A fun note on the warlock summon. Once in Vanilla, our guild was gathering outside a raid. One guy forgot something and asked for a mage portal to IF. No one was paying very much attention to what was going on, but when the portal appeared, everyone jumped to help with what we thought was a warlock portal, and 90% of the raid ended up in IF. Lol
When my guild first entered Ulduar and we reached Mimiron, my friend and I noticed the GIANT red button on the wall. As our guild leader was explaining the battle plan, my friend and I were sitting there trying not to press the big red button on the wall. I forgot who actually gave in first, but one of us pressed it. The amount of panic we induced in our raid was amazing. Since then, our leader has not allowed us near interactable stuff in raids.
I'm sad about number 1. I'm not an asshole in the game. I help random low level people with their quest, always say some nice things on chat and not make people fell bad in the game. Yet.... I still play with no guild even after I tried requesting guild search. I'm just 1 of the unlucky ones I guess.
I had a TON of fun making this video over the past couple days! However, like with all my Top 10's, I know I might've missed something while making the list. So, with that said, if you can think of a way to suck at WoW that I might've overlooked, feel free to leave a comment and shoot me your thoughts. i remember when blitz first realesed the 90 lvl boost all new players boosted classes they didnt know how to play it was so headache indusing we couldnt even complete a single raid boss it made me quit WOW for a month
Actually I don't use the characters that I boosted, what I do is I take them to the nearest dungeon or raid that drop mounts and I park them at the entrance after I am done so I don't have to send my main there everyday. Its a very effective way of farming mounts.
Marnis N3CR050LD13R if i attack somebody and they /lol at me it just fortifies my resolve in killing them, so counter productive to do that when getting ganked, at least by a player who's going to maybe kill you or randomly decide just as you're about to die to show mercy, showing mercy is alot of fun ona pvp server. give em a /comfort and a /luck and run away when they're at like 5k/300k health xD
Meh I just generally /sigh or /emote (something to show I don't really care and attempt to tell him to not do it again) when I get ganked by lvl 100s in spears/Nagrand.
Dinocrap1101 i've done it so many times in WoW and now SW:TOR they just continue to come at you until you're dead. They will never stop chasing you until they know they've got you cornered and structed down.
Number 6 is not really viable for pve, you can be just as effective in raids clicking as you can keybinding. I completely agree for a pvp aspect if you want to do high end arenas or rbgs, but endgame raiding, lol no. I've done mythic level raiding as fury warrior, ret pally and WW monk and OUT DPS' d keybinders as a clicker. Knowing your class inside and out is far more important than keybinding.
Hey man, if you're able to pull it off than by all means! Honestly, as you can see from the video, for those clips I actually forced myself to click my spells rather than using my hotkeys. On the Gruul fight, despite my best efforts, I didn't even notice that big ol' floor slam because I was too focused on looking at my spells rather than what was on the floor. It got me killed and I sat through what felt like 80% of his health pool before the group finally downed him. More power to ya if your eyes can multitask and pull that sort of stuff off. :)
I tried the hotkeys/keybinding and honestly, I ended up alot worse, esspecially with my melee oriented classes. I love my DKs, Warriors and Paladins, not to mention how wildly active and mobile rogues and monks are. I would say back in BC Vanilla maybe keybinds and hotkeys and macros eould have been important, but seeing as how streamlined and honestly simple classes have become where you can effectively play some classes, like ret paladins with as few as 5 spells and still output sweet dps I don't feel like they are needed unless stated before in pvp. Now there is a place its required and I will agree whole heartedly. Anyways amazing top ten, as always! :D
Derek Tranker Yeah, pretty much. A few of my friends don't keybind their spells and I'm not trying to call people out with this video in a derogatory sort of manner. I had fun ganking people for my 'If you gank you suck' segment and also catching myself fighting in the middle when rewatching my BG footage. Really this video is just a jab at certain players, poking some fun at them, even though a lot of these things I do myself. Glad you enjoyed the video though, dude. :)
You're not convincing anyone with that. Clicking spells is NEVER good... it's not ergonomic. You should keep all the information you need for a fight in a way that exercises your sight the least, when you click a spell you have to move the mouse hit the right spell and put the mouse back into the center again (unless you're a keyboard turner...... hm). Even by a technical factor clicking a spell is a slower input rather than pressing a hotkey. If you say you can play like that you're basically adapting to an environment you created. It's not optimal. If you weren't so reluctant to spend some time building a custom UI, making some keybinds and doing some test-drives you are most likely going to get better. This isn't a general opinion, this is science. Also you can be very good with your 5 key + 1,2 cd rotation as a clicker, but do you press those defensives on the right time? Interrupt? Other utility spells?
Keybinding is important, but like most things, if you're not used to it, it won't help at all. so sticking with clicking and being good enough, or learning to keybind and getting used to it, both are fine.
I love when the people just stand next to that lock portal...after being the one who yelled/bitched the loudest for a summon. "I need a summon..SUMMON ME..come-on ..wtf summon me already.." They get there..and just stand to the side "yeah can we get this going..lets go let's pull come-on pull the boss already.. pull it wtf omg" ;D
Nah, it's actually the other way around. My regular voice is the DK-sounding one, but I pinch my throat to make myself sound like a lonely man in his bedroom surrounded by Cook Out bags and plastic tea cups for these sorts of videos.
I have NO CLUE what I'm doing in WoW and I worry that I'm snagging all the good loot by rolling greed and need when it's related to my stuff even though I feel like I'm not doing enough damage to deserve the items.
TheGmodkilla If you are in a dungeon and an item drops, then first see if the item has the stats you need: Agility -Hunter -Brewmaster/WindwalkerMonk -Shaman enhancement -Feral Druid -Rogue -Demon Hunter Intellect: -Mage -Warlock -Shaman (except enhancement) - Priest - Holy paladin strength: -Death Knight -Paladin (except holy) -Tank druid -warrior Base your needs on the stats, if you did enough to contribute to the group, no-one would care most of the time. especially if all the other members wear heirlooms.
No.9 so relatable, one time it took me 1 whole hour to turn in a quest because of 5 lv110 horde player literally camped at the quest site for hours hunting noobies, they need to get a life
I played from Dec 2004 until Legion as a clicker. I didn't know what keybinding was until seeing some videos the spring before Legion released. I made a fresh warrior and retaught myself to play after all those years. What a difference!
I was once called out for being a "sucky Huntard" during Imperator Mar'gok. I simply pointed out to the guy that we were wiping because people still don't know how to not trigger Destructive Resonance. And then, I proceeded to see the chat input that he, himself, had triggered a Resonance. He died due to it, but he still said I shouldn't have gotten anything off that boss because I sucked.
I Love the char boost in wow. I had a lvl 90 druid, and i had a wod char boost and baaaaam i had 2. I played them to lvl 100 and then i bought legion and baaaaam i have 3 druids lvl 100 xd. I reallly like the boosts^^ great Video^^
Thanks! My action on PvP has improve now. I only fight on middle and the roads, and got ALOT of honor points by doing this method. Most of my teammates even agree with this idea and follow the same method as i do, its just the best way to go on WoW, especially riding a darkmoon mount in Warsong Glutch. This game gets better when learning many peoples method. So i thank you Nixxiom for helping me getting better at PvP. (Although I don't care about Keyboard turning.)

