This game from the Rookie's perspective is kind of hilarious. He has no idea what's really happening with his team but he keeps being given intel by the Superintendent to go places and he just finds things somewhat related to them, then he gets told to go to the data center, but he has so little context that he's basically just stumbling around the city all night
lore wise, when you find the objects, the superintendent/Vergil shows you the security footage of the events surrounding that squad member through the uplink you made right after exiting your pod.
@@yobud6637 It was stated by one of the Bungie staff on the waypoint forums years ago, I think it was also mentioned in one of the "Making of Halo3 ODST" videos they did at the time. Sadly, both sources resided on the Halo Waypoint forums which were taken offline several years ago so I can't provide links to them.
That cop that helped you in the tunnels is a dirty, dirty cop.... Also, you can rejoice. Buck and Veronica are married now. Not a spoiler, don't worry.
@@unslothable4847halo 2 was better story and halo 3 was better gameplay but I could agree Reach has a better balance of everything, even if it was lore breaking. Multiplayer though imho was the beginning of terrible trends that would plague the following games in the series for a decade
Yesssss. Congratulations on finishing ODST!!. Now finally its time for Halo Reach!!!! Been waiting for this so long! I'm sure you will love Reach! Also something that might be cool now that you almost done with the Bungie games, you could make reactions to videos talking about the lore behind the different alien species in the Covenant
this video has no many awesome halo moments :D Thats what i really miss in the new titles. These extra ordinary kills and situations you are just stunned by that this just happened
Midnight release, rushed home, committed to Legendary, finished at 6:30am, the most beautiful orangey sunrise came through my window matching the games sunrise, & Buck said “What can I say, it was a hell of a night” With a huge smile on my face, I replied back saying “Yes, Buck. Yes it was.” It was like a dream. Went to bed happy, missed school, got detention for Saturday. WWOOORRTHH😂😂😂 🔥ODST🔥🤘🏼🖤
I just realized Dr Endesha was going to meet with Dare thats why she needed to land at the ONI building. The cop was a dirty cop working for Kinsler thats why Vergil didn't like him. The engineer was guiding you this whole time. He was watching the cameras and using the city to guide you. Engineers are Forerunner biological super computers that were designed to do difficult tasks like maintaining Forerunner technology and preforming medical treatment on biological beings. They might be immortal in terms of lifespan but we don't actually know. This one's name is "Quick to Adjust" but he goes by Vergil since he combined himself with the superintendent Vergil. He is also 9ft or 2.7m tall so he is a big guy. I like the highway mission. Its cool seeing all the banshees and Covenant cruisers flying over. That assault carrier is scary. Its 5.346 kilometers long or 3.32 miles long. Its a huge ship. Buck talking about Reach really gives you a big look into his character. He was a survivor of Reach and he has PTSD from it. He witnessed the planet being glassed and yes glassing is exactly how it sounds. The Covenant shoots super heated plasma to a planet's surface turning the surface to glass. Reach was one of the most traumatic battles of the entire war and the game really gives you a view into what the last 27 years of the war have been like for the UNSC. Reach is referenced in every game leading up to it. Cortana on the Pillar of Autumn mentions them fleeing Reach, The Arbiter mentions it in the opening of Halo 2 when he says the Autumn fled as they set fire to Reach, Lord Hood mentions the fleet that destroyed Reach was in the hundreds in Halo 2's opening, and here Buck is having PTSD over what happened at Reach. I'm excited for Reach I might try to catch that one live.
i love odst, and now you're on to halo reach as the next game i hope! my favorite halo of all time! I've loved all your playthroughs so much, so happy you're enjoying the series :D
Love that Robyn is reading the novels along with what she's playing. The ME trilogy was a great ride, as is the OG halo Trilogy... Now, Remember Reach.
Superintendent "Warning! Hitchhikers may be escaped convicts" "Crime doesnt pay" The AI wasnt helping the cop, because it wasnt a cop. Most likely one of the goons from the corrup police chief. I dont remember if this was cut content but if you manage to keep him alive, he turns on you when reaching what he was looking for. This and the crazy marine in Halo 1 might be the only hostile humans in all of the Halo games. As far as I remember the audio logs are based on dantes inferno. Thats why the AI is called Vergil. Dont ask me for the details, thats all I remember.
