mine too. XD I got it when it first came out. was difficult as hell, and today it sits on my shelf where atleast one piece of it falls off once a week. its lost a few parts over time. because of it I avoided master grade until this year where I bought a XN-00-raiser, which Im glad I did. now ive got a freedom gundam that I just finished yesterday and an aile strike Ver.RM coming in the mail.
As a straight builder I wouldn't say special finishes are hard to build, just make sure your nub removal skills are decent. If you like the finish it's definitely doable.
I'm sure they'll get new ones eventually, at least GP01. Though part of me is wondering if they might make it part of the MGEX line and work extra on gimmicks and features for it, basically making a smaller PG with the two armor options and lots of intricate moving thrusters and vernier mechanics.
All these Ver. Ka's. Building and painting a Hi Nu w/ HWS rigjt now, really just affirming that Ver. Ka's are awesome kits with some incredible/baffling engineering decisions.
Honestly for the victory ver ka kits. They should’ve just given you the option to build the inner frame that allows you do the transformation or to build a frame that excludes the transformation
@@terreausore2435 not necissarily. only a few hinges make it work. without those bits, theres no transformation and the rest is the same. it would be a matter of maybe 6 - 10 extra parts. maybe 1 extra sheet at most.
TL;DR ~~ I messed up an amazing kit because I was an amateur. My first MG was the Shin Musha Gundam. It's such an awesome and beautiful kit which is why I got it but honestly, I wish I didn't for reasons completely unmentioned. Because I didn't know any better as a beginner, I didn't do any nub removal, I did the decals sloppy, and the brown panel liner I used turned red for some reason. *I made it ugly* is my point. I think it's important to adress how a beginner might go about building something in case they get a great kit just to do it a disservice.
I glare at my HG Astaroth Origin all the time because it was my first kit. I want to remove those nubs, but also want it to stay exactly as I first built it.
@@my5head I know what u mean. I keep my first build as it was when I first built it too. I did it for both the nostalgia, and to compare between my first build and my current one.
Ah yes the Gouf Custom. Be prepared to remove over a hundred nubs on just the piping bits alone, and since they're rounded, you have to be extra careful not to shave off too much lest the surface becomes flat. It's perfect for anyone who enjoys removing nubs! :D
That was my second MG and it is a troublesome kit. However the Gatling shield+sword and shotgun attachment is pretty cool. It’s just way too cumbersome and heavy for the arm to hold up. The Gouf itself is pretty sturdy and poseable.
Got the old MG Wing Zero Custom from a friend and holy crap it was bad. The posable fingers made it entirely pointless to try and make it hold the buster rifle as it simply refused to hang on to it.
Yep, you have to modify the hand and gun by drilling a small hole in each and inserting a thin metal rod into the gun's handle, same with the Wing EW. imgur.com/Nc9UOJp imgur.com/Wau7RsW imgur.com/eX6D3m8
idk why they still restock the old wing zero custom now that the ver ka is out. Also the ver ka wing randomly gets restocked when the tv version is better.
The old Char Zaku II was a nightmare when building the piping (was my First MG and Gunpla). But I will say it is built like a Brick sh*t house it's still holding up after all these years (even after being lose in a box under something heavy it's only missing the head piping and one spike). The only thing to get the old Char's Zaku today would be for the 175mm Recoilless Rifle to use with the Zaku II 2.0.
Is the piping worse than the 2.0? Because even on the 2.0 it's still a bitch to get off the runner and onto the plastic core, I spent well over half an hour just trying to do that
@@MansBestFriend_ compared to the old 1.0 the 2.0 is far easier to work with. I didn't have a problem with the piping of the 2.0 (Not having to put a spring over the plastic tube than putting each bead on and if you forgot to hold on at the end when your finished because the spring is making your hand hurt (or cut your finger) the beads will come off). What I did was after each I slipped a bead on I sanded the nub down to make it easier to slide the the next one and the paint helped out to (I painted the Char's Zaku II 2.0 in more Zaku colors).
