Great deck but vicious battlerager put a land in your hand when enter
You have 4 lotus petal and 4 dark ritual
18 land is too much you can remove barren moor and 1 or 2 swamp for cabal ritual or the black card that cycle for 2 life and this deck become a really a bomb for everyone

Still need to get up to 4 mana total to function. Street wraith could be good but we are currently paying so much life with sign in blood effects and Snuff out. List wasn't perfect by any means so could be a good way to go

Add ninjas to this. Ambusher and OG Shinobi are bananas with battlerager. Nobody wants to block it and lose 5 life. I've been playing with this in paper pauper since it's release
Seems like a fun way to go. Would probably want a different build with more creatures if you go that route

Have you seen the RUG initiative lists that play arbor elf and wildgrowth/utopia sprawl package as their ramp? They play 8 initiative cards and still get away with playing fire//ice and lightning bolt.
I have seen that, yea. I think it’s mengu’s original list.
I played a Jund version the other day. Felt really strong!
@@SnapBolt yea that makes sense. His Twitter is where I first saw it but I've seen a couple other very similar variations trying snap instead of temporal summoning
I think wildfire jeskai is the best home for initiative plus you get kenku

@@SnapBolt i'd probably just lose duress entirely. since your goal is to early initiative/monarch and protect, going full on removal heavy might be the way - maybe 2 or 3 sb distress for those hard control matchups idk

I was looking into building a pauper deck for me and my gf to play some 1v1s. Do you have any recommendations on what can be fair decks against each other? I know some decks are kinda hard when sideboarded against and when knowing each others decks, the hate cards will be perfect in the main deck already. I think i would love the affinity deck, purely for the atrifact theme (not power lvl haha) what would be a fair 50/50 match-up against it?

affinity is a pretty strong deck
I've found the jeskai ephemerate mu for affinity to be kind of an 50:50 with interesting back and forth interactions
however sometimes the sideboard just straight up hoses you
Aite so I watched more of the vid and maybe not affinity lmao, any other fun decks?

Lots of good options, difficult to choose two decks. Look at mtggoldfish and find some decks that look fun to you!

I will say that the initiative is more interesting than the monarch because it requires you to make decisions.
Pretty cool that MODO players can also feel terror of Aarakocra Sneak and Kenku Artificer.

Thoughts on the mechanic and its impact on the format? I feel like the downshifts are there to sort of keep it at bay, it's hard to keep initiative vs Swiftspear or Boros iterations (or at least keeping initative). However I feel like having another mechanic that monarch decks can use to leverage their cards is a bit op.
Initiative seems very, very strong to me. Format warping. Might even be too strong, unless affinity has anything to say about it ;)
@@SnapBolt played what I thought was an Affinity mirror match at last month’s local win-a-box. Opponent brought in like four of the battlerager against me and it effectively won him the match. Yeah it’s strong.
