I just realized Rick is using the same strategy his war veteran grandfather used. Remember that story he told in the barn? “I was dead the moment I stepped into enemy territory.” His grandfather told himself, “Rest in Peace” every morning until the war ended. That’s what Rick did. He forced himself to die, so he wouldn’t fully experience the agony of loss.
@@tonyahines4554 maybe! TWD Content is not Emmy “worthy” but maybe they will submit them with the money they spent on this spin off may make the Emmys think differently! They both deserve a nomination and I think a win!
Danai Gurira wrote Episode 4, titled “What We.” As a playwright, Gurira skillfully keeps the ball in the air, exploring Rick’s psychological trauma and rekindling the love between Michonne and Rick. The setting itself becomes a character, eventually destructing-a powerful metaphor for their journey.
This was so beautifully written you can tell it was thought out, with love for these characters history and 100% for day one fans. I think this was in the top 3 best episodes in TWD history. This is the most beautiful TV couples EVER! FYI did anyone else just literally die? when he told her she was the love of his life 😢
Their love scenes were EVERYTHING! The scene where she says she should be afraid of Rick in his red uniform made me cry. If he went back to the CRM alone he’d be forced to murder innocent people.
Aisha, I am so with you. My chest also hurt when Rick broke down about Carl disappearing from his dreams. I could actually FEEL my heart breaking. Give Andy all the acting awards and give Danai acting awards AND writing awards.
Hmmm not sure. In the graphic novel she was a lawyer, but I don't think she ever said her career outright in the show. But I do remember her saying she loved the arts. Who knows lol
The song they play at the ending 😭 "Masibe happy munt' wami" that's Zulu for "Let us be happy my love" 🥺. Never thought it possible to love them more than I already did.. but Danai!!!! Wheew! Always love your reactions 🤍🤍🤍
Danai CRUSHED the writing in this ep!!! Better than many movies. Girl needs to look into screenwriting. Dialogue was just so real. And top it off w their gut wrenching acting... just WOW!! This series has been perfect❤💞❤️
I don't know how in the world they're 4 and 0 on this series! SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD! I just love that Danai didn't take the easy route in writing the process of Rick coming back. The drama of her helping him get to what it really is keeping him from his real, true self, his REVIVAL so to speak, was getting to the realization that he is still alive and not dead. He saw that phone Pic of Carl and he could see him again. He could see her. He could listen to her again. Danai's writing is really just so very good! That combined with her and Andrew's superb on screen performance, makes this a definite fave. Back to Season 7 episode 12 quality and vibes for me. BRAVO!!!
The words 'emotional rollercoaster" have NEVER been more appropriate! This episode took us through everything from anger to bargaining to resignation to fear and ultimately love. And I LOVE the observation that it was written like a play with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd act. So much so that they spent most of the episode in a single setting....that apartment/room. I have so much to comment on but nobody's here to read a novel. LOL! What I will say is that moment of "panic" from Rick when they were making love seemed to also be the culmination of his deepest desire...being with Michonne again and of his biggest fear...losing her again. It was a manifestation of all the trauma he's been thru and has been holding onto this entire time...coming to the surface. It was an incredibly powerful and vulnerable moment.
The emotional journey that Danai took us on....their acting! I can't. This whole episode was like watching a play, and Danai put her whole foot into this script. I think this is the first time we've had an actual time out on TWD, where we just got two characters talking, basically for a whole episode, and really got to dive into their emotional states. It was just chef's kiss, and I loved every second of watching you react to it!
I relate wayyy too much with how broken Rick is.. way more than anyone should. Especially since I've been without love/ people for over half a decade now. Thank everyone who made this show so i can feel

thank youuu so many people miss that and laugh over Rick not being able to drive stick. I'm like there's no way like knows how to drive stick its his hand. I've been saying I love that they acknowledge that just like in episode one where he already pulled the pin on the grenade and couldn't put it back so he tossed it. Like the touches of highlighting that he does have one hand.

I think Andrea was the lawyer. I remember her talking about it with Dale in the RV.
@@merp9211Andrea was a civil/human rights lawyer. When Michonne flashed back to her husband/broths in her dining room in one episode of the original series, I thought she was a lawyer. Maybe she dropped out and went back.
@@K_718NYC I remember the scene you’re talking about, but can’t remember what job she had.
Michonne was a lawyer,Andrea was a civil rights lawyer, that was already years ago
@@K_718NYCMichonne was a lawyer it's why she wrote the charter
I really enjoyed your reaction video! This episode was FIRE! I’m struggling with making reaction videos. Can you tell me how you are able to record the walking dead episodes? Every recording software I use never works, and I’m so frustrated! Nobody will help me!
Thanks so much. I use screen recording for my reactions, but there are nuances depending on your setup. Send me a dm via Insta and I can give some tips :)
@@AishaWilson thanks so much for your reply! Unfortunately, I’m not on Instagram, so I can’t DM you.
