Traxxas recently released it's new Drag Slash, but the dirty secret is: the RC community has been building them for years. Here's ours. They might not be as fast as the newest Traxxas, but they're just as fun.

I’ve built my drag car right before the drag slash came out and not much is really different besides the transmission that is going to be my upgrade over the winter for sure can’t wait to see what upgrades are going in yours

I went with the Team Associated dr10. Used phantom 3.5 motor, reedy 510r esc, sway bar kit, pro line reactions, phantom 6100 2s. It straight hauls ass!!

Finally me fiance ordered the vxl I cant wait to get it!!!! I'm going on your build!! I have the infraction and typhon 6s hobbywing max 6 esc...very dangerous but this is four wheel drive...I crushed my cousins!!🤣🙏🙏😎 so now I'll do it again with a two wheel bandit!!

Whats the gearing in the car with the XL-5 Titan motor? I know you said stock but stock bandit gearing or stock slash gearing because stock for stock the bandit is a 21 tooth pinion and 83 tooth spur gear and the slash comes stock with a 16 tooth pinion and an 83 tooth spur gear...???

Still stock bandit gearing. The only slash parts on these rigs is the LCG chassis.

If u get better batteries u will run faster. I have some of those zees and they work but there voltage drops off quick. I used them for oval racing and it was fine for novice but once i.moved to sc modified they were junk. Those and gens ace. I had a gens ace puff so bad o couldn't get it out of my sc6.1 battery slot lol. Just couldn't handle the draw of the tekin esc and motor. I run team power products batteries now. He is out of Oklahoma. Look them up there have so much power amd his motors are top.notch as well. Worth the money. Haven't had a problem since
Yeah. I run smart batteries in all mysterious stuff, but for these little guys with brushed systems, they’re decent and cheap.
@@10thScaleGarage oh yeah. I got 5 of them now that I throw in my basher. All my gens ace batteries puffed or dropped a cell but for bashing I buy zeee's all day long. There just not good for consistent power for any kind of competitive racing

It can beat the dr10 out the box cuz the dr10 is geared for 3s out the box not 2s… now put the 2s gearing on the dr10 and that car is dead
Get rid of the cheap battery connection
Were can I get this for $300? $140 for slider $85 wheels and tires traxxas tqi $50 brushed esc and motor $40 clear body $50 . Wheelie bar $25. Looks like $400. For a $100 more ready to run traxxas brushless slash truck. Seems more worth it. Sounds expensive, but $100 difference. Lots of better things included for a $100. Save a hundred on yours if you have some parts already. Good video tho.
Don’t buy a slash roller. Buy a bandit roller and a LCG chassis. Also, if you’re paying $40 for a traxxas titan 12 turn and abs XL5 ESC. You’re paying too much.

Bandit 150, LCG chassis 40, body 40, body mounts 20, wheels and tires 85, total 335 roughly, call it 350 for paint, hex adapters, screws, and a couple odds and ends

Yes I saw the price of lumber. Sucks, but can hold off on the projects. And as for traxxas prices, everything is getting expensive. But most people got 3 stimulus checks. Never seen that in my life before. Oh well everyone has their own opinion.
