Lenny by SRV is one of my favourite guitar instrumentals of all time. Here I've covered the El Mocambo version. If ever I'm feeling low on motivation I watch Live at the El Mocambo and I'm instantly inspired to pick up the guitar. Next level stuff! This cover is dedicated to Stevie.

all you need is a cigarette hanging out of your mouth and sweat dripping off you face. 100% the best cover of this ive ever heard.
😂
That's exactly what I was thinking.
You did this absolute justice man. Ive really got in to SRV in the last year or so. ive realised what a great guitarist he was and your playing is also exceptional to cover this the way you have here.
Thanks a lot!
Yes everybody can learn but it is a feel comeing from your heart & soul
Making it thu to your fingers &hands.. if you just did note by note & there's no feel no passion it's going to sound different! this is one of the better Lenny covers that I've ever heard
This guy definitely has recreated very close vibe of the man him self
And that is a pure compliment even comeing close to the srv.
If I only had the audio to listen to, I would have thought it was Stevie himself that was playing. Flabbergasted again. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
The way u play that guitar, killin' it. The chosen one here
When they say "everybody can learn" that is true. But this is in the head,in the ears, the ability to read in the feelings. Most of us can do it only in the head. You have a gift.
Thank you!
@L Smith No need to shout.
accurate
@@danioxie shouting is needed when someone tries to say "you have a gift/talent". Your not born with a talent ,its acuired through dedication and thousands of hours practicing......
@@seanmannguitar
Sean-
How long did it take you to learn this?
2 weeks after work?
2 months?
Real nice job. 57 y o guitarist here. Fan since’82- ish.
Refreshing to hear different versions instead of the same old recordings
Seen SRV 4! times around Chicago. Best was standing, 3rd row at the Aragon. Got to him play out of his amp, not the p.a
Having now seen SRV’s video Close to 1000 times I have to say you are the BEST cover of his original I have seen Sean in almost 40 years! Flawless version here , tone , feel , timing , subtle nuances and EVERYTHING that Stevie put into his original. He’s Smiling ear to ear I’ll bet ya in the Great beyond. Very well done Mann👍👍. Thanks for making me smile now as well “ ear to ear” 😊.
Thanks Stephen!
This dude's talent is next level. Absolutely flawless!
Cheers man!
Whoever disliked this video cant even play the first chord of the song right
Do you take requests??
I’d love it if you could to “couldn’t stand the weather” and then rip into “going down”
From the penultimate show album??
That transition is so powerfully Stevie 🤙🎸
This is just amazing Sean. You play with so much feeling it just gushes out of my speakers. You are a master of the Stratocaster!
Thank you!
It’s a very relaxing piece of music but you give it the same attitude and attention as Stevie, bless you for keeping him alive 🙏🙏🙏
Sean your playing is something else man 🔥
Cheers Jackson!

Wow! Just Wow! I can only imagine the hours, days, weeks, months and years of dedication and perseverance you spent to get to this level. You executed that piece flawlessly and beautifully. Simply phenomenal dude. Superb job!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you!
its needs to be more aggressive , grindy. Macombo version was nails
This either proves SRV wasn't an alien, or you are from his home planet, of texas
wait... hold on... my friends said that Stevie is already dead... he should watch this...
I had to replay 3:36 like 10 fuckin times Jesus Christ brotha. Incredible !!
Please req look at little sister
5:15 jaja thats nice, srv made a mistake i think with the 3th position and you did the same isnt it?
I've watched Stevie's video a hundred times and no one plays it like him except for you .
I don't know how you do it. Dang man. So impressive. Just so damn impressive.
This is magical, truly one of the top guitarists I’ve ever heard.
You're actually a little cleaner on the fast runs than Stevie. He had slightly wider dynamics (volume wise), which I prefer, but now I'm just splitting hairs. Also, the difference between his clean and dirty tones was more extreme than yours. Your style seems a tiny bit more consistent tone and volume wise, the emotional swings are less, as if Steve's playing was melodramatic, almost bipolar.
