Brotha, being from south Louisiana (living in Colorado) I can tell you, the two happiest days in a man's life are................the day he buys a boat...................and the day he sells said boat, lol. Good luck though, I can't wait to see the content.
That boat looks like it could be a great project to work on. Send those seats and pads out for reupholster. Shop vac and pressure wash the inside and out real good. Clean the engine & carburetor. Depending how close or far the local Bayliner dealer is located, you could most likely get that outboard back together getting the parts through them, along with schematics on reassembly. That trailer alone is probably worth $500. I think that's a good buy, just needs some love and attention.
Boat content usually does really really well. I would love for you to buy a replacement outdrive and redo the interior!
still looking for parts... that might happen
Wow, I feel so much better about my 2005 Bayliner 185! 😂 At least it was given to me. New gas and putting the carburetor float in the right way and it cranked right up. Good luck.
The trailer would be worth 500 in my place, and i bet with putting the outdrive together it makes great content. I have seen a guy rebuild an Russian tank in over a 1000 episodes. He made a lot of money on that series
I'm scouring the depths of ebay trying to find l drive parts as wee speak haha thanks!
Those folding chairs you can find replacements for mostly in white. Seen those bayliners converted for a outboard, if you can strengthen the back end with fiberglass
Lind thats a jewel - the trailer is worth $700 alone. The engine $500 and the boats alone is $400 + part it out. When you have a lemon you turn it into a Arnold Palmer :-)
That trailer and the Bimini top are worth more than you paid for the entire package. I'm a boat guy, and I must admit that I've never seen a motor and drive setup like that, though.
it's a weird setup that for sure. guess i should have done my research
I appreciate humor. Rebuilding outdrive is probably expensive. Perhaps you could locate a used but working unit to use or steal parts from. Guessing the unit was run without oil and/or water pump failed causing bearings to burn up.
As far gone as interior is I don't think this is worth the effort to restore but as others have mentioned engine, trailer, etc. worth what you paid for boat. IF you can find a buyer. @LifeofLind
I was shocked that it even cranked 😂
haha me too! the battery was even still good.
The trailer alone is worth $500. You did just fine. The L drive OMC setup is a different story. Parts are hard to come by and expensive. It is very possible it just needs a reseal. If the gimbal is bad be prepared for some cost.
Dustin, I always enjoy seeing the progress on the projects you choose to undertake. Sadly, the boat appears to be in an irreparable condition. Not all projects turn out as we hope but I know you’ll choose another and be successful. I admire your determination.
Thanks for sharing your projects with us.
Thanks!
Force 120 L drive. I had one in my 1990. Basically a outboard shoved through the rear end of the boat
yeah and it's weird haha
The trailer has gotta be worth a thousand. Not a bad deal.
The trailer is worth the price, and a $500.00 trailer is in demand for a free boat. you might even get $600.00 for it once they try to drag the boat on the black top.
Great project boat. I have faith in you that you can turn this thing around and still make money on it. You just need to wait to sell it in the spring or the beginning of summer. So you have numerous months to work on it and get it all fixed up. The content will be amazing. I hope you know enough about boats that once you get it really running, you will need to run water through it so it won't burn up the engine while running dry. Too bad you already are buying parts for it. I would say see if you could put a completely different engine in it, but then I know even less about boats that you do probably.
Yeah you got properly screwed dustin!😂
lol tell me you watch vice grip garage without telling me you watch vice grip garage..... hahahahahahaha
Why is the Miami Vice theme song playing in my head right now. LOL And don't get me wrong. Cool vid, and I like your style. The vid interests me, b'c I love boats and motors. But man.... what a piece! LOL This Bayliner was a piece of junk when it was brand new. But you might actually be able to do something with it. I mean... you only shelled out $500 scooters for it. The reality... that boat is prolly worth about $62.50. LOL But hey... the parts are worth more than what you paid for it. I am interested to see if that lower unit can be saved, and rebuilt / re-installed. And the re-sealing... If the boat were in better condition, maybe just buy a new out-drive. A rebuilt one. But man... don't throw too much cash into this Beast!
Find a used drive, think $500 was decent, trailer worth that. You can buy new and used seats, and cushions, I think it's still a deal. I mean if ya can toss, $1500 into it, it's still worth it. Used go for $2200 to $2500, running of that model.
I knew it, not a single spider on the boat. can't be good one.
Good deal
It’s about time you got back to work 🤠
haha i know
Wish I was closer. I could help you put the lower back together. It's not hard, after you have fixed one or two. You could turn it into an outboard boat with a little fiberglass work. Good luck.
It's actually easy to put back together,I wouldn't advise welding that,U R probably done with it by the time u get this message
still looking for parts
what is a boat? A large hole in the water where one continually pours money.
Something tells me you are a fan of VGG!
You can probably swap that out for an Alpha 1 gen 2!
Be good in a desert as it won't sink.
Do we have the same wife?🤔😂 Sounds just like something my wife would say🤷🏼♂️
They saw you coming & laughed all the way to the bank 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
Love the mustang side window louvers. Yep, she's a sport model. Kinda like my last girlfriend! I left her on the roadside too!
Nice garden ornament 🙂
How bout you build a pond to put it in 😂
how about put the boat engine in the side by side.
I like your thinking
I feel your pain . My bane was a rotten transom!! 😊😊😊😊
Aw man, don't give up!
Whoops, I just read a bit about the Force L-Drive and it's no bueno. Apparently parts for them are getting rarer and rarer. And that hull cannot be reasonably converted to accept an outboard. Oh well, live & learn!
yeah i didn't do my research before this one lol
Right away when i started the video and i saw that cleetus hat, and i was hell yeah its a good video so i gave you a like
Would be a interesting rebuild project, as you say theres nothing about these on the net.
I would pull the motor and hang an outboard on the back.
The only one that won was the sellers
Be happy it was only $500. I got suckered for $5000 on a pickup that blew up on the 90 mile drive home from the next state over. The guy put 90 weight rearend oil in the motor to quiet the knocks. I paid him cash, and the law in his state has an "as is, buyer beware" law. After replacing the engine for $6000 I found, like your boat, I found it had many other flaws. I got lucky though and it got hit while parked by a drunk driver, and my insurance totaled it, and paid me $7200 for it. So I ended up only losing $4800.
Only $4800 loss...not bad. Dishonest and scammers suck!
$500? Bargain! You’ll get that shipshape in no time 👍
The type of this boat is very excellent and very fast. It needs a 200 horsepower Yamaha engine.
Covert it to an out board. You said the boat was in tack. Shore up the transom and put an out board on it.
Boat, wood surrounded by water in which one pores money into.
Did they pull it up off the bottom of Lake Mead as it dried out?
Lake Mead is dry?🤔
@@fixinoldjunk286 I think it's rising again now but it was WAY WAY down and they were finding all kinds of stuff that hasn't been seen in decades. Sunken boats, dead bodies, barrels of toxic waste...
(that toxic waste one may be an exaggeration 🙂)
Go buy the lower unit
What a shame
Only a failure when you give up.
Jesus you got your hands full
Would you like to test our powerwin LiFePO4 battery?😄 If you are interested in,pls reply me🥰
I'd say it's worth 500
PUT A JET DRIVE OFF A SEADOO.
The infamous L drive. Worst setup ever made
Flat bed the trailer, toss the engine in a golf cart, recycle the metal make money
not a bad option
You got a boat and trailer the motor cranks the transom ain't rotten or cracked hopefully
What do u expect for 500 bucks lmao