The MG Unicorn Ver.Ka was my very first Gunpla , and i do not have an awesome memory of it , i quickly learned what a " parts grenade " was and how fragile some pieces were . On the other hand , my second Gunpla ever was the Real Grade Unicorn , and that one is beyond amazing :D
My 1st MG was the Unicorn Banshee, with that massive railgun thing and crab claw. It was a thoroughly enjoyable build, but it does have trouble standing up posed and the base adaptor that came with it is absolutely useless. Is that one of the "problematic" unicorn kits out there? I recently got a unicorn full armor ver ka, but im not seeing any obvious differences in the construction. (Still have to start building it, im one of those guys who likes to go through the instructions beforehand) I did notice a new base adaptor to fit under the gunrack thing at the backpack. If that thing is a stable piece, it will have solved all the issues i had with the Banshee.
@@ironelemental9367how did the unicorn full armor build go? Was it MG as well? My 1st MG is also the banshee and it was fun and frustrating at the same time lmao just finished building it yesterday
@@ryu________ Yeah, that full armor unicorn is a master grade as well. It was pretty predictable with all the gear on its back, that it would have trouble standing up unsupported, but that actionbase adapter that slots inbetween the torso and backpack fits really tight. It secures the model at the perfect spot. Pretty much right in its center of gravity. That makes the big guy on an action base super fun to pose. No need to worry about balancing. I love that kit. Fitting the actionbase adapter in the back of the model was quite fiddly though, but once it snapped into place, it is absolutely not going anywhere. Follow the instructions there very carefully. It's kinda forcing a bracket in 2 spots at once, which also need to be connected together at the same time.
In the early 2000's I picked up the FA:ZZ MG kit after falling in love with its bulk. I had only built a few wing kits and a zaku or two. It was an emotionally trying experience for someone need to kit making. Especially since I didn't understand I needed to build a full ZZ first, and then add the armor.
I recently built the original Nu Gundam MG and actually have an original MG Sazabi in my backlog as well. The original Nu was actually a pretty straightforward build with only the head seam being bad. It really helped me appreciate how much kits have improved. At the same time, it would be nice to see more metal parts in the kits.
Having painted a MG V2 Ver. Ka? It's a strikingly beautiful kit. Proportions, colors, water slide decals, all of it, just the tops. And I totally agree. Put aside the elbow red which takes either a hand of god to handpaint or some good masking skills, and building its modular sections so that the kit doesn't break apart? It's a nightmare. A beautiful, striking, gorgeous, nerve-wracking, hair-yanking nightmare of a kit. I love it. Don't get it.
This seems like a good list! The Victory Gundam Ver. Ka was one of my first Gundam kits back when I first got into the hobby. Doing the waterslide decals took AGES and it is always threatening to fall apart when you pose it. But boy, when you find the pose you want and get it situated, it looks NICE. It also has incredible color separation. Unless you're doing custom colors, I don't think there's any need to paint it. As a dedicated lover of the Sentinel Gundam and all of its ridiculous variants, I love the fact that the Deep Striker does nothing. People in the past would buy resin kits of the Deep Striker for big bucks. Those don't transform or pose. But people still shelled out for them because they were awesome! I think it really helps if you get into building non-Gundam miniatures. You learn to appreciate how a static pose can provide a compelling visual.
I used to just snip and build kits back in HS and I lost interest and was broke until one time during new years many years after when my brother wanted to go draw for a lottery at a gunpla store. I went with him cuz he wanted to increase his chance so I went as the backup and turns out, he got a HG 00 kit while I got a MG Zeta 2.0 for half the price. I decided to keep it and build it and wanted to build it properly cuz it was my first MG and the first kit I built in years. Result, the kit came out good but due to me being lazy on my off time, busy with work and inexperience with building a MG kit, the fking thing took me 2 years to finish lol. It turned out really good and I am still quite fond of it, a solid build even for a transformation kit.
Bro literally my first master grade was a third party Gunpla kit, its not a bootleg it has original design but it still is a difficult kit for my first time....
At first I read that as the Wing Zero ver ka and got tilted because that was an amazing kit, then I realized you're taking about the original Wing ver Ka(now branded as the Wing EW) and gotta agree. That kit is garbage and impossible to pose without reinforcing joints/modifying that stupidly long buster rifle.
@@zKaizer87 Its wings also dont really do much. The RG of the same design has more wing articulation. If you absolutely must have this version of the wing in 1/100 I'd get the hi res.
We need 0083 MS 2.0 Master Grade, Bandai! Anyway, IMO I want to add some kit I don't recommend for beginners, like: > MG F91. Especially 2.0, because those kits design are quite complicated. > MG Crossbone. Just because its color separation is bad. But its build is quite simple. > Almost all transformable, especially Zeta 2.0. And, that's it!
