  • Two blokes, one canoe and a whole heap of bacon!
In this video, I meet up with Richard Outdoors for a riverside wild camp. After flying down during one of the windiest days we have had for a long time, I collect Richard from a small ex-world war two airfield and we head off in the canoe to find a spot to camp. Tarp shelters set up (not an easy task in 40mph gusts!) we collect firewood and get a well needed brew on.
Dinner is supplied and cooked by Richard on his ingenious Fire Trough stove - a mountain of delicious Char Siu pork belly, absolutely scrumptious! We spend the evening catching up by the glow of lamp and campfire.
The morning brings a bit less wind and a huge, bacon heavy breakfast (home cured by Richard himself) before packing up and heading back to the airfield.
It was a throughly enjoyable camp with delicious food, lots of laughs and superb company - thank you Richard!
Richard also filmed the weekend, so please head over to his channel for his version of events. He is a great chap with a wicked sense of humour - I think you will enjoy his videos (including the making of his stove and his cured bacon!)
    Thanks for watching!

I watch your vid's for therapy.. I have all the T shirts, now I am unwell and aging, but I have my memories and your videos bring it all back in detail. Stupid little things that make me so happy... Nature and friendship... that's really what it's all about!

That is the loudest tree I've ever heard. I could close my eyes and feel the breeze, which would add to the illusion of being on an old sailing ship drifting on the sea.

That pork might go well with a big pot of pork-n-nettle greens. I wouldn’t mind to cut up a slice of the fattiest piece of that beautiful bacon into a big pot of nettle greens, and if you had an onion and some salt and pepper...whew. I like the new sensible wood stove, seems like a great idea, light, folds flat, bigger surface, smart. Richard Outdoors? That breakfast was for a couple of kings, man-o-man! Thanks for sharing.
