Thanks for all your support from the last channel update! Enjoy regular Sunday programming 😊 I am currently in Baku, Azerbaijan, having arrived from Istanbul’s New Airport last night. That’ll be the next video on this channel, landing to the public next week! Hope you enjoy this novel little flight as much as I did 😊 (*yes, there’s a minor sound blip at the end - the missing words are “and that’s it for another trip report, and I’m here in Wick” 🤷🏼♂️)
Oh my god I can’t believe I only realized this now... soft drinks are named because soft is the opposite of hard, and hard drinks are alcoholic drinks and soft drinks are non-alcoholic 🤦🏻♂️
Those are my favourite ones. The best flights I ever experienced were in January 2002 with a now defunct airline called Skyways between Arlanda and Storuman. It was a Fokker 50 jet and the propellers made a huge racket. It was snowing very heavily when I arrived which made the landing all the more fun.
7:37 - Something quite interesting about RAF Skitten is how even though it's now partly in use as a quarry, the company operating the quarry have used the positioning of the runways as the dig site, so the excavation still looks like a runway from above!
I love these small "local" airlines. They provide care and a service that many of the big mainline airlines can´t. It feels way more personal when you fly with them!
Hi Paul, ever thought about taking eastern airways welsh domestic route from valley to Cardiff? It subsidised by the welsh government and is very cheap at only £25 one way and also operated by a J41like in this vid, anyway thanks for another great report 👍🏻
Paul! Outstanding. Crap, everyone is doing travel now--but none as good as you! All the major cities have been covered--but who will show you Wick? Only you Paul. And I care because I'm going to Scotland in the next 1 to 2 years, traveling the distilleries for 2 weeks, seeing the sights in the far northern reaches. A suggestion--you need to morph yourself from a train and plane Travel Channel, into more of a comprehensive Travel Channel, such as a Rick Steves type production. Where to stay in Wick, culture of Wick, where to eat, etc. You can spend a year in Scotland! where to go on Mull, where to go on Islay, how to get to and see and sample the whiskeys. Which BnB's to stay in..... Love your stuff glad you're going full time looking forward to great productions
Bcoz everyone doing travel faking it happy to be on Flatbed Business Class flights ONLY. Nobody wants to travel like Paul did. Paul videos are the best.
Thank you for your positive report. As Aberdeen is the centre for many off shore activities, the Wick - Aberdeen connection is very important to the local community. It also connects folk to onward journeys in the UK and abroad so it is a much needed link.
Paul (I haven't watched the video yet, as I was surfing your website), we have quite a bit in common. My family traveled a lot during my upbringing and instilled the bug in me. We were all up and down the eastern US every summer. I traveled a bit as an adult, too. I lived in Switzerland for a while and loved it. But, I was in Civil Air Patrol in the late '70s (yes, I'm old) and met some RAF cadets during a glider experience. The gliders were so cool. Quietly...well, gliding...through the air. So peaceful. Civil Air Patrol really helped shape me into who I am today. I wish I had stayed in longer, but I got married and life goes on. In any case, it was great to read your bio and learn this little nugget of info. Now, onto the video... :)
When I first arrived at Aberdeen Dyce in January 1979 the 'new' lounge was being planned, the taxi driver who took me to my meeting told me it was soon going to have a major new by-pass round the city, the new by-pass was opened about 3 months ago (It bankrupted Carillion)! While there I flew to Wick on the same flight as Paul except it was a British Airways 'Budgie' (HS 748) which did the flight! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, great little video!
Interesting video Paul! As much as I do love flying in the larger aircraft, there's some special about these little aircraft. The flying seems rawer. It's like driving a gokart verses a Ford Mondeo. :) (that's the best analogy I could think of).
haha you'll have to check out my latest video! We have quite a few ATRs, Dash-8s and Saab 340s flying around, as well as more less well known one (that I don't know off the top of my head... :) Beachcraft?)
My home airport! Always lovely to see it in UA-cam videos... I actually have great memories of the Eastern Jetstreams 41's, although the fares were often very expensive... love the Windows though
Fantastic vid, Paul .. I love seeing these more offbeat routes, carriers and aircraft. I am former cabin crew on these smaller regional birds myself (not the J41, but others similar) .. so when I see this type featured, its always exciting to me!
Great video, as always! I had a chance to fly RyanAir, operated on a leased PartnAir CV-580, from Galway to Luton as a kid. A real treat that I'll never forget.