The AI being named Vergil; that there are 9 areas the Rookie goes through in Mombasa Streets is a reference to Dante's Inferno; also the audio logs in each area (3 logs per section) refers to one of the nine vices in Dante's Inferno.
Deadly, glad you enjoyed it - Think I must have played through odst 4 times now, and all for the same reasons - the music, ambience and just general feel are like nothing else. Happy new year! 🎉
A lot of the voice actors in this game are also in two of my favorite SciFi series. Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, and Adam Baldwin from Firefly and Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica.
Quick context: at the end of the game what you saw are the covenant cruisers cleaning the Portal to the ark, the one that you saw and used in Halo 3. That's why they go only to New Mombasa and that's what the ODST team found out with the ingeniere
Have loved experiencing this whole journey with you and can’t wait for what’s next! Halo Reach is definitely in my top 3 in the franchise and also one of my favourite games ever made and might even be my very favourite. That said I did just want to say something quick about it and recommend maybe the best way to technically experience it for a first time play through. Sooooo it’s not a massive deal if you can’t, but with Halo Reach I’d really recommend if it’s at all possible to play it on Xbox 360 or an emulator. Without spoiling anything it’s hard to explain haha but like Halo 3 at the end of the campaign I think it’d really help to have the amazing credits keep rolling so you can process it and not get immediately kicked out back to the MCC menu abruptly plus there’s a heartfelt message MCC removed from Bungie at the end who were saying farewell to the franchise and giving it a proper sendoff and there’s also a couple things that happen that are supposed to be experienced through the credits like originally intended which kind of loses a fair bit of the point and punch behind it if it’s experienced in the MCC opposed to the actual game for the first time. To me that’s the big main point however also there’s a couple other little things here and there in the Ui of the game that’s more clear to you like customization which is a little more confusing to get to in MCC and not as clear about it being as important to Reach from the jump for a specific reason which might help your experience too but in addition to that, some of the textures for whatever reason like fire isn’t as good in the MCC as well though you wouldn’t really notice it unless someone told you about it and you had Reach to compare it to. Really apart from the credits the next big thing is for each of the Halo games a lot of thought and effort was put in to the menus and introductions of the game to set the tone and ambience (with Marty being heavily involved how they were put together and it’s a pretty big deal for some of the people like him behind it) and for me Reach has my favourite intro in the franchise. It’s not a massive thing but it always helps immediately get you absorbed in the game and ready and hyped up to jump straight in whenever I booted it up. But yeah ultimately if it’s too difficult to set up, it’s ok you don’t miss out on any levels or anything just the atmosphere and sort of the intention of how the game was supposed to start and end for you in a specifically designed way but all the content is still there so no stress
So glad you played this game. The amount of times death was right on your heels and you were so oblivious was so funny. You almost always lived. Two fun pieces of trivia, the voice actors for Buck, Mickey and Dutch all starred in the show Firefly that aired in 2002. There are a few easter egg lines in ODST that are a reference to Firefly. Last piece is the Halo devs pitched a Helldivers styled game to Microsoft years ago and got shut down. What could have been :( Can't wait to see how much you love Reach.
7:25 there are a total of 30 audio logs, but 29 of them are found in the street level and the last one in the level itself,. watching all the audio logs will provide some context but a good side story too. 35:00 since this is the last mission on the street level, this is the area best suited to go back and find the 29 audio logs before proceeding into the point of no return. 48:00 the thing with the Cop plays out differently if you had 29 audio logs before going in.
Now in this playthrough I see for the first time, that Vergil actually helps you finding a path through the city. When I played it last year in November, I ignored all of the signs and just looked at the map.
Hello Lucy. I just wanted yo say "Hi" and share some tips for the Halo Reach videos. For weapons: +Long press the trigger for the plasma pistol to shot a big EMP that throws down the shiels from the elites/brutes/jackals. +The granada launcher works similar. Press and hold to make the granada explode when releasing the trigger, otherwise it will explode after a rebump. +The needler rifle can make an explosion after three shots hit in the same target(only when shields down). +The human sniper bullet does not stop until hit on something, but beam rifle has a limited range. +Reach uses armor habilities, you can enable the infinite ammo skull to use those. +Friendly NPCs have infinite ammo. Enjoy the game!!
hah, the classic "Why don't I have weapons" while standing next to an armory xD it's be a good one for a drinking game, but I want to keep my liver healthy :)
Been enjoying your videos lately, it seems you find joy in a lot of things in games that most people don't notice or take for granted. You have a new sub 😉
1:32:49 - This musical cue REALLY reminds me of the Destiny soundtrack (which makes sense because same composers). Looking into the evolution of game music over multiple different series is fascinating to me.