When I listen to Stevie live, I get the impression I'm hearing someone who is about to break apart. There's something desperately raw on display, tragically human. It's as if Steveie went to the witch doctor to exorcize powerful deamons, and the doctor handed him a guitar and said. "Here, do it yourself."
Anyhow...you do you.
You are incredible!!
Nice! One more for my drinking playlist 😂. Is it bad that I have a drinking playlist? Probably…
Очень красиво 🔥! Очень искренняя вещь,просто мечта!.. Спасибо тебе!👏👏💥👏
imagine playing that live...cigg on your lips... volume and tone controls tweaking...
Sean, I would love to get an insight on your approach on improving on your guitar journey, practice by learning songs, excercises and so on, thanks!
Yeaaaah!!! thats how its done! thank you man for keeping the great SRV alive!
yes. That’s what I waited for. Nice new guitar by the way. love the roasted worn tint of the neck.
48 seconds in and I'm loving it. Glad to see it's El Mocambo version.
Your choruses aren't the best i've seen (still very good) but holy shit are your solos incredible. You sound better than the stevie tribute I saw a couple years ago
Sean : me pusiste la piel de gallina!! Debo decir que escuche y vi el video varias veces , es una interpretacion exquisita de un clasico!!! hay sentiminto en cada nota !!: Bello , me he emocionado ,Gracias!!!
Lenny had said that whenever Stevie played Lenny it made her cry, every time. I'm pretty sure she would have been in tears with yours also. Simply amazing.
So f ing tasty!!!!
Off the chart! A certain Texan is looking down from above with a big smile.
I love this song :)
Every time that i watch this video i want to press Thumb up, but I can't because I've allready done it before. As many of your videos, Sean. Very impessive playing!
Oh man been waiting for this a long time … thank you sir
mannnn the massive explosive lick at 6:53 is one i've been trying to learn for years and just cant seem to figure out any of the notes lmao. maybe one day! (or maybe a tab for that specific lick! (i suck at reading fingers and deciphering notes via ear from childhood hearing loss) aside from that, what an incredible cover man! well done!
I aim to play this has good has you one day I'm not far off I'm told but I'll never be happy till I feel its right lol
You missed a note. Just one. Now get out there and set the world on fire witchyo bad ass!!
That took hours upon hours of work and a ton of talent. Beautiful rendition.
Thanks Nick!
Sean Mann SHREDS. Thanks, buddy. This is a real treat.
Wie immer super coole Special greetings from r München Germany Steve WEA
great playing Sean. faithful between the original cd's version and Live at El Mocambo. :)
greetings.
Maury :)
Not everyone can do this and not an easy song to cover. Awesome!
“ it’s easy! .... once you know how! “
It takes “x” amount of time.
Just like fishing for big brims, strawberry perch, yellow perch, and big bucket mouths
It’s EASY...once you know HOW!
Bs. It’s hard. Takes years. Or a lot of time alone to finally decide that you want to play good guitar
Sing on brotha, play on drummer
Fantastic tone and love the dynamics. Well done sir!
The only thing missing from this cover is the cigarette and the ton of sweat, other than that, this is very beautiful man ♥️
The absolute best cover on UA-cam hands down
Excelente Cover! Sos un genio!
Bona fide
i don't normally comment on youtube but I have to on this because it's out of this world. Incredible mate!
Love your stuff man, I'm currently studying SRV and Hendrix and I've learnt so much via your videos and courses, keep it up man 🙏 Any chance you can tell me if you got 3 or 5 springs in your strat to get that lush vibrato ? I have 3 and consider switching to 5 for multiple reason including hoping the vibrato will sound better. Have a great day man ! 🌻
Thanks a lot. I have 5 springs in this guitar
Все поливаешь , Стив Рэй Воэн?.........
Sensacional Brow!!!! Great tone!!! Great play !!! 🎯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍👍👍👉🇧🇷🎸
Moi je ni connais pas tous en guitares mais les barrés et le tiré que je sur la feder
So so so so so good. Could listen all day. Keep crushing it man.
Stevie was so good hey. Best copy I've seen to date. Keep up the good wrk
Thanks!
Kral
Incredible work... you have studied the GOAT and are one of the best out there imo.
