I rarely eat fast food but my favorite menu item at Taco Bell is the Nacho Belle Grande. My late husband who came from the former USSR told me that the joke over there was which fast food restaurant wasn't invited to open over there - Taco Bell - because they once had a tag line that said "Run for the border", and Soviet authorities didn't want their citizens getting any ideas about running for the borders over there.
The borders had 10 foot tall cyclone fences with electric barbed wire at the top. A border guard patrol vehicle came by every hour. They had to be sure no one escaped the gulags.
Not a Taco Bell story, but my mother and aunt were also from the former Soviet Union. When they were young girls, they were among the first customers to wait in line for the opening of the first Moscow McDonald's in 1990. Customer service was never really a thing in the Soviet Union, so the Russian managers and supervisors who had been hired to work at McDonald's and learned about greeting customers were obsessed with getting it right. On Day 1, they would correct workers if they didn't smile and say exactly what they were supposed to. My mom and aunt joked that after they moved to the States, they didn't ever get quite that good of customer service at McDonald's ever again!
God bless taco bell. For years this was the closest thing to Mexican food I could get in my area. Also the $1 beef burrito kept me fed all through high school and college.
The entire world making jokes about Taco Bell giving you digestion problems always made me feel like I was going crazy. In my experience, Taco Bell is by far the least likely fast food joint to upset my stomach. My friends just laugh at me when I say that and I feel like Ralphie on Santa’s lap in a Christmas Story as they mock me. I’ll assume any likes on this comment imply that you agree with me and are much appreciated. It will make me feel less insane.
TBH same here especially since most fast food places base their meals around sandwiches, bread and breaded fried products which don't get along with my stomach so Taco Bell tacos are always a safe bet for me if I have to eat fast food.
100% agree with you and i worked for em xD. Tbh its really the beans that upset some people, that and sometimes the beef. Depends on their digestive system. Haven't had anyone have issues in our restrooms either and i had to clean those things.. so idk where it even came from xD. TacoBell is the only thing i could eat for months as my only meal for the day without having issues so, theres that too
the joke and stereotypes come from white people unable to handle beans. Most white people don't eat real Mexican food so when they eat taco bell, the fiber gives them movements. It mainly comes from the mid west and east coast people who don't have real Mexican food.
Sonic will have me on the bathroom a few times the next day. McDonalds will absolutely destroy my stomach. But Taco Bell never really messes with me. In fact, I have to eat a whole lot of it with diablo sauce to actually make my stomach upset. But, I guess that would apply for any food items really.
Same, live in California but it makes more sense when you realize Taco Bell isn't really competing with real Mexican food, it's something different to me. Taco Bell is good for what it is and no one should go there thinking its actual Mexican food. It's stoner American Mexican essentially lol
What about the Doritos Locos Tacos chips? Chips inspired by a taco which was itself inspired by chips... which were inspired by nachos. Also was expecting some info on the semi-exclusivity of Baja Blast.
Actually broke down and hit a Taco Bell drive thru just a few days ago. Figured I'd get my old favorite from back in the day, the natcho bell grande. Flavor was pretty much what I remembered but the portion had shrunk way down and the price was way up. Another victim of "shrinkflation"!
Bidenflation. Along those lines, I noticed you can now order a taco with "extra beef." So they are upcharging for an common ingredient which they are reducing.

If you are not eating Taco Bell right now, I highly suggest going to Taco Bell and ordering something, then coming back to eat it while watching this video about Taco Bell. I am eating taco Bell Right now as I watch this. I like Taco Bell.
I still remember once arriving at work one morning, smelling the most foul smell about 1/4 mile from the franchise I worked at. A coworker, had forgotten to fill the pressure cookers with water. He turned them on with Dry Beans, Lard and Salt only! What a mess. 😂😂😂
Taco bell is good morning after drinking food. It's all ground up for you, like a soup wrapped in an underdone cracker. Not sure about while your drinking though.

I remember going to Taco Bell regularly in the mid/late 70's. There were three Fred Meyers shopping centers in Salem, and each had a Taco Bell right nearby. Back then, they had a very limited menu -- taco, green sauce burrito, red sauce burrito, and a few other things, but my mom liked the first three because they were each 33 cents. We were allowed $1 each; plus a drink, she could buy lunch for herself and three kids for very little money. ^_^ It's kind of amazing how simple Taco Bell was back then, and how it developed into the crazy menu that they have had for the last 20-30 years.
