Hey guys. Follow me on Instagram if you would like to meet me in Salt Lake City this weekend. Not only will I post content about my trip there but I will most likely do a little meet-and-greet and it will be announced on Instagram
Looking forward to hopefully meeting you
If I miss you, I can't wait to watch the video and more of your stuff.
That is so exciting! I can’t wait to hear about your trip!
When you get time please please listen to Slow down by Sissel (2019 Pioneer concert with the Tabernacle Choir)
The audience even gives her a standing ovation at the end and you can watch her reaction and it’s just the best. ❤❤❤
Oh I’ll be there with my family. Well look you ip
Charlie, I am so thrilled for you. I hope you have an amazing time in Utah and also hope that your soul is filled with peace and joy this weekend! Music speaks so powerfully. Safe journey!
In a world full of wars, your content is so refreshing 😊
Go Sunday morning by 9am so you can attend Music & the Spoken Word with the choir before the 10am Conference session where the choir will also sing. 💗
Yes!! Experiencing music and the spoken word is a must!
@@ashleysb3 go earlier to watch them rehearse!
Absolutely .. because it is during Conference time it will be in the Conference Center which seats 20k+. He really needs a special experience in the Tabernacle which has its own sound since the structure was built with sound enhancing technology.. no not microphones or speakers ..just sound bouncing walls
Please go to Music and the Spoken Word early when they rehearse. So good!
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend in Utah! I hope you enjoy General Conference and get a chance to drive up in the canyons to see the amazing fall colors we have right now.
Wow, Charlie, I think you will really enjoy SLC. I think you will enjoy the conference. God bless you, sir. I will pray for you in your struggles with your family. Have faith.
Doctrine & Covenants 25:12 “For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer into me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads.”
I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe that you have been introduced to this choir at the exact time in your life you needed to be and this trip to General Conference that has been made possible by such a generous soul will be the right place for you and at the right time in your life.
The church has redone their hymnal for the first time since the 1980’s and this hymn is one of the ones that has been added to the hymnal. I love it more and more every time I hear it.
I'm the furthest from being a Mormon than one could ever be, but I have always loved the music of this choir. I bought their albums in the '60s right along with those by the Beatles and the Beach Boys. I've always thought one of their most spectacular songs is "Come Come Ye Saints."
Come Come Ye Saints is on of my very favorites. I cry every time we sing it. It's wonderful that you know it too
I agree come, Come, Ye Saints is a very magical song
The Lord needs you Doug. What you’re feeling is the Holy Ghost telling you He needs you.
Sounds like not that far. Perception is interesting.
@@hdb80 PLEASE everyone! I can love the music without embracing the religion. We all came into this world the same way and we'll all be going out the same----with or without Mormonism or any other religion. I made a simple statement about loving the choir and a particular song to which I would love to see Charlie react. That's all.
Redeemer of Israel accompanied by an orchestra gives me goosebumps every time.
Oh we sang that last week on music and the spoken and word and I definitely cried during the practice run and broadcast. Such a wonderful song! It was my first time singing it with the choir.
Just wait until you are inside the Conference Center. The music is so infectious it is hard to put the experience in words.
Agreed!! I wish he could attend a Christmas concert, if only to hear the song they always close with, “Angels From the Realms of Glory”. It’s one of those that needs to be heard in person and is awe-inspiring.
If you're in Utah on Thursday and aren't too tired. The choir practices on those days (usually). It is free and open to everyone. It's cool to watch what goes in to perfecting their sound.
Almost all Thursday rehearsals are open to the public. Unfortunately, this Thursday's rehearsal will not be open.
Utah welcomes you Charlie. I have attended Conference and listened to the choir a few times, mostly I have watched it on TV is so beautiful and perfect. Bring a box of tissues, YOU WILL NEED IT!!!
Thank-you to the person who paid for him to go!
This community is fantastic.
I'm so excited you're coming!!! I sing in the choir and am thrilled for you to hear us in person. Also, check out the changing leaves in the mountains while you're here!
