Most complications are unnecessary toys, not that there's anything wrong with that. To me, a power reserve indicator is incrementally more interesting and useful than moon phase windows, for example (which, with a few exceptions, seem overused and a bit tacky).
You may have missed the most overrated: the goddamn Daytona. An absolute sales flop at the time of its release, objectively just a worse Speedmaster (minus perhaps the automatic winding mechanism, and if that really matters to you Omega do make auto Speedmasters) and the price inflation alone should speak volumes as to how overrated it is. I do LIKE the Daytona, I think it’s good looking and well made, but it’s not worth Patek/AP prices for one.
I never thought I'd like the F-91W, or any digital watch for that matter. I only bought one during COVID when I was working at home, without a shirt on because Phoenix gets hot, and I felt weird wearing a nicer watch. I fell in love with it. So simple. So cheap. So unpretentious. It tells the time. It tells the day. It tells the date. The beep every hour helped me keep track of time. The timer helped me with my French press, among other things. I'd wear it to sleep as it weighs nothing. I'd use the alarm so I could leave the phone away from my bed and stop looking at it before sleeping. I can swim with it. I play volleyball with it. I rock climb with is. I can use it camping. Its just so versatile. Obama wore it. Osama wore it. Everyone can wear it. I never thought I'd like a digital watch, but now I love it.
Exact same feelings bro. Its so versatile and tough that I go out of my way to be rough with it. So far I've only managed to kill the beep by taking it into the hot tub, then the sauna, then the steam room, then the swimming pool. I was even pressing the buttons underwater haha
Just wait till you get into the G-Shock squares. They're the F-91W on steroids. They're tough, better protected crystal, and more features and about a million different models to choose from. You can spend as little as $45 or as much as $4000 on one. And they're easy and fun to mod!
I live in a world where people don't care about watches, wouldn't know that the Moonwatch went to the moon, and still (I think objectively) find it beautiful. It is cool too, independent of where it's been, that has been so rigorously tested for durability and might easily brave a hike through the mountains if a trip to the moon isn't on the schedule.
The engeneering is incredibly - today not so difficult anymore. The prices have gone insane. A little bit like diamonds - there are plenty of them around but are artificially held back.
I love that it's remained (visually) largely unchanged through the years. I remember seeing them in pictures growing up in the seventies and thinking 'that's a cool watch'. The Speedmaster design is a genuine classic that looks amazing even through the changing lens of fashion throuought the decades. I still can't quite believe that I eventually got to own one. I wish I could send it back through time to my younger self!
@@CHMichael I picked up a second hand 1861 Speedy about a year ago when prices were slightly slumped as people waited for the release of the 3861. With the new price point of the 3861, it seems to have dragged the Speedy prices even higher.
It’s a nice steel watch. It’s not hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars nice, especially compared to their better watches like their grand complications.
Haha yes, me and my mates at school used to do this in the 80s :-) Also, we'd see who could start and stop the stopwatch on the lowest number. Brilliant time we had doing that :-)
The Casio calculator watch that was featured in Back To The Future. Casio CA53W-1 I put a black canvas strap on it. I wear it if I want to hide and blend in. It works well with the hipster look with the Flannel shirt. It's awesome. It's the Toyota Hilux of Casio watches just like in the BTTF movie.
The power reserve on the dial has to be one of my absolute favorite things in all of the watch world. But im a fan of things being asymmetrical and offset
I actually love my Snowflake BECAUSE of the power reserve. Gives it something to catch the eye, and knowing the power level is a practical use. Fair point about the size though. - Sincerely, a typical rabid GS fan boy
Agreed. It even adds to the "snow" feeling for me, by looking like it's cutting through said snow. I think it'd be a little too bland without it. I also think it looks much better in person than it does in pictures.
It was adding another moving detail, with textures on the watch. What I dont like, is that steel versions of any GS seems to be more expensive than the snowflake! Why?