I'd also give the Crossbones a mention just because while they havent aged as bad as the older kits on this list, they suffer from a lot of structural issues, missing colors and lackluster details for a ver ka. I do like my X3 but it is a flawed kit that could use an update like they did for the F91, which needed an update less than the Crossbone.
Agreed. I love the Crossbone (X1) design, but the kit... it just sucked. it is fiddly, not very poseable, and gimmicky in all the wrong ways. Didn't like building it at all, and I'm not fond of it on display, likely because I can remember the pain of making it. Once painted, too, it's a brick.
@@shadowxpsyeah i was watching a review of it and it cant even hold up the peacock smasher (and can barely hold up the muramasa blaster), the one big super unique weapon the full cloth has, which is a shame because I love how over the top and goofy the design is for a uc mech.
@@jammo7370i tried building mine and ended up having to scrap it, because I tried tightening the joints to make it be able to hold up the peacock smasher, and ended up warping the plastic and breaking it. The x1 FC is my favourite MS, but honestly the MG is a lost cause. Even if the color accuracy is ass, if you want a FC kit just get the hg version, be it uc or bf type. I really hope we will eventually get a RG version, by far the best version of x1 crossbone I ever built. The others feel way too finnicky.
@@starbound100 ty for the heads up on the bf type for the full cloth, USAGS just restocked it and it’ll be in my next order, gonna throw it up on the shelf next to the rg x1
Id also add the Delta PLus to the list. Its not a bad looking kit but the transformation makes the torso super finicky. Youll find yourself pushing in parts when trying to pose it in mecha form since its basically hollow in that mode.
I built the Dom back in 02 as a beginner (after the Zaku II, RX-78, and Alex Master Grades) and can concur that it's still an excellent kit, whereas the others aged horribly. Even at the time I was impressed with its articulation for such a chunky suit and its individually articulated fingers. I salvaged it back in the winter (beginner me had tons of nub marks, a broken upper chest joint, and a shoddily super-glued broken fore arm) as my "first" gunpla after building three Star Trek ships, and it looks excellent on my shelf. Its torso is also spacious enough to accommodate LEDs if you want to grab a pin vise and light the mono-eye, beam cannon, and cockpit.
My first MG was the Deathscythe EW version. It's a cool design and I do love it... But I cannot recommend it to a beginner solely due to the cheek vents.
MG Wing Zero Custom (Endless Waltz) for me. The damn thing can't even hold its own weapons properly. I built this as my 3rd kit, and I just had disappointment all over my face after I finished building it and couldn't just make it do the iconic twin buster rifle pose.
My first MG was a GP01 but i was already a model builder since ages before i jumped into gunpla territory Yes it's a old kit that has its limits but it's also the only MG of this amazing looking MS
Funny thing, Unicorn Full Armor ver ka is my 1st MG, building it wasn't tough, it was the massive decals that can be tough, stuck some crooked, some upside down but all in all it was fun and a good experience, no regret. Banshee Ver ka is the next one am gonna build 😂
As all RGs since the Unicorn are pretty much excitement embodied, I would like to hear your thoughts on Best/ Worst Early RG recommendations sir! And maybe a couple of how to fix titbit too.
My first MG was back in 2021, I’ve only built 2 other Gunpla before hand (HG burning Gundam and Entry grade RX-78-2), found an F91 MG Gundam at a store and had to get it, not knowing it was from 2006 and hadn’t been opened in about 15 years 😅 great kit tho, surprisingly I was able to put it together in 2 days!
These all seem pretty fair/straightforward to me! Mostly things that have just not aged well, have much superior versions available, etc. and I think that’s all super valid. I think my first MG was the RX-79 Ground Type and I maintain that it’s held up incredibly well for a 21 year old kit.
I really appreciate that you prefaced with basically saying there's no such thing as a bad kit - it depends on how much work you are willing to put in and what your expectations are. But. I would have included the MG Guntank because the treads are a nightmare to assemble and I thank Bandai every night before bed that they included spare links for the treads.
Hahah the slideshow of kits to avoid as the 'first 20' were literally my entire experience with the line. Zaku, GP01FB, Zeta, Gundam Mark II, FA:ZZ. Oh my.