Me too. I feel old and do remember it being good because they only had a few items. It was better and in high school it was good for after high school senior proms 😂
I remember the Chihuahu! He was so cute! I had three plushies of him and every time you squeezed him he said” Yo quiero Taco Bell!” Loved it every time! 😂

Crunch Wrap Supreme. Oh my God, it’s literally the best thing on the menu. Here in my area, we have a combination Taco Bell and KFC. It’s small but it’s really good!
I've been in love with TB since I was a teen. I've never had any digestion issues with it. Heck, I just had some a couple days ago. I'm excited that a Taco Bell is coming to the area I moved to finally!
There are no wings lol? What country do you live in homie? Dude up in indonacistan talking about wings at taco bell. Those definitely weren't chicken wings lol, dude was eatin the new bat wing chalupa.
@@iwatchyoutube6539 Wings came out for a limited time but sold out fast a while back, and now they are back this year. They are good but overpriced, like 5 tiny wings for $6. But they may be there for good now because YUM owns Taco Bell and KFC, and KFC just took wings off their menu.
Hey Penny and dad, you guys really no how to live and I really appreciate you trying things and reviewing them. The food doesn’t look to bad, I have never been to Del Taco only Toco Bell. May have to broaden my horizons, lol. Thank you and god bless.
That was good fun to watch! I can't say I have a favorite item; they have so many options I try something different every time when I want some of their food.
One aspect of the original taco is it was just an alternate method of selling a burger, inspired by Mexican street food. That's why it contains ground beef, lettuce, tomato and cheddar, none of which appear in a real Mexican taco.
I'm old enough to remember when the tacos were twice the size that they are now. If the trend keeps up, you'll be able to fit four in the palm of your hand by the end of the decade.
I know people don’t think about fast food when trying to lose weight, but I actually lost about 80lbs eating their bean burritos everyday. Very thankful for what Taco Bell did for me. Also it never upset my stomach eating there every day, I don’t know where that rumor came from
I agree! People who actually look at the nutritional information for various fast food places will be surprised, I think. KFC original recipe chicken? Mostly CHICKEN. Taco Bell? Mostly meat and veggies. The sodium will get you every time everywhere, but in terms of nutritional content...way better than a big mac slathered in sauce for sure...
It makes absolutely no sense that the chihuahua ads were everywhere, well known, and had no impact on sales. I still think of those ads, decades later. Drop the chalupa. Yes put it down
I just had it last week! My favorite thing is a crunchwrap supreme or a grilled steak burrito. Drink wise I love the Cinnabon delight iced coffee or the Baja Blast slushie
My family is vegetarian and I have been a vegetarian my whole life and growing up Taco Bell was literally the only fast food place in my area where we could get a full meal
I love Taco Bell! While my wife was in the hospital, I was eating at Taco Bell almost every day. But she's well now, and cooking again, and that's even better than the Bell!
Also when Taco Bell first opened in my neighborhood, on the menu board, they included a pronunciation key after each item that my friends and I thought was hysterical. Things like: Burrito (burr--EE-toe). They also had an item that was basically a sloppy joe (tie to that previous video) but with their taco meat on it. It was called the Bell Beefer. I ordered it once almost on a dare and could barely order it without laughing. It wasn't around long, probably because they were wasting too many hamburger buns. And finally -- no mention of the Taco Salad? That was around for a long time, because if you put the word "salad" on it, it must be healthier, right? Basically the same ingredients as everything else but in a large almost open clamshell taco shell. They briefly tried a seafood taco salad that didn't last long at all. Then there was the discontinuation and return of the Mexican Pizza. Again, you could easily do a second video on Taco Bell to cover all of these things and others.
@@rffrice you're right, it is technically a tostada but I think people like the novelty of it as Taco Bell tends to experiment more with their menu compared to other fast food chains.
Taco Bell also had a BELL BEEFER. The Bell Beefer was essentially a taco in burger form, with taco meat, diced onions, shredded lettuce and mild sauce. It was served up from the '70s to the mid-'90s, and made a brief return in 2012 to certain stores.
I remember back in the '90's a chihuahua that was left alone in a car with the engine left on managed to place the car into drive, right into the windows of a Taco Bell. Also I really miss their tator tots, deep-fried and salty, they were the best!
