I’ve had an idea for Spider-Man 4: It’s been 3-4 years. A montage showing Spider-Man saving people and fighting criminals are mingled with Peter and MJ marrying and moving into a place together. Peter struggles to be a good husband but after the death of Aunt May, he loses himself in Spider-Man, trying to get the pain to go numb, therefore neglecting MJ. WhenPeter gets everything he wants, he can’t be happy because of a major loss. Peter must face what it is a man must do and become in order to be the man his wife needs him to be. After defeating his villain which would somehow tie into the story, it ends with MJ announcing she’s pregnant. Spider-Man 5: Peter starts to learn to be a father as MJ tires of not pursuing her career. She gets to finally complete her dream, leaving Peter alone with their baby. Several wacky incidents occur with him trying to be Spider-Man while babysitting before he’s taken by the villain of the story. MJ is also stolen from him and in a confrontation with the villain, MJ sacrifices herself to let Peter save their child. Spider-Man 6: Basically, God of War 4 mixed with the end of Logan.

I'm about 90% sure that one of the scripts made for Spiderman 4 ended up being reworked into TASM 1. The proof comes from the fact that James Vanderbilt, who is credited as one of the screenwriters and as the person behind the story, wrote a script for Spiderman 4, which was one of the many different scripts written by different writers. I think that when TASM 1 was made, Sony decided to just take one of the many scirpt written for Spiferman 4 and have it rewritten into a new Spiderman reboot.
I think something we forget - and I've only heard it - is that Raimi was pushed by Sony to include Venom in Spider-Man 3 (if only because it made sense, given that Spider Man's other two arch-foes already appeared).
I’d love to see what this version of Spider-Man is doing now. If he is happy or unhappy. Also it would be interesting if he is married or has kids or whatever. I wanna see him today.
I think that the Sam Raimi Trilogy is the best case scenario. And yes seeing more movies of him would either grow into a pain to see or see the 2nd redemption of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Let's say this. After the events of the third film with it's sad conclusion of Harry dying for his best friend as well as the downfall of Peter and MJ's relationship, now Peter has to learn to be a better friend or person towards the people he wants to continue on with, that being MJ and Aunt May. Of course he has to move one but also appreciate the small moments that he has with MJ and actually listen to her and treat her like a person. I think that after using Gwen Stacy we could let her live and just let her not wanting to do anything with Peter for a while (if ever). But having Felicia Hardy being like his rebound only for him to be treated like he did with MJ. Felicia only falling for the idea of being with Spidey and not Parker, could be the medicine he needed to see or acknowledge that he was treating MJ as a goal or object, rather than person herself, and Mysterio (rather than the vulture) could perfectly take advantage of this knowledge through Felicia. With maybe the final shot being MJ and Peter sharing time together with just a bit of hope of them working things out (but that would also mean maybe less quirky lines from when these two are together as that was the dream, and now they're both in reality) Sort of remanencing some key points of Spider-Man 2 . But that's just my ideal
Dude this analysis was phenomenal. You definitely need to make more movie analysis these were so well thought out and pushed my appreciation for these movies even further.
Great video but I wanted to respond to a point you made earlier in the video. Spider-man 4 WAS intended to be a finale to the Raimi films. In the Amazing Spider-man blu ray documentaries, screenwriter James Vanderbilt said that he was tasked with making Spider-man 4 a finale to the series. Also, in interviews since its cancellation, Sam Raimi has said he was only doing SM4 to try to end his run on a stronger note. As for 5 & 6, there was a blurb in the original reports in 2009 that these could also act as a reboot to the franchise, and Raimi said that the reboot was being developed simultaneously with Spider-man 4 as a back up. Vanderbilt's draft of Spidey 4 was so big the rumor became that it would be used for 4 and 5 which would shoot back to back. As other writers came on board it became a one-movie focus. When "5 & 6" were announced with Vanderbilt writing, it was revealed that Raimi hadn't liked all of Vanderbilt's ideas, but Sony did.