It seems like I avoided the avoidable. Just by its release date and the cover art you know when a MG will probably disappoint you. Now I am pannel lining my Buster Gundam, that's a MG I'd recommend to a begginer in MGs that is super cool to pose and to be looking at. Or any of the GMs (the Sniper II, Sniper Custom, Command...)
I kinda wanted the standard Ver. Ka Unicorn just so I could kitbash to get a black and red Banshee or like a dark Unicorn since the Banshee Ver. Ka has the parts to make the Unicorn.
Personally i'd also add the MG RX-78-2 3.0. Beautiful looking kit, but it's very complex and quite hard to assemble (especially those elbows). It's also very fragile.
cockpit hatch falls off easily, corefighter into suit doesn't work well, foot falls of easily, shield falls off really easily, loose shoulder plates. The ver 2.0 is a much better kit, as long as you cement the fin in.
@@muisverriet plus they make you put all those foil stickers in the 3.0 instructions that end up peeling anyways, so you need to buy the water decals before hand. Hand plates fall off a lot. The 2.0 comes with more accessories, less fragile hands, a smooth core fighter attachment, and is as close to the anime as you can get. Once i cemented the loose v fin, it became my go to rx 78 2
My journey into Gunpla was to build every grade and variant of Unicorn. In the order I build HG Unicorn, HGUC Blue Unicorn, Then three RG Unicorns (Perfect) (Full armor) (Normal Unicorn), MG Unicorn with the maintenance cage, PG Unicorn and lastly the Mega Unicorn It was fun and taught me so much about Gunpla I suggest finding your favorite and building smallest to biggest
I built The RX-0 FA ver ka as my First MG and was a nightmare.... But looks sick and I really think was fun but I would love yo do it some time later, with more skill.
1.0 Alex was my first MG. They hold up. Only issue I've had with mine was a snapped arm. Which is slightly understandable. I've had it for close to 20 years.
hahaha one of the first kits I first got was the FA Unicorn, it wasn't too bad. I did expect it to be a brick though and I was very burnt out the Unicorn putting decals on everything, dry transfers especially. I'm also surprised transforming kits haven't made the list, one of my first MG's was the zeta plus c1 and its wait section was horrible. Could barely stand (*shudder*).
Same! My first MG is Zeta Gundam 2.0 I only transformed it once hahah. Got it way back 2009 and its part of the 30th anniversary clear parts campaign. I still have the kit in good condition with the box and everything 😊
I've built numerous HG and RG kits, I build my very fist MG last night, the RMS-106 Hi-Zack. It was a mildly challenging kit but wasn't horrible, it was an upscaled HG to me except for the pipes
You're right about the V2 Verka, I'm building one right now, giving me lots of headache, one part was broken, a few are so hard to fit in , and the instruction doesn't illustrate things very clear, I'm very new to gunplas building ( have only built a few mg and 1 pg) this one is by far the most frustrating one so far😓😓
Forgot to mention the Gouf Custom's ankles. It's missing hinges for the back ankles & can lean foward to a rediculous degree. I personally like the GM Type C. Even bought 5 of them, good for a troop unit build but just lacks great articulation...but at $25.00 for one, it's a great deal
1:52 I was supposed to get Gouf Custom because it's the cheapest MG I see so far ($26) but thanks for your honest feedback I almost fall into the trap of another loose MS
My first two were the Full Armor Ver Ka and Hi-Nu Ver Ka. Both are beautiful, but with the Full Armor's joint covers and Hi-Nu's decals, they're both tests of patience.
Dude same. Haven't touched the water slides on those since I got them 4 something years ago. I like to think to myself I'd do them though, eventually...
@@golasticus oh it's been about 2 years since finishing the Hi-Nu and the fin funnel waterslides have been flaking off. I want to strip them bare to try again with a new set of waterslides or just save up for spray paint.
My first ever kit was a 1/100 No Grade Astraea type F, and I think it spoiled me, because I later bought a 1/144 High Grade Sword Impulse Gundam and was underwhelmed by the smaller size. Then my Aunt bought me the Master Grade Ver.KA Sinanju.
My first MG was the Tallgeese, I had done five HG's at that point and decided that I could do a MG, that model kit sits on my model kit shelf of shame to remind myself of my hubris...
I've built the MG Amazing Red Warrior, and the MG Heavyarms. Then I realized I didn't enjoy the more complex and longer builds of MGs so now I only build HGs.
