P0031 P0037 P0051 P0057- Multiple Bad ECM's or Bad Diag?

- It's not what you think or have seen, it's what you can prove. But after the proof, the problem returns....three times. Makes you start to question your diagnostic capabilities.

Just a quick follow up. The forth ECM (used) worked as it should. Vehicle is confirmed fixed
Excellent! That kind of frustration deserves cold one!
@@HouseCallAutoRepair Likely the current sense resistor on the feedback circuit in the pcm. I'd love to crack a known bad one to test.
Wow that would have seriously made me doubt myself. The statistic probability of 3 bad ECMs is next to nothing. Play the lotto my friend.
Excellent diag brother, I do them on my channel as well, definitely would have anyone second guessing 👍🏾
Fuck that's nuts. What a nightmare
Getting more difficult to get decent "rebuilt" parts. That will make you think that your loosing your mind, and all the time to proof it. Thanks for sharing! Great seeing you!
Great to see you and the family sir. Looking forward to the next time
Already read your update. Was going to suggest weak power to the ECU; shoot your thermal camera at power in to look for excess heat, caused by high resistance. Could also test with a voltmeter looking for a high voltage drop.
Powers and grounds were checked. I would think they would cause more issues then I had if it were. But always like the thought process. Thank you
Superb job as always, brother!
I appreciate that
Great job thank you for sharing your skills
Thank you
Usually a bad ground will throw those codes as well, but testing is key, good job.
Yes sir. First test I did was load the supply and ground. Thank you
Sorry, that shakes you up. Gets you questioning yourself. You did good 👍 Hoping to see you at Super Saturday 😉
I will see you there.
You should try the lottery man. No no this story scares me. I'm glad the 4TH ECU worked out.
Thank you
Excellent diag.
Thank you kindly!
Great job thanks
You bet
I have seen this before with Chrysler PCM's. Especially on Caravans with bad drivers for the coil packs. It is frustrating. I try to get my Chrysler PCMs from the junk yard from a wrecked car if possible.
Used does seem to work better. Hope you are well
Thanks for the update
Nice🎉
Thanks 🤗
I had the exact issue with the o2 heaters on an older explorer. 3 remans and one used took care of it. Scanner said 0 amps heater on but amp clamped the heaters had 4 amps total
O2 codes and Ford go together like PB&J.
I’ve had a similar situation before.
The only other thing I would check is pin tension on the pcm connector. If your back probing maybe you're making a good connection but once you remove your pins you lose connection. I don't know just thinking about what's left.
🤣
I agree on checking pin tension, but just 4 pins that happen to be the O2 heaters? And all at the same time? But I love the thought process
👍👍👍
The worst is when you get a new part, & it's bad again. Even worst is if you are a DIY person & you keep going back to Oreillys saying the part is bad. They will tell you something else is wrong, not the PCM. It's very frustratring. I know from experience with a MAF sensor issue I was having.
N.E.W.= never ever works
I like your channel, and I like to comment as I watch, please stop guessing at the codes, the scanner is right there in front of you and the key could have already been on when you started to record brother as this is where you were going already. Thanks for the case study RECAP, much appreciated.
What a nightmare, I've been there before. Between us, I'd sure those defective PCM will never be rebult again, if ya know what I mean. I wonder if the codes would have changed if you left the sensor disconnected?
No codes if disconnected. It was one of my tests. Good thinking
What are the odds on that!
Pretty good in my case. Go figure
Buy yourself a good dinner tonight, you deserve it!!!
Now you know why Keith left. 😮
Nah. Keith left for better living. NY is a commi state
Wow, Crazy! You should get the 4th PCM from a diff supplier! Did you get it fixed yet?
Replacement one and two came from different places. Last one was from a junk yard and worked fine
@@SAAutoRepair Crazy!
On those its oem or ntk sensors, add the same problem and it turn out to be the sensors
Yup. The shop started with 4 OE sensors
I am having exactly the same 4 error codes on a Chrysler 300c, 5,7 HEMI 2006 model. I have tried to test the ground wiring but not sure if I am doing the right thing. Please assist on how to test ground.
Where were you getting the PCMs from? I recently had a ridiculous issue with Flagship One just like this...
I got 3 ECMs from FS1 and they were all junk. All 3 set the 0037 code. I sent them back and they gave me store credit, which I will never use.
I won't even show up to a shop that purchased from FS1. Too many headaches
This is why we technicians hate engineers 😮💨
Engineers? Manufacturer of components? Assembler? I think it's a break down of team work all around
I won’t ask you to divulge who sold the garage the bad ECM’s, but who sold the good one?
Junk yard FTW
I am in the exactly same situation!! Did you solve this remplacing the PCM?
Yes
Turo the same car remove ecm and install in the rented car to check it
Sneaky. I like it. But nobody is going to rent an 06 Charger
where can i buy that probe kit thanks
AESWAVE.COM it's an awesome kit
Best kit out, hands down
Allcomputerressources crap!!!
Flagship one crap!!!
Agreed
Excellent diag.
Thank you kindly!
