I think with this actor resembling Henry Cavill will hopefully open a door for an appearance of Cavill down the road. Maybe a Kingdom Come role or a possible time jump or something. I'll give it a chance for now. To me I just want to see the world Gunn builds. He should try not to rush or mash things together. He should build a world over time like Marvel did. Every iteration of Superman in film or TV has started with the same origin story OVER AND OVER. That's why he believed keeping Henry where he is now and go immediately to have him counter threats bigger than Metropolis opens more room fr more characters, more moments and more world building. Let’s be honest here, Henry’s physique is how most Superman fans see Superman closely looking like. Love your videos. Just to clarify though, I'm one of the people that want to see a young Superman. I love the fact that this story is going to put more focus on him being Clark Kent at the Daily Planet. During Henry's tenure as Superman, they almost entirely avoided and disregarded that whole entire half of his duel identity. They also eliminated Lois' duel relationship with Clark and Superman separately, which is one of the most fun aspects about their dynamic. Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Planet, was merely used as his decoy disguise when he's not being Superman, which doesn't work for me. Clark IS Clark. That is who he is. The most relatable thing about Superman is the fact that when all is said and done, he's just a guy. A guy with a job. A career. Income. Bills to pay. Friends. An apartment. A love interest. That is what makes Superman such a great character. It's what he does when he's NOT wearing an 'S' on his chest. Man Of Steel/BVS etc forgot that or ignored that. In terms of Henry Cavill, you won't get any argument from me. He was dream casting. No doubt. NO ONE ON EARTH was a happier Superman fan than when he was cast. It felt like winning the lottery. No one wanted him to be 'their Superman' as much as I did. No one. But then the films came out and they just did not work for me. I felt disappointed and let down by the lack of character development and story arc. Also the sheer lack of positivity and joy. Zero heart or warmth to those films. The moment that crushed me forever was watching my favourite superhero character of all time let his father die. Violently. That shattered the illusion that I was watching MY Superman from there on. I could write a dissertation about what made Henry Cavill's Superman fail for me...and none of the reasons were Henry Cavill's fault. They were creative decisions made by the creatives. I personally am glad to see a new Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane in a completely new story. I feel like this film might vaguely act like the Spider-Man: Homecoming of Superman films. A brand new and fresh take on Superman that's not necessarily an origin story but a fun and emotional story focussing on him as a person and his early days and solidifying his character and story arc for future films too. Guess we'll see...
Bro honestly, he looks like a cross between Henry Cavill and Tom Welling, which is actually perfect. Also, dude is 6'4" and only 29 years old. If this guy has the physique and acting style to match, we could honestly have our new Supes for over the next decade.
I dont understand Joe's complaining about the Daily Planet thing. Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen during the Daily Planet and their interactions and relationship is like some of the best Superman content.
Yeah Snyder mostly skipped the Clark Kent part, so I don't get why Joe is complaining about it now. Superman's identity was never even a secret for Lois
Clarks life just needs to be more modernized. The daily planet shit is boring. The only time I liked his reporter interactions is when he interviewed Bruce Wayne in BvS. They're gonna have to come up with something interesting.
its hard to include any compelling reporter work in a 2 hour movie. smallville had bits of it in dozens of episodes and it seemed like it was a job. in a movie they will just gloss it over as "you see? he is doing reporter work in this 10 minute segment, he is a reporter im telling you". i really doubt theyre going to scorcese it up when they have a guy who really doesnt need to sneak around in a trenchcoat.
Whoever made that photoshop of the Max Fleischer cartoon suit is awesome. Idk if that has been the rumor of the direction they’re gonna go with the design but they should because it looks great.
David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are the perfect choices for Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane. I have faith in James Gunn’ vision and this seems to be an accurate representation of their comic-book counterparts. Also, this gives me Superman (1978) vibes. 🦸🏻♂️

I am soooo beyond happy at the casting!! I called for Corenswet to be Superman 2 years ago! He had expressed wanting to play him in the past, he looks amazing, he's 6'4, he is a solid actor but also not A-list. Exactly what we need for Superman. Can't wait!!
Rachel starred in The Marvel Mrs. Maisel, which is a show about a Jewish female standup comedian in the 1950s/60s. I could definitely see her pulling off the classic witty Lois Lane. Not sure about the new guy as Superman but James Gunn has always had a pretty good eye for casting.