Great to see you flying through my home town Aberdeen. You’re very right re the terminal upgrades. Very much overdue. They’ve made some great progress in the last couple of years. The Northern Lights lounge is also one of the best 3rd party lounges I’ve been in. I’m BA Gold and usually choose it over the new BA lounge there too as the food is so much better! Great video!
The last time I flew a J41 was on American Connection (Trans States) Columbia, MO to St. Louis in 2006. It's a similar length flight. The Flight Attendants would only sometimes do a beverage service.
Reminds me of a great trip I took many years ago, around Australia from Sydney via Cairns, Mt. Isa, Alice Springs, Adelaide, Melbourne, back to Sydney. Then to several remote spots in Papua New Guinea. All on small prop planes similar to your video. Remote and unusual, that's always a great trip and you do it well.
You should try across to Stornoway, Benbecula and Barra. Barra is a beach landing, Benbecula you fly around a mountain to land and Stornoway the approach is over the sea. All great fun in the normal gusty Hebridean weather.
so glad you did a trip out of Aberdeen, I was born there and lived there till I was 14, got a lot of nostalgic memories at Aberdeen about to head off on family holidays.
What a brilliant video, thanks for sharing. I just love flying in turboprops. My most exciting journey was from Innsbruck to Vienna flying in a Tyrolean Airways Dash 8-400. Terrific scenery and a rather bumpy approach into Vienna! Cheers Pete
There is something really fun about the short routes, here in New Zealand there are a number of very short hops, one of that I have taken was PMR-WLG with an air time of around 20 minutes. Hope to see you down this one some time!
Aloha from Hawai'i! You might be interested to know that short flights are a fact of life here in the Hawaiian Islands as well as their high cost. From Honolulu to Moloka'i (20 minutes via prop); Kaua'i (25 minutes via jet); Maui (30 minutes via jet); maybe 35 - 40 minutes to Hilo and Kona. As you know, take-offs and landings are airlines' greatest expense, if for nothing else than fuel consumption. Your videos have improved in quality so much over the years. You are producing excellent work. Mahalo nui (thank you very much). If you ever get to Hawai'i, or better yet if you ever get to fly the Micronesia island hopper, I hope you will contact me beforehand. (I'm a patreon under another name.)
Quite ironic, the Dash8 at Wick was initially registered as G-JEDO, by Flybe. It was then sold to Aeor Contractors in 2013. Wick is often used as a stop for ferry flights over the Atlantic. With the takeover by Connect Airways Flybe will shrink dramatically, staff, aircraft and routes will go. This flight along with others receive subsidies from the Scottish Government being classified as Life Line Services. Some may survive in the remote areas, its other routes that will go. I always enjoy your facts, comments and interesting add ons.
Another great video. I certainly enjoy watching you make your way through the terminal buildings of the various airports. Particularly ABZ as we will be flying from there in the summer. I also enjoyed the "Enhanced" or so it seemed, in this video. Keep up the good work.
Another highly interesting video Paul. These planes are still widely flown in Nepal by Yeti Airlines and I use them frequently. The sounds in your video were very familiar. Next time I'm over there I'll do a video inspired by your style. If you don't already plan to do so I'd love to see you do some videos of internal flights in Nepal.
I love the new rebrand my man very well done! You have 100% of my support as you move to this next stage of your UA-cam career. Also on a side note your intro reminds me of the Virgin brand and that’s a compliment ;)
This used to be known as Dyce airport. I travelled from Dyce on a regular basis to Heathrow on my way to Entebbe Uganda as a 7 year old child on BEA back in the mid 1960's. I'm now 63. It is unrecognisable now - it looks very modern now.
The other day I watched a flight report video from Santiago, Chile, a place that I visited 40 years ago. They now have a huge and ultramodern terminal there, but I recognized the remains of the old modest terminal I knew from the architecture, when they showed the area that is now the duty-free shopping arcade there. I wrote a comment telling them that what is now a small section of the terminal was the WHOLE terminal back then, and I got a reply from the channel owner saying he was very impressed by that.
I can easily see the remnants of the ORD of my childhood (I’m 57) but it’s so tiny compared with the new bits and most of the old terminal is shopping and restaurants now.
Love these smaller aircraft on commercial routes. I often fly with Rex Airlines here in Australia using the SAAB A340 and yes they give out a sweet just before landing and its like flying in the the old days! Wick looks wet! Stay dry and really enjoyed your flight and review Paul. !!
