- In this video, I head out to a favourite local spot with my faithful dog Maggie to make some coffee and breakfast. My stove of choice this week is the brilliant Toaks wood gasifying twig stove - perfect for making toasties using just a couple of handfuls of twigs.
After breakfast, I get on with the main reason for this video and that is to pick two winners for the Great British Beer Festival ticket giveaway competition I ran a month ago.

Why is it so nice and relaxing to watch a bloke in the woods? I guess it’s something to do with Simon’s optimistic and enthusiastic personality. Literally my favourite UA-cam channel right now.

Had a bad few days Simon, new leg giving me some issues. This was what the doctor ordered. Relaxing, serene, lovely toasties, coffee, and Maggie enjoying life. An ode to Andy with the T-shirt, and those great organizer bags.
I quit drinking, and am now enjoying the wealth of non-alcoholic beers and ciders that are actually quite good!

I hope the road to recovery is a short one mate! If you get a chance try Brewdog’s Punk AF (non alcohol) it’s got that good IPA taste going on - I usually have a load in the fridge for those times when you want a beer, but don’t want a beer 😁

Simon great video like always. Glad to see you mention about not covering the vent holes with wood and only filling it half way so it can work as a gasifier, and not just a regular twig stove. I've read reviews of people who think it doesn't work when it wasn't used correctly. Problem could be fixed with some kind of instructions that could come with the device but that's above my pay grade.

Wow Im always astounded by the variety and ingenuity of these tiny stoves that are around today. When I was going through Scouts and later Air Cadets we had either Trangers or those little square fold out paraffin stoves the army use.
These are brilliant as you don't have to carry fuel and are incredibly efficient.

I’m in NW GA, USA. It’s hot here. Mid 90s with humidity in the high 90s. Can’t really enjoy the woods between 11am and 7pm. I love your spirit, brother. You Brits always know how to enjoy any time a field.

Definitely a bloke in the woods today, Maggie, we all love Maggs. I have one of those twig stoves I made from some cans. I don't have one of those grills as yet. I might add one in time.
Nice to see other people sleep under a tarp in the garden. If you ever travel to North Wales and would like to break up the journey you can always camp on our land for free.

My first pack wood stove was a biolight with the pot and grill attachments it is an amazing piece of kit but a bit heavy I got a knock off gasification stove about half the size bigger than the toaks next, stainless steel worked awesome. I then bought the boundless voyage version in titanium, about the same size as the toaks, great burn time (considering the size) using the gasifier stoves. I now have 6 little wood stoves, 3 gasification, 2 hinged and one slotted, they are addictive little things my favorite though goes to the boundless voyage Dragon Horse folding wood stove. Twig stoves are the bomb! In public parks, the trick is to pick up your fuel before the grounds maintenance crew rake. We get a few weird looks and often questions about the simple device we are cooking on. I love those teaching moments because others may become better prepared for the natural disasters that can occur here at my home base in the Philippines

I love going back over past videos like this because they help to fuel my mind. If you remember, some while ago I mentioned I was working on a Rocket Stove. I made it and it was very good, however I have recently been looking at ways to make it even more efficient and hotter so I can use it to superheat a Wok for Chinese Cuisine. Always enjoy enjoy content and I always enjoy your builds. 🙏

A little Tip: You can buy a small soldering heat resistant mat cheap and place that under these stoves to prevent any chance of burning roots etc under them.