Nah.. Henry COULD HAVE BEEN GOOD - but he was the only person wanting to see a “joyful” superman.. other than that - he was brooding, depressed and violent.. not something Superman is.

@@Argumemnon i agree, superman is literally one of the most recognizable superheroes on the planet and unlike say batman or spiderman, he doesn't wear a mask so his appearance does play a bigger factor
Smallville is literally 10 seasons focused exclusively on Clark Kent. I’d say it’s more than enough. Superman and Lois also did a fantastic job with Clark.
You’ve saying nobody wants a super man origin story but I feel like that’s perfect i don’t think there’s been a big screen adaptation of super man’s origin since I’ve been alive, and I’m almost 23, definitely think it’s time to tell that story again. He’s not Spider-Man who’s had multiple origin films in less then two decades
I think what James Gunn meant by it not being an origin story means it will skip through Clark's landing/child phase in Smallville. We've seen this one too many times already. It will technically be an origin for him being Superman though, from what I've heard Supe's is going to be a heavy boy scout and him dealing with not being the first hero in the universe.
I think Tom Whelling will always be my Superman/Clark Kent. Him and Michael Rosenbaum as lex luthor. IMO smallville had the best repesentation for superman. (once you get past some of the freak of the week 22 episodes weekly TV format.)
yea but i dont really even want to see tom welling flying around and blitzing around saving everything in an instant, and toms younger supes wouldnt match with justice league that well either with bruce, diana and barry pushing their nose in everything. smallville was beautiful but thats that. though if they ever did a superman game id hope it follows smallville and only at the very end you learn to fly at will and beat some villains with left hand while end credits are rolling
Joe finally getting the Superman he wants. The hopeful Boy Scout. And I’m glad we are getting a new Superman. Henry had his own Superman. Would be weird to change him honestly and they want a younger supes to carry the new trilogy ofc. We always have cavils Superman.
After seeing him in The Politician and Hollywood, I have realized that David Corenswet has a very clear edge over Henry Cavill in terms of acting ability. He has range, and can play characters that are not perfect but without being cynical or jaded. And Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane? After watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, I can only say she is a slam dunk casting. If Superman: Legacy doesn't work out, it will not be because of Corenswet or Brosnahan.
I hope they have phone booths, I hope they have blimps for gotham, I want all those fantasy-esc elements. I think the general audience is ready for that campiness and style, no need to set it in our exact time and world, where everything is bland and depressing cuz its "real".
There is nothing fantastic about phone booths, they were real and used for 70 years. We just don't have public phones anymore. It would be a nice nod to the past having them in Metropolis, but far from fantasy.
@@Mgranadosv They were obviously real, but like you said not used anymore. And no zoom or facetime booths, lol, just the classics. It doesn't have to feel like its set in our world, which is why i use the word fantasy. Where blimps are used by the police, etc.
writing wise he was the worst superman probably, you mean the look? like if that's what really matters on a character lol, anyway this new guy will probably be better in any way, they can't screw the characterization this time unless they're braindead, they will not make "sad superman" and jesus allegory crap that snyder liked a lot, they learned their lesson i suppose.
Kal-El is Kryptonian and ages a lot slower than humans so a young looking but experienced Superman can actually be the case. They never actually said he was unexperienced.
With any luck, Henry Cavill will be our next 007 so we will see what happens! I'm okay with this casting choice, but we'll see how his acting chops are.
no thanks. he will just half-ass it because he has obligations toward the warhammer series. he will show up in a bulky orc armor and the bond editors need to cgi him into the suit. bond needs someone who can commit to it for 4 movies minimum
I have seen Rachel Brosnahan and she’s an incredible actress! Yes Mrs. Maisel is a comedy but most comedic actors can do serious if they can do comedy. So I have no doubt she’ll be great 👍 David looks great for superman too.
I hope he can kind of channel the spirit of the Reeve Superman. Chris Reeve is the Superman. I think Henry coule have been great but Snyder didn't understand the character. Love the 4k superman steelbook set with all.of the Christopher Reeve films.
Well, to be completely honest, if they make an origin story similar to the Superman Animated series I'd be all over that. Cause come on Joe, we all know that the Superman and Batman Animated series' will always be legendary.