Looking very nice....It looks warm there where it was Minus 23 degree last week.. Today it is about 43 degrees!!!! Crazy!!!!! A so call hot wave!!!! Crazy here in Chicago..... But you fly safe....
I used Eastern's old SOU-LPL link on Jetstream a fair bit when I was at uni in Liverpool. Absolutely loved it. Saved changing trains and a looong rail journey, and was no more expensive than the train, and sometimes significantly cheaper. Loved those planes, and was really gutted when they dropped the route :(
I haven’t flown a Jet Stream (31) since early 1990s (while in University) from Chico, California (CIC) to SFO (on a United Express flight); Was bumpy Over San Francisco Bay and fun landing at same time , on parallel runway with a 747-400
Reminds me of a flight I took on a northwest airlink (airlines...now delta) Saab 340 from Cleveland to Detroit for the first leg of a Cleveland-Detroit-Amsterdam-Vienna-Dubai trip I took several years ago. About a 35 minute flight or a 2 hour drive. Interesting to fly on these little planes.
£97 is not bad as the train is really expensive from aberdeen I used to train it all the time as I played semi professional football for wick and I lived in aberdeen another great video mate keep up the great work
Always love your videos, Paul! I don't know if you've flown that way yet, but Florida actually has a few turboprops that fly up and down the peninsula (mostly ferrying people from places like Jacksonville, FL to Key West). Maybe you should give Silver Airways a look next time you're stateside and in Florida! Cheers!
I am sooooo so so so jealous of what you do! I’m a huge aviation fan but can not afford pleasure flights like this. To be funded even partially by UA-cam would be a dream come true.... You are so lucky! X
Great to see you trying out the smaller planes and airports. You should come up to Shetland on a Saab 340 or 2000! Especially as the 2000s are being phased out this year and next year!
Appreciate the video Paul. I've been planning a trip to Scotland and wanted to find out what the flight from Aberdeen to Wick was like. Planning to visit in April of this year for almost two weeks. Cheers.
Looking very good there...I have not seen Power Back on an aircraft in a long time....I remember the old DC-9s that American and my United Airline had..Now those aircraft are called the MD-80s and 90s...Hehehehehe, I use to see Power Back aircraft at the Orange County Airport in Los Angeles and Dullas Airport in Washington DC....Well, you fly safe...
One of the airport that I want to visit I was to land at this airport some years ago on my way to Kirkwall with BA on a shorts but they changed the routing of the flight so I missed it out. Another good flight you should try is the Glasgow to Barra and I am sure you know about this one. I be do this the end of Feb 2019. Also I just love prop planes. Love your videos
Hi Paul, Thanks very much for another brilliant trip report. My family and I are from Christchurch New Zealand and we really enjoy your trip reports !. Our city is famous for our earthquake that happened in February 2011 that wiped out most of our central city. Would you ever consider doing a trip report in New Zealand ? it would be fantastic to see one on here with our quirky airline. Air New Zealand is quite famous with there in flight safety videos. Thanks for the trip reports and keep up the great work.
how is the ride compared to the EM2 Brasilia plus miss the turboprops as in the US only Horizon/Alaska flies them otherwise not much except silver with saabs and ATRs anyway great video and happy trails
Well Paul you certainly achieved your goal of making a “ novelty and pretty cool video “ . I enjoyed it , it was different and interesting . Well done .
Great video! Reminded me of my flight with Eastern from Cardiff to Anglesey. Looked like a great flight to take! Maybe you could do a trip report on flights from Lands End airport one day as surely that has to be the furthest south UK airport?
Hey, only saw this one now I'm opening Patreon! Weird! I like having the recording month added to the video. Pleasant colour on the wall in that lounge. Very stylish and calm. You do need to do a helicopter flight some day, that'd be cool for variety! Boarding through a long shed. Nice roar! Pretty cool video indeed! Cool plane, cool route. Ridiculous price if not for a UA-cam video :D.
Thanks for all your support from the last channel update! Enjoy regular Sunday programming 😊 I am currently in Baku, Azerbaijan, having arrived from Istanbul’s New Airport last night. That’ll be the next video on this channel, landing to the public next week!

Wingin’ It! Paul Lucas have fun in Baku - one of my favourite cities in the world! 😘
Remember, don't do full-time youtube without a backup plan.
9:30 Uuuuh... I can see you speaking but I only hear the background music...
Thank you for keeping the full take off with just pure sound it was always my frav thing in your video’s 🙏

Omg dw bro. Me too 😂
Yeah, how about that?