YES FINALLY! I have been asking for a Taco bell video since the creation of this channel. Now lets see if they cover alll the menu items like I asked for ;) Edit: they didn't cover the menu items (the stuff that makes Taco Bell nostalgic), but it was a good video none the less
I'm glad to see Taco Bell is finally making a come back here in Australia. They tired about 20 odd years, under the Tricon branding, by joining with KFC. It failed and Taco Bell exited the market only a year or so later. I feel the pricing and limited menu didn't help either. They seem to be doing better now and are expanding their stores, but it's been a slow expansion, a smart move IMO.
Cheesy Bean and Rice burrito, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, and Mexican Pizza are my favorites! Yum! When you are hungry, stressed, need something fast and is Mexican food, Taco Bell is my go to! Thanks for the video, very interesting! 😍😋🌮💗
I use to love the $1 Frito burritos they were huge and filling. but they dont have them anymore, at least not like they were. I love the breakfast crunch wraps though. those things are good. 🤤🌯
2:37 I was getting ready to say a true all-in-one would include Long John Silver's and A&W too, but Wikipedia says those brands were both sold off in way back in 2011, which I wasn't aware of until just now. It's a shame, because I would've loved to have seen that monstrosity of a fast food restaurant. It would be like a standalone food court sans mall.
I use to get LAVA sauce on a 5 layer burrito everyday for lunch. Really lava sauce on anything they had. That sauce was my crack, and caramel apple empanada to finish the meal. I don’t eat there anymore but if they brought it back, I’d have to get my fix every day again.
I miss the Baja Chalupa Supreme! That was THE BEST hands down! I do love the Supreme Hard taco. Even living in an area that has THE BEST mexican food in the world, I just cant get past the flavor and nostalgia on Taco Bell!!
I grew up in Virginia. We didn't get Taco Bell until the late 80's. When it first opened, the drive thru line was blocks long. After a couple years it was just another fast food place. I do love Taco Bell though.
I live in the Chicagoland area and when the Bulls were killing it in the 90s Taco Bell sold a Bulls burrito. I don’t remember much from it, other than it contained rice. But I do remember loving them.
I miss having green onions and black olives as topping for stuff at Taco Bell. Happy they brought back the Mexican pizza though, it and the replacement for the 7 layer burrito are pretty much all I eat there.
I think the green onions had some kind of salmonella outbreak and after the yanked them away they never returned… 😢 Sometimes I add the chopped white onions for a dime but it’s still not the same…
In 1998 when I was 19 years old I worked graveyard shift for a new Texaco gas station in Fairview, Oregon on the weekends. They had an A&W and Taco Bell built into the station. In order to get more hours, the manager offered me a position with the Taco Bell section… needless to say I lasted one day before I quit. However, I learned a few things… EVERYTHING came in sealed plastic bags. So on my graveyard shift I drank unlimited A&W root beer on tap. Also, I may have taken a bag of Taco Bell meat and Nacho Cheese home with me. My girlfriend and all our friends couldn’t eat it all in a week and the rest pretty much went to waste. It took me about 5 years before I’d eat Taco Bell again.
Navy boot camp when I went had yum brands like Taco Bell and Pizza Hut . After weeks in boot camp eating a taco and personal pan pizza we one of the most reward experiences of my life lol😂
My favorite taco bell food items is hands down the half pound cheesy potato burrito. $2 for a half pound of food. That absolute biggest bang for your buck. Not to mention it was delicious. Really wish they kept it around. Even if they hiked the price on it.
10:55 when it comes to Guantanamo bay in movies, the Harold and Kumar movie always comes to mind instead of tom cruise's one. Maybe this channel can make a video on Guantanamo bay's famous cockmeat sandwiches 🤣

i got the wings, just to try them. 5 wings $8. super small, very tasty, will never buy them again
Hey Penny and dad, you guys really no how to live and I really appreciate you trying things and reviewing them. The food doesn’t look to bad, I have never been to Del Taco only Toco Bell. May have to broaden my horizons, lol. Thank you and god bless.
Taco Bell Crunch Wrap. Give me give me give me give me. Has to be the most brilliant food item they have ever come up with.
Great video. Lot's of fun to watch. You get my subscription.
