way possible and the repeat of some storylines like Peter giving up Spider-Man and the whole revenge plot where the villain's child misinterprets a moment in time would make the Raimi films repetitive and a bit cheap.

Well, to be honest, that plot for cancelled Spider-Man 4 is kinda sucks. Sure, it would be nice to see my favorite Spider-Man return again, but the plot needs some changes. Like, instead of Spider-Man kicking Vulture from the roof to his death, he get's up, beat him really badly, Vulture just gives up and escapes, promising to return. Then, we move back to Peter's none Spider-Man life, where he is returning to work, and after some time he finds out that, there is some robbery going on around the city. Then, he puts on Spider-Man suit and goes to investigate those cases, along with police arriving on the scene of crimes. And then, they all find out that, it was some kind of a thief, who was escaping from the crime scene, and Spider-Man goes to chance that thief down, but lost him eventually.
Then, we get back to Peter and MJ's montage with their better life now, after which, at some point, Peter returns back to work, only to find out that his boss of the organization that he was working on, turns out to be a Vulture. Like, he just caught Adrian Toomes finishing putting on his vulture suit, while that thief, who escaped from the crime scene previously, arguing with him about stolen stuff and the price. And then it turns out that, that thief was a Black Cat. Then they noticed Peter, and chase him down, just to catch him and probably kill him, but he manages to hide behind the corner, put on his Spider-Man suit, and gives the battle back to those two. And during the fight, when Spider-Man takes down Vulture again, but this time without serious damage been done to him, simply sticking him to the wall with his webs, he left to fight against Black Cat. And during that fight, Black Cat notices some familiar voice behind the Spider-Man's mask, and during the fight, when they fell from the roof, Black Cat manages to torn Spider-Man's mask, revealing Peter's face, while Peter sees who Black Cat really is - the Felicia Hardy.
Then, they starting a conversation of, why all this stuff happened, Peter is trying to convince her to stop been a thief, and maybe team up with him. And after some struggle, she agrees. Then, Peter covers his face with a web, just to hide his true identity, just in time before the Vulture strikes back. He grabs Spider-Man, and drags him through the buildings, smashing him through some windows, but Spider-Man break out of this fight, and starts to fight back, just in time when Black Cat decided to join him, and they fight back against Vulture, defeating him in the process. They break his wings and knock him out, when police arrives on to the scene, arresting Toomes, but since they have no idea that, that thief that they were trying to catch was a Black Cat, they let her go with Spider-Man.
Then, few days later, we have a montage with Spider-Man and Black Cat working together, when there is a radio message from the police that Vuture escaped. Thus, when they arrive at prison, they see all cops been defeated or killed, and then Vulture flies on top of the building, revealing that he knows the true identity of Spider-Man, and before he attacks them both, he impales the Black Cat with one of his sword-like feather, through her shoulder, and then attacks them both. He beats them both very badly, but then whole S.W.A.T arrives and shoots at Vulture, while Spider-Man grabs him with his web and pulls him down, smacking him by his back on to the statue nearby, damaging his spine. Then, in rage, he jumps on Vulture, beating his face so badly that it turns blue. And, finally, Black Cat drags him away and they escape together, while the S.W.A.T and police taking Vulture in to another prison with maximum security, putting him on a wheelchair in the end. And in the ending, Peter introduces Felicia to MJ as his co-worker, and they get along just fine. They build a friendship, but then, there is a scene with Vulture already planning his revenge and his escape, while camera shifts out of his cell, revealing some mistery figure standing in the dark at him.
This way, the plot of Spider-Man 4 would be better, in my opinion. Sure, it is just my fantasy and all that, but it is better than what they were planning to do.
Ramies series was becoming stale and this film would have just added to that. Another mid level at best spidey film. They could have gone a completely different route which would have made it interesting but eh Sony! A new suit would have been a start. If they were to do it now is a blessing with 15 years to think about it. An R rated comic accurate kravens last hunt in the the style of Logan could do that, Peter now a dad. Maybe introduce miles. Something refreshing

I guess things end up the way they should, this script sounds terrible, and Tobey and Kirsten were too old to keep playing these characters...on the other hand, there are conflicted reports about this movie, Raimi started once Anne Hatheway was playing Black Cat and not the Vulturess, and just last year Bruce Campbell started he was not playing Mysterio in this movie.

As much as I adore Sam and the trilogy,this script is horrible. I'm glad it didn't get made. I would've rather have seen Peter and MJ break up(just for a while). MJ moves to LA to work on her acting career and Peter,while still missing MJ,maybe finds a bit of happiness and fun with Black Cat. By the end of the film,Peter and MJ realize they miss each other and get back together. And I've never been a fan of the Vulture. I would've rather have seen the Lizard.

If they were gonna do a story where Peter is tempted to cheat, I'd only accept something like the Mindy episode of the Simpsons, where the connection and temptation is there, but it only serves to strengthen the relationship in the end.
I think if Spider-Man 4 were to finally be announced. It would work. Cause now Raimi seems to have a better idea on how he wants to do it. Maybe it was for the best Spider-Man 4 got canceled then since Sam Raimi was clearly was overwhelmed with everything and didn’t know the kind of story he wanted, but now he does, or at least have some kind of idea. But I do think that there probably no way they can use any of the original ideas, especially using Vulture. There are people saying they could use Lizard, which yes it can work but I wanna see someone new, I think it would be interesting to see Tobey’s Spidey face off against Hobgoblin. I think it could be interesting. Now if they were to be able to use Vulture for this film, then I’d love to see them adapt the LifeTheft Storyline.

Are you... sure, about the affair thing? Every version of Spider-Man 4 I've heard over the years had Peter and MJ already broken up at the start of the movie. Even Henderson's book says ""We were going to open the movie with this montage of all the villains we knew that Sam would never be able to use in Spider-Man movies… because Peter, now that MJ [Mary Jane] HAS GONE, he has finally made peace, and he loves being Spider-Man."
Sounds like it might have changed later down the line then. Dang it. Wish I could've included that version or at least a mention of that. Good diligence on your part.

Having Peter Parker cheat just isn’t a good idea ever. Characters like Spider-Man are Paragons and it just doesn’t work. It goes against him as a character and everything he stands for, I hated it in the comics too.
I’d like to step into another dimension to see where this movie was made, I’d love to watch it. We all would. It’s just.. not possible.

...Peter cheating on MJ. Basically a copy paste of TheNorman Osborn and Harry Osborn storyline. I think a better way to do it would have been to have The Vulture be the main villain, and after Felicia found out, she found out, she became Black Cat to help Sider-Man stop him. Something like that. Idk really.

Black Cat is a professional thief in the comics. After Spiderman interferes with a few her heists. She starts pursuing Spiderman, but not for romantic reasons, well not at first.
