I really, really, REALLY did not understand what that meant as a kid. As an adult, who has DESPERATELY needed to stall telling bad news I TOTALLY get it, lol
Despite his role being deminished as trilogy progressed, he is still one of only two villains who appeared in all three prequels, the other being Palpatine/Darth Sidious.
For being the first Star Wars villain I ever saw, I have to say George Lucas definitely made him stay in my mind even if he didn’t have a huge presence after episode 1. It was cool going back to episodes 2 & 3 as an adult and realizing this guy was still apart of the story in the other two movies lolz I love the fact that they used actual costumes for this species in general.
What I find odd is how he got away with all his crimes in the first film and still got to be the leader of the Trade Federation (you hear this in the scene where Anakin and Padme meet up with the new queen of Naboo)
Silas Carson is the only actor who officially was killed three times on screen in the entire saga. Besides playing Nute Gunray, he also played Jedi Master Ki-Adi Mundi, who was murdered in Episode III. Also, in Episode I he played captain of the ship that brought Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to Gunray's ship. And he was killed by Gunray's order.
I am saying officially because so many extras and stand ins played multiple roles in the movies and could have possibly be killed as many or even more times than Carson, but it is impossible to know or even find out.
Gunray had no idea who blew up his ship during the Battle droid inviason of Naboo. He would of hated Anakin Skywalker more then Padme for blowing up his ship.
I wish he appeared more in the clone wars considering he was the main villain of episode 1 but I do like the fact he kept a petty grudge against padme for the entire trilogy
Nah I really like Tom Kenny's gunray. It's works better for an animated version. It's the same reason I love Temura Morrison mainly as Boba and Jango in the movies, but Dee Bradley Baker as the clones.
The irony of it all is that Gunray in the end was on the winning side of Clone Wars, since it was his ally Darth Sidious who claimed the victory in the end. Since he was killed after Order 66 and the destruction of the Jedi, he lived to see (technically) the victory of his side in the entire war.
@@lorumipsum1129 To this day, I do not think that Palpatine planned for Padme to die, at least not in the way she did. She was collateral damage of his entire plot.

You know something i love about Gunray? He literally caused the events in all three prequel movies, not just the phantom menace! In Attack of the Clones, the jedi find the clone army because of a bounty hunter's saber dart. This bounty hunter was sent to kill Padme. Remember who wanted Padme dead? Then, right before revenge of the sith, Sidious was forced to accelerate his final plans because the jedi had found information about him and were coming close to discovering his true identity. And the reason the jedi got this information is because Gunray left his mechno-chair on Cato Neimodia. In other words, the Republic fell faster because THIS GUY FORGOT A CHAIR!! Okay, i know that last one isn't canon anymore (it's in novel Laberyinth of Evil for anyone who's interested). But still, Gunray's story is proof that no one is too foolish to leave an impact. And you know, the galaxy would turn out better eventually, so from a certain point of view, Nute Gunray is a hero lol
I love how the Separatists were like "we were inspired by Naboo's resilience against a republic-funded private army's invasion so we're going to invite that private army to our table"
