"Crispies" are just what would be called "scraps" in fish and chip shops in the north of england

My 2nd job was a cook at LJS
They tore down the LJS and put up a chipotle, I have been to the chipotle and did not care for it vs LSJ!~
I really liked going to LSJ, the extra crispys u could ask for, that was one of the best parts, an the tarter sauce was not bad either!~

I loved it as a kid. Found and actual open location about eight years ago. It was so filthy and disgusting, I couldn't eat there. And that place is gone now too.
I've been to Long John Silver's a few times in my life and it was never my choice as I was a kid and I also do not eat seafood. I got chicken and fries every time and they were always underwhelming to downright awful each time... Thankfully I am old enough to be able to go elsewhere if my family decides they want LJS.
I loved Captain D's... much better than Long John Silver's... wish they hadn't closed down!
I think I prefer Long John Silvers over Captain D's. I used to have a Long John Silvers several miles from me that I would eat at on occasions, and there was one in Plano where I worked at for a while that I would eat at frequently. It isn't bad, but it was definitely hit or miss (of course, McDonalds is hit or miss as well). The Long John Silvers not far from me closed around June 2023. A Captain D's opened up around September 2023 and, to be honest, I really don't like it that much. I was hoping it was better, but it was disappointing.
Maybe I can find a local restaurant that serves up fried fish that isn't catfish.

I've eaten at LJS maybe three or four times in the past 50 years. I really don't know why I ever went back after the first time. Their fried fish always has an odor that reminded me of a musty wash cloth. At least they were consistent.
Those 'crispies' is what the chip shops gave to the homeless for free in the UK..