Hi Lucy! Congrats on completing ODST. 😊❤️. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I really hope you do a reaction to the audio logs aka “Sadie’s Story.” As it does explain more about Vergil and the Superintendent then what the game explains plus it shows stop motion pictures of the logs if you went into your COMM section of the HUD menu. 😊.
Sadie's Story is such a great listen. I don't play the Halo campaigns anymore as I played them hundreds of times up to 2012 or so. However, I'll come back and listen to the audio logs of this game. They're such a great addition to this game.
ODST was originally just going to be an expansion pack and was in development concurrently with Reach, with two teams at Bungie. But they put enough content in that they decided to make it a whole game. However, it's a bit short, reuses the Halo 3 engine, and didn't have an online multiplayer; it came with Halo 3 multiplayer on a second disc. It did introduce a new firefight mode, which is part of MCC now, but it wasn't online capable until MCC. I purchased the music on CD years ago. No regrets. It's quite amazing really, and builds up as you play each track (though I just play it on UA-cam nowadays since CDs are out). I remember when this game came out there was some backlash to the jazz music because it didn't feel right when you're killing aliens, and it's playing in the background. You actually commented the same while playing. But the music is objectively good. When it comes to fighting enemies, try to use energy weapons against shielded enemies and ballistic weapons against flesh, if you can. This basic weakness-resistance principle is a hallmark of the Halo series beginning with Halo: CE. Right weapon, right enemy. And ammo becomes more and more starved as you go through each successive game. Halo CE was quite generous with the amount of ammo you could hold and was on the ground. Halo Reach and later, not so much. So knowing the areas and ways to shoot enemies more effectively becomes more important.
Nathan Fillion as Buck, Alan Tudyk as Mickey and Adam Baldwin as Dutch makes it a Firefly reunion! Haha I'm watching a Nathan Fillion TV show right now and Alan Tudyk is a reoccurring actor on it. They must be good friends. 😊
I feel like Lucy would have passed out with laughter at the Dancing Marty O'Donnell Easter Egg. It's a joke 343 removed it. I still find it incredibly embarrassing how much they hate Marty and the OG Bungie team.
1:38:45 assault rifle is genuinely good enough for any non-vehicle enemy on any difficulty imo, the only weapons you'll ever need are a plasma pistol and assault rifle
Just to address your final thoughts. The Rookie is the silent protagonist. You inhabit the character and you are in the adventure. The Master Chief is a defined protagonist. You control the action but you follow his adventures. ODST wants you to focus more on the other characters and you see them through the Rookie. With Master Chief, you're primarily invested in him and his interactions with the other characters are a secondary investment that enriches his journey.
Now that the vibes are finished, time to remember Reach... Three things worth checking out before the next game: The alternate section of the AI core from completing Sadie's story before the level, the alternate cutscene and dialogue for not killing any engineers(Vergils species) throughout the game and the legendary ending scene after the epilogue
Very awesome play through if you wanna learn more about the characters from this game I’d highly recommend the book Halo New Blood as it continues their story
55:14 that was a weird jump, I forgot about that tbh. 2 humans wearing almost 200 hundred pounds or like 90 kg falling 20ish feet, those legs and backs are done lmao
1:02:15 now that's going in the montage 1:41:26 Halo snipers have the ability to ricochet off at the right angles like that, the beam rifle could do it as well
Would love for you to react to all the audio logs, and specifically something with that cop that helps you in the tunnels.... :). Also love how this game really goes into the intricacies of the covenant digging for the ark that we didn't see.
38:40 "So they had Grunts guarding the 1st level. Now theyve got Jackals guarding this level......this must be the 'asshole" level" 🤣 Congrats on finishing 👍
For Halo Reach (Although Legends is next in line) I would recommend watching the Cinematic Trailers "Birth Of A Spartan" and "Deliver Hope", both tell stories of members of the game's Noble Team! Love You
The Cop will not die if you have collected 29/30 of the videologs by the time you play that mission, he will jump and keep walking with you till he reaches a frozen room where you can find the last videolog and Sadie's dad. But I don't want to spoil how or why this happens, but yeah, that's where the Rookie interacts directly with Sadie's story. That side story is not really a side story, is very important, but finding all videologs can take you a few hours, but I recommend you to react them from YT (just search Sadie's story), and also watch the alternative progression of the mission, just search "Halo 3 ODST Corrupt Cop".
