    Came across you channel, tip never run the motor without the water attached to the unit….. you might wanna order replacement parts for the lower end propeller, etc., etc. change all the oils and before you tried to crank it you should’ve pulled the spark plugs and put oil down all the cylinders excellent way to bend that to the cylinder wall, looking forward to the videos.

    If the block has JB in it, really doesn’t matter if the engine spins. Good content, enjoying it 👍🏼

    I worked for Mercruiser in Stillwater, love seeing an engine and drive that came out of the plant! I always wonder when I see a boat in the year range I worked there if I had my hands on that motor at one point. In the cafeteria we had the engine covers from over the years on the walls being used at light shades, it was pretty cool.

    Pull them plugs first on the next one you do, lube the cylinders. bumping the key like that, plugs in and being stuck. good way to Break the block where starter goes. Good video though

    Ben, Im assuming you know that you roasted your pump impellrd with all that running of the engine with no water supply. Regardless, looks like youve got a real diamond in the rough there. A real crime that it was left out in the weather.

      Oh yeah that impeller was cooked long ago. part two in the works now where we swap it out for a new one!

    I recommend buying the key way to bolt up to the crank pulley. Very easy to break those bolts off and be screwed.

    Dude! Get a break bar on that crank bolt! You’re only using a 3/8 rachet!

    • @bensboats
      @bensboats  17 днів тому

      Don't want to break that bolt! Makes for a real bad day....

    • @keithwendl8328

      @@bensboats I get that, but you can also break the starter bolts out of the bolt using the starter to crank a locked up engine

    I bought a boat one time had the same problem. Do you know what it turned out to be the outdrive was locked up which ties in with a couple ties in with the motor and will not allow the motor to turn over

    • @bensboats
      @bensboats  17 днів тому

      That can happen! Luckily this drive seems ok