What are good places to go to read about a certain class? All I've been doing has been reading is what comes up on the new patches and such. Thought I was an average player until I watched this. Would love to know how to maximize my playing skill.
Icy-veins is probably the best. As for for if you are doing well in class you can only compare yourself with other players playing the same class, through dps and how much damage you are taking in an encounter. Personally I didn't use guides (and barely do now) for maxing dps until my guild had an issue with shannox and ask for everyone to look at guides to maximise our builds. Even then it was the same build as I had except I think one enchant.
The 'don't stand in the fire' is something that plagues my life. I'm a destro lock and we have no mobility. So I often find myself either standing in the fire while I wait for a spell to cast or i'm running like crazy while doing shit DPS because I'm trying to avoid the fire. It wasn't too bad in Legion since we had Dimensional Rift, but now in BFA, i'm back to being stuck in one spot. Thankfully, most people are understanding if I explain the lack of mobility destro locks are, so my DPS will drop if I need to move, but I always feel bad and feel like I'm doing terribly. But maybe I am and there's a way to be totally mobile as a destro lock but as far as I know, we're rooted to the spot if we want to do any kind of DPS.
Clicking is another playstyle that is objectively worse. If you're a clicker you can't use mouseover macros so for example you're not gonna be very effective at combat ressing and you can't move around and use abilities effectively. doesen''t matter how good you are at clicking, if you click you will be objectively worse than someone on the same skill level as you that uses keybinds. I don't care what you do when you're out questing, but when you're in PVP or a raid you will be pulling down the rest of the group by being a clicker.
I'm not saying people who click their abilities suck or anything... just that they're not the first people on my invite list for the weekly raid group...
Well, there are places where clicking is better, IMO. Some things I just refuse to bind, ever. For example, rings, drums, lust etc. Seriously, stop binding those and accidentally hitting them 30 seconds before a fight! Especially bad in places where it's needed but can't be reset. Other skills that have long cd but aren't for emergency usage are also very clickable, the pro of avoid accidentally wasting something you won't get back quickly outweighs the slight delay of clicking (note I said not emergency buttons, them get-out-of-jail-free buttons does need keybinding) That said, I don't click other things much, but I also rarely mess with the binding settings page nowadays. It was necessary when I actually used skills from 2+ tool bar on a regular basis, but nowadays, as a MM hunter main, I'm down to 4 frequently pressed buttons and not enough others to fill 1 bar (there are a bit more infrequent long cooldowns etc, ofc, still not much) So while clicking is still meh, binding settings(as shown in video) is dying as well.... Even Macros are dying off, at least as a MM hunter, I only have 3 left.... Thou this is due to Legion pre-patch, guess I'd get more "toys" once I get to lv 110 so maybe I'll get more buttons.
I dont like to read guides... I like to learn by playing the game, because that is how it is meant to be. You learn by playing the damn game and have fun doing so.
I got to say I have more fun with the game, without going to the guides, than when I get the info from them. It spoils my fun already knowing what I have to do, what mechanic to use, etc.... instead of figuring it out for myself. Must be that extra sense of pride in figuring out something on your own, or whatever. Wow itself has been kind of ruined for me because of the feeling now of having to read and use the guides just to play anymore. After that I haven't been able to capture that sense of true fun, that the game used to have for me. Sad.
I've been a clicker since vanilla, always been a somewhat serious raider as well, it's just a different playstyle, I still top DPS meters, and follow mechanics, I've tried to use keybinds, but since I have been clicking since Vanilla it's basically impossible for me to get used to keybinds. Don't think you suck just because you don't use keybinds, it's a different playstyle is all.
Clicking is proven to be worse than key binding stop trying to justify it. The reason you do 'top dps' is because the game is easy. You would be doing more dps if you keybinded, no argument lol.