I'm not sure how many Halo books you are planning to read but there are a couple of books that follow Alpha-Nine post Human-Covenant war there's "New Blood" which takes place shortly after the war you should play through Halo 4 before you read though and then there's "Bad Blood" which takes place immediately after Halo 5
9:00 Aaaahhhhktshuallyyyyyy... the treatment for a punctured chest is a air tight seal with a escape valve. Not to fill that chest cavity with foam. They did it the right way with the movie Three Kings starring Mark Wahlberg, George Clooney and Ice Cube
You know, Buck pisses me off on the highway segment, especially on legendary. It's like he can't talk and shoot at the same time. But credit where it's due, he doesn't take a nap every 5 minutes like Forge
@outlinedtrain6212 I thank you for correcting me. But it doesn't change the fact that Virgil communicates in metaphor, through common street warnings, directions, and advertisements - we know this. Most of what Virgil says is not literal. We also know that this cop and his team were there on Kinsler's orders, and he was following said orders to the letter - even after the rest of his team had died, and at incredible risk to his own life. If he was an imposter, as your comment implies, don't you think that after the rest of his team had died, that he would abandon his search for Dr. Endesha and focus instead on getting himself to safety?
I was curious about the scene with the lighter, epic @ 01:46:49 🙂 .. and the szene "Heck, Im not talking about the alien " @ 01:44:50 ✨.. so you do Reach as next ? .. dang I need more tissues ✨🌧
They hate Veronica because she is a ONI soldier and the ONI in halo it's like very very very one of the bad guys in the saga 😂 they are like the illuminates. And there is some rivalry between the ONI and the UNSC (more context in books)
you gotta watch a video with all of Sadie's story before you move on to the next game. Also, Reach has probably the best story in the entire series, hope you have fun!
Congratulations on completing ODST Lucy I hope you enjoyed it. I have been watching all of your older Halo videos. Can’t wait until you start Halo: Reach
You get a different ending with that cop in the tunnels if you collect all the audio logs before you start this mission.
There's 29 audio logs above ground and 1 underground. You have to find all 29 to get the 30th.
1:38:45 assault rifle is genuinely good enough for any non-vehicle enemy on any difficulty imo, the only weapons you'll ever need are a plasma pistol and assault rifle
Where were you when i was growing up? An Irish Uma Thurman Halo geek!
1:29:20 The music track is literally called "Finale". You nailed it!
Ufff hot
Haha no way! That's awesome
Yep, it's one of my personal favorites from the soundtrack, the whole album's pretty good but you got to have a favorite
One of the best halo games ever. Almost as good as halo 3 itself.
I hope you check out the logs about Sadie because that story is just as amazing and if you found all the logs, the game changes a bit
Very awesome play through if you wanna learn more about the characters from this game I’d highly recommend the book Halo New Blood as it continues their story
NOOOO ROOKIE🥹
55:14 that was a weird jump, I forgot about that tbh. 2 humans wearing almost 200 hundred pounds or like 90 kg falling 20ish feet, those legs and backs are done lmao
26:00
the flying aliens increase the shields for all of the other Covenant around them.
1:02:15 now that's going in the montage
1:41:26 Halo snipers have the ability to ricochet off at the right angles like that, the beam rifle could do it as well
Would love for you to react to all the audio logs, and specifically something with that cop that helps you in the tunnels.... :). Also love how this game really goes into the intricacies of the covenant digging for the ark that we didn't see.
2:18 "You can't run away now, sorry! You're committed to this war."
"Feel guilty about that, though!"