Also, I regret to inform you that the orchestra doesn't play with us at general conference. I agree that they add so much to the ensemble and power. It will still be wonderful - our organists are amazing. We'll just have to have you back for a regular Sunday broadcast. ❤
Missy, is there anyway that you can meet him while he’s there? Let him know which sessions the choir will be singing? Anyway he could meet the choir? Be presented with a few CDs of the choir? I missed where it was mentioned that someone has bought him a ticket and am so excited because the same thought had been running through my mind. He really needs to sit in on a usual Sunday and even have a chance to sing with you all. Sigh. I am wishing that I still lived in Salt Lake right now.
@@catherinefinken2294My mom used to sing in the choir. Unless things have changed a lot the choir sings during the opening session on Saturday morning and in every session on Sunday.
@@laurastreeter1737 that's still the case. Sat morning and all day Sun. I have no idea when he'll be there. Maybe we'll get lucky and can catch him outside between sessions on Sunday?
The fact that each member of the choir has a testimony of the words and principles sung in their hymns makes a huge difference!
This
I don’t think I ever even thought of it that way! Great observation and comment. The spirit of truth shines brightly through the music sung by those who believe the words they are singing! I LOVE IT!
Charlie, you will want to expect that the orchestra does not perform at General Conference. But it will still be ..... amazing.
Your light increases with each of these videos from the Tabernacle. It's noticeable. And lovely.
Oh my gosh I'm so excited you are coming!!!!!! Would love to meet you!!!!!
Ditto
Wait he’s coming to conference!?! Nice!! The music in person is on a whole another level. One of the most powerful in person experiences I’ve ever had. Truly amazing and soul shaking experience
Same
You need to hear the choir sing "As I have loved you". Beyond belief
The story behind the lyrics of this song is mind blowing too. Horatio Spafford wrote it after the great Chicago fire burned his business, then his daughters died when their ship sank, and he lost an infant son to disease.
Thanks. That background matters. I will listen with different ears now. I lost my best friend, mom, dog, aunt, and nephew all in 2 years. Today is the 1 year anniversary of my dog. I miss him the most second to my mom. It is still well with my soul...😔
Enjoy the mountains and the culture and the warm people, they’re real. Expect to have a few testimonies thrown in your direction, but know that they come from people who want you to have what makes them happy, and want to share. And by all means, feel the power of the choir wash over you. It’s an awesome, immersive and joyful comforting sound and sensory experience. I’m glad you can go.
Oh my gosh this is so exciting Charlie! Enjoy every minute!!!
I’ve grown up since childhood (I’m in my 60s) listening to the tabernacle choir and I am so happy that your choice in music is so wonderful. Thank you. Have a wonderful time.
The Tabernacle Choir does not perform Saturday Afternoon and Evening Sessions, just fyi
You're going to have an absolute life changing experience mate! Safe travels!
If you can, try to drive the Alpine Loop while you’re here in Utah! Is the most beautiful state in the U.S.! Though I am a little biased.
Thank you for your reaction videos of the Tabernacle Choir. You’ve helped me to hear their music and message with a refreshing newness of tender emotion..
I am so glad to hear you are going to the Conference. You will definitely feel the spirit of the Lord.
The story that originated the words puts the tears in the hymn.
"What Shall We Give" is amazing!
Choral music is my kryptonite. I totally become an emotional mess. Nothing more beautiful.
Lol, I wish I could sing with them. But I would be a blubbering mess through every song.
Hey... I have a message from one of my seminary students that just watched your video. We are so excited for you to go and experience conference. Here is Zoey with her message... "I am a choir student at my school, and seeing you react to the chords the same way I do brings me happy tingles. Enjoy conference and the fellings of peace that the choir brings!"
Thabk you so much for forwarding that to me Mike. Please thank Zoey for her lovely message. I'm honoured she watched the video ❤️❤️
HI BROTHER BAIRD!!! (This is Kimber btw 😀)
I pray u will be touched by the Spirit while you are there and be blessed
Wait until you walk into the auditorium. Your heartfelt reactions so far will be heightened to another level. Enjoy the General Conference.