Me too
Sean Dunne I didn’t k ow that, so cool ,
Squidman 1:24
It is sometimes nice to watch a little odd ball flight every once in a while instead of the bustling jet flights
Fun Fact: Aberdeen is the busiest heliport in the world.
It’s an accurate fact.
Aberdeen Aviation Europe not in the world? 🤔
Oil industry
Because of the frequent helicopter trips to the rigs in the north sea I presume?
oop yeah, the video clarified it lol
I love the variety in your channel Paul.
Finally a trip reporter visits Aberdeen!
7:37 - Something quite interesting about RAF Skitten is how even though it's now partly in use as a quarry, the company operating the quarry have used the positioning of the runways as the dig site, so the excavation still looks like a runway from above!
Hope nobody tries to land in an emergency...
I love these small "local" airlines. They provide care and a service that many of the big mainline airlines can´t. It feels way more personal when you fly with them!
Aberdeen airport is my local airport. This flight often passes over my house
Hi Paul, ever thought about taking eastern airways welsh domestic route from valley to Cardiff? It subsidised by the welsh government and is very cheap at only £25 one way and also operated by a J41like in this vid, anyway thanks for another great report 👍🏻
I already took this last summer and the video will be posted soon 👍🏻
Wingin’ It! Paul Lucas Nice can’t wait to see it!

Good luck with the new gig, Paul. We enjoy your videos.
always a pleasure watching and listening to you and your professional reviews. My compliments
Thank you for your positive report. As Aberdeen is the centre for many off shore activities, the Wick - Aberdeen connection is very important to the local community. It also connects folk to onward journeys in the UK and abroad so it is a much needed link.
Thanks, Paul, for taking me back home for a few minutes! xxx

Paul i love the variety in your channel now, from big planes, little planes, long flights, short flights and even trains too
When I first arrived at Aberdeen Dyce in January 1979 the 'new' lounge was being planned, the taxi driver who took me to my meeting told me it was soon going to have a major new by-pass round the city, the new by-pass was opened about 3 months ago (It bankrupted Carillion)! Nice Airport..Looks like a neat little adventure. If you dont like the weather just wait fifteen minutes. Pretty country. I need to get off the couch!
Interesting video Paul! As much as I do love flying in the larger aircraft, there's some special about these little aircraft. The flying seems rawer. It's like driving a gokart verses a Ford Mondeo. :) (that's the best analogy I could think of).
Cheers Paul! I love a flight in a turboprop now and again - not sure you have too many Down Under these days?
haha you'll have to check out my latest video! We have quite a few ATRs, Dash-8s and Saab 340s flying around, as well as more less well known one (that I don't know off the top of my head... :) Beachcraft?)
I will! You’re probably thinking of Beech/Beechcraft, the King Air is a popular commuter prop.
My home airport! Always lovely to see it in UA-cam videos... I actually have great memories of the Eastern Jetstreams 41's, although the fares were often very expensive... love the Windows though
I enjoy Paul’s videos. He is informative and does research on routes, locations, and planes, I liked the guitar music on this video!
Another great video Paul, nice to see these small, domestic routes!
Cool flight. Some nice views of Northern Scotland. Flew Flybe from CDG to MAN a couple of years back. The flights was half empty, but was good.
Nice video Paul! I love small regional aircraft. I hope the rebranding goes well for you I will definitely keep watching you! 👍😀✈️
Great to see a Jetstream again! I spent many many hours on them in the past, back in the days when you could sit and watch the pilots at work 😀
Great to see you flying through my home town Aberdeen. You’re very right re the terminal upgrades. Very much overdue. They’ve made some great progress in the last couple of years. I lived in Wick! You must try Loganair from Wick to Edinburgh!
Money well-spent, indeed. Beautiful views and a wonderful aircraft. Thanks for that trip report.
Thanks so much Paul. I love these off of the beaten path destinations. More please :)
Very reminiscent of flights on Alaska Airlines' subsidiary Horizon from Seattle and Portland, including the 'corrugated Iron structure'.
so glad you did a trip out of Aberdeen, I was born there and lived there till I was 14, got a lot of nostalgic memories at Aberdeen about to head off on family holidays.

Nice vid thanks Paul. Nice to see some of my old stomping grounds. Last time I did that trip was on an Air Ecosse SD330
Loved your novelty video about your novelty flight Paul. Keep them up! Kansas City, MO.
Nice flight and very good Airport Lounge.
Paul,
Very nice KISS flight.