Cesar Lara You can do all the clicking you want. But don't you dare say that it is even close to as effective as keybinding. Hell, keybinding is even easier than clicking. All you need to do is practice.
I've beaten plenty of 2200+ arena players/teams clicking. When you do it for so many years you pretty much perfect it to the point where as the difference between binding and clicking is minimal to nonexistent. Your right that key binding is more effective and practical , but a clicker with enough time under their belt could compete on the same level
I use a combo ( keyboard controls and mouse movement ) of it for tanking, it's just all these people saying "lol people that move with keyboard suck" don't look at it from a tank perspective of I used my mouse to move I would have to turn my back to the boss and if that happens it's always gonna be an unmitigated hit which is bad, so yeah I understand that keybinds make a world of difference but using keyboard controls to move etc are still really useful as well, at least for me they are .
larry wright No, they can't. If you're beating 2200+ players while keyboard turning they're either A) screwing around and not giving a shit or B) not actually 2200. It's also interesting to note that being 2200 isn't much of an achievement anymore. People who are stuck at 1600 on AT have no issues getting 2200 on live. Also, anyone can get a little lucky. I consider myself average at best and have beaten several well known gladiators in arena (like landsoul). That however does not make me as good as them, nor does it mean I can consistently compete at their level. Keybinding is just much, MUCH worse then binding in every regard, and there is no defending against it. There isn't a single well known pvper that still clicks, and that should be enough evidence alone.
I'm actually very happy learning as I go- being sure to keep myself open to suggestion and to read information that I need. I'm thankful for people who have helped guide me to learn to be a Priest, and over time I've discovered I'm best with the Discipline skills. Others, unfortunately, I am not as coordinated with and considering I'm the healer of my group, I will die easily with Holy or Shadow. It's not exactly helpful to be the one needing the rez when others need me to be there to rez or heal them first.
The Video is great, but the inconsistency feels super weird. - The Video is labelled "How to suck at WoW", number 10 instantly gives good levelling advice. - Number 9 just states that killing low level characters is the worst - Number 8 applies to 90% of WoWs population in LFR and pretty much nowhere else since people just get kicked out of raids for this BS. - Now number 7 randomly starts being all sarcastic about the advice ("Do nothing that contributes to battleground"), which is what I thought would be the theme of the video. - Number 6 then again goes in a complete different direction and is just plain advice If you are going for these lists, please stay consistent, lest you might confuse people into thinking not helping in Battlegrounds actually is what you want them to do.

I've seen another tip saying to bind movement to ESDF instead, giving you some extra, easily reachable binding keys. It makes a lot of sense, unfortunately my brain is already wired to WASD, and I couldn't get used to it at all. But if you can, go for it.
My husband and I met in an mmo (Regnum). Though I learned the mechanics t play my conjuror decently, when he introduced me to WoW, Aric had to guide me through a plethora of new. He taught me about distance, target selection, chaining spell, kiting, talent tree basics, how to jump, run, sit. Everything. I learned much from his tutelage and flourished . . . within my noobishness. One thing I held out from was, wait, no, two things were proper use of hotkeys and mouse navigation. And I hotkeyed fist. For the better part of a year I was a keyboard turner. He even taught me that phrase. Damn I was slow. Right arrow right arrow right arrow and by that time the rogue behind me had me nearly dead. A YEAR of it. Bless him for his loving patience.
The social community of WoW is dead, as a result of cross server LFR and cross server LFG, there is no point to build community. I try to be one of the most helpful person another player could ask for and each guild I am invited too is so dead and broken that its actually WORTH playing solo

+TheJNGaming Not necessarily... I've known some Canadians who were complete jerks, haha! But at any rate, I've been playing since the beginning and I've raided properly in every expansion. I've had some really cool friends in guilds and so on-- but I agree that the LFG and LFR features have had a big part in ruining the community. In general the game has fostered and catered to a "cba" attitude where people don't have to invest as much to get things easily, so it's come to be perceived 'inefficient' to invest effort in anything that doesn't give you what you want straight away. I think that, for me, this was really cemented during the WoD beta-- because the types of players in the beta had the mindset that the game is inherently flawed, we are out to test it, and effort will be required-- but the adventure of testing and exploring something imperfect and unknown was fun. The community was excellent there, it had really confirmed for me that it wasn't just "rose-tinted nostalgia" that had me miss classic; while it's true that nowadays it's possible to be around good people if you raid properly or if you have a good guild, I think the "cba" attitude is still present in every facet of the game now because of the nature it's come to have.
maruken Sadly I find that's not true... say you go on a raid with your guild which is full of good people with good attitudes... then eventually in most cases you will still need another dps or something, so you'll put up an ad on the LFG feature... and then you'll start getting this train of people who leave after one wipe etc. I've had this experience, and the bad attitude of players ends up permeating even your good experience of guild raids. More often than not, the thing people need to have in order to get into raids now is having the curve, as opposed to a good attitude; and usually that translates to people with a bad attitude seeking out other people with a bad attitude, so long as they have the curve.

