    Best video I had seen so far. No unnecessary talking, breathing on the microphone etc. Just very concise and right to the point. Clear and close up video just as it should be.

    Yep, great video. Perfect. Every single step. I'm just gonna say this for all the normal people out there. If you don't have tiny hands it's gonna be a struggle. If you think you had good eye sight, these screws are gonna prove to you whether you were right or wrong. These screws look big in the video....they ain't. You can hardly tell any of them apart, and there is no way I can tell which one has which head. You need a bright light, and a nice, big, CLEAN working space. If one of these screws pops away.....she gone. I got it all put back together...somehow had 3 screws left, plus a pentelope screw that I couldn't get to grab when putting it back together. For me, this is a one shot deal....I screwed up so many screws I'll never be able to do this to this phone again. But....this time it worked, and all thanks to this video. By the way the first video I watched was some lady doing this....She got to the part where you remove the home button and says "now just remove the home button and the camera and you are home free". Like.....WTF. lol. I had a little trouble with the camera ribbon getting it to line up correctly, but seriously...overall the ribbons are not a problem. The screws man. The screws. I got extras left over if anybody need em.

      HAHA ive always tried to fix my kids iphone screens. After 1st attempt i got smart and id draw a ruff diagram of the insides and were all screws went and as i removed screws id place them on theyre spot on the diagram. Works great...until about 3 quarterz of the way to job done the cat comes in to say hi. Before i could react cat jumped onto table...onto paper diagram and tiny screws flew everywhere 🤣 dont think the cats ever run so fast as that day!
      Its funny man,that was years ago and i found i tiny iphone screw stuck between floorboards a few months ago 🤷🏾‍♂️
      Clean,bright,tidy work space helps a lot...and patience i find. Just take my time👍

    This video is fantastic but I only critique would be it understates how difficult it is to pry the old screen out. I used an exacto blade to carefully cut around the edge and finally i could get the triangle pick in there to wiggle more room. Also if you're screen replacement kit came with a waterproof sticky edge, you'll have to watch another video on how to install that too.

    • @GRIBSOFT
      @GRIBSOFT  4 роки тому

      Not disconnecting the battery will not ruin your phone. I have done thousands of repairs never touching the battery because when you do, it sets off a protocol on the logic board to Smc reset. I don’t know why several people who are looking for “gotcha” flaws in my videos keep commenting about something they don’t really understand. Look, we stopped wearing static straps back in 2005, that’s 15 years ago, internal tech designs have changed for safety against shorts.

    • @GRIBSOFT
      @GRIBSOFT  4 роки тому +1

      You couldn’t have reined your phone because of the battery being plugged in. Perhaps the screen you ordered is doa or you bent the pins on it or just need to reseat it.

    • @totallynotaliar9912
      @totallynotaliar9912 4 роки тому

      @@GRIBSOFT First off, I'm not looking for "gotcha flaws," and secondly every other source I'm finding says that that is a very important step. For example, and this is the situation that most nearly matches mine www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/520292/Phone+dead+after+replacing+screen+%3E+didn%27t+disconnect+battery
      "Removing all sources of input power is generally a best practice for working on anything involving electricity.
      That said, in phones, the reason why it is stressed so much is that FPC connectors are especially prone to allowing contact when misaligned. This can send voltages to the wrong lines on a screen or, in more dramatic circumstances, create a short between two pins on the FPC which will likely blow a component somewhere on the line.
      Not having damaged a phone is great but it's one of those things that is never a problem for you until it is. Being the only board-level tech in my area as well as now starting to do mail-in repairs, I see a huge number of devices with blown components due to exactly this issue."
      "It’s very important to always disconnect the battery before disconnecting/reconnecting the screen assembly. The issue is that the LCD connector has pins that have high voltages (i.e. the backlight is ~20V) and ground in very close proximity. When you fumble around trying to line up the connector plug to the receptacle, you can short out the voltage rail and cause damage to the components in the backlight circuit. If you’re lucky, then only a backlight filter is damaged but other times, the entire circuit could be affected. Either way, this type of repair requires micro-soldering and isn’t really a DIY repair."

      You don’t need to disconnect the battery...

    • @randycollens2681

      @@GRIBSOFT removal of VCC power absolutely does NOT set anything off. Not sure where you read that, but that’s incorrect.