My first was the Barbatos and I didn't enjoy it. I found the construction of the inner frame tricky and accidentally broke the shoulder joint as a result. Not to mention the tiny chrome pistons were hard to use as well at least for me.
I'd add the FA-78 and the Psycho Zaku II from Thunderbolt. The FA-78 was my first gunpla ever, and woof, that was a big jump. I keep looking back at it with stuff I could have done better.
As a new person to gunpla (I've done 7 total), I find MG can vary wildly but I love doing them. I have finished in order Deathsythe Hell, Full Armored Unicorn ver.ka, and just finished painting and assembly on Strike Freedom MGEX (need to do panel lines and decals). I have really enjoyed building/painting them but I confuse people when they talk about the anime. They call back to the anime and I go um cool. I build them cuz they look badass not because I like the anime.
Same. I just wanna build a cool looking robot for the shelf. I mostly dont know and dont care if its a weak or overpowered thing in the cartoons. Rule of cool is all that counts on a model for me😀
you forgot to add some good MG 00 kits to your previous vid and for this one in terms of 00 it's somewhat a good choice to avoid the normal MG Exia and wait for a MG Exia 2.0
@@eins2001 price goes into the value of the overall kit though, someone's not just paying for material plastic. That's the make or break thing about it.
@@eins2001 2) shelve space, size intimidation and confusion due to high number of parts 3) bullshit only if you don't play with it but normal gunpla got articulation and all reviewers has a section for it and so it's not far fetch to expect that all gunpla got articulation, i mean even PG and Mega Size have articulations, even the No Grades, the earliest versions and very basic gunpla kits have one.
I actually have just finished building the MG Gouf Custom a week ago and I think this is one of those 'luck of the draws' where you either have one that does or doesn't hold the weapon up. Mine will hold it up quite well up front but to the side and it will start to droop. It's not a very difficult kit to build and is ok for beginners but yeah the joint stability might be disappointing. MG Unicorn is also a weird thing for me. I think it's easy to build and paint, but the finish might be a little disappointing because it's a terrible kit to play around with. My shield is barely clipped in and falls down all the time.
MG Sinanju; It’s a beautiful kit, especially the titanium finish version, but some modeling skills are required; Particularly the waist peg that needs to be sanded down a bit so it doesn’t break when you try to twist the torso for poses.
Just saw this video and was reflecting on how I bought a full armor unicorn Gundam and I opened the box then closed it slowly saying “ I’m not ready “ lol
MG Exia because it has an issue with it wanting to do the splits on its own and MG Crossbone Full Cloth because the armor has a lot of loose parts. I've both those kits twice and it seems to be a very common issue with them.
mg V2 by it self is not worth it but it is with the Assault Buster add-on. It replaces some bad joints and makes the kit pretty solid, it is still on the smaller side tho.
Well, that's funny, the only MG I assembled was the Zeta Gundam Ver. KA. It went pretty well, but now that I think about it, I'm only a beginner to Master Grade kits, I built a lot of HG kits and some warhammer miniatures before then.
How about best rg's for beginners. Like the rg impulse, mk ii, zeta, etc Cries in no ver 2.0 for 0083 kits For the victory ver ka's I feel like if they removed the inner frame the kit would have been more solid.
It pretty much goes by number, newer ones are better, crossbones is pretty tiny so I'd maybe avoid that one for a newer RG builder. Same with the unicorn/banshee
Full disclosure: I have not built the MG Deep Striker, nor do I plan to. That said, I do agree with its inclusion on this list. From everything I’ve seen about it, I’d say it’s the kind of kit a builder (not just a beginner) would like a lot more if they received it as a gift or a contest prize. Yeah, it doesn’t do much, but it’s big and imposing and will make a great centerpiece for your collection. The main issue with it is the price. For that money, you could buy a Perfect Grade or 2-3 Master Grades and get a lot more bang for your buck. Citrus compared it to the PG Zeta: Both are very expensive and involved builds with aging technology that end up as bricks in the end. But the PG Zeta is feature complete with opening hatches, the transformation, and tons of tiny details, whereas the MG Deep Striker is comparatively featureless. Again, they’re both bricks, so while you may not play around with the features of the PG Zeta, you at least get them where you don’t get them at all with the Deep Striker.
Lol literally doing the Gouf custom as my first kit since I was a child, but as an adult this time. Though, I'm only doing it because I like that particular suit and it's from my favorite show, so I'm not doing it for diorama making or the challenge or anything
Great vids of both the best and worst kits for beginners. Always like a point of reference with so many kits available, and have used videos from Zaku's best of year series, been happy each time. Would you consider doing a best kits for intermediate and advanced?
