As an amateur guitarist myself, I would say that it deepens our appreciation for it. But the beautiful thing is that all people can appreciate this song. Music is boundless.
This fucking rules! Covered in Rain is so criminally underrated. John's early stuff is really magical and got me through a really tough time in my life way back in the summer of 2002.

Any Given Thursday. What an amazing show, and what a great showcase of skill from John Mayer. And this song, even though there's some heartbreak attached to it for me, is easily the most memorable one on the set list. You do Covered in Rain justice, my friend.
That is the album where i first understood how good of a musician he is and this song in particular.

In all the years I’ve listened to this song, there has been many great attempts and well worked out covers of people putting effort into playing this song, but this will be the closest I think we will ever see to do this song justice.