Agreed, as someone with a smallish wrist, I actually love the size too!! Amazing presence and visibility of the dial pattern... I actually (shock) prefer to the birch
It's really not that practical to have a power gauge on the front of an automatic watch. If it's running on your wrist it's not stopping, if it's off your wrist it's not a burden to look at a gauge on the back.
I personally really really like the snowflake. It’s a little cumbersome but the finishing is all immaculate, the spring drive movement is a marvel of modern watch making, and personally I like the look of the power reserve indicator. It might just be because the snowflake was the first GS I was introduced to, but to me it is absolutely gorgeous, and definitely a watch I see in my collection in the future!
I agree with you. I actually like the power reserve indicator ans it breaking the symmetry of the dial. Looking the different texture for the power reserve further enhanced the look
I actually love the power reserve indicator on my Snowflake, hence why I just bought the SBGE275, both watches are absolutely gorgeous . I wear them both more frequently than my Sky-dweller. Both Grand-Seiko dials are simply amazing and looked at every minute :-)
F-91W stands on its own because it was proven to stand against the test of time. It sets the standards what a watch should be, the bare minimum form of wrist watches. Kids wear them, adults wear them, rich or poor they all probably had worn them at some point in their lives, probably at least seen one on someone else's wrist, its unisex, and the design stay the same for years yet people still buy them. A businessman, an office worker, a soldier, an elementary schooler, plumber, teachers, a janitor, the President, they all fit wearing an F-91W. It's no luxury watch, but it is the absolute, bar minimum what every human being should at least have on their wrists as a timekeeper. (Get a Timex Easy Reader if you want dials probably, if you really just can't stand a digital watch.) Until today, there are still watches out there, that might cost ten times the F-91W, and they still manage to have some form weakness, deficiencies in their design be it waterproofing, comfort, legibility, timekeeping, toughness, in any one of those areas. Yet this 10$ plastic watch ticks all the boxes. It does what a wristwatch should do, at a very affordable price. F-91W doesn't discriminate its wearer, designed in modesty, humble and simple silhouette, where it has everything what everyone deserves from a wristwatch. It's not overrated. Gshocks and casioak are probably overrated, but this particular model is far from overrated. They are rightly rated, because of how it had been part of everyone's lives even if they didn't own one. Honestly disagree with the watch being looked through a rose tinted glasses, take of the glasses and it is still being sold, and people are still rocking them as a daily driver in present time.
F-91W will always be my recommendation for people looking to purchase a watch or where to start. Because first you have to discover if wearing a watch is even comfortable and practical for a person. You can't just buy a 60 gram diver and it feels at home. The F-91W is the only watch you'd ever have to buy, or the watch that confirms your interest and further solidify exploring the world we all love. WATCHES.
I bought a F91W one as a laugh with some spare vouchers as a nod to my late dad who wore one. I wasn't expecting to ever really wear it, but found that it was by far my most worn watch at home during these lockdowns. And maybe thats it - When all you need is a perfect functional item, there's not a lot more you can want than the F91w. It's more accurate than any Rolex, lighter than any mechanical watch, has a more accurate stopwatch than a Daytona, thinner than a Calatrava, doesn't need a watch winder, has the same crystal as the Moonwatch, the light will work long after lume has died and is cheaper than 2 cups of coffee. It's as iconic as a Sub, a Royal Oak or Navitimer. Anything else is just mechanical jewelry. Can't overrate that...
@@DMBVR4 Are there much better watches? Definitely. Is there a lot of "hype" about this watch? Maybe. But, it does have a deserved heritage/history being 34 years old and one of the most popular watches of all time. But, for £10 /$10, at least it's not got an inflated price just because of the hype. It's still an honest basic watch that does what it's supposed to.
To name these three watches, especially the Moonwatch (I would have understood with the Moonswatch) but not to include either the Daytona or the Submariner in the list is harshly ridiculous.
Not to mention the patek 5711, AP royal oak, and RM watches a whole. No those watches are fine. The real problem is with a $10 watch casio or the moonwatch that you can easily buy at retail or cheaper on the second hand market.