Another reason not to get The Gouf Custom is the ankle joint. It has no rear stableizing joint. It pivots foward too much making it look like a Smooth Criminal. Also they made the Gatling Gun way too heavy. The Gatling also can not purge from the shield like in the OVA. So you can't just use the shield by itself.
One MG kit I wish would happen would be the destroy mode for the unicorn banshee, I really liked the HG one which was my second ever kit and I would love to get a MG mk-II titans kit.
To me it is probably the Zeta 1.0 that I built years ago. The 1.0 RX-78 was fine, joint got loosen pretty quickly my zeta just completely collapsed because of the transformation mechanism.
Clear versions in general, honestly. I've never built a clear version that didn't have much more pain involved in cleanup to avoid really obvious stress marks.
The basic mg unicorn is something that should be here too since its just not fun to handle on top of being a bit of a hand gernade that falls apart and breaks way too easily
I do think the NEW reprints of the old MG Unicorn ver Ka is fine cos if u have studied the runners of the newer unicorn type MGs (Specifically the Phenex and the Banshee), the leg armour runner has been modified (The runner's name coincides with the exact same one as the old MG Unicorn ver Ka), which means the entire metal mold that bandai uses for the leg armour runner have been modified. The first few prints of the OVA/HD ver of the Unicorn included the old MG Unicorn ver Ka's runner too, but NEW reprints of it uses the modified metal mold of the original MG Unicorn ver Ka.
I am building ver ka assault buster MG as my second build. Since MG unicorn went well, I wanted to challenge myself. One thing i dont like is in the manual you dont get the info of the tray/slab numbers and you just rummage through all the trays rather than separate them and build one piece.
Thanks for the list. I kinda interesting in FA Unicorn & Deep Striker after saw their box art but after I researched. The price is scary and you said it is much of a brick or statue that can only standing on the shelf (menacingly). I decided not to buy them.
I dont know about the gouf custom. I built one after only building 3 MGs it was relatively simple and poses well. I think instead of the gouf ya shouldve thrown the full armor thunderbolt gundam in.
I would add in the MG Zeta as well as the Regize (I spelled it wrong I know) kits due to the transformation features and overall stability issues, but I agree with your picks.
Nothing says old MG quite like that baby blue backdrop.
Old Gunpla in general hahaha. Also bad CG box art

its a travesty that bandai hasnt announced anything about 2.0 gp0 mg kits.
They missed an opportunity with the anniversary
I'm sure they'll get new ones eventually, at least GP01. Though part of me is wondering if they might make it part of the MGEX line and work extra on gimmicks and features for it, basically making a smaller PG with the two armor options and lots of intricate moving thrusters and vernier mechanics.

@@fujitafunk Yeah lots of posing issues. Good thing it looks badass just standing there. ^^
Got the old MG Wing Zero Custom from a friend and holy crap it was bad. The posable fingers made it entirely pointless to try and make it hold the buster rifle as it simply refused to hang on to it.
Not to mention the feathers on the wings constantly falling off...
Yep, you have to modify the hand and gun by drilling a small hole in each and inserting a thin metal rod into the gun's handle, same with the Wing EW.

@@masato3981 I eventually used magnets but yeah it's terrible out of the box. Got it to hold the rifle like twice in hours of trying to pose it.
@@xdevantx5870 Magnets is a smart idea, nice. And yeah, it's the sort of oversight you don't normally see from Bandai
idk why they still restock the old wing zero custom now that the ver ka is out.
(Still have to start building it, im one of those guys who likes to go through the instructions beforehand)
I did notice a new base adaptor to fit under the gunrack thing at the backpack.
It's funny to not recommend a kit and then show a good photo of it, lol. "Ignore how good this looks!"
Lol sounds like rg sinanju. Gloriously beautiful grenade.
@@kashandi2 for the rg sinanju i would recommend the PB clear color ver. The gold goes so well with the clear red.
so pro-tip: avoid mostly MG kits from the late 90's to the early 2000's.
Basically 😂
The z'gok holds up well. I also didn't have much of a problem with gouf custom and rx 79. Wouldn't recommend the 0083 kits
Except for the MG Zeta Plus C1. That kit is so awesome
Z’gok was a great time, guncannon was another gem. I love the zeong! There is some treasure to be found from the old days.
