I like Laurence O’Donnel’s take on this. The text messages saying, “He needs to lead, now!” Are a great reminder that even Trump’s closest advisors and friends never thought he actually could lead
I can imagine President Bartlett's advisors on The West Wing sending the same messages when they felt he wasn't doing enough. But it would be because they DID have faith in him and would want to see him succeed and the right outcome happen.
Of course even as a fictional character, Bartlett was ten times the POTUS Trump was. I'm just saying this is probably a misinterpretation or mischaracterization of the real intent behind those messages - and thats why it'll never amount to anything.