At first I thoght MJ and Peter's personalities were different and that they were just in an emotionally immature fluffy relationship . Byt actually MJ loves Peter because he understands her and he likes her personality , unlike Flash , Harry , and John Jameson who only liked her for her looks and wanted to impress her . She always wanted someone to give her real love that her family couldn't give her . Plus , the trilogy really shows you the toxic instability of pre-marriage relationships , it's not just MJ .
I feel like the development of Peter an M.J. was definitely thematically well developed. While it may have strayed from their usual comic relationship, the struggles of a relationship are every well done (and are even brought back in _Into the Spider-verse)._ Everyone wants the perfect relationship where we meet someone we like, feelings develop, and an easy happily ever after is followed. But the truth is that not all relationships are meant to walk off into the sunset. And that's a truth not often delved into with stories about relationships. Just look at Ross and Rachel from _Friends,_ Ross pined after Rachel throughout high school and Rachel never really noticed him at all. They eventually get into a relationship (with a rocky start) and it goes well. Until reality sets in and problems show up that bring to light their toxic nature. Ross is so protective of Rachel after having been the guy across the room for years that whenever she has independence or there's a handsome charismatic guy talking to her, he feels threatened that he will lose what he deems as "his". Which leads to the break, the drunk one-night-stand and the nuclear fallout of their relationship. And after they've each come to terms with the relationship, the toxic nature re-emerges. Whenever Ross begins to move on in a new relationship before Rachel, she suddenly feels the same love she once had for Ross once again. And then she attempts to sabotage that relationship, only for them to not feel any of that love for each other again. And then there's Ross who won't admit to his mistake, claiming the "we were on a break" argument as something that exonerates him of being so clingy to Rachel that when she had a life that didn't revolve around him, he proceeded to get drunk and have a one-night-stand with who amounted to a complete stranger. Yet somehow, in the end, they have a daughter and get back together in the end. While this shows that they each grew as individuals, it also presents the fantasy of a couple who endures any hardship because they will always love each other. And like Channel Pup said, Peter was only in love with the _idea_ of M.J., which is sadly, often what happens with relationships that start with a weak foundation. Peter may have encouraged her to pursue her acting career, but he didn't do much beyond that. Then suddenly he's ready to marry her even though they haven't even moved in together. He wanted that fantasy he's had since he was a kid to come true without even thinking about M.J.'s side of things. Their relationship being put on hold would actually be in line with the themes of Spider-man. Sometimes, the hero doesn't get the girl because the girl isn't someone to _get,_ and that allows for the hero to reflect and learn, and they might either get back together with their partner, or simply move on
I think this is spot on. Even Nostalgic Critic who in the past has reminded everyone of how hokey and cheesy these movies are mentioned in his Spider Man 3 review how Peter and MJ’s relationship struggles were something the movies were hinting at based on how immature they are and MJ’s look of concern and dread at the end of 2.
7:42 completely agree with that statement. Even seeing this as a kid in theaters. I noticed that. nobody ever brings that up. I even remember asking my sister why she wasn’t smiling but she looks like she made a mistake or something. Such an odd direction at the time, but now it does make sense.
@@logannottheonefrommarvel9917 i don't think so...to the Batman films, Robin could exist in the arc...the problem of Batman and Robin is not why, is how is made.
This is why I love Sam Raimi. One of the many reasons is because rather than just making spider-man 4 just to do it and make a sequel. He decided to step away from it when he couldn't get the script together and come up with the right story. He didn't rush the movie to try to top himself so to speak. So as much as it pains me to say I'm glad we didn't get Spider-Man 4 if he didn't have the right story to tell with these characters.
I remember being excited for Spider-Man 4 back then when I was little and then I searched up Spider-Man 4 on UA-cam and remember seeing Spider-Man 4 cancelled videos

