    Those Icelandic hotdogs were the BEST!

    That was a very enjoyable video. There’s very little chance of reproducing this tasty hotdog in the UK…but I do love an Icelandic hotdog. So I reckon I’ll have to wait until my next visit. Thanks guys 👍🏼👍🏼

    Yay! More Karl content! As Americans, we’ve ingested an inordinate amount of trashy hotdogs. We are very much looking forward to the Icelandic hotdog experience. Thinking it would be a highly appropriate meal after visiting the penis museum.

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  2 роки тому +1

      Haha you are not going to be disappointed I think. And the penis museum is probably strategically located close to the hot dog stand now that you mention it 🤔

      @@TimeWarpIceland Genius marketing. If you can stomach it, we’ll definitely buy you one! Or perhaps some food that isn’t extruded. We will be there in 10 days. It would be a blast to meet you!

    Thanks for the much needed instructions! What I would like to know, however, is what kind of meat is in the hotdog? I have heard they use lamb, is that true?

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  2 роки тому +1

      They say its pork, lamb and beef. Probably low class meet that doesn't sell very well to reduce food waste. All I know is that those who have seen what's in them stop eating them. So I prefer not to ask questions 😅

    Great stuff, but it's kind of short video! Thanks, I just remembered Icelandic condiments. I like it, you can say whatever you want!:) When I come to Iceland, I'm buying you guys a drink, is it a deal?

      Do you have exactly one pig, one cow and one horse? Then you have enough for the hot dogs according to the ingredients.

    Man! You just got me craving one of those delicious hot dogs. We can’t get most of those ingredients in the US, I checked on Amazon and there are some but very expensive since they are imported.

    When I tried one of those I took two bites and threw it out. Looking into the barrel, I could see that many others did the same. The real deal in Reykjavik is Saegreifinn, the Sea Baron down in the harbor.

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  Рік тому +2

      Must have chosen the wrong combo. Or realized it's just ground up left overs stuffed in skin put on a bread bun with overly sweat sauces on. Either way, it's delicious in my opinion with fried onions, overly sweet ketchup, hot dog, remúlaði and something that almost resembles mustard in that order.

    • @tedcrum
      @tedcrum Рік тому

      @@TimeWarpIceland I should have gotten onions, I guess. Going back in July for a motorcycle ride, may try again. But Sea Baron for sure.

    Since Reykjavik is said to be the most expensive city in world , you should do a shopping video, maybe at supermarket and other essentials so we can compare prices there vs £, $ or € for example. Thanks

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  2 роки тому

      Great idea, I will definitely put that on the ideas sheet. I don't think it's true at the moment that we are the most expensive. We have a very volatile little currency. Much smaller than Disney dollars was. So it can vary, literally from month to month how expensive everything is.

    I went to the hotdog stand for lunch, then later in the day met up with a local for coffee. We decided to get a hotdog. The woman in the hotdog stand recognised me and said "welcome back" right in front of us both. A sure sign I needed to cool off getting hotdogs and make them at the non existent cooking facilities at my hotel

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  Рік тому

      It's so easy and it will save you a ton of money. You could use the cettle. Boil water and poor over the hot dogs. Leave them untill they start floating. Not perfect, but I bet it would work.

    Great idea to replicate the famous hotdog at home! Would it be possibile for you to check if the ingredients are gluten free (bread excepted, of course)? Thank you!

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  2 роки тому +1

      It's not gluten free I'm afraid. Atleast not the mustard or remúlaði. I think the ketchup is and off course the onions. And having ketchup and fried onions only is quite popular.

    Man, I've been trying to reproduce a version of this remoulade for over a year now and I just can't find anything close to it on the internet. Even Icelandic websites never have remoulade with cabbage (they usually use pickled cucumbers), but all Icelandic brands use cabbage. To be more specific, I would love to learn how to make """"remópúrra"""!!! As it is on the ingredients list: "Repjuolía, remópúrra (hvítkál, sykur, edik, laukur, HVEITISTERKJA, SINNEPSDUFT, salt, krydd, umbreytt sterkja (úr mais), vatn, EGGJARAUÐUR, sykur, þráavarnarefni (E330), krydd, salt, rotvarnarefni (E202, E211, E260), bindiefni (E415)"
    Please can you help me with a recipe, or a video, or a link, anything?

    • @TimeWarpIceland
      @TimeWarpIceland  2 роки тому +3

      Well that is an interesting question. I know some Icelandic sheffs, I shall ask around and get back to you. It blows my mind that there is cabbage in it.
