Text by George Matheson:
O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thy ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O Joy that seeks me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.
Brought tears to my eyes. What beautiful young people. Amazing blend of voices.
To sit in that church surrounded by those angelic voices! ❤️🎶
I am an alumni of Arvada West (many years ago). You ladys did a remarkable job with this song. I have done an SATB version of this. Wonderful music
It’s been a while since a song made me cry, but this one sure did. Wonderful job ladies!
I cannot stop listening! What a beautiful introduction for me of Elaine Hagenberg's music!
Thank you
They sound like a legion of angels coming from the clouds ..... BEST rendition of 'O Love' on UA-cam, live or recorded
Beautiful!! And a high school choir - amazing! Love this arrangement for SSAA
This was absolutely stunning and took my breath away. I needed to hear this today. Thank you for a beautiful and heart felt performance
This is a stunning performance of a gorgeous piece I did not know until I heard of it through a choral director's post on Facebook. (My students are so excited about performing it next year!). I know there are other performances on youtube, but I'm not interested in looking to listen to one as this one is so utterly satisfying in pacing and phrasing, with gorgeous tone color from the young women and terrific long-range musical architecture. Bravo to Maestro Maunu and Arvada West High School Singers! Your great talent and musical depth is deeply gratifying to the soul! Thank you. Dr. Mark Terenzi, Director of Choral Activities, Kean University, Union, NJ
I can’t believe this was only a year ago I miss this
This is exquisitely performed. My all time favorite arrangement of this song.
Great singing, and the church also is beautiful.
Moved me to tears; thank you for the beauty.
Stunningly beautiful! Though it's been over 25 years since I was in choir, my love for choral music has only grown stronger.
I’m at 63 years out from high school singing this selection and 30 years out from conducting but this performance stirs my soul to yet sing from my heart. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning! What a lovely group of young women expressing the gorgeous lyrics and harmonies of this song. Thanks for the gift. Bless all of you, you warmed my heart in a big way!
Gorgeous! I love this song. The choir I sing with does it, the SATB arrangement.
I was quickly trying to learn the standard alto part for this song and stumbled upon this. Wow. Wow. Wow! It brought me to tears. This is perfection!
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing God's love and light!
Absolutely beautiful and soothing - and lovely cinematography 💕
GORGEOUS!!!
Love this key :)
Since I was a child I was delighted with the sweet and angelic voice of the soprano, in this powerful choir I see beautiful sopranos and against tall; Apotheosis a masterful interpretation.
So beautiful..! Thank you...it soothes the soul. ❤️
O love, that will not let me go, powerful, awesome and beautiful lyrics, thank you.
Amazing.Very good sopranos
Amazing clarity of diction. The movement of the various parts was thus clarified even more. Lovely!
You have done justice to this. It makes me tear up a little as the closing of school prevented my Concert Choir from finishing this deeply heartfelt song. Congratulations to this women’s choir for a beautiful performance.
This an amazing performance! So touching and beautifully interpreted. Ann Small
O LOVE THAT WILT NOT LET ME GO (George Matheson)
O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.
O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.
Beautiful job guys! Just gorgeous.
Nicely done! Brava!
Very spiritual and lovely!
So angelic sound!! ❤️❤️❤️
lovely ensemble sound - well done
Gorgeous. And smooth camera transition!
That actually gave me chills during one of the crescendos. Beautiful job.
sheer awe
Beautiful healthy singing. Just lovely.
Thank you. Thank you every one of you. Thank you Chris Maunu, Emily Keelan.
Lovely arrangement of familiar hymn.
Stunningly beautiful. I was curious how it would sound without the tenor and bass parts. The answer: still amazing!
A re-issue, this time with a “new” melody by Elaine Hagenberg. No question, the music is lovely 😊.
Masterfully done!
angelic 🥺
Wonderful!
Bravo a todos. Bonito lugar
this is so pretty :)
Come thru Altos!!
Beautiful performance. What equipment was used to make this recording?
So how many times did you have to sing this to get all these camera angles? It looks like at least three, one for when you were in choral formation, and two to capture both angles in ring formation.
(And that assumes you had more than one camera for the first part.)
would share but the sight of all the crosses makes me too sad.
What venue was this recording taken place?
Where can I find the sheet music for this?
So beautiful. Completely wrecked me; I'm crying!
.
I have to ask, though: Why are there so few young women of color in your choir?
That's a really strange observation, but a bit of simple research would have given you the answer: 'The racial makeup of the city was 89.08% White, 0.9% African American, 0.8% Native American, 2.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 3.5% from other races, and 2.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.7% of the population.' (Wikipedia) The city is 90% White.
@@BT-od2oi Don't be so defensive. While it's not your fault the community is so isolated, the question is not a "strange observation" but addresses/reflects the condition of our communities..... Nonetheless, it was a beautiful rendition. Congrats!
Clarence Smith The observation is/worn/tired. The reply was researched.
It’s just where we live and go to school sadly we aren’t a very diverse community
@@madisonmajor8889 nothing sad about it, be proud of whatever community you're apart of; it's your home. Always make it better how you can, but be grateful for what you have too
I can't watch the conductor because the music (choir) and his movements are completely out of sync. The choir performed beautifully.
Whose gonna be hitting up 2 steps from hell ? :D ... look them up if you don't know who they are!
very low altos!!!!
Excellent and beautiful!! But the pianist plays wrong note when she playing m. 32. Its disturbing
