- Two blokes, one canoe and a whole heap of bacon!
In this video, I meet up with Richard Outdoors for a riverside wild camp. After flying down during one of the windiest days we have had for a long time, I collect Richard from a small ex-world war two airfield and we head off in the canoe to find a spot to camp. Tarp shelters set up (not an easy task in 40mph gusts!) we collect firewood and get a well needed brew on.
Dinner is supplied and cooked by Richard on his ingenious Fire Trough stove - a mountain of delicious Char Siu pork belly, absolutely scrumptious! We spend the evening catching up by the glow of lamp and campfire.
The morning brings a bit less wind and a huge, bacon heavy breakfast (home cured by Richard himself) before packing up and heading back to the airfield.
It was a throughly enjoyable camp with delicious food, lots of laughs and superb company - thank you Richard!
Richard also filmed the weekend, so please head over to his channel for his version of events. He is a great chap with a wicked sense of humour - I think you will enjoy his videos (including the making of his stove and his cured bacon!)
Thanks for watching!

I did! I watched his version of your outing together, and I subbed his Channel. Hope to see you both together again. Very enjoyable!
Is this near Bungay?
I like your barrel pack! where do you get the barrel?
@Maggie H Thanks Maggie!
@dfgdtg it’s further upstream, closer to Diss. 👍
'I did an Andy' hahaha 🤣 cheeky bugger... true though
Hey Andy, just in case - you still have your old lady as a thumbnail...? ;-)
Hahaha!! 😉
Hi andy, big follower of your channel also, I was wondering what axe it is you use? Many thanks and keep up the good work 👍
I watch your vid's for therapy.. I have all the T shirts, now I am unwell and aging, but I have my memories and your videos bring it all back in detail. Stupid little things that make me so happy... Nature and friendship... that's really what it's all about!
Thanks mate, keep em coming.
That is the loudest tree I've ever heard. I could close my eyes and feel the breeze, which would add to the illusion of being on an old sailing ship drifting on the sea.
Richards a gentleman
“ it’ll be ok
It’ll be fine “
Hahaha
Mmm pork belly and ginger ale
A great combo that dates back centuries
My Dad was a farmer when I was a kid. He cured hams, corned beef and bacon in huge crocks. I loved everything except the headcheese and scrapple that he loved...😊❤
Wow the char Siu looks amazing…well done to Rich.
My sister made ginger ale and root beer one time...the root beer bottles exploded in the basement during the night!! Scared us silly...we nervously giggled all night....❤❤❤
Keep having breakfasts like that and you'll be needing a bigger canoe...and a wider river :)
Chief Martin Brody: You're gonna need a bigger boat.
Working it off for sure
Leave no trace...take nothing home. Cracking video and what a feast, evening and morning.
Hahaha, man found wedged in Norfolk river....
@@simonablokeinthewoods 😂🤣😂
Thank you , Simon .
🐺 Loupis Canis .
He wasn’t lying when he said he had some pork belly…….that looks GOOD!
Awesome video pal. These guests of yours are getting more and more handsome each time!! Absolutely brilliant mate!!
:-) *
just grabbed one of the fire troughs, can't wait - looks sweet as heck!
Your stove looks awesome mate, nice one.
@@reallandscapes9626 Same 😀.
And less and less hairy too - Maggie - Andy - Zed - You 😂🤪
That tree sounds like me each time I climb off the bed in the mornings!
Hahaha. Me too mate, me too! 😁👍🔥
Yes indeed ! Me too!
thanks guys ... good times
I thought that looked like a difficult landing for the plane, but now I realise it was just overloaded with pork and bacon :D
Jon Fisher That was before the meals!!
That constant creaky tree! It's like camping on a salty old pirate ship! Great video guys.
Beej Mcl I thought it was going to come down in the wind and flatten two of my favourite UA-cam-ers. Les in UK
@@leslieaustin151 I thought it was the Predator!
You are very nice company! Make other videos together! Thanks for the beautiful video!
Cholesterol explosion ...soo good !!
I bloody love that squeaky tree , the breakfast looked good too chaps , 🦘🙏
At 12:52 "I did an Andy". That was hilarious. Great trip-thanks for letting us tag along. Take it easy Simon. Roger
I'm a bit late to this party, but I very much enjoyed the video. Good fellowship, camaraderie, food (I do love pork belly), a fire in the outdoors, and ginger ale. And coffee. And bacon, eggs, potatoes, onions, and more bacon. Ya can't go wrong with more bacon. Keep up the good work, gents.
