Looking forward to watch this recording later, but leaving a comment just to show my appreciation! Izzet and its various tempo-control incarnations are my favorite in the format. UR control won the recent showcase qualifier. The deck is definitely playable post MH3, but it also seems to me that there is something missing, enough so that not one version of the deck is dominant. Personally I wonder if the closely related UR/RUG serpentine curve + fling deck could be built for the current meta.
@@SoopaPop I love UR too. Thanks for the comment. The only thing is with curve is that it cost 4 mana and terror cost 1 mana. Difficult to justify when the meta is so fast with red decks and combo decks. Still, maybe curve decks could still be solid!
i was more thinking of a skred control deck that packs 20+ answers to popular decks, a bunch of cantrips, and then the curve+fling combo with the hopes of winning on a 1 shot or 2 shot. a bunch of the meta is combo right now, if you can shut down those decks and then threaten lethal before they trying going for their combo again, i think above 50% winrate is possible
I was pretty pumped when I saw it was you! I've been watching your content for years! I had set up both the hunter and the party btw. The forest was from the ash barrens not the cascade.
I really like murmuring mystic in UR faeries nowadays. It provides a fast clock if unanswered and also buys you so much time with an endless stream of blockers
@@Holden_Prio glad my bad memory is good for something lol I remember all the cards just not their names. I usually can ‘read’ the entire card from memory minus the name
Do you think we could get a consistent series on UR fae since it’s your favorite? Id love to watch a progressive series where you fine tune and iterate on your favorite list and spellstutter never goes out of style.
@@SnapBolt I gotcha. if its variety you’re aiming for then Id like to ask for some breathless knight brews, they’re pretty spicy imo and I don’t see too many people playing them
@@SnapBolt I hear ya... I dropped Pauper due to lack of in person play. I wish I could jam online all the time but there is no real competitive play in person for Pauper really.
Bluffing weather the storm or Gurmag seems just as good as bluffing ephemerate to me. saying "strictly" better on a bluffed effect is kinda weird... do you mean you just like the art? lol 😅
Kirb had a good run with Izzet Skred recently and his video with this upload of yours have me casting some sidelong glances at my UR Fae deck sitting politely in its box behind me.
Over Fae? I haven’t wanted to play actual Fae in a while. The fact that a low CMC tempo-control strategy akin to Legacy Delver is a viable approach to Pauper is very enticing to me. Who doesn’t love a pile of red removal and blue permission spells with only an endgame threat or two!