"we can all agree that rolex as a whole is overrated" should have covered that. They weren't talking about the obvious choices cause they wanted to have a discussion
I have a reasonable watch collection, and the Snowflake is probably my favourite. It is understated, elegant, excellent build quality with mesmerising second hand movement and keeps perfect time, the materials used are very durable and do not mark easily. The size is great due to me having 7" wrist. I have some more expensive watches than the Snowflake and in my opinion none best it.
I still have my f-91w from when i was 10. its a bit small now but i changed the strap that had rotted and threw a new battery in it and it fired right up and is working away
Just putting it out there, I'd pay up to £600 for a machined steel Casio with super thick glass and a steel bracelet. The only reason I got an "expensive" watch was I hated the fact my Casio's were guaranteed to either break or tarnish within 6 months of purchase. And no, I don't want a G-Shock, never fancied having a 3 bed flat on my wrist.
The low weight from the titanium case is part of the reason it's nickname is the snowflake. It's part of characters of the watch, light as a snowflake.
If you showed me the Nautilus and the Royal Oak and ask me which was designed first in a desperate last-minute overnight session as a final grasp for relevancy, and then asked me which one was designed to be a refinement of and competitor to the first, I would NOT guess correctly. The Nautilus looks like a caffeine-fueled first draft of a watch and I remain baffled by its status.
Might be unpopular but in my opinion the Royal Oak design is quite ugly and actually looks a bit cheap with the attention seeking screws. Of course the quality of execution is excellent, I'm just talking about the design itself.
The F-91W has to be the most iconic wrist watch of all time. Those 10 dollars/pound are money well spent no matter who or where you are. I will never forget my first one I got for christmas at the age of six. I'm sure many of you here feel the same way about it. It will always have a special place in our hearts
When you live in a 3rd world country F-91W is a big deal. As a kid I had a knock off copy, if you can imagine that. Getting an actual Casio watch almost brought me to tears, finaly I had a real deal, bought with my own money. Even as a child I knew that ones I had were fake. Real F-91W, as cheap and light as it is, is a real deal.
Seriously? In 2nd world country buying a real casio isn't a big deal, especially when it comes to cheap ones as F-91W. 76 PLN wasn't a high price for it and those sold out fast on the site.
1. I like the power reserve on the dial of my snowflake. It's a very useful thing to know. 2. They're too big if they're on the bracelet. But if you put them on leather straps, they don't feel that way. 3. Too light? No. It's just right. It's the weight of a 38mm watch with the size of a larger one.
These segments have slowly become one of my favorite shower "podcast". Considering I was not a fan of the format and only used to come for stunning visuals and smart snarky humor, I'd say you guys are hitting your stride. Job well done. 👏
The thing with Casio F91W and many other Casios is their ability to bring back memories of childhood for us grown ups and you can't put a price on that
@Leader Leads Chats bro I'm not talking about history...if you're watch enthusiast you should probably know which is the most well known brand in the world...
@Leader Leads Chats I hope you know I was being sarcastic, Casio absolutely smashes Timex in terms of popularity and recognition. I can bet that even G shock is more recognisable than Timex has ever been
How about overrated... Rolex for one and their entirely overpriced Daytona? Or the fact that submariners have went up in price by tenfold over the past 30 years? I paid $2,500 for my two-tone in 1987. And they're how much now?
The power reserve on the GS is what makes this watch stand out from all other watches. 41mm is "small" om my wrist and being light is really nice. This is such a underrated watch!
How, on EARTH, could the Alpinest be over-rated? It is, most importantly, one of the FEW Seiko watches that they do not screw up in manufacture, it always does what it is supposed to do, and it is reasonably affordable for most people (and has history as well!) Then, you over-rate the freaking $15 CASIO??? Sorry, all that needs to do is work- AT ALL- to not be over-rated. I'm thinking you guys COMPLETELY misnamed this video. How about "Watches that get WAAAAAAY too much attention/fanfare/print etc.". That is much more apropos.