That was good fun to watch! I can't say I have a favorite item; they have so many options I try something different every time when I want some of their food.
This channel is pure gold
One aspect of the original taco is it was just an alternate method of selling a burger, inspired by Mexican street food. That's why it contains ground beef, lettuce, tomato and cheddar, none of which appear in a real Mexican taco.
Well, except for the tomato in the form of pico de gallo, but otherwise totally agree.
lettuce and tomato do sometimes
What appears in a real Mexican taco?
The most impressive thing about this video is the Descendents I don't wanna grow up mug at 10:21. One of my favorite bands.
"I like food / food tastes good..."
I'm old enough to remember when the tacos were twice the size that they are now. If the trend keeps up, you'll be able to fit four in the palm of your hand by the end of the decade.
"They were twice the size when I was half as big"
@@XXXXX8 - They were twice the size when I was in my 20's, so yeah, half as big _around_.
0:34 one of my all time fav movies. i saw a foreign version where it was pizza hut(also owned by PepsiCo) instead of taco bell in the movie
I know people don’t think about fast food when trying to lose weight, but I actually lost about 80lbs eating their bean burritos everyday. Very thankful for what Taco Bell did for me. Also it never upset my stomach eating there every day, I don’t know where that rumor came from
They’re stuff tends to be way lighter than most things from a burger joint, plus a lot of gluten free options with the corn shell tacos
😮😢😂
Get that protein
When food only stays in you for a few hours, you will lose weight.
I agree! People who actually look at the nutritional information for various fast food places will be surprised, I think. KFC original recipe chicken? Mostly CHICKEN. Taco Bell? Mostly meat and veggies. The sodium will get you every time everywhere, but in terms of nutritional content...way better than a big mac slathered in sauce for sure...
such a fantastic upload ngl.
It makes absolutely no sense that the chihuahua ads were everywhere, well known, and had no impact on sales. I still think of those ads, decades later. Drop the chalupa. Yes put it down
YOOO!!! Shout-out to the NASA scientist with a Descendents mug @ 10:20. Absolute legend!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻
I just had it last week! My favorite thing is a crunchwrap supreme or a grilled steak burrito. Drink wise I love the Cinnabon delight iced coffee or the Baja Blast slushie
Do burritos have beans in them?
@@MichaelTheophilus906 It depends on which one you get
My family is vegetarian and I have been a vegetarian my whole life and growing up Taco Bell was literally the only fast food place in my area where we could get a full meal
is your cat vegan
@@riner9 Well considering that I myself am not even a vegan, it would be pretty weird if I forced a carnivorous animal to be vegan.
Dunno if you guys ever did Arby's, but if you haven't, I know it's gotta have a great history!
Sad history.
I love Taco Bell! While my wife was in the hospital, I was eating at Taco Bell almost every day. But she's well now, and cooking again, and that's even better than the Bell!
That 7$ box be hitting in hard times
I used to love getting 7-layer burritoes - cheap, filling, and relatively healthy. Then I moved away to a country without Taco Bells.
They discontinued them!! 😭
You're making me HUNGRY! Love your videos.
Not sure why it's putting a line through part of my post by the way...
Thats not a big bad beefer...
1990's Taco Bell was the best. They sold 6-pack tacos for under 5 bucks.🌮🔔
Taco Bell was my fast food in my youth. I was mad when they removed the Mexican Pizza the first time.
I hear how much people love the Mexican pizza, what exactly is so good about it? I don’t understand the hype it just looks like a weird tostada
@@rffrice you're right, it is technically a tostada but I think people like the novelty of it as Taco Bell tends to experiment more with their menu compared to other fast food chains.
I stopped going after they got rid of the Meximelt 😢
My favorite has to be the chalupa and the Baja Blast. Those things hit the spot after a night of partying.
Now lets see if they cover alll the menu items like I asked for ;)
Edit: they didn't cover the menu items (the stuff that makes Taco Bell nostalgic), but it was a good video none the less
That Taco Bell chihuahua was the best ad thing in the 90’s! 😭
Great video! Chalupas are my favorite! And a great blip for @TheReportOfTheWeek channel ❤ 👐
Thx for the vid. Love Taco Bell and is my 2nd fav fast food place after McDonald's.
Do they use Kangaroo meat or Wombat meat? Perhaps the Tasmanian devil. Sir would you like to try our new bush tucker taco?
