Goligoski was a pretty good, young Dman at the time of the deal. But it certainly was still a robbery and even moreso with history on our side to evaluate it. Thanks for watching.
It's funny that way isn't it, Jared? For 25 years the Wings were good to great and now in just two years people now just see them as they are currently. It's true that sports really is a, "what have you done for me lately?" game. Thanks for watching.
It really would be interesting considering that 5 of the 31 teams in the league weren’t around yet. Nashville was a year away from playing its first season, Winnipeg/Atlanta 2 years away, Minnesota and Columbus 3 years away and of course 10 year away from Vegas. Heck the thought of putting a major sports team in Vegas 20 years wasn’t even a reality 😄
You're just like me, SQDangles32! I also think it's fun to look back and see what happened back then. Doing re-drafts is a great way to pass the time. I hope I can produce some re-draft videos in the future. Thanks for watching.
LOL The Habs had VERY good prospects in 2007 under GM Bob Gainey....in addition of letting go McDonagh...they almost trade Price, Subban and Pacioretty for LeCavalier 😂😂😂😂😂
I remember that! I remember when the debate was do they keep Halak or Price. No question Montreal has drafted well in the last 10 years, but it's a shame for them and their fans they didn't stay on track. Thanks for the comment, Felix.
Not the Aves best moment, but hey, Sakic got a good haul for Duchene. Hopefully in a few years that'll work out and Colorado will be a strong team again. Thanks for watching Raging Aggron.
Turris was drafted 3rd overall in 2007. While some teams best prospect at the time did come from that draft, the Coyotes Mueller was still considered their best prospect. Remember Mueller was 6'2" 200lbs and scored a combined 136 points in 103 games in the WHL over his time there. He looked like a great player at the time. Thanks for watching.
I like this video. Just a quick tip: try positioning the camera a little bit higher. That way it doen't look as if you were looking down on the viewers. Keep up your work :)
Oh really? It always feels like I've got my head tilted up. I'll have to tinker around with things. Thanks for the constructive criticism. And thanks for watching, Sam!
Boy that was a tough break for him, eh? But I must admit, he did deserve a suspension. Cogs nailed Kempe with a deliberate elbow to the face, well after Kempe passed the puck. Brutal way to stop the iron man streak. Thanks for watching.
I thought it was. I took a guess. Different languages are not my strong suit. For example, I was horrible at french in grade school and high school. Thanks for watching.
Oh, dear! 10 years is a long time. Ottawa came so close in 2017. Do you think they'll make the finals in 2018? Personally I like Duchene more than Turris, so I think it's an improvement. What do you think about the trade? Thanks for watching.
No problem man. I like interacting with my viewers this way. I wish I could do it faster (notice it took me a week to get back to you) but I'm doing the best I can with the time I have. Thanks, man.
THN sure thought so, 10 years ago. Not so sure about that now. Toews offense is fading by the game. His contract might look brutal in just a couple years the way he keeps sliding. Thanks for watching, Ryan.
Drew Stafford was the most frustrating Buffalo sabre of all time!! One game you think he is going to be the next great sabre captain and than would disappear for three weeks without a point and be demoted to the third line or was injured that trade definitely worked in Winnipeg favor Kane is now with sanjose ( thank God) and as fair as I know Tyler Myers is still in Winnipeg
According to THN, JVR was the best prospect in the Flyers system in 2007. He's had a good career so far, too. Boy did that trade suck for Philly or what?! Thanks for watching.
I loved this video! Please try to upload more often, I would personally donate to a Patreon account of yours to make that happen! You just earned yourself a new subscriber! (:
TopCornerHockey I love that you include clips and you come off as completely unbiased which is refreshing. Have you thought of doing any NHL gaming videos? I’d also love to hear your opinion on trades that occur and things happening week to week on teams deemed appropriate for said week!
Thanks, Joseph. I have not thought about gaming videos because I don't play video games (except Resident Evil from time to time). I have had others ask me to do a weekly, "Talk Show" so to speak, but videos I currently make take me so long to research, write and build that I really don't think I'd have the time. Perhaps in the future if my channel gets up to something like 10k subscribers, but right now, I just simply don't have the time. It's a very good suggestion and I would like too, but I'm going to commit to something I don't think I could pull off. Thank you so much for your interest though.
nope, there really wasn't. The wings had very little prospects in the pipeline in those years. they were trading a lot of their draft picks to keep their playoff streak rolling
My favourite player is Bobby Orr. My favourite active player is Sidney Crosby. I'm sorry but I've chosen not to share my favourite team on this channel right now. Perhaps in the future. Thanks for watching, MrCanadaOntario.
Haha, glad you understand. You're not the first person to ask me that question and to be honest, I'd ask that same thing if the shoe was on the other foot, MrCanadaOntario. Thanks for watching.
Let me provide a little bit of further info for you, Killer Connor. In 2007, the Top 10 Oiler prospects were (in order): Cogliano, Gagner, Alex Plante, Rob Schremp, Devan Dubnyk, Riley Nash, Tom Gilbert, JF Jacques, Jeff Deslauriers and Danny Syvret. It looked great back then. Thanks for watching.
