Thanks for the video brother! I just got my old 2004 cbr 1000rr back from one of my customers whom I sold it to a couple years back. It stills runs like it did the day I first received it years ago and I’m thinking of doing a refresh on some of the engine parts. I just bought a 2018 zx10R and I can honestly say that it has nothing in that Honda. The power is completely in a different range on this cbr. The Kaw is nice and all but they are night and day when it comes to power bands! I’m a car mechanic by trade but I’m sure with the help of your videos and the knowledge you’re sharing I can just about do anything to this bike. Thank you and have a happy Father’s Day!
Hi your Honda CBR 1000 pp 2004 does it make an oil consumption, thank you for the information, and if you know anything more about the topic tell me thank you for what
Great video! I have a 2008 Limited Edition that I upgraded to a 2012 engine to avoid the oil consumption issue. Now the 2012 is showing zero compression in one cylinder. I know exactly how it needs to be broken down thanks to this video. Appreciate you! 😎
Yes and no... the 08 plus is actually a bit different. All same basic concepts but I believe the cylinders are independent of the cases on 08+ (might be wrong on that) but i do know the transmission comes out when the case is split not out the side like this one. All that being said, I'm betting you have a valve issue on the head of your zero compression cylinder. Unfortunately, I didn't dig into the valves on this engine, so you won't find that here.
@The.Odyssey appreciate the advice. Mechanic is handling the tear-down, and I know it won't be exactly the same, but I have an idea of what it entails. Great guess, I believe it is also a valve issue on the head. It's disappointing since I dropped my bike off three weeks ago so I could attend Biketoberfest over the weekend, and she is still in the shop! Why did I originally take her in? Replace the front bearings!!! Can't make this stuff up. 😎
Absolutely amazing video man. Not many people do this. Thank you for showing your love for this hobby to the world. I have a 03 954rr and this video is gratifying to watch.
Good no nonsense video, with none of that wishy washy music and drama like on other channels. Yeah, those cases are sharp. I had many wounds, and then decided to deburr all the edges.
Your videos have helped me a lot, I have exactly the same problem in my 06 cbr1000rr and it is exactly the same bearing of the same cylinder thank you for sharing.
That's great that I was able to help! Unfortunately I don't have the last videos completed yet to show reassembly. But if you have any questions please let me know. Important points to be sure about is condition of the crank on the journal with the bad bearing and bearing selection. I actually still need to put together content for that as I will be showing the charts in the service manual and how to select proper bearings as there are different sizes. It can be a little confusing. Don't hesitate to reach out if I don't complete the videos before you need them or if you have any questions either way.
@@The.Odyssey I appreciate your response and help, I am at the moment of choosing the new bearings but the information is a little bit confusing, and i don't know if the crankshaft needs be polished.
@@fabianrangel9801 I measured the lobe on the crank and could tell it was out of round so i replaced it. I also put the rod back together and measured it to find the same thing. Crank and rod were replaced. There are letters on the case that are half the puzzle on your main bearing selection. Then there are letters on the crank that are the other half of the main bearing and half the puzzle for the rod bearings. Rods also have letters and numbers I believe it was which are the other half of the puzzle for the rod bearings. The service manual has charts to look up which bearings you need with that info. Even after using this I still checked to make sure my oil clearances for the bearings were in spec with plastigauge. Being that I replaced the crank I also did all the bearings (main and rod) If you need the charts let me know and I will find them. I'm assuming you are already working with the service manual, I couldn't find an 07 manual so I worked out of the 04 and had no issues with that. You do want to be sure that the crank and rod are good, if you spun a bearing there is a good chance that there is damage there, especially if it was ran for any amount of time once it developed the knock.
Awesome bro. Plan to rebuild the engine of my 05 CBR 1000RR to check for spun bearings, might be the culprit for the low oil pressure light going crazy when the engine is already at operating temp. checked the oil level, replaced the oil pressure sensor, checked the oil pump (which was working great), relief valve, harness and everything but still have the red light of death blinking. Thanks man. This will save me a few bucks. Super appreciated your video.
Thank you! Im proud of how this video came out. It was sucking me in while editing. There is more to come... I'm currently working on a video of using plastigauge to check oil spec on the new bearings. After that it will be reassembly of the engine video and then reassembly of the bike and first start. Takes many hours to make the videos flow like this.
Can you upload the video putting the bearing and reassembling the engine again if you have video still? ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m thinking doing my first engine out soon and this will help a lot.
All the HRC manuals for 06, 08, 12 all show crankcase mods for oil drainback, heavy mods too, an oil pump kit that slows down the pump and a different pressure releif spring. The 1000 had oil issues.
@@The.Odyssey These might be the ones, look for the mods around the main bearing webs, the pump kit is not described, but its the only kit hrc still sells for the earlier bikes.
Hello, I would like you to help me with the doubt that I have regarding the timing marks on a cbr 1000rr 2004. On the camshafts it is easy due to the marks in relation to the head, but down there I can't be sure if the "T" mark that lines up with the mark on the cap or whether the line ( I ) right after the "T" should line up. Thanks

I did it!! I got the engine to the same point as u! Now I just need to know what I need to order to put it together. Do I need any gaskets or just gasket maker. Is there stuff u have to always replace when going back together?
You will need a new head gasket and the rest is sealer. I recommend motoseal. Have you downloaded the manual? The manual recommends (actually demands) replacing all the crank and connecting rod bolts. Are you replacing both case halves? This may be troublesome to source unless you find a used set. I wish I had the rest of these videos completed for you, but I have days of editing ahead to have a finished product (or products rather) and just don't have the time right now. Yes, I use the service manuals. I was never able to find an 07, I used the 04 manual. I get a lot from manualslib but I don't see it on there. If you just Google the bike, year and term service manual you can usually find them.

No, 2004 - 2007 CBR 1000 engine is mostly unchanged. Different porting / timing and whatnot. Outside of some different physical parts in place of others they are the same. There is probably an appendix service manual made for the later years as things like the head would be different because of the different porting. Bikes generally run in generations of 3 or 4 years between major changes. Sometimes less time, sometimes more.
I havr the same bike my bike keeps on misfiring i dont know what to do took the bike apart everything works when i put it together again bt after taking a ride it just go back to misfiring then there no power
You can't turn it? Make sure the gear shifting cam and forks are not out of place. Try rotating the cam while holding them in place and see if everything moves. You will have to turn the primary shaft here and there to help.
@Allfreeshop are you pulling it in with the bolts? Get it to fit flush first then add the bolts. My other 2 thoughts are something is not hitting a bearing correctly or there is a spacer in the wrong place or wrong direction on something you may have took apart. For instance on the outside of the plate on the gear shifting cam there is a T bushing that goes 1 way not the other. (Parts diagrams will help check this)
Personally I use semi synthetic, not sure what was used in it before I got it with the spun bearing. Full synthetic will give the best protection, if it was something I was racing I would be running full.
@@The.Odyssey i have sticky clutch and i use 7100 motul does that oil cause that problem with sticky plates? Honda say in manual dont use with molybedum
That shouldn't cause an issue. I'm not sure of you can see the basket through the fill hole in the engine on this bike or not but if you can I would see if there are groves worn in on the basket, that will cause the clutch to drag which is what I think you are describing here. (Clutch doesn't fully disengage and bike creeps in gear with the clutch pulled)