1:06 Also San Bernardino, just like McDonald's!! Must be the ultimate place to start a fast food company.
Love your videos!
Excellent video history, even though I'm a Del Taco fan. ✔⬆👍😎
Cheesy Bean and Rice burrito, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, and Mexican Pizza are my favorites! Yum! When you are hungry, stressed, need something fast and is Mexican food, Taco Bell is my go to! Thanks for the video, very interesting! 😍😋🌮💗
These videos are great, never change your voiceover guy!
I use to love the $1 Frito burritos they were huge and filling. but they dont have them anymore, at least not like they were. I love the breakfast crunch wraps though. those things are good. 🤤🌯
Still have every Taco Bell dog, in the wrapper, still functional. 😂
Last time I checked, they're still not worth squat.
The greatest prank Taco Bell ever pulled wasn’t the Liberty Bell “purchase” but trying to put a Taco Bell in Mexico.
Taco Bell is my favorite fast food joint and its history makes me cherish it even more.
Favorite menu items, Double Decker, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, spicy Doritos locos tacos, and gotta love a classic soft and crunchy taco
The Doritos Locos Taco 100% would've bought them some time in Mexico, I ate nothing but those for like 2 weeks when they 1st came out ahah
Now I want some Taco Bell. Thanks Weird History! You probably boosted their sales by 10% 😂
I had a few different versions of that dog as toys when you squeeze him, he talked.
I use to get LAVA sauce on a 5 layer burrito everyday for lunch. Really lava sauce on anything they had. That sauce was my crack, and caramel apple empanada to finish the meal. I don’t eat there anymore but if they brought it back, I’d have to get my fix every day again.
RIP Taco Kid. Gone, but not forgotten.
I’m very fond of the plain quesadillas at Taco Bell. The enchiladas were delicious; I really miss them. I’m also a fan of their nachos.
Let’s see some history of In ‘n’ Out Burger! Love these!
I love me some Taco Bell. My favorite is the old standby - the hard shell taco. They're so damn good.
A history of McDonald's Happy Meal Toys would be an intriguing watch!
Eating Taco Bell goodness while watching this video. Got to try the new Crispy Melt Taco!
San Bernardino invented fast food, even though it’s a trashed city it still has beautiful parts.
Naugles was actually fantastic in the mid 80's. They had a HUGE beef burrito for $3 and I miss the sauce so much. Best FF deal in history.
I miss having green onions and black olives as topping for stuff at Taco Bell. Happy they brought back the Mexican pizza though, it and the replacement for the 7 layer burrito are pretty much all I eat there.
I remember when they had green onions on the cheesy fiesta potatoes! They were so good
@@lorla85 Right?! They should bring the onions and olives back.
Yea, I remember when they did that on the Mexican pizza and the nachos! That was the best, what was the reason for stopping that? 😢
I think the green onions had some kind of salmonella outbreak and after the yanked them away they never returned… 😢
Sometimes I add the chopped white onions for a dime but it’s still not the same…
@@lorla85 Oh yea! I think I remember that now! Thanks for clarifying that for me! 😉
What I miss the most is the taco salad! When I ate 1 salad,I didn't need to eat tacos or anything else that was enough for me!
It took me about 5 years before I’d eat Taco Bell again.
awesome video
Navy boot camp when I went had yum brands like Taco Bell and Pizza Hut . After weeks in boot camp eating a taco and personal pan pizza we one of the most reward experiences of my life lol😂
The Beefy 5-layer has been a guilty pleasure of mine for so many years.
My favorite taco bell food items is hands down the half pound cheesy potato burrito. $2 for a half pound of food. That absolute biggest bang for your buck. Not to mention it was delicious. Really wish they kept it around. Even if they hiked the price on it.
Nope
10:55 when it comes to Guantanamo bay in movies, the Harold and Kumar movie always comes to mind instead of tom cruise's one. Maybe this channel can make a video on Guantanamo bay's famous cockmeat sandwiches 🤣
Please do Fazoli’s. Often wondered how they started.
I love the steal a base steal a taco promotion for the World Series 😄⚾️🌮
When I lived in Japan, I seriously missed Mexican food and Taco Bell badly.
The 7 Layer Burrito is my fave; it has been my comfort food after many of night of alcohol indulgence. Back in da day.