I think it’s pretty funny they mentioned the Alpinist as an overrated watch as it is one of the only modern Seikos that isn’t ridiculously huge and doesn’t follow the same design theme that the rest do
I like the power reserve. It's convenient to know how much juice is left in the tank without having to flip the watch over. Plus, I tend like watches with a small detail that breaks the dial's symmetry. I'm probably in the minority because I also prefer the Air King 11690 for its "5" instead "05".
I love my SARB017. It was my first mechanical watch, but I do agree I'm not a fan of the newer Alpinist especailly at the MSRP. I believe I got mine for $350 years ago,
The alpinist i think looks even better in person than what you see online. I don't like the green either, but there's a few of them that are beautiful. I'd say it's hardly overrated. Hard to go wrong with it as your first quality watch. And i do know overrated, i own a PSR xD
I can second that. For some reason it doesn't seem to photograph well and looks 'toyish' (especially in Seiko product photos), however in person it's a different story. Out of my watches, the SARB017 still gets the most complements.
Come on. For the price, moonwatch remains quite a watch. Great and beautiful movement. Huge versatility. Can wear it with so many different straps. Also like the time travel effect you have as soon as you see it. Not just because of the moon story, but also for the 60s in general. It is a classic.
F-91W is a tremendous lot of watch if you think about, specially in the social and historical context. The balance of functions and price still makes it outstanding. P.S. That applies to other smaller and inexpensive digital Casios like the F-105 and W-59, naturally.
It's terrible and the most overrated watch on the planet. It has no character and you might as well just use your phone at that point. There's no craftsmanship and no soul, nothing that makes it any better than a smart watch.
@@Biriadan "you might as well just use your phone" Checking the time on your phone is significantly more conspicuous than checking your watch. This was one of the big benefits wrist watches had over pocket watches back in the day and it remains true today. "There's no craftsmanship and no soul" It's a tool. It does what it's intended to do and gets out of the way. "nothing that makes it any better than a smart watch" It's $15, weighs nothing and lasts forever on a single battery without any further attention.
Their newest White Birch Spring Drive (SLGA009) is perfect in just about every way which made me buy it right away. One other thing they fixed with this watch is actually going with a more common lug width of 22mm as opposed to the 21mm on their 4 seasons collection. My only gripe now is the lack of tapering and micro-adjustment on the bracelet, but I much prefer these watches on a strap anyway!
Alpinist is not terribly overrated in my opinion. Looks great in person, has a fairly unique design, super comfortable, and 200m of water resistance. Not too shabby.
You will still find only Omega Speedmasters on the wrists of astronauts when they're on an EVA (floating around in space in marshmallow suits). It's still the only watch approved for EVA's. The reason it's not automatic is because of the lack of gravity in space makes the automatic winding unreliable.
So apparently, Russian pen makers couldn't figure out how to make these upsidedown pens. So there was a big question of how they would write in space. They used pencils.
The Speedmaster needs another big achievement. I am not sure the new generation realize how big it was to go to the moon. Omega should definitely try to get involved in the next big cosmic adventure. Maybe to Mars or anywhere further than the moon.
There's no real reason to take an expensive, mechanical watch to space anymore, when you can just wear a g-shock, that does everything better and more reliable
OMG!! "Mini stainless steel maxi-pad" may be the greatest thing I have ever heard 🤣🤣🤣 You succinctly captured that feeling I have had about the Nautilus but could never quite put into words. Do the Royal Oak next!
I like the power reserve on the snowflake. Makes it different and interesting. But I tend to agree with your choices. Especially the moon watch. Was looking at one and ended up with the aqua terra instead. I wanted an automatic
It’s not overrated. It’s too affordable to be overrated. Overrated to me is $5k that to most people looks exactly like $300, overrated is buying forced scarcity.
The watch that went to The Moon, a great watch to wear at places where there is no water. Having said that, I think it looks way better than a few other overrated watches out there and it is easily available.
If there was an automatic version, I would be on the same page. I don't think it's overrated, but it's not as great as Omega would like you to believe.