Lucy, they threw grenades at you! 😂😂😂
38:40 "So they had Grunts guarding the 1st level. Now theyve got Jackals guarding this level......this must be the 'asshole" level" 🤣
Congrats on finishing 👍
For Halo Reach (Although Legends is next in line) I would recommend watching the Cinematic Trailers "Birth Of A Spartan" and "Deliver Hope", both tell stories of members of the game's Noble Team! Love You
All the bungie halos have great stories. But odst and reach as side/prequels are special. Can’t wait for her to experience reach
"beeping again" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 "need 🏥 pack" this has been a great stream 🙏
From the beginning you know the end
The Cop will not die if you have collected 29/30 of the videologs by the time you play that mission, he will jump and keep walking with you till he reaches a frozen room where you can find the last videolog and Sadie's dad. But I don't want to spoil how or why this happens, but yeah, that's where the Rookie interacts directly with Sadie's story. That side story is not really a side story, is very important, but finding all videologs can take you a few hours, but I recommend you to react them from YT (just search Sadie's story), and also watch the alternative progression of the mission, just search "Halo 3 ODST Corrupt Cop".
Amazing video Lucy nice to see Buck and Dare reunited again
Agreed! Thank you
Halo 3 ODST, one of the best video games of all time.
You know actually there is gonna be a different outcome for the Plotarmor Cop if you have found all the Collectable audiologs before this mission.
My head canon is that Johnson is a clone and they keep popping one out as needed.
Hell yeah, watching this from my lunch break
Lucy you never used the exploding covenant crates 😂 in any of the games
Did she ever figure out that the engineer was guiding the player throughout rookies segments.
Just wanted to say Hello and brighten your day a bit!👋 😊 ☺️ 😌
Made my fucking night. Ur amazing keep it up.
This game and Halo 3 need a Halo 2 style remake with the epic cutscenes, also get ready for Reach
if you havent already, i reccomened to look up a video about all the audio logs, you will enjoy it, it be nice to see what you think about it too.
You're going to love Halo Reach
Loved the gameplay Lucy ODST is definitely the calmer Halo lmao can’t wait for you to play Halo reach 🔥
Thank you!
@@LUCYJROBYNYes Halo Reach tommorrow hopefully. But I gotta wait and sleep and stuff😢
It had a very Noire feeling.
I sometimes hate how the lighting would make me think that phantom is elites 1:21:27
1:37:34 sick nade bounce
You should definitely watch all the audio logs for Halo 3: ODST, it's a great story
Absolutely will!
When she said data center like data center 😂
Data or data
@ definitely data 🫡
You know, Buck pisses me off on the highway segment, especially on legendary. It's like he can't talk and shoot at the same time.
But credit where it's due, he doesn't take a nap every 5 minutes like Forge
That was quite brave of them to go with the soft jazzy music when all previous Halos was pounding rock drums.
41:50 The superintendent said he wasn't a cop though 😅
No, he said "crime doesn't pay". Even cops have been known to break laws.
@mitchellhayward6492 you should click the link in my comment ( 41:50 ) and learn what was said.
@mitchellhayward6492 not everyone is the same. For some, the mission or client is the most important.
I was curious about the scene with the lighter, epic @ 01:46:49 🙂 .. and the szene "Heck, Im not talking about the alien " @ 01:44:50 ✨.. so you do Reach as next ? .. dang I need more tissues ✨🌧
1:41:26 the face 😂
I don't know anything about this game.. 😅 But nice music. Just like Skyrim has great music. 😄
I love your video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
sadie's story. sadie's story. girl watch it asap
got my popcorn for this video lol
Enjoy!
They hate Veronica because she is a ONI soldier and the ONI in halo it's like very very very one of the bad guys in the saga 😂 they are like the illuminates.
And there is some rivalry between the ONI and the UNSC (more context in books)
1:08:30 but he kept trying to contact you on the radio he was the only one worried about you
Halo Reach is coming, the fall of the planet and the second most important of humanity
you gotta watch a video with all of Sadie's story before you move on to the next game. Also, Reach has probably the best story in the entire series, hope you have fun!
Skyrim has a good soundtrack too yknow
REACH ❤
38:03 nonono no one is here 😅😅😅
How'd you like that there was no flood in this game?
Congratulations on completing ODST Lucy I hope you enjoyed it.
How many streams did it take you to complete it if I may ask because I remember getting one notification from twitch saying that you started this but that was it. I must have been in hospital when you finished it live on twitch oh well.
Once again I hope you enjoyed it and I’m really looking forward to watching you play halo reach and halo 4.
Hope you're well! I completed it in two streams.
@ hey Lucy yeah I’m doing good on the slow road to recovery and thanks for asking.
Also 2 streams wow. I take it you don’t die as much as you did in halo 1,2,3 so well done. Or were the streams longer??