Haha, Alex and Tyler were both in the WHL when I was covering the league. Alex with Calgary and Tyler with Brandon. Alex got a few games into the NHL and Tyler never made it.
Yeah, he's not the best...or even close. NYRs drafting history is not that good. Sather traded many of their picks away. Six times since 2000 the Rangers have not had a 1st rounder. Thanks for watching, Ed0n.
Yup. McIlrath was 10th overall in 2010. He got in 43 NHL games. Jesper Fast is the only Rangers pick from that year to "make" the NHL (play 160 games and therefore qualify for a pension). Thanks for watching.
R.I.P Luc Bourdon.
I know. It was no fun having to remind others (and myself) of Luc's death nearly 10 years ago. Thanks for watching.
damn Neal and Niskanen for Goligoski, what a steal by Pittsburgh
Goligoski was a pretty good, young Dman at the time of the deal. But it certainly was still a robbery and even moreso with history on our side to evaluate it. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video! My first time watching and I have already subscribed!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
Well I mean, the redwings weren’t a joke 10 years ago, which to me makes it seem like a long time ago.
It's funny that way isn't it, Jared? For 25 years the Wings were good to great and now in just two years people now just see them as they are currently. It's true that sports really is a, "what have you done for me lately?" game. Thanks for watching.
It's heartbreaking and hard for my little Red Wing soul to take.
Maybe because the leafs picked up babcock
You’ve hit me in my feels
Great video. A 20 year version would be interesting too.
That would be cool. Thanks for watching.
It really would be interesting considering that 5 of the 31 teams in the league weren’t around yet. Good call, Brian! Having a few less teams to evaluate will make my job easier. Thanks for watching.
This was a great video idea! You have inspired me to dig out some of the old hockey news yearbooks I've kept and read them for fun
You're just like me, SQDangles32! I also think it's fun to look back and see what happened back then. Doing re-drafts is a great way to pass the time. I hope I can produce some re-draft videos in the future. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video, Curt!
Thank you and thanks for watching.

Yo, keep up the awesome content. Love your passion and knowledge for the game. Really look forward to watching your videos.
Thanks, George. That means a lot to me. Thanks for commenting and watching.
This was solid. Good job
Thanks, Jonathan! I appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
Really good video, once again.
Thanks, KoRno. I really appreciate your kind comments.
You deserve more subs you’re a great hockey UA-camr keep up the great work my man
Thanks so much, Starpower44. I appreciate your kindness. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Such a cool video!
Thanks! I really appreciate all your kind words you share each video. it means a lot to me. Thanks for watching.
The Shattenkirk trade will always hurt to be reminded on
Not the Aves best moment, but hey, Sakic got a good haul for Duchene. Hopefully in a few years that'll work out and Colorado will be a strong team again. Thanks for watching Raging Aggron.
I really hope so. This is now a rebuild of a rebuild of a halfrebuild
Haha! Buffalo Sabres fans are saying the same thing.
Fascinating video. Glad I stumbled across it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Taco1011. Thanks for watching.
Leland Irving as the best prospect hurts
uvv
But hey, he was good in junior lol
Hannahhusky he might still make it
In the Flames defence, they had just drafted Mikael Backlund and he's worked out pretty well.
Mueller was considered #1 in Phoenix in 07 over Turris?
Alex LeBlanc if I can remember correctly, Turris wasn't NHL ready at the time.
Interesting to note that Jack and Erik Johnson won a Cup together in Colorado with Cogliano. 3 members of that Cup team in this video.
subbed based on this vid alone.. great work!
Thanks! That's very kind of you. I appreciate that.
Great video!
I'm glad you liked it.
You need more subscribers! We need more great hockey youtubers!
Thanks Tanner, that's very kind of you to say. I'm glad you like my videos. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Any one else catch him saying “In Hind sight in 2020” despite the fact it was filmed in 2017. Look at 13:05 for reference.
Love your diss (Ducks fan)
Haha glad you enjoyed that FLIXER KIHL. Thanks for commenting and watching.
how about each teams all time best rookie/1st pick?
I have done the research on a video similar to that and I just need the time to produce it. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Cool,In the case of the Bruins it would be hard to beat Bobby Orr.
6:11 well, about that...
Boy that was a tough break for him, eh? But I must admit, he did deserve a suspension. Cogs nailed Kempe with a deliberate elbow to the face, well after Kempe passed the puck. Brutal way to stop the iron man streak. Thanks for watching.
Should have mentioned that the Stars also drafted Jamie Benn in that same draft as Patrick Kane
Good point. Thanks for watching, Patrick.
Is Helenius a difficult name to pronounce? Anyway, good video.
Rauta Arska moi
Terve terve
I thought it was. I took a guess. Different languages are not my strong suit. For example, I was horrible at french in grade school and high school. Thanks for watching.
This should be fun !!
This aged well.