I am so excited for you to be here! I hope you enjoy it! God is good. 🙏
Charlie, welcome to Utah this weekend! Our beautiful state welcomes you! Being in the Conference Center with the acoustics that are in there will bring the choir to another level for you. Enjoy your time. ♥
It's a rare occurrence to see one of the choir members become emotional. When you do, you can't help but know that the song/hymn has some deep meaning in that person's life. Thank you for your reviews of this wonderful choir and orchestra.
I can't wait for you to hear the choir in person, and to hear all about your experience!
Wow. I am from Dundee Scotland 🏴 and will also be going to my first General Conference and to see the Tabernacle choir live. I can’t wait.
So far I’ve managed to get tickets for four sessions. Excited to experience Utah again. Such a lovely place. Going on a road trip from Vegas through Southern Utah first. Looking forward to driving towards Salt Lake square and hearing a feast of General Authorities speak including our Prophet Russell M Nelson. ❤️
I’m so excited for you! My ancestors are from Dundee and I hope one day to go but till then it warms my heart to hear from the Church in Scotland. Have a wonderful time 😊
@@modify1ful Thank you so much.😊
I moved to Provo, Utah back in 1975 and worked in the LDS Church Offices in SLC. I had the joy of attending many Tabernacle Choir rehearsals as well as Music and the Spoken Word. Have a wonderful time in Salt Lake City, and I can't wait to hear your comments after your trip. Stay safe and feel the blessings!
Enjoy listening to modern day prophets and apostles and the heavenly sounds of the Tabernacle Choir!
When my husband passed away last year he asked our four kids and their spouces kids to sing this song at his funeral. It was his favorite hymn. It was so touching.
You should totally do The Spirit Of God Like A Fire Is Burning. It opens with a soloist and you get to hear the individual voice of a singer in the choir, gradually more voices and instruments are added until a final triumphant ending.(It is also one of my favorite hymns)
Absolutely agree!
I love that one!
This!
Also "How Firm a Foundation"
We are definitely doing that one this weekend!!
I just found you an hour ago and have been watching all of your reactions to The Tablernacle Choir. I had the opportunity to sing two conferences ago with the young single adult choir and being there to sing in front of the organ is something I will never forget. Thank you for helping me remember how amazing it is for me to have grown up listening to them and feel the spirit through your reactions. So excited for you to be here in Utah and see General Conference. It is something I hope you will never forget! Love from Utah!
You’re such a celebrity here already! All my friends have been talking about you and posting your videos! Can’t wait to have you in SLC! Praying for you and your family!
Ahh I'm flattered. I can't wait to be there ☺️❤️
@TheCharlieSmithChannel If you don't already know, I will let you in on a little secret.... all the concerts that the Tabernacle Choir puts on are free to attend. At least all the ones in Utah. All you have to do is reserve your tickets. Welcome to Utah. Drive the Alpine loop and see the fall colors between sessions. You will love it. Good luck with your family. You will be in more prayers than you know about. In fact you will have millions praying for you.
This is my absolute favorite hymn. I’ve listened to so many versions of it and it always makes me tear up! Such a beautiful song!❤
Guess what? During the Sunday General Conference Sessions you will get to sing with the Choir!
Charlie! I am so excited for you to attend Music and the Spoken Word and conference in person. I am one of the team of hair and makeup artists that work the broadcasts. The whole experience will be so awesome for you. I hope you love it and I can't wait to see your reaction to seeing it in person.
Sensing the music course through your soul at a live performance is otherworldly.
I love this song and what a beautiful rendition. Glad you will get to hear them live.
May you find both peace and comfort during your trip
I am so excited for you!!! You will be thrilled to be in that magnificent hall with that amazing choir and speakers. Please take a tour of the old Tabernacle. It's so incredibly beautiful. Have a great stay and good luck on your personal battle. God bless you!
You should see the backstory of this hymn which the choir presented at their Christmas concert with Hugh Bonneville.
Yes, that version of this hymn has me sobbing EVERY TIME.