I'm a new player and this video is litteraly the most helpful thing ever. It's better to know what not to do in order not to be bad than what to do in order to bw good.
Ease If you were to go jogging, would you put on running shoes? They'll ease the process, and make it easier to run. Sure if you're good at running, you probably don't need them to be successful, but why not wear them? I believe that you can be good without keybinds, but why not do it? It makes gameplay so much more fluid and allows you to actually focus on the fight, rather than aiming the mouse to every spot that it needs to be to do your rotation.
That's fair, I hadn't considered that. I use mainly all the buttons and keys near 1-6. So I have Q,E,R,C, and G binded to abilities. You can also bind things to Shift+G, and so on. Start by keybinding a couple of abilities, and then get used to that. Then transfer all of your most important abilities to keybinds. Take your biggest hitting spell, or basically the big hitter of your class. For my DK, that's obliterate. Then, bind it to R. Use that for a while until it's completely natural. Follow by placing your other spells. I use G for AoE spells, C for ranged attacks, and 1-6 for my main rotation.
Number 3: Yes I got every class at 110. I bought a bunch of 100s. My mains are Warrior and Warlock. I don't know a lot about my other classes but I visit my alts and take some time to learn cause it's never too late to do that. I acquired every class through leveling and purchases because I liked having access to all the classes.
Just wanted to mention, that purchasing one Max Level Toon can prove beneficial when used for the following; - make it a Class you are familiar with playing - used as a gathering Alt for your Main (i.e. materials, recipes, gold, gear) - used to explore areas (without dying at every mob) your Main is just about ready to progress to - used to clear off a ganker sitting on your Main - used to take down a key mob(s) that is holding up your Main from progressing yes, there's better ways to do all of the above (i.e. grouping or Guilding) but if you are more of a solo styled player (and there's many) this can certainly help your Main progress in a quicker but not quite OP fashion.
One thing that used to really piss of people IN vanilla BC was when you were grouped for a dungeon but you had Resurrection Sickness. Especially if you were healer, which was hard to find lol
I've been playing for over ten years. I've quit a few times, and I've switched mains a few times as well. In all that time, my constant method of playing is to not keybind. I turn with the mouse because it is faster, but I still use WASD to move and keys 1 through = for my main abilities and click anything else. It works for me, and I push out sufficient damage to do well. I am currently playing an elemental shaman, and I love it. I couldn't even imagine trying to keybind all of my totems as well as my primary spell rotation.
I used to think about key binds the same way. Then I tried them out and will never go back to the ways of the clicker. I am not going to go into why keybinds are better , but...well...turn to the dark side, I guess. You might like it😁
The one time I'd advise ANYONE to buy from the auction house is when you're switching between the high level expansions starting with Cataclysm. The distance between a WOTLK and a 272 ilvl is HUGE, especially when the blues from Cataclysm are so often CHEAP. Then get to 83 and move onto Pandaland ilvl, etc. Those last levels of an expansion will zoom by in an instant if you do this.
During vanilla I never really raided except a few molten core and zul gurub pugs at the end. And I didn't play bc because of studies. But when I joined back during woltk and cataclysm, I had a lot of time to spare (was working and living in a pretty remote place) and rerolled quite a lot so I kinda became the official theorycrafter for my guildies. I was the healing officer and theory crafter in my 25 man mid-level raiding guild and I basically theorycrafted and coached most roles for the people in my original budies guild (who didn't really have the time to raid that much). And you'd be surprised on how many players, even good mecanically didn't bother reading even one guide.
I use WASD in raids as well as use QE to side step. What do I have on my number hot keys are my speed boosts, interrupts, and battle rez. That way I can move and instantly hit those key ablilites with my left hand, and use my right to click on any attack or ability I have.
#9 That is the whole definition of PvP now days. People are very fast to call anyone who is not into PvP "carebear" yet those same people are scared to hell to attack anyone who is around the same level and so not a guaranteed easy kill.
I don't play anymore, but the auction house below 100 *can* actually be a good idea for faster leveling. If you can gear up with blue gear when you're around 40-50 (and especially a DPS with a purple weapon) it makes you capable of doing dungeons higher than recommended level and fighting higher level mobs/doing higher level quests.