I'd be sleeping with one eye on that dilapidated tree you're under...looks like a widow maker to me and that wind isn't messing around!!😮❤❤
Good music...sounds like Bluegrass!❤❤❤
Oh no cheers then!?... a brilliant moment there
'Sheltered from the wind by these high nettles...' 😂🤣😂
Thanks man. Peace.
One of my favorite episodes, so I watched it again today! Hoping the two of you will do another one together some time!
Looked like a splendid trip. The food is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very cool meeting Richard.
I learned something - crack the eggs into a bottle! Smart man. I’ll use that, thanks!
Excellent video Simon. I’ll definitely check out Richards channel.
That bacon looked amazing mmmmmm
Love the outtakes at the end..😂
Damn.... Now I'm hungry. Love the video.
That fire trough looks a cracking bit of kit
Proper campin. Gotta admit I was a little envious
Lol, the tree creaking in the wind sounds like an old pirate ship at sea.
Hi Simon. Another great video. That collapsible stove is fantastic. I loved the sound of the creaking trees in the background. So relaxing.
“You know what you need..?”
“A buck saw...!”
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😉😂
Thanks for the great video, and the bloopers were so funny. Cheers
That pork might go well with a big pot of pork-n-nettle greens. I wouldn’t mind to cut up a slice of the fattiest piece of that beautiful bacon into a big pot of nettle greens, and if you had an onion and some salt and pepper...whew. I like the new sensible wood stove, seems like a great idea, light, folds flat, bigger surface, smart. Richard Outdoors? That breakfast was for a couple of kings, man-o-man! Thanks for sharing. Texas
Thanks mate!
Another wonderful video.
The fire trough looks like it would work great.
God Bless
Good old mountain music of Tennessee in the opener
The best looking breakfast this side of the Atlantic. 👍
Love the banjo sound in the beginning brother!!!🤓💯👍🍻👏👏🇺🇸
The wind could have been miserable but your shelters gave protection for sleeping and the fire seemed to be in a vfc recessed area. Perfect. Richard seems like a great guy & quite creative.
Great video thanks guys
Super c est la même aventure qu avec kent...... cool
watching again nice stove design
叉烧肉 is sweet!Love your videos!
Your cooking is fabulous!
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BETTER THAN BACON COOKED OVER A CAMP FIRE! Great video, again
If you're out in the woods and you hear banjo music........RUN!!
Good video by the way, loved it, thanx
Great video again thanks for sharing
If, that wind got much stronger Richard wouldn't have needed his plane to fly home.
Another great video guys. Can’t believe Simon forgot food! 🙀 Love that stove design...
Looks like you and Richard outdoors had a great time beautiful area thanks Simon
Superb Both!
Simon, thanks for honoring your words, you said in a before video you´ll take out the Comal to the outdoors and I really like it and while my wife was watching tv I start to yell at her ¨Come, come here, what you see in this video ? ¨ She answeared inmediatly to me ¨That is an ANAFRE, my Mom had one¨ And I said ¨Yes, my Mom got one too, it is an ancient square wood stove element of the mexican cuisine from PRECOLOMBINE TIMES, but yours it´s a beautiful portable and buildable modern rectangular version of it and we really likes it and looks great¨ Your videos remember me books I have ¨The Cockleshell´s heroes, Chindits The Great Incursion, The Road Past Mandalay and of course, SAS SURVIVAL MANUAL, among others Special Operations Units official books, readings I made when I did my military service and later when I was a Chief Intructor of Mexican Red Cross rescue teams Nuevo León State, I participated as rescuer in all mayor disasters happened in my Country included the Gilberto Hurricane , that the reason I have a two people kayak and trying to get all the stuff mentioned in that books included an original Kukri knife, the book ¨Paradise Lost¨ of John Milton¨ ; the author of the book ¨ The Road Past Mandalay, Major John Masters mentioned he only tooks with him away this book ¨Paradise Lost¨ with a pair of wool socks made it by his wife, Barbara, acording to the Author, the only civilians articles he takes with him away when he was asigned to the Chindits to the CBI Theatre of War. That fire trough was special. Certainly a must-buy for me
Great camera and sound work Simon. I mentioned on Richard's video that if you ever run out of space to camp in the U.K. I know of a few here in Canada. Perhaps after COVID the world will come together again! All the best!
All I kept hearing what is that tree with the wind could hear it I’d be afraid of it coming down but anyway that’s me. And I see and he replied to you.
