    This tip came in clutch when I replaced my timing chain on my 2012 blade. if you remove the guide as shown, as well as the cams you can change the chain in-frame.

    I don't recommend what I chose to do but I was having issues with my APE and the orange cam chain guard both causing the chain to be abnormally loose on the exhaust cam side and super tight on the intake causing a slow crank to no start condition as well as chain binding. I removed the chain guard completely and threw it in a dumpster fire. No more noise, no more binding, the tensioner works more efficiently now. Not sure what the LT results will be but f*** it some times ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

      I actually had to go back in again and replace 2 bent valves as one valve just refused to seat and kept popping out. I cleaned each valve spotless and the ports made sure the problem valve was TDC for it to seat everything went back in beautifully. I really appreciate these videos and the ability to share our experiences in hopes that the next person will have more to okay with knowledge wise than the person before them.

      @@mrjaybennett80 Thank's for your expierence info. But without the chain guide, how the chain tensioner adjust pressure to the chain? It is chain tensioner bolt directly touches the chain?

    • @mrjaybennett80
      @mrjaybennett80 3 роки тому

      @@belekas2729 Where the APE bolts in that chain guide is there it is the guide on the opposite exhaust side that I removed so the tensioner is making contact with chain guide.

    Can you advise how to properly set a manual cam chain tensioner (APE)? How do you know if it's too loose or too tight?

    • @Oliver-jv5ww
      @Oliver-jv5ww 4 роки тому +1

      a different video i saw had a guy who loosened his all the way, ran the bike in neutral and slowly tightened the bolt until the sound when away

      @@Oliver-jv5ww yes, but youre supposed to be able to view it to make sure its in spec, and thats why manual tensioners are not recommended

      you can adjust these very easily by sound to lose is rattly rattle, to tight and it will make high pitched whirring noises, losen it untill it rattles and tighten it untill the rattle goes away that's it.

    I have same bike with the stock cam chain tensioner 41,000 miles im getting a noise that sounds like timing chain when I hold a certain speed, but when I accelerate a bit it goes away. Any advice?

    • @soldiers303
      @soldiers303 4 роки тому

      When you accelerate it will be under tension which is why it may go quiet. I noticed a chain noise on my bike above 3k rpm and below 5k so think it might be the tensioner. Will be checking it when have time