So quick question, what happened at Sony during Spider-Man 3? Like the first 2 movies were exactly the film Sam Rami wanted to make, why was it when Spider-Man 3 was being made they got all controlly?
Sony realized they had a gold mine in their hands, and wanted to sell more Venom toys. Creative interference. You think your director is so good he can handle all these prerequisites without ruining what made him great in the first place. No director is that good.
2008-2010: Spider-Man 4 was supposed to released on May 6, 2011, but Sony cancelled it on January 11, 2010. 2020: Sam Raimi has officially directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
I was always under the impression that Peter and Mary Jane never made up after the movie since it seemed like their relationship couldn't work out the way they wanted it to. There's no exchange of dialogue between them that approaches an "I still love you.". They would've likely made up but parted ways.
I don't know what to think. If Spider-Man 3 was a better movie, I don't think I would've demanded more, but I hate that the series ended on a whimper. It doesn't help that the last piece of media to come out of the Raimi universe was Spider-Man: Friend or Foe.
I'm quite content with the trilogy, sure it stinks that we didn't get a 4th entry but I wouldn't want it to go like other films and shows that over do it. And honestly I've been enjoying the current iteration of Spidey and I can't wait for the third film.
I actually think a reconciliation between Peter and MJ would be quite easy because it was never really them doing what they did in the 1st place; Peter was corrupted by the symbiote, and MJ was blackmailed into leaving him, so I imagine they just have 1 conversation revealing both these things, and everything goes back to being hunky-dory.
No it's good Sony cancelled it . Raimi was not feeling any scripts when the shooting was about to start so he walked out . But it could definitely work if given the proper time , now Raimi wants to do it , some actors including Tobey are interested too , they should make #RaimiSpiderman4 . Let Raimi the goat handle it and he'll do it justice
carnage could've been introduced in spider-man 4 because dr. Connors never got rid of the black symbiote he had and could've experimented on it, creating carnage.
At the ending of SpiderMan 3,Mj said,"If there's something important, say it", and Peter said ,"Nothing". Actually there WAS. MR. DITKOVICH WAITING FOR HIS RENT SINCE SPIDERMAN 2. Will he get his rent in the fourth?
Personally I think three films works well anyway, because it follows the classical Hollywood three act structure. Hell, I'd be happy if we only got three Tom Holland Spider-Man films.
Honestly I just want some sort of closure for Tobey's Spidey, doesn't have to be a full movie, even if it's just like how they did with Brandon Routh in Crisis I'm fine with it.
@@tunabricks5442 if it were up to me I'd have Miles but not necessarily kill Peter. Maybe have him be in a mentor role where he's slightly more lax (but still active) with his own Spider-Man stuff and focus more on his own family while training Miles as his partner and eventual replacement
Yeah Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was prime Spider-Man in terms of built. Would've definitely been odd seeing him doing muscle poses with Thor and looking impressive while doing it lol
Amazing video! Your perspective is very interesting: the idea of why prolonging the end of the movies would cheapen the whole thing. That's something that started happening with other series of movies and shows caused them to lose the esteem they once had. I feel compelled to disagree on the idea of Peter and MJ just not working, though; as much as the world is against them and as much as they are flawed, so isn't that everyone else's reality? The point was that Peter was still daydreaming about the perfect MJ, the girl next door, and he was so caught up on his story reaching a peak he was blinded to her difficulties and couldn't properly console her, but that doesn't mean he couldn't improve; same for her: she was still caught up on her own problems which caused her to lose the opportunity to be happy for her companion, but that doesn't mean she couldn't improve. Moreover, this process isn't unprecedented: the whole trilogy is about their growth, a growth that just couldn't be possible without each other. IMO, Peter Parker and Mary Jane in the Raimi Trilogy isn't just a "could"; it's a "should". It's a symbol of the end goal of their growth, their character arcs are complete and they can move on. That's how I felt in the bittersweet ending of the 3rd movie: things are not good now, but they will work out. They should work out. Because that is how a realistic relationship works: not perfect, but still spectacular.
