Just finished mine as my first Gunpla and once everything is done, panel lining, and decals (it took me around 10 hours just to do all those), it looks so great. It's so satisfying.
As for the hand articulation they do move completely, so you can get a realistic grip on weapons. At the beginning i was afraid of breaking them but then i saw a few reviews of people that had the hands moving completely, and so i forced very slowly and carefully some articulations until they all moved completely. It can be done.
The Nu Gundam (and Sazabi) Ver. Ka. are _MGEX_ before MGEX became a thing.

I like how this version is a sort of quasi unicorn with the psycho frame. Been debating on grabbing this since I have the rg but I think I'm sold on it.
The fingers can actually grip tight, the ball joints have a hinge as well, that allows the fingers to curl at the Palm as well. It did however take some manipulation to loosen them enough on my rx78-2 ver. 3, but he now grips his beamsaber beutifully 😁
In the frame portion of the video the white flap on the back is what you untuck to extent the psycho frame portion and generally increase the height of the suit. The 3.0 hands are also fairly great if you do take the time to unlock the joints properly. It's why your version had trouble with wrapping its hands around the beams.
Also it just dawned on me that I say "Generally Speaking" a lot haha

As someone who hasn't built this kit, I can say 1 thing on it's defense. You can technically omit the psycho frame stickers since those are non cannon (Nu, Sazabi and Sinanju only have psycho frame cockpits, the Unicorn was the first to have a full body one, that's the whole point of the Unicorn to begin with), or have them on it's your choice. It always is to be fair... Gunpla is freedom right?

At least the RG kinda made up for it.
When i built mine I had to take a piece of runner and thread it through all the funnels to get them to hold together. Put it at an angle and take the inner connector pieces out then cut out a little channel to get it to work but it works fantastic. Trust me and do this its worth it it doesn't damage anything you can see, and your funnels won't fall apart every time you look at it funny.

i love how detailed the Nu Gundam Ver Ka is, although its a love and hate relationship when i was building it, i love the engineering used on it but at the same time, it was my very first Ver Ka build so the learning curve was a bit steep.
Have you ever tried to tighten the connections on the fin funnels to get them to stay together better? If that can be accomplished then maybe it wouldn’t be such a problem.
I haven't yet but the connections are pretty small. I don't think I'll go back to mess with them at this point though, just gonna leave them on the stand.
Ive put magnets inside mine bc i saw someone did it in gunpla reddit.
It makes the funnels slightly heavier which isnt a big deal bc it has a base anyway, but it holds way better

I used a piece of runner and thread it through all the funnels. Then take out the inner connector pieces and cut a little channel for the runner piece. This allows you to put them in "flight" mode if you change your mind later on because it doesn't damage anything you can see.
Og mg nu funnels connection with each other was much simpler and did a pretty good job, not perfect but better than on ver ka

Haha I appreciate the comparison but nope, totally different dude. Although I would say check out of review of the HG Freedom Gundam. It's just for fun but got him to do a little bit for it.
You can pull the chest gimmick by unlocking the white flap on his back..
I'm pretty late to the party,but i recently built this kit,and I am relatively new to this hobby.
I absolutely loved the build,not a huge fan of the psycho frame but it is indeed a beautiful kit.
Fin funnels are a nightmare and I hate the way they are attached to the backpack. the stand is unique which limits quite a bit the possibilities of posing.
All in all, it is a great kit for its age,but as you mentioned aswell, the main event which is the fin funnels are the worst part.
Later this year I will get my hands on the RG version of RX93, just to compare the enginnering.
Where do I get the stands that hold the fins and what are they called?
They come with the kit together with the amuro icon shaped base

Not really. Rg is way more solid. However, the asthetic of the Mg is just off the chart
In my humble opinion, the EG Nu's head nails the anime accurate look way better than the ver Ka. It has the sharp glare that for some odd reason the ver Ka doesn't have, the eyes have much more depth to it than the ver Ka even without the use of stickers or panel liners, and the long anime-accurate faceplate doesn't have that odd narrowness to it like the ver Ka has. The ver Ka is an absolute beauty of a kit, maybe the near perfect Nu in terms of overall looks, but I can never gel with the head design of that kit. Also the vulcans aren't color separated on the ver Ka

They can be a bit loose, yes.
At this point Bandai should just reprint the old nu gundam just for cheaper alternative and anime accurate than verka
Should do the same for the Hi Nu. It looks identical to the HG but 1/100 scale alone would be worth the purchase for me.
@@ralfsstuff tbh, they both have far worse and more squashed proportions than their HG counterparts, there’s a reason people like this one more.
