Yes I just bought it at a local knife store for $219. This knife is like having your cake and eating it too. For my use it's self defense because it checks all of the boxes for it's capabilities. Strong, excellent slicer and stabbed. It's fast and perfectly balanced. I can lay it on a table and it will rest on the hilt without any other part touching. The yakote where the blade changes direction to the point is great for effective snap cuts. The sheath will not dull your blade if you press upward towards the spine when removing or resheathing. This will cut 5" on Manila rope that is free hanging. It will bend 90 degrees and not snap. It will stab through a 55 gallon steel drum with no damage. The craftsmanship is over the moon

I drooled over them years ago when they had the tantos with brass. When these newer ones came out I grabbed a 6” right away. Beautiful knife. I recently bought the Outdoorsman as well and it has the same exact sheath as the Tanto. I rather had a leather sheath imho.
I have not seen ay leather sheaths for it. Will look into it!

Nice review! I have a Carbon V Recon Tanto that I bought back in the 90s. Great knife. Mine came with a Cordura sheath that I'm not so fond of. Been thinking about getting a kydex IWB sheath. FWIW, I really want to get one of their kukris.

Nice review Carla I just got the Cold Steel Recon Tanto with a satin finished and with the San Mai steel it was going for $100 on Amazon I couldn't pass that up and I did a review on it too immediately! LOL anyway I may have to get one of those longer Cold Steel kmives hope they don't stop making the San Mai steel take care...

I’ve been wanting to try out Cold Steel’s San Mai for a while now..I have the Recon Tanto in 3V and I love it,I might have to pick up this Magnum Tanto in San Mai..I love my Recon Tanto,I feel like a ninja assassin every time I remove it from the sheath..makes me feel like the white American version of Ghost of Tsushima...lmao..great video as usual Karla,keep up the great work

Very Nice! I have so many CS knives. I wish they'd bring back the Peacekeeper. Everyone put the heat on CS to bring the Peacekeeper back into production, I need one!.
That's an excellent knife! Would I buy it? 100% absolutely... I did! The larger, 3V version though. Just got the san mai recon tanto and as with everything Cold Steel, I was not disappointed! Great knife, great review Carla!

Very nice! Just got my CS urban edge today very cool glad I made this choice I was afraid the sheath wouldn’t be strong enough but was I wrong fits perfect and hasn’t been a issue all day! 🇺🇸🤘🏻
Cold Steel Tanto Point knives and tools are my favorites! I have a Recon Tanto in San Mai 3 (form Japan with a VG1 core), Voyager Large Tanto in AUS10A, SR1 Lite Tanto, Immortal (technically a Tanto), Tanto Machete, Katana Machete, and Tactical Katana Machete. I had a Kobun, but I sold it to a cousin. But I am buying a Voyager XL Tanto folder in AUS10A this week. Anyway beautiful knife and video!

I have a Cold Steel 21” tanto, made from spring steel. It’s big, and it’s sharp. Last line of defense if I run out of ammo, lol.
I have one similar to it looks like its made better than mine it reminds me of a ninja weapon thank you for the review you're awesome

I got the Recon 1 folder and the Voyager Tanto also , they are both fantastic knives but Wow ! I really want one of the Fixed blade tanto by CS as they are built for war and I like that a lot.

Whether I pick up a newer one or find a vintage Japan made tanto fixed, I really should have one of these in my collection…..vintage Cold Steel, SOG and 🙄the most expensive, Al Mar are just beautiful examples of Japanese production knives…and they’re a testament to the WAY things are done in Japan……ALWAYS the right way, with the proper intention….

I bought the Cold Steel Magnum Tanto XII San Mai..You can handled the 12" blade? You have a XL Espada Folding Knife!
I like it Cold Steel makes good knives I have a 7 and 1/2 inch blade buck I've had over 30 years but it doesn't have the hilt or the glass breaker I really like the idea of the hilt but I only gave 90 bucks for my buck that was over thirty years ago🐝😎
I like Cold Steel because of the XL Folders with Tri Ad lock. For fixed blades not so much because theres so many other options but that knife there is pretty sweet.
For the money cold steel's fixed blades outperform most other companies!!! I do love their big folders as well!!! The rajah 2 is one of my favorites, as well as the tylite 6, and my edc is a recon 1 clip point
Also love my marauder, and for similar money the competition for example would be something like the condor undertaker bowie, but the undertaker won't take near the abuse that the cold steel marauder will!!!

I think this is the best model. And the knife is perfect too! Don't use the sheath it will ruin the knife, if you want it for a collection. The handle shape is great. I have the 3v tai-pan, that is wicked! For combat they should give them a g10 or micarta handle, it is simply harder.

Damn I was thinking of getting the 7 1/2 in blade but that looks huge, I just need me a woods knife, was gunna go with the San mai 3 SRK which looks perfect, but I heard it’s not full tang, anybody got any info on that which should I get? 6” magnum tanto, 7-1/2” magnum tanto or San mai 3 SRK?
I don’t wanna hear “what you would like bro” nah I will love either of them, any of them, but which one is the most versitle for the money, I can get it for 119 usd 128 usd and 98 usd respectively so I could do either but not all