One overrated thing is people wanting smaller watches, they think the diameter is the problem when it really is the lug to lug and male end links that is their real issue. For me it would be the snowflake in 42 with Seiko compact lugs, female end links and no power reserve indicator. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I am wearing and appreciating my Snowflake today. I had considered buying the updated White Birch instead, mainly for the larger power reserve. But I chose the Snowflake due to its rarer titanium construction, its more graceful hands, its frontal power reserve indicator, and its significance in Seiko history. It also cost a lot less. It was the watch that began my collection, and I have no regret with it.
Another good video, boys. I came late to the watch party (2019). Prior to that I wore one watch almost exclusively--a black steel tactical watch. However, my Grail Watch was the Speedy. I called it my Dream Watch before I learned all these watch terms (GADA, beater, Safe Queen, etc.). It was the one watch I truly loved. The first time I saw one was in the early 90s. A warrant officer was buying one in the Army Post Exchange, while I was buying a Casio G-Shock. For some reason, lots of helicopter pilots wore the Speedy and I thought it was because they needed to. Turns out, it was just cool. Fast forward nearly 30 years later and I finally picked up an 1863 Sapphire Sandwich when I learned they were being discontinued in late 2020. It the best watch in my very, very small collection. As far as overhyped, I guess don't watch enough YT videos or read enough online articles. I don't think that it is, even though it is a very fine watch. I am so glad I decided to buy one, even though it is nearly 20-times the cost of my other watch. I simply love it.
Grand Seiko and Rolex have the same problem for me, excellent manufacturers of reliable movements, but I find their aesthetics bland and forgettable. I adore Seiko, but they could be an awful lot more daring than they are with case designs on the Grand Seikos. And the watch world just needs to take a Rolex detox in general. It's like a cult these days.
When they do daring, people hate it. When they stick to the fundamentals in sizing and proportions, people call them bland. With that said, what other manufacturer or designer makes watches that look like Grand Seiko, other than Seiko? Objectively the 44GS, 62GS, and all the Evolution 9 cases, the different dials, are all unique in the watch world.
I would say the F-91 is overrated because for just little more money you get Casios with better legibility and backlight, higher water resistance or more functions. In case of the Casio w800H all of it!
@@ahigo are you sure it's not a fake? I actually bought one F-91 on ebay that turned out the be a fake. Couldn't believe they are doing it. So, I have no experience with it. My W-217H does pretty well.
F-91W isn't even the best cheap Casio. W-59 has better water resist and F-105W has better backlight. W-217H has a bigger better screen. And W800H. I still love my F-91W anyway.
This is why we should all listen to snarky educated British guys more. They can articulate themselves WITHOUT having to curse 50 times in every line they say and are a pleasure to listen to.
SARB017 Alpinist is not overrated at all. The Prospex version is absolutely awful. Between the cyclops, thicker case, and that horrendous Prospex logo they ruined it. Then again, the Prospex lines have basically ruined Seiko as a brand in general so...
Furlan marri is a scam and I never understood how they could get their GPHG award. Look at Corniche watches, their chrono has been around for years and doesnt kind of look the same, as the Dan Henry, it IS the same. Furlan just went to the same factory and ordered the same product with their name on it.
The big issue with the Casio is that if you replace the battery you WILL lose the water tightness. That's apparently an issue with metal on resin cases. That's why my first Casio was a radio-controlled solar G-Shock. Now THAT is a cool watch. I got it for under $100, which is more than the F91-W, but is the natural evolution of the technology, eliminating the one flaw in a quartz watch.
Thousands of watch buyers disagree with you guys about the Seiko Alpinist. I want one. Lovely, uncluttered dial, looks like business, not fun, but very handsome in the process. You're right most of the time, but, oh well, no one's perfect.
I own a Snowflake and I disagree that it's too big - size is spot on for me, and I'm not massive. I'm indifferent to the power reserve. Totally agree that it's too light, though; I've also bought a White Birch and it's a perfect weight - the steel looks better than the titanium as well as having a nice heft to it.
The point is that the Speedmaster is a very, very beautiful watch! It is high quality, reliable and and has unique design! Even without the Moon story it will be in the league of Breitling Navitimer and Heuer Monaco.