Kirsten Dusnt recently mentioned how tired she was about getting paid a fraction of what Tobey was getting, she already didnt want to be in Soiderman 3, so for 4, she was collecting a big juicy paycheck, and his character was being written off, with the movie ending with Peter and MJ divorcing, leaving the stage set for some sort of love triangle with Gwen (and we know how that story ends) and Felicia... At the end of the day, as much as I would have loved to see this movie, I think we got the perfect conclusion with Spiderman 3, Sam was running out of ideas, Tobey was getting tired of the character and getting too old to keep playing him, James Franco was out, Kirsten Dunst was on her way out...
I think after fixing or solving every problem or plot points Peter had in his live in the first 3 movies and going back to Ben's ideals at the end of SM3, Spider man 4 could have been a great send off ending Peter's story with a heroic sacrifice. The ultimate staple that he is the person that Ben hoped he would become. And then in the last scene set up Miles morales or something, so it is still hopefull
I was assuming if there was a Spider-Man 4, It would have ended spinning off into a new series of movies about Peter's daughter taking on the Spidey mantle.
14:42 I suggest reading New Avengers Vol 1 2004 from Brian Michael Bendis. I’d rather have a more experienced Spider-Man hold his own with the Avengers. There was a reason why Captain America recruited him.
This kind of mirrors the reason why I hate Toy Story 4 . ( plus I totally love Spiderman 3 , the only thing bothering me is the whole Harry-amnesia thing . He could’ve pretended to have amnesia and pull the strings from behind the scenes and it would’ve made him more diabolical)
I agree while thinking how great they would have been even cooler with the action scenes, Cgi stuffs I mean imagine that scene w Peter vs Harry, have you ever seen a fight like that in any Spider-Man films...🤩😮💨 soo cool bruu
Ok I got an idea: A spiderman 4 would start off with spiderman being retired and choosing Mary Jane over spiderman, and there happy because it’s shown that Spider-Man is the biggest thing between them. Then you could do a titans thing where peter try’s to let go of spiderman and at first it works. Then aunt may dies and he starts to fall back in. Then problems start up with Mary Jane again slowly though. Mean while the main villain is developing ( this whole story plot works with mystero very well but you can use a different villain). Peter then faces off with the main villain who ends up beating him. This doesn’t sit well with Peter and he ends up focusing only on spiderman which causes him and Mary Jane to split up. We continue and he find out the main villain is the reason of aunt May’s death and Peter goes off the rails. He is just about to kill the villain before mj stops him and he lets the villain go. Peter then tells Mary Jane “you prove time and time again that you bring out the best in me, but I have shown that I bring out the worst in you.” Mj then says “I don’t want to let you go” and Peter then says “sometimes the hardest choices are the best for us” and he swings off leaving us with the same feeling we had at the end of the first film where it shows that he is kinda of his own worst enemy and he is the reason he can’t be happy.
If Toby Maguire is Old Already tho hes in his 40s And It will take alot of work to make all the characters To look like their last appearance but maybe It can kinda work out
I think if SM4 came out now, you couldn't really use the original script ideas. You'd have to have some form of time skip to justify the in universe soft reboot
Yes, Spider-Man 3 was pretty conclusive with Peter's relationships with both Harry (of course) and Mary Jane. I don't think the first two movies really set up, made it so that Peter and Mary Jane would necessarily have a lot of problems in 3 but that is what 3 showed and it would be awkward for 4 to either skim over the problems (maybe OK if 3-4 years passed in-universe, a bit awkward but probably still better) or worse have Peter and Mary Jane definitely breaking up.
An MCU Maguire Spider-Man wouldn't be the same age as Tony Stark, he was still 20-21 in Spider-Man 3 and him later being 25 would still be quite a bit younger than Stark.
I think it wouldn't work cuz harry is dead. Harry is an important character in the trilogy. His character develops throughout all the films like Peter.
Personally it would and wouldn’t have worked out, I’m really happy it ended back then to open up Tom Holland’s mcu spidey. It helped make the mcu movies insanely good and made a massive franchise grow, he’s a great addition to the films. On the other hand, I and a lot of others are dying for Ramis continuation. Now that the mcu films worked out well and rami is directing a doctor strange multiverse film. It’s possible and I hope tobey makes a return as Spider-Man. Even if we got 1-3 more films from ramis Spider-Man after the multiverse film and the mcu version also exists whilst finishing off Raimis films. I genuinely wouldn’t mind that

