I tested this video on a mobile device and the sound is aweful! my voice is nonexistent, however it works on a desktop...Weird! ... I apologise for the bad sound, the issue was with the microphone which I stopped using after this video. However The sound in this video becomes clear after 7:35...the mic I was using until then had developed a break in the cable. The new mic I got instead for video recording is the 'Zoom H2n' ua-cam.com/video/EamA_c-bGVU/v-deo.html
It's interesting, I'm listening on a surround system and at first your voice is sort of behind me, then when you move the broken microphone the wire must reconnect and you go to the front of the room. With the microphones connected to the mixer the sound is great, I can hear the clock ticking like it's in my room.
That's interesting! I wonder how the break in the wire caused me to go to the rear speakers. I watched this on a mobile device once and heard absolutely nothing, just garbles with no voice what so ever. . No idea what happened with the sound on this one haha.
Hi there, how is your mixer in 2020? I mean, Yamaha MG06x, is it still working well? do you think it's worth buying in 2020? and will you please tell me how to connect this mixer to windows PC without audio interface
I've since donated this mixer to a podcast last year, but it was working perfectly while I had it, I would recommend it however there is a USB version of it. The reason why I donated this and got myself another was because I needed more inputs. Otherwise this would have been just fine.
Nice little mixer. I've had a couple of the Tapco Mix 100 mixers which are good little mixers, but your Yamaha MGO6X has a few features that they don't have like on board FX. One little tip, it's a good idea to turn the power to everything off before plugging/unplugging leads/devices. With an audio/mixing desk setup the usual procedure when powering down is to turn off the amplifier first, then the mixer, then anything connected like PC's and sound source's. You do the reverse when powering up. mics should be turned on/off using the SW on the body of the mic when not in use. This saves blowing your amp or speakers or whatever. EG if a mic gets knocked over, whilst the amp is at high volume, it also saves hearing the OS "Goodbye" tune of PC,s at full bore. Condenser mics are great, they're a lot more sensitive, good for picking up speech say, from a distance, so you don't have a mic right near the person is speaking. As regards the equaliser section - or tone controls, mixers, mostly follow a convention, with the lower frequency controls at the bottom, with Mid/HF (middle and high frequency) controls at the top. The HF knob is good for getting rid of hiss. It may be worth doing some reading up about equalisers and how they work to get the most out of your mixer. There are several types of EQ; it's quite an art to use them well. Thanks for the video.
MsMadLemon, Nice demo, Thanks for sharing. Few things unclear to me : 1. How you got the MG06 's mixed audio into the video.2. Which camera is used, any special connection needed for canon camera to get the audio input. Thanks,
Thanks! I don't kow about Canon cameras, i'm assuming it's the same, but I have a Nikon Camera and I lowered the sensitivity of the Mic input from the camera's menu and connected the output of the MG06 to this mic input.
Those mini mixers are very usefull to add more inputs into the core of a vintage audio setup. I have a Behringer Xenyx Q502 USB and help me a lot when I have to record something.
Actually I was actually looking at the Behringer one, I deicded to go for non USB since I already have the Focusrite Scarlett. They are indeed useful!, this mixer has made things easier to manage!
l can definitely tell there's a short or break in the cable on the mic with the wind screen. Listening in mono, the voice cancels out, so it seems like the left and right channels are inverted. My guess is the shield is broken. As an interesting side effect, it lets me hear your music uninterrupted. I assume is an original composition, and I dig it a lot. Also, HPF = high pass filter. It cuts frequencies below 80hz, like low rumble caused by vibrations. To minimize hum from plugging the mixer directly to the camera, you could get an adapter from 1/4" to 1/8" with an inline pad, which converts line signals to mic level.
Ahaa of course, HPF = High pass filter! Thanks! ... Yes It sounds like the shield is broken as you say, annoying when you find out after filming the entire thing! At least now I have better mics to record with! And yes the music is my own composition, at least I have the freedom now to use it, and thank you, i'm glad you like it :o)
Mic shielding in balanced trs or xlr is to block emi/rfi. The wishy washy sound in your vid is an encoding issue or sample rate mismatch. You need to check your audio settings and vid settings match before recording. If they do then check again in post that your sample rate and bit depth are the same as your recorded settings before printing the clip. Get a metal stereo bar for your mics, theyre pretty cheap. Not sure if you were going for xy or ortf for your stereo micing but do a read up on those too if youre interested.
Good review thanks! Looks like fun, I have the AG 03 and it's 5 volt USB is that one a 12 volt AC converter adapter? This is my 1st look I will find out shortly thanks again

Ms Mad Lemon Relly? it is little suprice becouse my friend had C-1 with behringer mixer and it was hissy, may be it was mixer issue but your Yamaha handels it very well

Hi...I really enjoyed your mixer test....but why was there hissing in the audio...there was a light hum...I'm not sure if it was self noise from the mixer, or the microphones ... if it was indeed preamp noise, or self noise from the microphone, then you need to have that dealt with....don't know how you were wearing headphones and did not pick up on the audio noises

Thanks for this detailed review! I am planning to buy a Yahmaha mixer with phantom power by next week. I would be primarily using it to enhance Voice over and music/audio quality for my short videos. It would be of great help if you can guide me which Yahmaha model should I buy that would be compatible with my BM800 mic and Mac book Air. Would appreciate a quick response. Thanks!

MsMadLemon Thank you for your prompt reply. Just wanted clarity on the MGO06X Yahmaha mixer if it could be set up with my Mac book Air for recording podcasts in Audacity and Garage Band. Since it has XLR ports (48Volts) I was wondering if it can be connected to a USB sound card's microphone directly. Just bought one today, so I can play my Yamaha Electone organ with MP3s without disturbing housemates. Mine has a hum in it. Try right clicking the speaker icon on the task bar at the bottom of your home screen and then click on "recording devices" If you have the mixer connected already you should see it listed there. Right click on each device to enable or disable. Your recording program should then recognize the mixer.