I would imagine Wick is quite beautiful on sunny days, they do have nice weather, don't they?
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Good to see you've been back up visiting us in the north! Loving the new intro with the new brand name :) hope you're having a good time in Baku!
UA-cam perfect episode Thank you for all the nuanced coverage.
Very good video Paul. I’m enjoying all your content
Carroll Planespotting hi carroll I’m Danny whatmore from menamescho
Danny whatmore oh hello Danny, how are you!? 😉
Carroll Planespotting I’m good how about you
I love the new rebrand my man very well done! You have 100% of my support as you move to this next stage of your UA-cam career. Also on a side note your intro reminds me of the Virgin brand and that’s a compliment ;)
I know you’re not a fan, but I just love the sound of any Prop plane. It just makes me feel happy!

For a flight like no other you should fly from Glasgow to the Isle of Barra, the aircraft lands on the beech, think it is operated by Loganair.
Good Stuff. Thanks for posting and sharing.
Eastern Airways have always flied that route. Not sure the link with Flybe. Good bacon rolls at the kiosk at Wick Airport too.
Flybe markets and sells Eastern flights now after Flybe fell out with Loganair.
I used Eastern's old SOU-LPL link on Jetstream a fair bit when I was at uni in Liverpool. Absolutely loved it. Saved changing trains and a looong rail journey, and was no more expensive than the train, and sometimes significantly cheaper. Loved those planes, and was really gutted when they dropped the route :(
Great video as always Paul! Love from Aberdeen!
Interesting route and great report as always 👍👍
I haven’t flown a Jet Stream (31) since early 1990s (while in University) from Chico, California (CIC) to SFO (on a United Express flight); Was bumpy Over San Francisco Bay and fun landing at same time , on parallel runway with a 747-400
Another great video Paul. Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic video Paul, nice one!
I'm really glad you did this video, considering I was planning on taking this flight as part of a "grand tour" of the UK I'd been planning.
Hi Paul, been a fan for years and like your new branding. I never knew you had a last name so I learned something new. Keep post your good work.
Another awesome video Paul!
This was a nice little flight trip. Well done
I love your videos. Well done!
Good Luck Paul 😉And every success in making the leap to become a Full Time youtuber
Another great report thanks Paul
I am sooooo so so so jealous of what you do! I’m a huge aviation fan but can not afford pleasure flights like this. To be funded even partially by UA-cam would be a dream come true.... You are so lucky! X
Thank you Tracey! Which is your local airport?
My local airport is wick
Been waiting for this video for ages, really annoyed UA-cam didn't give me the notification like it should.
Great to see you trying out the smaller planes and airports.
You should come up to Shetland on a Saab 340 or 2000! Especially as the 2000s are being phased out this year and next year!
Paul you did a great job. Nice review. Keep it up.
Appreciate the video Paul. I've been planning a trip to Scotland and wanted to find out what the flight from Aberdeen to Wick was like. Planning to visit in April of this year for almost two weeks. Cheers.
Extremely interesting and enjoyable. Thanks so much!
..Hi Paul..Always find your videos very relaxing...Keep it up...
Great stuff Paul, Keep Wingin it
Great report. Such a novel little flight to take, looking forward to the next video.
Air NZ safety videos are brilliant. Sure to keep your attention.
I feel lucky to dispatch J41's and Saab 2000s on a daily basis.
Interesting push back. It’s always sad to see abandoned airfields & aircraft going to the graveyard. Nice video! 👍💯
how is the ride compared to the EM2 Brasilia plus miss the turboprops as in the US only Horizon/Alaska flies them otherwise not much except silver with saabs and ATRs anyway great video and happy trails
Well Paul you certainly achieved your goal of making a “ novelty and pretty cool video “ . I enjoyed it , it was different and interesting . Well done .
Great video! looking forward to seeing more. Subscribed! 😄😄
Great video! Reminded me of my flight with Eastern from Cardiff to Anglesey. Looked like a great flight to take! Maybe you could do a trip report on flights from Lands End airport one day as surely that has to be the furthest south UK airport?
Never knew you were in town! Would have been nice to see you
My local airport, i will be doing this trip in the summer paul. Great video.
In from aberdeen but ive flown from the aberdeen. Theres a road nearby that you can stop on and watch planes come and go
Fab video. Love this aircraft, which eastern airways also use on the Cardiff CWL to Anglesey VLY route that I get to use frequently.
Good entertaining video thanks Paul 👍😀
Thank you for the video!
Really like what you’re doing with the videos