I bought a Pally before at level 90 and I didn't suck with her. I quickly learned the basics of the abilities and sure, it took me a while to grasp the class completely, but I learned the class in a matter of moments.
Shamans are pretty easy. Cast a heal or some lightning shenans, then an instant, then another heal/dps, then an instant, then a heal etc etc etc. Squeeze all totems, shields, shocks and things in between things that have cast time. The cast time thingies are useful but they also give you a little moment to think ahead. Also, always have instant GW, if that's still in the game. Then you can squeeze that in as well, just in case you have to move.
I remember when I first started playing wow I was like 12, not that good at speaking english, also not being able to play on retail since it was way too expensive for my country back then and I was a ginormous noob. I've only learned about the fact that you can actually keybind your abilities after 2 goddamned years of playing wow when I was already playing on WOTLK and that was one of the most glorious moments in my WoW experience, and that's when my journey began...I started playing PvP and actually became good at it on the shitty private servers that I was playing on... Man...I'm really looking forward to play on the classic Blizzard servers so I can finally experience what I've missed as a kid.
I was a warlock main for YEARS, and the "not helping warlock summon" thing is THE WORST!!!!! I mean, I am going back to the day's of each summon costing a soul shard here, people who can't click piss me off. Thanks for putting that on the list.
Back in vanilla, I was still a noob doing quests in Wetlands (lvl 23) and this troll (who I'm pretty sure was level 60) came out of nowhere and almost one shotted me and t-bagged my corpse. I'm still salty about it.

I had a TON of fun making this video over the past couple days! However, like with all my Top 10's, I know I might've missed something while making the list. i remember when blitz first realesed the 90 lvl boost all new players boosted classes they didnt know how to play it was so headache indusing we couldnt even complete a single raid boss it made me quit WOW for a month

Actually I don't use the characters that I boosted, what I do is I take them to the nearest dungeon or raid that drop mounts and I park them at the entrance after I am done so I don't have to send my main there everyday. Its a very effective way of farming mounts.

if i attack somebody and they /lol at me it just fortifies my resolve in killing them, so counter productive to do that when getting ganked, at least by a player who's going to maybe kill you or randomly decide just as you're about to die to show mercy, showing mercy is alot of fun ona pvp server. give em a /comfort and a /luck and run away when they're at like 5k/300k health xD
Meh I just generally /sigh or /emote (something to show I don't really care and attempt to tell him to not do it again) when I get ganked by lvl 100s in spears/Nagrand.
Dinocrap1101 i've done it so many times in WoW and now SW:TOR they just continue to come at you until you're dead. They will never stop chasing you until they know they've got you cornered and structed down.

Number 6 is not really viable for pve, you can be just as effective in raids clicking as you can keybinding. I completely agree for a pvp aspect if you want to do high end arenas or rbgs, but endgame raiding, lol no. I've done mythic level raiding as fury warrior, ret pally and WW monk and OUT DPS' d keybinders as a clicker. Knowing your class inside and out is far more important than keybinding.
Hey man, if you're able to pull it off than by all means! Honestly, as you can see from the video, for those clips I actually forced myself to click my spells rather than using my hotkeys. On the Gruul fight, despite my best efforts, I didn't even notice that big ol' floor slam because I was too focused on looking at my spells rather than what was on the floor. It got me killed and I sat through what felt like 80% of his health pool before the group finally downed him. More power to ya if your eyes can multitask and pull that sort of stuff off. :)
I tried the hotkeys/keybinding and honestly, I ended up alot worse, esspecially with my melee oriented classes. I love my DKs, Warriors and Paladins, not to mention how wildly active and mobile rogues and monks are. I would say back in BC Vanilla maybe keybinds and hotkeys and macros eould have been important, but seeing as how streamlined and honestly simple classes have become where you can effectively play some classes, like ret paladins with as few as 5 spells and still output sweet dps I don't feel like they are needed unless stated before in pvp. Now there is a place its required and I will agree whole heartedly. Anyways amazing top ten, as always! :D

Yeah, pretty much. A few of my friends don't keybind their spells and I'm not trying to call people out with this video in a derogatory sort of manner. I had fun ganking people for my 'If you gank you suck' segment and also catching myself fighting in the middle when rewatching my BG footage. Really this video is just a jab at certain players, poking some fun at them, even though a lot of these things I do myself. Glad you enjoyed the video though, dude. :)
You're not convincing anyone with that. Clicking spells is NEVER good... it's not ergonomic. You should keep all the information you need for a fight in a way that exercises your sight the least, when you click a spell you have to move the mouse hit the right spell and put the mouse back into the center again (unless you're a keyboard turner...... hm). Even by a technical factor clicking a spell is a slower input rather than pressing a hotkey.
If you say you can play like that you're basically adapting to an environment you created. It's not optimal. If you weren't so reluctant to spend some time building a custom UI, making some keybinds and doing some test-drives you are most likely going to get better. This isn't a general opinion, this is science.
Also you can be very good with your 5 key + 1,2 cd rotation as a clicker, but do you press those defensives on the right time? Interrupt? Other utility spells?
Keybinding is important, but like most things, if you're not used to it, it won't help at all.
so sticking with clicking and being good enough, or learning to keybind and getting used to it, both are fine.

Base your needs on the stats, if you did enough to contribute to the group, no-one would care most of the time. especially if all the other members wear heirlooms.