You said it best, People like a watch they can't get a hold of. I think Hype has ruined watch collecting for many people, including me, I am now more focused on the unique obscure brands and watches that no one loves :D
I think that's part of the fun, though. I'm not in the mix for a Speedmaster or any Rolex anyway (I have too many children to be able to afford one with a good conscience), but how cool is it to have an Orient Kamasu on your wrist instead of an Apple Watch? Not that Orient is THAT obscure, but how many normie non-watch people have one?
Wait, is titanium a somehow a con on watches? In my collection I mostly have resin watches and titanium watches. The few stainless I have don't see much wrist time because of how heavy they are.
I loved this. If there's one thing the watch community needs it's more humour. I think the Alpanist is great because it's a cool looking tool/sports/dress watch that comes with a sense of adventure - but I enjoyed your critique
I know this was done with tongue firmly in cheek, but it did inform me of the existence of Furlan Maris. I love the watch but sadly its currently sold out. Whole-hearted thanks for video!
Great great video. Especially about the Furlae Marri. The Dan Henri is at least equal in looks and quallity. And the founder has a better, more interesting story than the Furlae Marri. Only thing that lacks is the advertisement that Furlae Marri did.... That was brilliant were a lot of people fell for. Furlae Marri... what a brand name... It remins me of names like MVMT or Fillipo ..etti.... About the Snowflake you're right! Love GS, but exactly these 3 point stopped me from buying one.
My biggest bug with the Snowflake is the dial isn't hand carved, rather it is pressed molded. So all are exactly alike despite looking like they were hand carved. I actually like the power resurve on the front. A bit like how a car bonnet can have airflow slots cut out to improve cooling.
F91W.During my time in the UK military, and on active service, they were the watch of choice on patrols, one on and one in reserve in your pack.Perfect time keeping and uncomplicated functions was the game changer.Still wear mine .
Hey Baldassarre, you have all my respect, but if you want interesting conversations around watches, take well note of what these people are doing and forget boring partners like Kevin O’Leary.
3 things you should know before you buy a Grand Seiko from 3 years ago. It was your video that made me purchase a Grand Seiko and now it is overrated 🙄🇮🇪🍀
Hilarious ... well done lads! Outstanding quotes: "They're all too big" "... other than the power reserve I don't think you've got a leg to stand on" 🤣
The Grand Seiko Spring Drive in my opinion is one of the finest watches ever made. The only improvement could be with the bracelet. I have put mine on a beautiful strap, now it’s perfect. By the way I love the power reserve on the dial. Lol
I like the snowflake. I was thinking of buying one as my first luxury watch. I'm ABSOLUTELY NOT buying a Rolex. Rolexes are the Harley Davidsons of the watch world, DON'T TELL ME TO BUY ONE.
Absolutely love my GS snowflake, it takes my breath away over my blusey. Even just watching the pwr res go full when i manually wind it. The smooth sweeping hand just pauses me when life gets abit rushed along with the amazing dial. Its a watch that brings so much self joy.

It's the Toyota Hilux of Casio watches just like in the BTTF movie.
Best game ever!
Omg, I thought it was just me who did this!..... then the next level..... stopping on consecutive seconds exactly......
It entertained me for hours as a child.
I like the size because the watch is all about the dial and I ain't complaining about a bigger dial!
@@hriship4602 and it makes it look like it has swept the snow away.
I actually love the power reserve indicator on my Snowflake, hence why I just bought the SBGE275, both watches are absolutely gorgeous . I wear them both more frequently than my Sky-dweller. Both Grand-Seiko dials are simply amazing and looked at every minute :-)
+1 on the location of the power reserve, it helps balance the date window and it's nice to see it working too.
@@salilgupta9427 Poetic.
(Get a Timex Easy Reader if you want dials probably, if you really just can't stand a digital watch.)
Until today, there are still watches out there, that might cost ten times the F-91W, and they still manage to have some form weakness, deficiencies in their design be it waterproofing, comfort, legibility, timekeeping, toughness, in any one of those areas.