I have been practicing this one for years, you make it look effortless. What’s the secret?? Great cover of a beautiful SRV song 🙏🙏
I've come to the conclusion that Sean Mann is SRV's reincarnation. That's the only reasonable explanation.
@@kendallcovell9386 Stevie had a son right before his helicopter crash. That son is Sean Mann.
Practice makes perfect
The secret is borderline obsessive compulsive dedication to your craft. You have to play like it's your job and then some, and seeing how most adults simply don't have the ability to dedicate every hour of every day to practicing, it would appear that an obsessive dedication to the craft would have had to develop pretty early on in life. It's what I would do if I won the lottery. Throw myself completely into playing.
Would you ever consider breaking down your settings in Helix Native? I have an HX Stomp and very interested in your settings
I have a tone tutorial video up on my channel!
Just amazing!! Out of curiosity, which pickups are you using? Thanks!!
These are Fraser handwounds
If you take requests I'd like you to cover little wing of stevie in El mocambo please. Thanks and this version of lenny is awesome dude
Thanks man!
Sean that is awesome sounds like the original. awesome!
How do you even get to the point where you're able to play something like this. I know the same old answer oh just practice but I play the same licks I've learned over and over again and I dont learn much new in the guitar solo field.
Learn songs note for note, by ear. Play along to get the phrasing perfect for each lick. I’ve tried learning scales/modes/theory but this is the only way I could get to a point where I’m happy with my playing.
Perfect tone! excelent ! like very much!
I think u should make originial song
Gsus. Unreal man. Incredibly well done. What pickups are in that axe?
They’re Fraser handwounds
Beautiful ❤❤❤
Amazing , best cover 👍👍👍
El Mocambo…made me want to start playing guitar.
❤❤❤
Did I post one comment yet? No? That’s unforgivable!!!!
Dude… what can I say? I’m listening SRV since I’m 18 years old… I’m almost 50 today and I feel the same as the first time! Since, I discovered your channel and your work… No doubt… I still feel it! 🙏🏻🔥
Cheers for the support!
Dude😳😳
Very good definitely the closest I’ve heard to Stevie ray Vaughan, in my opinion your one of the cleanest sounding guitar players. A song I’ve been hoping you would do for awhile is 3rd stone from the sun the way Stevie ray Vaughan did it that would be awesome with the same style of video.
Very high quality !
Would you play keith Richards someday 🔥🔥🔥
This is crazy good dude. My favorite cover so far! 😃
Btw im the guy who uses a pen as a whammy bar.
Anytime I come across something I haven’t seen of yours, I am totally blown away. Phenomenal playing!
Sick bro .. Timing and feel .. So on point 🙌🏽👏🏼🙌🏽
Wauw this is really amazing!!!!
it does not count if you are not sweating or smoking a cigarette. Amazing!
Talent, not to mention hard work. Good job!
Sean - just stumbled across you… I appreciate you making this song yours as much as you also honor SRV’s heart behind the music. What a fun jam…
While the camera work is nice, I’m curious.. was this taken in one cut?
Cheers! This is a few takes put together to get the different angles
Intoxicating brother! Got the feel, it’s Stevie, but not… if you catch my drift
When are you gonna offer tabs or a lesson on this!? Neeeed it. Amazing job man by far my favorite cover of any song ever done
I felt the love in every tone. Good to see you carry on the srv legacy.
Is there a tab out there for this?
mr. Sean this is amazing, in middle of class but enjoying this masterpiece :)
thank you for this, nailed it... tone is beautiful.
🙏
amazing. how many hours of practice did it take
Impossible to count 😂
Extraordinary
Amazinggggg 🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
Magnificent playing. Also sick shirt bruh.
Cheers James!
Awesome job sir. A new sub
Almost clinical in execution - amazing stuff.
if i heard this without knowing it was him i would assume that stevie was playing this himself
🙏
I got hold of El Macambo around 91’. Only God knows how many times I’ve listened to it. This is the closest anyone has gotten (imo) to capturing SRV. While his mixture of technical abilities and aggressiveness is practically unattainable, you sir have really done justice to his memory. TY
🙏