While it may have strayed from their usual comic relationship, the struggles of a relationship are every well done (and are even brought back in _Into the Spider-verse)._
Everyone wants the perfect relationship where we meet someone we like, feelings develop, and an easy happily ever after is followed.
Being honest, i'm happy for not having this film, i mean, the three seal the Peter, Harry and MJ film arc.

One of the very few filmmakers to walk away from a big hit and payday, to care more about whether the story would be good, worthwhile.
NWH SPOILERS
Peter did say that he and Mary Jane made it work so...
Spider-Man 4 would have been successful and it was supposed to come out 4 years after Spider-Man 3.
All what you say have no sense.
@Srikanth Ramprasad yep.

Deric James Can’t just assume it would have been successful.
@@ShevtressYes he can , cuz the other ones were and Sam was directing this one too , he left because it wasn't working when the shooting was about to start , so it never came out to be unsuccessful .
That's why it got cancelled, Raimi wanted it to be BETTER than SPIDERMAN 2 but he couldn't
Un canal cualquiera & knuckles he couldn’t due to the studio wanting to jam in venom ,so it gave him stress,he didn’t want venom so he as much as he wanted to love and care for the project, his love for it was yanked by the studio Sadly,I believe if he did what he really wanted to do he would have made it happen
Spider man 3 was like a big finale peter meets his true uncles killer then harry dies. Spider man 4 would be dumb
Also tobey is in no shape to continue, TASM 3 could be good tho

Not as good as the first two but still a really good film in its own right. It's a bummer people dog on it so much
So quick question, what happened at Sony during Spider-Man 3? Like the first 2 movies were exactly the film Sam Rami wanted to make, why was it when Spider-Man 3 was being made they got all controlly?
It's a common thing in hollywood, the more successful something is, the less control you have
Sony realized they had a gold mine in their hands, and wanted to sell more Venom toys.
Aw, they should have just done a Mr Ditkovitch solo film. That would be a MOVIE
I don't know what to think. If Spider-Man 3 was a better movie, I don't think I would've demanded more, but I hate that the series ended on a whimper. It doesn't help that the last piece of media to come out of the Raimi universe was Spider-Man: Friend or Foe.
Friend or foe isn’t canon you know
I just wanted to see Jim Carry play Carnage
Maybe that would work for most but not for people like me that don't care for either of them lol
Spiderman 3 felt very conclusive.
Meanwhile in MCU universe...
Tobey Peter Parker: Well... I won't give up. It took a while, but... we made it work.
It could never work at this time
But if Sony didn't cancel it, it could've been a revival to the franchise
No it's good Sony cancelled it . Raimi was not feeling any scripts when the shooting was about to start so he walked out . But it could definitely work if given the proper time , now Raimi wants to do it , some actors including Tobey are interested too , they should make #RaimiSpiderman4 . Let Raimi the goat handle it and he'll do it justice
carnage could've been introduced in spider-man 4 because dr. Connors never got rid of the black symbiote he had and could've experimented on it, creating carnage.
Yeah...but it really could hard to defeat Carnage without Venom.

“That’s slander”

I wish they would of continued Spider-Man 3 was one of my favorite movies of all times
I would totally watch a Spider-Man 4
Very insightful look at the relationship between these two, my dude. Well said.
I was assuming if there was a Spider-Man 4, It would have ended spinning off into a new series of movies about Peter's daughter taking on the Spidey mantle.
Am I not supposed to have what I want? What i need?
14:42 I suggest reading New Avengers Vol 1 2004 from Brian Michael Bendis. I’d rather have a more experienced Spider-Man hold his own with the Avengers. There was a reason why Captain America recruited him.
"I'm gonna put some dirt in your eye"
This kind of mirrors the reason why I hate Toy Story 4 .
( plus I totally love Spiderman 3 , the only thing bothering me is the whole Harry-amnesia thing . He could’ve pretended to have amnesia and pull the strings from behind the scenes and it would’ve made him more diabolical)
Remember that dr. Connors had part of the symbiote?
That probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere
It can always work.
I agree while thinking how great they would have been even cooler with the action scenes, Cgi stuffs I mean imagine that scene w Peter vs Harry, have you ever seen a fight like that in any Spider-Man films...🤩😮💨 soo cool bruu
I never realized how Peter, as you put it, was "head in the clouds" about being with MJ until I saw this video. Nice analysis.
My childhood was wit the raimy films
They wasted a chance to have Dylan Baker’s Connors become the lizard. They just gave that job to Rhys Ifans
Also im glad that im not the only one that binge watches the fights from the sam raimi trilogy on UA-cam lmao
If Toby Maguire is Old Already tho hes in his 40s And It will take alot of work to make all the characters To look like their last appearance but maybe It can kinda work out
Actually, the quote on quote deleted end credits scene is a blooper not a deleted scene. There I have to do my own Phil mason accent

Probably besides Aunt May he was the best written character.
