I like polished knives. I have Master Tanto in 3V, Magnum Tanto XII in 3V and Tai Pan in 3V. I also want the 7 1/2" Magnum Tanto in 3V but Cold Steel only have it in black. These knives are for stabbing, slashing, slicing and cutting soft targets: 2-legged or 4-legged they are not designed to do bush crafting, chopping down a tree or hit a stone or tree a hundred times. They are very capable of self defense and offense. And honestly nowadays I can't think of any situation that I will be in a knife fight (no good outcome from any knife fight for all parties) or actually self defensing myself with a knife when my Glock G29 is in my waist. We buy knives because we love them and we find excuses (self defense) to justify the purchase to our better half.

the steel on the outside is 420 IJ stainless steel. it is allmost impossible to corrode and takes a lot of beating. Soft and tough so the VG-10 does not break. And takes a nice polish. Well people do alot of crasy things to knives and say strange things. I would not be afraid to use them, even Fallkniven use the same steel in the military, survival.police and bushcraft blades. A little nick, yes. When you hit some stone or gravel, but they dont break easy. Besides these are fighting blades, not axes or something dumb people batoon with. They have now changed back again to limeted lifetime waranty

They are totally NOT for camping or chopping wood. They're self defense fighting blades. The kind of blade you'd keep underneath your seat in car or truck.

The sheaths for Cold Steel knives seem like the company makes them as an after thought. Cold Steel used to have really good sheaths. Now.... not so much.

For home defense I actually prefer the 12 inch over my Wakizashi. Even in a narrow hallway or kitchen area the Magnum can still manoeuvre viciously fast to stab, slice or cut at a correct angle. A slightly bigger wakizashi needs a bigger angle to swing and slice. Forget about the baseball bat 😂👍🏻

A legendary blade that lives up to the hype after all these years. These tactical long knives and short swords from different manufacturers come and go. The Magnum has outlasted all of them. One of CS' most iconic designs.

I agree with you. Those are two beauties. That large one is still on my radar. I went on and purchased a Cold Steel Warrior Series Katana. On ebay for $362. Since Lynn is really not running CS anymore i feel all the stuff manufactured under him will go up in value. I honesty think i bought the Last O Katana on the internet last week. I also got the Crane Katana and the warrior series Katana from Cold Steel. Look into picking this stuff up now to sell in the future for profit. I bought the Laredo Bowie san mai for $335, 5 years ago they are selling on ebay for 700 dollars. Thanks for sharing and when i get them ill make a vid of my small cold collection. Go get you sum before they sell out bro.

I was given a Magnum Tanto II as a present about 20 years ago or so and have never used it as I keep it as only a show piece. I do have a question and that is about the XII and its long 12 inch blade. Is the handle the same size as that of the smaller magnum Tanto that has a seven inch blade. If the handles are the same size then that longer blade would feel unwieldy because the handle grip area is not long enough when using a blade that long.

I have the Master Tanto in CPM-3V and the Magnum tanto Vll in CPM-3V DLC. Beautiful blades to be sure. My first Tanto was the Recon tanto in SK5, a beast of a knife! The tanto is a better woods knife than the Srk. I have both in SK5 and SAN MAI VG10. I used the Recon SK5 for 3 months on a trip from Florida to Maine stopping to camp and fish all points in between. The Recon excelled at batoning, chopping, feather sticking, and scraping fatwood and fluff off of cedar bark. That was my impetus for getting the CPM-3V Master and Magnum. Upon receiving the magnum 7.5" in dlc, I was curious to find that the height of the magnum bladed, edge to spine was noticeable shorter than any other Tantos that Coldsteel makes. I thought I may have gotten a counterfeit, but I believe it is authentic. They each costed me $175-200 las last year.