Ordered mg lunamaria zaku custom as my first MG. So excited!
Bro literally my first master grade was a third party Gunpla kit, its not a bootleg it has original design but it still is a difficult kit for my first time....
I've been staring daggers at that Wing ver. Ka on the shelf this whole video. I hate that stupid thing.
I built the same kit. Why do you hate it?
At first I read that as the Wing Zero ver ka and got tilted because that was an amazing kit, then I realized you're taking about the original Wing ver Ka(now branded as the Wing EW) and gotta agree. That kit is garbage and impossible to pose without reinforcing joints/modifying that stupidly long buster rifle.
@@zKaizer87 oh I thought he was talking about the newer one 🤣
@@zKaizer87 Its wings also dont really do much. The RG of the same design has more wing articulation. If you absolutely must have this version of the wing in 1/100 I'd get the hi res.
We need 0083 MS 2.0 Master Grade, Bandai!
Anyway, IMO I want to add some kit I don't recommend for beginners, like:
> MG F91. Especially 2.0, because those kits design are quite complicated.
> MG Crossbone. Just because its color separation is bad. But its build is quite simple.
> Almost all transformable, especially Zeta 2.0.
And, that's it!
Mine was Kampfer from 2001 and oh boy that was a pain
The Full Cloth is worse cause the cloak adds a ton of weight as complexity to an already touchy model. Absolute nightmare to move.
Youll find yourself pushing in parts when trying to pose it in mecha form since its basically hollow in that mode.
aww..I'm really looking forward for that kit. thought it would be a nice transformable ms with relatively cheap price
Don't forget that it also requires an action base since it can't stand on it's own because of the transformation.
@@nabilhaziq5181 Look into getting the normal or commander type ReZEL instead, good solid kit that isn't hampered by the transformation.
The Unicorn Full Armor Ver Ka was my first MG haha.
But yeah it was quite the first MG to make.
My first MG was the Deathscythe EW version. It's a cool design and I do love it... But I cannot recommend it to a beginner solely due to the cheek vents.
Built it last night. Fuck those vents.
Built mine last night too, yep hated that too
MG Wing Zero Custom (Endless Waltz) for me. The damn thing can't even hold its own weapons properly. I built this as my 3rd kit, and I just had disappointment all over my face after I finished building it and couldn't just make it do the iconic twin buster rifle pose.
My first MG was the GM 1.0. My second was the GM Kai Space type. Even as a beginner I noticed the considerable difference in quality.
My first MG was a GP01 but i was already a model builder since ages before i jumped into gunpla territory
Yes it's a old kit that has its limits but it's also the only MG of this amazing looking MS
I really like the 00 rg especially QanT
For the early rgs that I have built I love the exia and the zaku 2 but I really HATE the rg aile strike
My husband has plenty of Gouf Customs love the way it looks!
love to see the Geara Zulu in master grade
MG RX-78-2 origin gang
cockpit hatch falls off easily, corefighter into suit doesn't work well, foot falls of easily, shield falls off really easily, loose shoulder plates. The ver 2.0 is a much better kit, as long as you cement the fin in.
@@501clonetrooper Yep, i had all these issues with my kit too. I'm planning on getting the 2.0.
In the order I build HG Unicorn, HGUC Blue Unicorn, Then three RG Unicorns (Perfect) (Full armor) (Normal Unicorn), MG Unicorn with the maintenance cage, PG Unicorn and lastly the Mega Unicorn
It was fun and taught me so much about Gunpla I suggest finding your favorite and building smallest to biggest
I built The RX-0 FA ver ka as my First MG and was a nightmare.... But looks sick and I really think was fun but I would love yo do it some time later, with more skill.
My first MG was the Ez-8. Old but I still love it, my bias for the 08th MS Team aside
I have the OYW Gelgoog. And I’m pretty sure that uses the 1.0 mold. It can barely pull off any poses, but I like it.
1.0 Alex was my first MG. They hold up. Only issue I've had with mine was a snapped arm. Which is slightly understandable. I've had it for close to 20 years.
Would love a RE/100 + FM video like this!
hahaha one of the first kits I first got was the FA Unicorn, it wasn't too bad.
My first gunpla is MG zeta gundam 2.0. It still in waverider mode till today because i'm too afraid to transform it back hahaha
Same!