(BTW just get the one with Electroluminescence if you can, the F91W LED light is actually really unusable at dawn/dusk, its legible at night though.)
It's the Volkswagen Bug of watches
F-91W will always be my recommendation for people looking to purchase a watch or where to start. Because first you have to discover if wearing a watch is even comfortable and practical for a person. You can't just buy a 60 gram diver and it feels at home. The F-91W is the only watch you'd ever have to buy, or the watch that confirms your interest and further solidify exploring the world we all love. WATCHES.
Michael Schumacher used to glue one on his F1 car steering wheel.
The upgrade to the A700 is well worth it.
Can't overrate that...
hear hear
Haha so well said 👏
You can easily overrate that when you consider just about any digital watch accomplishes all of these things without any buzz whatsoever.
The light on the F91W is pretty weedy, in all fairness. I consider it over-rated on that basis alone, not to say it's a bad watch though.
To name these three watches, especially the Moonwatch (I would have understood with the Moonswatch) but not to include either the Daytona or the Submariner in the list is harshly ridiculous.
Totally
Not to mention the patek 5711, AP royal oak, and RM watches a whole. No those watches are fine. The real problem is with a $10 watch casio or the moonwatch that you can easily buy at retail or cheaper on the second hand market.
"we can all agree that rolex as a whole is overrated" should have covered that. They weren't talking about the obvious choices cause they wanted to have a discussion
The Sub is overexposed but I wouldn't call it overrated; it is a truly great watch.
@@matthewhall6288
It’s a great 6K watch.
Casio should run an advertising campaign that simply says “the Casio F-91W……… better than a Hublot”
How about the overrated releases from Rolex this year?
The F-91W is a beast, wore it all through bootcamp
Was my daily for 3 years and the one I bought in basic is still working only a couple seconds off 4 years later.

@@brianfowler2795 you're mountain biking the wrong way, apparently.
@@brianfowler2795 malfunctions? What do you mean
I might be weird, but I actually like the power reserve. Idk why. Don’t like the weight though. The size didn’t really bother me.
The low weight from the titanium case is part of the reason it's nickname is the snowflake. It's part of characters of the watch, light as a snowflake.
@@Biriadan I get the purpose, I just like to feel like I have a watch on. Especially when paying a premium.
Agreed. The Royal Oak is so much more refined. When Tom called the Nautilus a maxi-pad, I almost burst out laughing. It's funny because it's true.

Yes, it ridiculous to call it overrated. The quality/price ratio is better than most other watches.
Still got mine running still back from the day.

@Leader Leads Chats I hope you know I was being sarcastic, Casio absolutely smashes Timex in terms of popularity and recognition. I can bet that even G shock is more recognisable than Timex has ever been
@Leader Leads Chats that made no sense
F-91 isn't overrated but everyone loves that
How about overrated...
F91W has been called ‘god tier’ by some ;)
I'd rather day the extra for a G-Shock Square.
I love my Sarb 017. First watch I bought!
I think it’s pretty funny they mentioned the Alpinist as an overrated watch as it is one of the only modern Seikos that isn’t ridiculously huge and doesn’t follow the same design theme that the rest do
LEAVE MY F91W ALONE!
I like the power reserve. It's convenient to know how much juice is left in the tank without having to flip the watch over.
Plus, I tend like watches with a small detail that breaks the dial's symmetry. I'm probably in the minority because I also prefer the Air King 11690 for its "5" instead "05".
putting the F91W in this category is a sin.
.... Wait... The speedmaster went to the moon...?
I love my SARB017. It was my first mechanical watch, but I do agree I'm not a fan of the newer Alpinist especailly at the MSRP. I believe I got mine for $350 years ago,
My Dad gave me his a couple years ago for Christmas. Fell down the Seiko rabbit hole immediately and haven't looked back
same! still have mine, wear it all the time in the summer. class!
My F91W is strapped onto my school bag and is used exclusively as my test/exam watch where we're not allowed to wear smartwatches.
Thousands for a steel watch with plain black dial? Hardly a bargain, Orient and Seiko execute a comparable for a few hundred bucks.