I played from Dec 2004 until Legion as a clicker. I didn't know what keybinding was until seeing some videos the spring before Legion released. I made a fresh warrior and retaught myself to play after all those years. What a difference!
I was once called out for being a "sucky Huntard" during Imperator Mar'gok. I simply pointed out to the guy that we were wiping because people still don't know how to not trigger Destructive Resonance.
And then, I proceeded to see the chat input that he, himself, had triggered a Resonance.
He died due to it, but he still said I shouldn't have gotten anything off that boss because I sucked.

Thanks! My action on PvP has improve now. I only fight on middle and the roads, and got ALOT of honor points by doing this method. Most of my teammates even agree with this idea and follow the same method as i do, its just the best way to go on WoW, especially riding a darkmoon mount in Warsong Glutch. This game gets better when learning many peoples method. So i thank you Nixxiom for helping me getting better at PvP. (Although I don't care about Keyboard turning.)

What are good places to go to read about a certain class? All I've been doing has been reading is what comes up on the new patches and such. Thought I was an average player until I watched this. Would love to know how to maximize my playing skill.

As for for if you are doing well in class you can only compare yourself with other players playing the same class, through dps and how much damage you are taking in an encounter.
Personally I didn't use guides (and barely do now) for maxing dps until my guild had an issue with shannox and ask for everyone to look at guides to maximise our builds. Even then it was the same build as I had except I think one enchant.

The 'don't stand in the fire' is something that plagues my life. I'm a destro lock and we have no mobility. So I often find myself either standing in the fire while I wait for a spell to cast or i'm running like crazy while doing shit DPS because I'm trying to avoid the fire. It wasn't too bad in Legion since we had Dimensional Rift, but now in BFA, i'm back to being stuck in one spot. Thankfully, most people are understanding if I explain the lack of mobility destro locks are, so my DPS will drop if I need to move, but I always feel bad and feel like I'm doing terribly.
But maybe I am and there's a way to be totally mobile as a destro lock but as far as I know, we're rooted to the spot if we want to do any kind of DPS.

It happen...keybinding is just another play style...get over it.
Clicking is another playstyle that is objectively worse. If you're a clicker you can't use mouseover macros so for example you're not gonna be very effective at combat ressing and you can't move around and use abilities effectively. doesen''t matter how good you are at clicking, if you click you will be objectively worse than someone on the same skill level as you that uses keybinds. I don't care what you do when you're out questing, but when you're in PVP or a raid you will be pulling down the rest of the group by being a clicker.
I'm not saying people who click their abilities suck or anything... just that they're not the first people on my invite list for the weekly raid group...
Well, there are places where clicking is better, IMO. Some things I just refuse to bind, ever. For example, rings, drums, lust etc. Seriously, stop binding those and accidentally hitting them 30 seconds before a fight! Especially bad in places where it's needed but can't be reset. Other skills that have long cd but aren't for emergency usage are also very clickable, the pro of avoid accidentally wasting something you won't get back quickly outweighs the slight delay of clicking (note I said not emergency buttons, them get-out-of-jail-free buttons does need keybinding)
That said, I don't click other things much, but I also rarely mess with the binding settings page nowadays. It was necessary when I actually used skills from 2+ tool bar on a regular basis, but nowadays, as a MM hunter main, I'm down to 4 frequently pressed buttons and not enough others to fill 1 bar (there are a bit more infrequent long cooldowns etc, ofc, still not much)
So while clicking is still meh, binding settings(as shown in video) is dying as well.... Even Macros are dying off, at least as a MM hunter, I only have 3 left....
Thou this is due to Legion pre-patch, guess I'd get more "toys" once I get to lv 110 so maybe I'll get more buttons.

I dont like to read guides... I like to learn by playing the game, because that is how it is meant to be. You learn by playing the damn game and have fun doing so.
I got to say I have more fun with the game, without going to the guides, than when I get the info from them. It spoils my fun already knowing what I have to do, what mechanic to use, etc.... instead of figuring it out for myself. Must be that extra sense of pride in figuring out something on your own, or whatever. Wow itself has been kind of ruined for me because of the feeling now of having to read and use the guides just to play anymore.
After that I haven't been able to capture that sense of true fun, that the game used to have for me. Sad.

I've been a clicker since vanilla, always been a somewhat serious raider as well, it's just a different playstyle, I still top DPS meters, and follow mechanics, I've tried to use keybinds, but since I have been clicking since Vanilla it's basically impossible for me to get used to keybinds. Don't think you suck just because you don't use keybinds, it's a different playstyle is all.
Clicking is proven to be worse than key binding stop trying to justify it.
The reason you do 'top dps' is because the game is easy.