My first MG is Zeta Gundam 2.0
I only transformed it once hahah.
Got it way back 2009 and its part of the 30th anniversary clear parts campaign.
I still have the kit in good condition with the box and everything 😊
My college roommates bought me a MG gouf custom as a birthday present years ago. Man what an experience building that kit
That was my first mg, I’m pretty sure I avoid any keys with vent plating now cause of it lol
I would add the MG Astray Turn Red to this list and the original Wing Zero EW
Why the turn red?
@@guan_yu2375 There is just so much to build and a lot of leftover parts. Really easy to get confused
Plus the additional two giant swords makes posing awkward

Forgot to mention the Gouf Custom's ankles. It's missing hinges for the back ankles & can lean foward to a rediculous degree. I personally like the GM Type C. Even bought 5 of them, good for a troop unit build but just lacks great articulation...but at $25.00 for one, it's a great deal
1:52 I was supposed to get Gouf Custom because it's the cheapest MG I see so far ($26) but thanks for your honest feedback I almost fall into the trap of another loose MS
I have built a few MG kits already and for the next MG I just got the Gouf Custom. Interesting that it was on this list. 🤔
First MG was the RX-78-2.
A couple of parts like to fall off if moved... But I think I did a good job for being my first MG.
The first MG I built was the Z Gundam. I liked it, but I was new to gunpla and it was the only MG I had seen. It was at a Babbages in 2000 or 2001.

I had built 1 SD and 4 HGs before tackling Zaku 2 MG Ver. 2.0
It was a fun build. A solid starting kit.
The master grade FAZZ was my first master grade.
I then eventually got the FAZZ ver ka later
I'd add the FA-78 and the Psycho Zaku II from Thunderbolt. The FA-78 was my first gunpla ever, and woof, that was a big jump. I keep looking back at it with stuff I could have done better.
My 1st kit EVER was wing zero ew VerKa. Worked out peachy and now i have 15 kits on backlog
FA Unicorn Verka was my first MG and took me almost forever to build it 😂😂
5:00 i get it.
Super expensive

1) Yeah, it's pricey due to so much extra plastic
2) How is that a make or break for beginners?
3) Bullshit excuse.
@@eins2001 Shelf space
And it is a legitimate reason especially for those who love posing their kits.
@@eins2001 price goes into the value of the overall kit though, someone's not just paying for material plastic. That's the make or break thing about it.
@@eins2001 2) shelve space, size intimidation and confusion due to high number of parts

My shield is barely clipped in and falls down all the time.
miy gouf custom held fine, but I guess it was one of the newer reissues
MG Sinanju;
It’s a beautiful kit, especially the titanium finish version, but some modeling skills are required; Particularly the waist peg that needs to be sanded down a bit so it doesn’t break when you try to twist the torso for poses.
The Exia was first MG kit. Everytime I go move it, something falls off.
mg V2 by it self is not worth it but it is with the Assault Buster add-on. It replaces some bad joints and makes the kit pretty solid, it is still on the smaller side tho.
Well, that's funny, the only MG I assembled was the Zeta Gundam Ver. KA. It went pretty well, but now that I think about it, I'm only a beginner to Master Grade kits, I built a lot of HG kits and some warhammer miniatures before then.
almost done with the MG GP01 atm, I don't hate it, even just panel washing it makes it look great
the zz mg was a pain in the ass building it and transforming it was a pain too
How about best rg's for beginners. Like the rg impulse, mk ii, zeta, etc

My boi Zaku is starting to look like a real life Zaku helmet lmao
Another reason not to get The Gouf Custom is the ankle joint. It has no rear stableizing joint. It pivots foward too much making it look like a Smooth Criminal. Also they made the Gatling Gun way too heavy. The Gatling also can not purge from the shield like in the OVA. So you can't just use the shield by itself.
Lol, the very first master grade i ever did, was the banshee ver.ka, prior to that, i only built a couple of sd's and the hg astaroth rinascimento
Would love to see RG recommendations.
Good RG for beginners? None, because the parts are too small for beginners and the build have to be specific
Avoid the rg zeta. Good rg kits to get r force impulse, nu/hi, sazabi, unicorns, and mk ii
My first ever Gunpla was a HG RX-75 Guntank
I personally had a really bad experience with the 0000 00 quan t
i would not have been able to finish it without glue