Checking the time on your phone is significantly more conspicuous than checking your watch. This was one of the big benefits wrist watches had over pocket watches back in the day and it remains true today.
"There's no craftsmanship and no soul"
It's a tool. It does what it's intended to do and gets out of the way.
"nothing that makes it any better than a smart watch"
It's $15, weighs nothing and lasts forever on a single battery without any further attention.
The Casio F-91W was just dream for me when I was a kid...20 years later I bought myself one to fill that void. 😅
How about a Tiffany blue F-91W?
I would wear that.
Not even joking.
Regarding the Grand Seiko.... "You don't think it's too big?" "Noooooo, in relation to what?" "Eh, you're wrist" hahahaha 100% Agree
As a GS fanboy I’d say that the Snowflake is overrated. But so are most “iconic” watches. The Submariner, the speedy, etc. probably all overrated.
That F-91W keeps better time that any Rolex out there so kick rocks
You will still find only Omega Speedmasters on the wrists of astronauts when they're on an EVA (floating around in space in marshmallow suits). It's still the only watch approved for EVA's. The reason it's not automatic is because of the lack of gravity in space makes the automatic winding unreliable.
Automatic in space works pretty much the same because it uses inertion of your hand.
So apparently, Russian pen makers couldn't figure out how to make these upsidedown pens. So there was a big question of how they would write in space. They used pencils.
The alpinist was a really good first watch, before they took it off the market and rereleased it for way too much money
The Speedmaster needs another big achievement. I am not sure the new generation realize how big it was to go to the moon. Omega should definitely try to get involved in the next big cosmic adventure. Maybe to Mars or anywhere further than the moon.
I’ve got an easy one: The first watch fired into the sun.
You could have had an automatic Speedy...
I’m watching this… while wearing my F-91. Not sure if I’m upset or tickled that it’s over rated. 🤣
It’s not overrated. It’s too affordable to be overrated. Overrated to me is $5k that to most people looks exactly like $300, overrated is buying forced scarcity.
Bought both my kids (ages 9 and 7) an F-91W for Christmas and they absolutely love them. I think they truly are a timeless watch.
Never understood the phrase "timeless watch".

@@2000bhoy they’re both timeless at the moment, the batteries have gone 🤣
The watch that went to The Moon, a great watch to wear at places where there is no water.
Having said that, I think it looks way better than a few other overrated watches out there and it is easily available.
If there was an automatic version, I would be on the same page. I don't think it's overrated, but it's not as great as Omega would like you to believe.
The new one is rated to 50m and that's plenty enough for most people.
One overrated thing is people wanting smaller watches, they think the diameter is the problem when it really is the lug to lug and male end links that is their real issue. For me it would be the snowflake in 42 with Seiko compact lugs, female end links and no power reserve indicator. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
It’s also about how dainty men’s wrists are now
I am wearing and appreciating my Snowflake today.
I love my GS for lightweight titanium. I find power reserve very useful and appreciate it being a unique GS signature.
yeah, don't know why people think weight = quality. weight juts means it's heavy lol
I love my front door. I love a simple, reasonable length, action movie. I love my F-91W.
Agree! I wear mine all the time and it's great!
Not to mention it gains more time per day than my mechanical watches. That always drives me crazy.

Hey, what do you think of the ETA movements? Great video :)
F-91W isn't even the best cheap Casio. W-59 has better water resist and F-105W has better backlight.
W-217H has a bigger better screen. And W800H.

This is why we should all listen to snarky educated British guys more. They can articulate themselves WITHOUT having to curse 50 times in every line they say and are a pleasure to listen to.
Woooooooww, that's a dangerous line to thread with the f91w. It's not just a "front door".
SARB017 Alpinist is not overrated at all. The Prospex version is absolutely awful. Between the cyclops, thicker case, and that horrendous Prospex logo they ruined it. Then again, the Prospex lines have basically ruined Seiko as a brand in general so...
Exactly
Those watches are disposable. Once the battery goes bad, just buy a new watch.
F91W is the only watch the modern man needs.