I've beaten plenty of 2200+ arena players/teams clicking. When you do it for so many years you pretty much perfect it to the point where as the difference between binding and clicking is minimal to nonexistent. Your right that key binding is more effective and practical , but a clicker with enough time under their belt could compete on the same level
I use a combo ( keyboard controls and mouse movement ) of it for tanking, it's just all these people saying "lol people that move with keyboard suck" don't look at it from a tank perspective of I used my mouse to move I would have to turn my back to the boss and if that happens it's always gonna be an unmitigated hit which is bad, so yeah I understand that keybinds make a world of difference but using keyboard controls to move etc are still really useful as well, at least for me they are .
larry wright No, they can't. If you're beating 2200+ players while keyboard turning they're either A) screwing around and not giving a shit or B) not actually 2200. It's also interesting to note that being 2200 isn't much of an achievement anymore. People who are stuck at 1600 on AT have no issues getting 2200 on live.
Also, anyone can get a little lucky. I consider myself average at best and have beaten several well known gladiators in arena (like landsoul). That however does not make me as good as them, nor does it mean I can consistently compete at their level.
Keybinding is just much, MUCH worse then binding in every regard, and there is no defending against it. There isn't a single well known pvper that still clicks, and that should be enough evidence alone.
The tank that blames the healer for the wipe when he himself just pulled two other groups of mobs while we were already in the middle of one.
I'm actually very happy learning as I go- being sure to keep myself open to suggestion and to read information that I need. I'm thankful for people who have helped guide me to learn to be a Priest, and over time I've discovered I'm best with the Discipline skills. Others, unfortunately, I am not as coordinated with and considering I'm the healer of my group, I will die easily with Holy or Shadow. It's not exactly helpful to be the one needing the rez when others need me to be there to rez or heal them first.

The Video is great, but the inconsistency feels super weird.
- The Video is labelled "How to suck at WoW", number 10 instantly gives good levelling advice.
- Number 9 just states that killing low level characters is the worst
- Number 8 applies to 90% of WoWs population in LFR and pretty much nowhere else since people just get kicked out of raids for this BS.
- Now number 7 randomly starts being all sarcastic about the advice ("Do nothing that contributes to battleground"), which is what I thought would be the theme of the video.
- Number 6 then again goes in a complete different direction and is just plain advice
If you are going for these lists, please stay consistent, lest you might confuse people into thinking not helping in Battlegrounds actually is what you want them to do.

I've seen another tip saying to bind movement to ESDF instead, giving you some extra, easily reachable binding keys. It makes a lot of sense, unfortunately my brain is already wired to WASD, and I couldn't get used to it at all.

My husband and I met in an mmo (Regnum). Though I learned the mechanics t play my conjuror decently, when he introduced me to WoW, Aric had to guide me through a plethora of new. He taught me about distance, target selection, chaining spell, kiting, talent tree basics, how to jump, run, sit. Everything. I learned much from his tutelage and flourished . . . within my noobishness. One thing I held out from was, wait, no, two things were proper use of hotkeys and mouse navigation. And I hotkeyed fist. For the better part of a year I was a keyboard turner. He even taught me that phrase. Damn I was slow. Right arrow right arrow right arrow and by that time the rogue behind me had me nearly dead. A YEAR of it. Bless him for his loving patience.
The social community of WoW is dead, as a result of cross server LFR and cross server LFG, there is no point to build community.
I try to be one of the most helpful person another player could ask for and each guild I am invited too is so dead and broken that its actually WORTH playing solo

I've had some really cool friends in guilds and so on-- but I agree that the LFG and LFR features have had a big part in ruining the community. In general the game has fostered and catered to a "cba" attitude where people don't have to invest as much to get things easily, so it's come to be perceived 'inefficient' to invest effort in anything that doesn't give you what you want straight away.
I think that, for me, this was really cemented during the WoD beta-- because the types of players in the beta had the mindset that the game is inherently flawed, we are out to test it, and effort will be required-- but the adventure of testing and exploring something imperfect and unknown was fun. The community was excellent there, it had really confirmed for me that it wasn't just "rose-tinted nostalgia" that had me miss classic; while it's true that nowadays it's possible to be around good people if you raid properly or if you have a good guild, I think the "cba" attitude is still present in every facet of the game now because of the nature it's come to have.
maruken Sadly I find that's not true... say you go on a raid with your guild which is full of good people with good attitudes... then eventually in most cases you will still need another dps or something, so you'll put up an ad on the LFG feature... and then you'll start getting this train of people who leave after one wipe etc. I've had this experience, and the bad attitude of players ends up permeating even your good experience of guild raids. More often than not, the thing people need to have in order to get into raids now is having the curve, as opposed to a good attitude; and usually that translates to people with a bad attitude seeking out other people with a bad attitude, so long as they have the curve.

Ease If you were to go jogging, would you put on running shoes? They'll ease the process, and make it easier to run. Sure if you're good at running, you probably don't need them to be successful, but why not wear them? I believe that you can be good without keybinds, but why not do it? It makes gameplay so much more fluid and allows you to actually focus on the fight, rather than aiming the mouse to every spot that it needs to be to do your rotation.

That's fair, I hadn't considered that. I use mainly all the buttons and keys near 1-6. So I have Q,E,R,C, and G binded to abilities. You can also bind things to Shift+G, and so on. Start by keybinding a couple of abilities, and then get used to that. Then transfer all of your most important abilities to keybinds. Take your biggest hitting spell, or basically the big hitter of your class. For my DK, that's obliterate. Then, bind it to R. Use that for a while until it's completely natural. Follow by placing your other spells. I use G for AoE spells, C for ranged attacks, and 1-6 for my main rotation.
Okay, I main a holy priest and I've had my big heal bound to R so I guess that's a good start.
Yeah, that's perfect. Q can be used for healing cd's. Just find what's natural for you!

