We leave for the airport for our flight to Reykjavik in about 2 hours. We have the food walk booked for this Tuesday afternoon. My mouth is already watering!
We were in Iceland in May of this year and absolutely fell in love with it, and are planning a return trip. The food is amazing, well, except for the fermented shark, which was nasty!! The lobster soup in Iceland is amazing! Our favourite spot was the SeaBaron! Loved the hotdogs from the oldest hotdog stand in Iceland. Fish and chips are a must in Iceland too! We didn't try the rye bread icecream because when it was on the menu we were too full after our dinner! However we did find a fantastic ice cream shop by the harbour near the Omm Nomm Chocolate factory, which had the most amazing licorice ice cream! Can't wait to return to Iceland, such an amazing place, with fantastic and friendly people!
LOVE THIS VIDEO! I couldn't get over how amazing the pickled herring was 😂 They had it as an option for breakfast every morning and I loved all 7 mornings with it! Great butter too!
I already booked myself a spot on the food walk for when I get there in November and I am counting down the days!! Everything looks amazing and I cannot wait to give it a try!!! :)
Since licorice is very popular in Iceland, is there licorice ice cream and licorice yogurt also? If so, I'm taking the next flight to Reykjavik today!!
I’m in Reykjavik right now. It is amazing. But one thing I will say is don’t bother with the hot dogs from that famous stall (you will get advised to visit). They are cheap store bought hit dogs but for some reason there is always a long line. I assume it’s because Clinton Or the Kardashian went there, nether of which are known for their good decisions. The lamb is the best I have ever tasted.
Hello there Sarah! Do not be mistaken - even though Iceland has so much delicious seafood and shellfish, you can have phenomenal meals here without them :) We often get people who cannot have fish, shellfish, or both on our Reykjavík Food Walk without any problems, so don't let that allergy change your plans of visiting our amazing country 🇮🇸 If you need any help in planning an amazing Iceland trip - be sure to reach out 🧡
I planned to visit Iceland for a long time. I really enjoyed everything there. And I am planning to go again. I confess I really tried but Lamb 🐑 was a little difficult 😣 😅
Hi! Are there apps or anything that can help me read labels (ingredients) on foods at the supermarket. We are going in a few weeks and I am nervous because my toddler is allergic to a lot of things. Thank you in advance!
Hey there! I am afraid none that I am familiar with, so sorry about that. However many of the ingredient list is also listed in english and all staff members should be able to assist 😀 hope this helps!
Hello there Shujaul! Yes, you can find them in some places like at the Viking Hot Dog stand and at The Icelandic Bar - but the ones at the hot dog stand are predominantly lamb but with a tiny bit of pork and beef mixed in as well :)
Love the ricotta and fig ice cream at Gaeta.
Im a Midwestern American and going out for ice cream is very popular especially when my grandma was a kid
That’s a good list. I’ve tried all 5 of these items and they are delicious.
Glad you like them!

Since licorice is very popular in Iceland, is there licorice ice cream and licorice yogurt also? If so, I'm taking the next flight to Reykjavik today!!
Oh yes! And Licorice shots, and licorice candies, licorice salt and sauces and you name it!

The lamb is the best I have ever tasted.
I just realised that the reason Icelandic people are so big & strong is that they grow up eating Skyr!
Facts!
Any other dishes you would recommend for a winter trip to watch the lights?
Hey there Chris! Oh yes, so many more! Maybe I should do a part 2 🤔
I had planned to visit Iceland, but I have a life threatening allergy to fish and shellfish (crustaceans). I’m now terrified to go!!!

Great video. I'm not eating that shark.. my husband did. I won't. That "Black Death" is deadly though it had us sitting on the toilet for hours
Oh no! I've never heard that reaction before, hope it was not to bad!
How do you handle food allergies on the food walk?
My wife is allergic to any and all dairy.
A great question, we can definitely do that - just book and note it as you book and we will be sure to get her some tasty alternatives! 😋
This might be a dumb question - but does the Reykjavik Food Walk include the Food in the price?
No at dumb question at all! And yes it does! 🎉

Why did you put on the Sheep head ?
Are there hotdogs available in Iceland which do not contain pork?
Hello there Shujaul! Yes, you can find them in some places like at the Viking Hot Dog stand and at The Icelandic Bar - but the ones at the hot dog stand are predominantly lamb but with a tiny bit of pork and beef mixed in as well :)
What about gluten free food?
We also have Gluten Free options on our Food Walk! And in Iceland generally, it has great gluten free option! 🥳
Hi. Do all your hot dogs contain pork ?
Our hot dogs do contain traces of pork unfortunately!
@@WakeUpReykjavik. thanks for the reply 😃
Ну бейты натыришь с работы, нажаришь и лопаешь! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