I’m watching this the day Rask became the all time wins leader 👀
8:37 that face though
On Todd Marchant? Haha! It is funny. I didn't notice that before. Thanks for watching
I don't want to re live Ottawas defeat in the finals, I still cry 10 years later
Oh, dear! 10 years is a long time. Ottawa came so close in 2017. Do you think they'll make the finals in 2018? Personally I like Duchene more than Turris, so I think it's an improvement. What do you think about the trade? Thanks for watching.
4:53 that’s my boy Big time brass
Are you a Jackets fan, Billical Genius or just simply a fan of Derick?
TopCornerHockey I’m a fan of Derick and I like the senators thanks for responding
No problem man. I like interacting with my viewers this way. I wish I could do it faster (notice it took me a week to get back to you) but I'm doing the best I can with the time I have. Thanks, man.
toews>kane

I suppose we should now look back 20 years, shouldn't we, Andrew? Thanks for watching.
well done
Thanks Daniel, I appreciate that.
The Flyers Best Prospect in the last decade was James Van Reimsdyk???
According to THN, JVR was the best prospect in the Flyers system in 2007. He's had a good career so far, too. Boy did that trade suck for Philly or what?! Thanks for watching.
10years ago Detroit didn’t care they were still wining cups and having 50win seasons
top 10 rockies this season so far please
season start like 3 week ago men
true
It's Clayton Keller
12:20
I'll tellya, Ed0n, it was no fun putting that segment together. A harsh reminder, for sure. Thanks for watching.
I loved this video! Please try to upload more often, I would personally donate to a Patreon account of yours to make that happen! You just earned yourself a new subscriber! (:
That's very kind of you, Joseph. I'm glad you are enjoying this content. I will consider your proposal. Thanks for commenting and watching.

5:46 my hometown team. #RaiseTheShield #RockTheAud
You're from Kitchener, eh? Nice place. A few of my best friends live in Cambridge. Thanks for watching, Zdeno.
Jack Johnson was traded for Jeff carter u think the Kings win that cup? He’s not a poor guy
LOOOOL Kindl, seriously? There was none better?
nope, there really wasn't. The wings had very little prospects in the pipeline in those years. they were trading a lot of their draft picks to keep their playoff streak rolling
Backstrom!
Who is your favourite player and hockey team?
MrCanadaOntario Tampa bay is just bad in 2007 cuz headman stamkos kucherov Johnson and bishop... But they traded bishop...
My favourite player is Bobby Orr. My favourite active player is Sidney Crosby. I'm sorry but I've chosen not to share my favourite team on this channel right now. Perhaps in the future. Thanks for watching, MrCanadaOntario.
I like the suspense. But i get it, people would find ways to bitch about bias and whatnot
Haha, glad you understand. You're not the first person to ask me that question and to be honest, I'd ask that same thing if the shoe was on the other foot, MrCanadaOntario. Thanks for watching.
You forgot Winnipeg
Where was Winnipeg 10 years ago? They weren't forgotten..
Oh man, cogliano as our best prospect?
ah well,we have mcdavid
Let me provide a little bit of further info for you, Killer Connor. In 2007, the Top 10 Oiler prospects were (in order): Cogliano, Gagner, Alex Plante, Rob Schremp, Devan Dubnyk, Riley Nash, Tom Gilbert, JF Jacques, Jeff Deslauriers and Danny Syvret. It looked great back then. Thanks for watching.
Plante was trash
Haha, Alex and Tyler were both in the WHL when I was covering the league. Alex with Calgary and Tyler with Brandon. Alex got a few games into the NHL and Tyler never made it.
just saying 3 seasons.
1 season has 82 games.
82 x 3 is 246...so no da its not going to be 300 games
lucas Rozmus he said less than 300 total NHL games not games with the Coyotes
Thanks Nibble Mcnibbs for clarifying that for me. Thanks for watching.
The Islanders are 7th in the NHL, buddy.
Literally Who don't act like the islanders are good
+Jose Bautista
They are a good team. If the powerplay gets figured out and they get good goaltending, they're a top-10 team easy.
Literally Who they’re pretty much scoring on all their PP’s
you forgot Vegas
John Doe Vegas wasn’t a hockey franchise in 2007
Trainer Connor *sarcasm
Oilers did well
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not...
Thanks for watching, zee fenn.
Marc Staal is terrible
Yeah, he's not the best...or even close. NYRs drafting history is not that good. Sather traded many of their picks away. Six times since 2000 the Rangers have not had a 1st rounder. Thanks for watching, Ed0n.
Didn;t they draft McIlrath in front of Tarasenko too? that's gotta sting
Yup. McIlrath was 10th overall in 2010. He got in 43 NHL games. Jesper Fast is the only Rangers pick from that year to "make" the NHL (play 160 games and therefore qualify for a pension). Thanks for watching.
Good history but this guy looks like a creep.
Is it because I don't shave everyday? I hate shaving. Thanks for watching.
Hockey sucks. Period. It"s a snooze feast . The best part of a hockey game is watching a laxative comercial.
Big Bearn I’m surprised you were watching this video LOL
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but your opinion is wrong.
Hahaha! Very funny response, IttzzMatt.
Why are you on here then? Troll.