Number 3: Yes I got every class at 110. I bought a bunch of 100s. My mains are Warrior and Warlock. I don't know a lot about my other classes but I visit my alts and take some time to learn cause it's never too late to do that. I acquired every class through leveling and purchases because I liked having access to all the classes.
Just wanted to mention, that purchasing one Max Level Toon can prove beneficial when used for the following;
- make it a Class you are familiar with playing
- used as a gathering Alt for your Main (i.e. materials, recipes, gold, gear)
- used to explore areas (without dying at every mob) your Main is just about ready to progress to
- used to clear off a ganker sitting on your Main
- used to take down a key mob(s) that is holding up your Main from progressing
yes, there's better ways to do all of the above (i.e. grouping or Guilding) but if you are more of a solo styled player (and there's many) this can certainly help your Main progress in a quicker but not quite OP fashion.
The worst type is the player who has out leveled the zone by one ganking players that just started so they can get honor.

One thing that used to really piss of people IN vanilla BC was when you were grouped for a dungeon but you had Resurrection Sickness. Especially if you were healer, which was hard to find lol

I've been playing for over ten years. I've quit a few times, and I've switched mains a few times as well. In all that time, my constant method of playing is to not keybind. I turn with the mouse because it is faster, but I still use WASD to move and keys 1 through = for my main abilities and click anything else. It works for me, and I push out sufficient damage to do well. I am currently playing an elemental shaman, and I love it. I couldn't even imagine trying to keybind all of my totems as well as my primary spell rotation.
I used to think about key binds the same way. Then I tried them out and will never go back to the ways of the clicker. I am not going to go into why keybinds are better , but...well...turn to the dark side, I guess. You might like it😁
The one time I'd advise ANYONE to buy from the auction house is when you're switching between the high level expansions starting with Cataclysm. The distance between a WOTLK and a 272 ilvl is HUGE, especially when the blues from Cataclysm are so often CHEAP. Then get to 83 and move onto Pandaland ilvl, etc. Those last levels of an expansion will zoom by in an instant if you do this.

During vanilla I never really raided except a few molten core and zul gurub pugs at the end. And I didn't play bc because of studies.
But when I joined back during woltk and cataclysm, I had a lot of time to spare (was working and living in a pretty remote place) and rerolled quite a lot so I kinda became the official theorycrafter for my guildies. I was the healing officer and theory crafter in my 25 man mid-level raiding guild and I basically theorycrafted and coached most roles for the people in my original budies guild (who didn't really have the time to raid that much). And you'd be surprised on how many players, even good mecanically didn't bother reading even one guide.
I use WASD in raids as well as use QE to side step. What do I have on my number hot keys are my speed boosts, interrupts, and battle rez. That way I can move and instantly hit those key ablilites with my left hand, and use my right to click on any attack or ability I have.

That is the whole definition of PvP now days. People are very fast to call anyone who is not into PvP "carebear" yet those same people are scared to hell to attack anyone who is around the same level and so not a guaranteed easy kill.
I don't play anymore, but the auction house below 100 *can* actually be a good idea for faster leveling. If you can gear up with blue gear when you're around 40-50 (and especially a DPS with a purple weapon) it makes you capable of doing dungeons higher than recommended level and fighting higher level mobs/doing higher level quests.
I click all time. Keybinder or not all that matters is you know what you're doing :D. Great video Nix.

I bought a Pally before at level 90 and I didn't suck with her. I quickly learned the basics of the abilities and sure, it took me a while to grasp the class completely, but I learned the class in a matter of moments.
Shamans are pretty easy. Cast a heal or some lightning shenans, then an instant, then another heal/dps, then an instant, then a heal etc etc etc. Squeeze all totems, shields, shocks and things in between things that have cast time. The cast time thingies are useful but they also give you a little moment to think ahead. Also, always have instant GW, if that's still in the game. Then you can squeeze that in as well, just in case you have to move.
I remember when I first started playing wow I was like 12, not that good at speaking english, also not being able to play on retail since it was way too expensive for my country back then and I was a ginormous noob.
I've only learned about the fact that you can actually keybind your abilities after 2 goddamned years of playing wow when I was already playing on WOTLK and that was one of the most glorious moments in my WoW experience, and that's when my journey began...I started playing PvP and actually became good at it on the shitty private servers that I was playing on...
Man...I'm really looking forward to play on the classic Blizzard servers so I can finally experience what I've missed as a kid.
I was a warlock main for YEARS, and the "not helping warlock summon" thing is THE WORST!!!!! I mean, I am going back to the day's of each summon costing a soul shard here, people who can't click piss me off. Thanks for putting that on the list.
Back in vanilla, I was still a noob doing quests in Wetlands (lvl 23) and this troll (who I'm pretty sure was level 60) came out of nowhere and almost one shotted me and t-bagged my corpse. I'm still salty about it.