I honestly don't even want to see Cavill come back. He has done nothing but respect the character and been professionally about how he handled everything but WB still treated him like trash up to the very end. Couldn't even make a MOS2 but Aquaman and WW got two movies. Yeah hopefully Cavill just focuses on his current projects. I'm glad i got to watch him take on a character he really loved to play while it lasted.
To me, being a fan of Super Man makes more sense when you are a toddler, a teenager even a young adult, because you look up to him and want to be like him when you grow up. But then you are in your 30s, and it´s weird to look up a younger version, especially when you already saw him grow in another version. Im not saying you cannot enjoy it, but it would never be the same. That's why Joe prefers an older version. It´s easier to relate with a hero than it´s struggling with things we are dealing with in the present or that they are already surpassed; that ¨metaphor of dealing with life¨ Super Heroes represent (you want to be them and surpass your struggles as well). Toddlers look up to teenagers and want to be them, therefore teenage heroes (such as TMNT or Spiderman) would attract them more (it´s a know market strategy; because it´s in our subconsciousness, it´s a natural response). In your 30s, Super Man at high school or college would never be as relatable as a Super Man that already lost friends, and family and it´s struggling with being a hero for so long or something along those lines.

I think with this actor resembling Henry Cavill will hopefully open a door for an appearance of Cavill down the road. Maybe a Kingdom Come role or a possible time jump or something.
He doesn't seem to really like the human part of Superman, just like Snyder
Yeah Snyder mostly skipped the Clark Kent part, so I don't get why Joe is complaining about it now. Superman's identity was never even a secret for Lois
They like less story and more action

@@QCI99 Is he though? Moore, Dalton and Brosnan were all 40+ when they got the part.
@@bikehunter82warhammer?
no thanks. he will just half-ass it because he has obligations toward the warhammer series. he will show up in a bulky orc armor and the bond editors need to cgi him into the suit.
bond needs someone who can commit to it for 4 movies minimum
I have seen Rachel Brosnahan and she’s an incredible actress! Yes Mrs. Maisel is a comedy but most comedic actors can do serious if they can do comedy. So I have no doubt she’ll be great 👍 David looks great for superman too.
I was never into the old DCEU so I’m happy that they’re starting fresh. Hopefully it turns out good.
Yeah it was a mess.
child groomer baby microwaving the movie
ezra is sick person
I think Corensweat is perfect casting. Confirms Gunn is going for a more Reeves-eaque Superman (which is what we need)
I hope he can kind of channel the spirit of the Reeve Superman. Chris Reeve is the Superman. I think Henry coule have been great but Snyder didn't understand the character.
Love the 4k superman steelbook set with all.of the Christopher Reeve films.
The Jonah Hill reference is fucking brilliant🤣🤣
Younger (and taller) Henry Cavill is pretty much what everybody and their mother wanted.
Cavil was tall enough. I Don't get why people are so obsessed and fixated on height, the length of people's bodies
We've been lucky to have some really great Supermen:
Christopher Reeves
Tom Welling
Brandon Routh
Henry Cavill
Tyler Hoechlin
Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Dean Cain.....
Dont forget jonah hill
The fact he looks quite a lot like Henry seems like a bit of a knife twist to him and the fans.
I think the world needs a more hopeful and heroic Superman more than ever.
Yes, AND we could’ve got that with Cavill.
“Will Superman punch people, do cool fights and have alot of action!!!!??? Fuck that Clark Kent shit, you know the thing that anchors him to humanity and makes us care for him? Where’s the explosions!!!?” - Angry Joe
From what's been said, Gunn wants a young Superman that audiences can grow with over time.
Honestly David Corenswet is the next best thing after Henry.
He has spoken in great terms of the character (and even of Henry's performance), and he has the looks for sure. I trust him.
He looks like he would do justice to Superman
As long as BOTH OF THEM stay off social media for as long as they can, they can both hit it off. But overall I like this casting so far and wish him and her the best, but we gotta see test screenings first. NOW ON TO LEX LUTHER
They wanted Henry Cavill's looks without Henry Cavill's attitude and charisma...
I doubt a movie called Superman Legacy is an Origin Story.
This casting looks good and yeah he does look similar to Henry it’s almost uncanny he really looks like a good Superman totally see it and as a fan I approve