Here's a link - Hugh does a wonderful job narrating the story alongside the choir. ua-cam.com/video/ReApJymYSiw/v-deo.htmlsi=lP1lhId1rx-J3i14
Have a wonderful trip!! Enjoy the music, SLC and scenery. Wishing you all the best!
Thank you for being such an uplifting part of my day. I watch every one of your videos.
Try to go to Music and the Spoken Word on Sunday before the morning session of conference. That has a ton of the choir singing. It's incredible. I'm excited you get to come to UT
Welcome to Utah! The weather is predicted to be beautiful and I’m sure it will compliment the words spoken.
You have to listen to The Lord’s Prayer with Andre Boccelli and The Tabernacle Choir. It is as if heaven and earth … touch.
I agree
Awesome to hear Charlie!! So many of us are excited for you to have this experience. Travel safe and God bless you brother!
This hymn is one of my favorites as well. This rendition was so beautiful. Horatio Spafford wrote the words as a poem after visiting the place where the ship that was transporting his family sank and his four daughters were lost. His wife managed to survive. Knowing this story gives those words so much more meaning. Enjoy your trip Charlie.
I’m excited for you, Charlie. I hope this is a great experience for you to be in the room and feel the power of the choir in your body. My heart goes out to you being in a custody battle that’s wearing you thin. I truly hope you find a bit of peace to keep you going 💪
Slow down. With Sissil and the Tabernacle Choir. You will love it. Best song I’ve ever heard. It will touch your heart. Please listen to it🌾
He already did a video on it
I couldn’t agree more!! That performance was impeccable and will always stand out in my mind as the epitome of Sissel and the Tabernacle Choir joining forces. To be there in person was an experience that is hard to put into words.
For those saying he already did it, in the comment section of the Battle Hymn video he specifically says he has not done it yet. He actually replied twice saying he hadn’t done it yet. As of today, he hasn’t.
Totally agree - I hear a divine female voice come through when I hear Sissel sing that song.
I’m so happy you’re coming to see the tabernacle choir, and general conference! They truly are something to behold. Just know that you will be met with so much love from perfect strangers. We all love you and are grateful for your love for the tabernacle choir. Thank you for your videos. ❤
And praying for good in the custody battle; all the visitation you deserve🙏🏻🥰
.... realizing that Conference weekend choir is a little different from the weekly broadcast.... sans the orchestra. and the playlist is more tuned to hymns that the weekly broadcast.... Oh, and I'll watch for you. I'll be there too!
Listening to the MoTab live is an experience you won't forget. So glad you will have this fantastic opportunity. Enjoy!
I'm so excited that you get to attend in person! Safe travels and may God meet your heart's need.
When Brigham Young first commissioned the establishment of the choir, he knew of the Welsh singing prowess and most of the early choir members were from Wales.
Catherine Jenkins sang in the choir and asked those in the choir if any had Welsh connections. I think most of them
did.
This is one of my favorite gospel hymns. Thanks!
Thank you #Charlie. I am LDS from México 🇲🇽🫶🏻🫰🏻🙂
Can't wait for your video after you get back! Enjoy and take a bunch of tissues in your pocket!!! I will also venture to say that it won't just be the music that gets to you. The messages are profound and for the world. NOT just for church members. You will probably notice when you are there how the music fits seamlessly with all the messages of hope which makes it even better. Hope is what we all need. I'm so glad you get to go!
Enjoy Salt Lake brother. It’s a truly special place.
I love this arrangement so much when i first heard at a conference.
I live just west of Salt Lake and looking forward to conference. But im staying home to watch. You are going to be speechless with the whole experience. Imagine seeing them live!!
I get what you're feeling. It's like your soul is being plugged straight into heaven.
Excellent way to put it Vannersp!
Oh my gosh Charlie! This is fantastic and SO exciting! So glad you're getting to go have the experience, it's amazing.
There is nothing like this choir and orchestra. Truly. I am so excited for you to get to have the opportunity to experience this in person.
By the way, the fall colors in the mountains are popping with so many colors right now.
Love you Charlie! You're awesome and thanks for sharing your time and passion for music with the world.
I agree! I have been watching your videos and something has woken up inside of me. I love watching your passion for music and am reminded of all the good in my life!
