Hunter reminds me of what it is like to have christian/jehova witness classmates. They're not bad or actually trying to indoctrinate you but that's what they're told they should do and in some cases it's required of them to go up to their classmates and tell them about God and all that. They're super chill and then they'll say something like "the end times and the day of judgement are comming" y'know?
Poor Hunter, who spent his whole life without any real friends and endured the terrible training from the Emperor's coven - Belos is really a horrible caretaker. Hunter’s enthusiasm for indoctrinating the gang is both depressing and hilarious. At least he has Flapjack and now it seems Darius for support. When Steve says that he regrets his life choices it's truly iconic, legendary, fabulous … -.Willow is really great in this episode - I’m guessing the reason she hasn’t appeared much lately is because they were saving her for something big or her voice actor was busy with something else. But it’s awesome to see how much she has grown and bloomed to her true potential. Gus was also really being a true supporting friend of hers. The sub plot is also very fun, finally exploring how Amity got her books. She had a name this whole time - got to one of my favorite jokes - but I also love how gently they poke fun at how crazy fan theories can be. Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday
I love Hunter so much. He has good intentions at heart, but he's been so indoctrinated by Belos and the Emperor's Coven that he has a very different view of the world from other people. He very much feels like a kid who's grown up in a cult. You can also see it in how Darius emphasizes the importance of Hunter making friends outside of the castle. The first step of unlearning all that stuff is to literally just interact with people who aren't part of the "cult." As soon as he talks to and hangs out with people who DON'T view what he's been taught as normal, that allows him to start realizing that his understanding of the world might not be right.