Charlie Smith, you are my favorite!!! What a cute guy! Don't worry... I'm 84 years old.
I'm so excited that you are coming to hear the choir in person! And is it true you will be singing with them? Totally awesome, my friend.
Join the club brother…best way I can describe them is: “Angelic Voices”. Beautiful.
While he’s in SLC…someone get this man a pass to a practice session and a seat so he can sing one song with the MOTAB Choir.
I love watching you, especially during this song. I only heard it for the first time a couple years ago and fell in love with it. God bless you!
Welcome the Conference this weekend! Hope you love it here!
😮😮Wow!! What a complete and total honor!! You'll be in my neck of the world. Enjoy the gorgeous mountains!!!
Super happy you’ll be here, Charlie! You probably have a full schedule, but if you have an hour to grab some food and check out Utah, it would be my pleasure to show you around.
As a member of the Tabernacle Choir, I have to say that you have reviewed some of my most favorite songs to rehearse and perform. I have one recommendation for you. Our associate conductor, Ryan Murphy, has an exquisite song he was commissioned to do. It’s called “Lullaby”. I’d love to see what you think of that song.
You are right when you said that Mack is a genius - he truly is!
I'm so excited that you're going to get to experience general conference and the tabernacle choir in person! I hope you have a great experience, and I can't wait to watch you upload your experience as well!
We need to get you to SLC to attend their annual Christmas concert.
I’d never heard this hymn until this summer, when I was handed a copy one Sunday morning, told that it would be in the new LDS hymnal, and asked to accompany the congregation in singing it that day. Our rendition wasn’t quite so perfect as this one, but I realized when I read through the music that this will become one of my favorites. It’s as beautiful as the story behind it is sad.
You’re going to be blown away hearing them in person. And I hope you’re inspired by the messages also.
I've heard of the choir almost my entire life but have only seen them last year during April's General Conference. They are absolutely angelic. Regardless of whether you're a member of the church or not, you'd feel the presence of the Spirit of God when they sing.
You are fantastic!
I hope someone will be able to introduce you to Mack Willburg. That would make things so awesome!
The magic of the Tabernacle Choir is they have the gift to express in music what our hearts don't have the power to verbalize. I am so grateful you were gifted the ability to visit! I agree, attend Music and the Spoken Word at 9am before the Sunday Morning Session. Also make sure you head up into the mountains. The autumn color will be breathtaking.
I'm so excited that you will be here for General Conference! The Tabernacle Choir is truly a force.
I love it when I can visibly see you feeling the Spirit. It's so beautiful.
I’m in the choir and it’s so exciting that you’re able to come! General Conference is one of my favorite things to experience twice every year, and it’s such a treat to get to sing in it now! I hope you have a fantastic trip. And definitely try to get back to hear the orchestra. They don’t play with us at Conference, but they are some of the most talented and humble musicians I’ve ever met. They’re amazing!
Bless you Charlie, I'm so sorry for your family troubles. With Jesus Christ in your life, it will be well with your soul! I'm excited that you will be able to hear the choir in person - Good luck and safe travels!
Hi Charlie. What a perfect time for you to attend General Conference. All of the conferences are amazing but this one will have an incredible message from President Nelson and other speakers. God bless you and your family. Hoping for the best outcome for you and the custody of your children.
I’m so excited that you will get to listen to them in person. It is an experience unlike anything else.
My wife and I went through an extremely trying custody battle for custody of our granddaughter a few years ago. We placed our fate in the Lord's hands, even though we knew we were in the right and had the child's best interest at heart, you never know about the outcome. Unscrupulous people get nasty and defame you in no time! We won the case. God bless you Charlie. General Conference is going to be awesome. Prayers going your way. I know that God created soundwaves for a divine purpose just like atoms and the spectrum of colors. Amazing. Thank you for looking for and promoting what is beautiful in this world. “We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." Love,
Laurent 🙏 ❤
Prayers for you, your children and that all turns out best for you. Hope you love your time here in Utah.
You're going to love it! Have. wonderful time.
