I think should Kayle realize her mistakes, and realize that she isn't God, she can still love law and order, but show mercy and still be a warrior of justice.
Morgana is the rebel of the family, as the story tells, but she is misunderstood for the motives as to why. She has a soft spot for everybody, so she ultimately respects no laws, making her mercy into something like lawlessness.
Again, if Morgana were to realize that law and order were good things, she would be a very good character too.
But alas, I make no claim that either champion is perfect. It's hard to balance between judgement and mercy...something only God can do. Something which even angels cannot do.
If this story tells me anything, it is that.

called it. even with the old lore, i really wondered why the supposed evil morgana has support type skills, while kayle's was was more on the purge everybody near. that is why i had this lore about them almost like the current canon.

New Morgana has a line that really stood out to me, something like “Without compassion, what good are laws?” This perfectly reflects the sisters’ views.
Kayle only cares for justice, but has grown apathetic over time. Without empathy, how can her laws truly protect those who need them?
Morgana wants to help and protect those in need, even if it means breaking the rules. Without order, how can you best protect everyone?

I think their interactions are really good. It really shows the depth of what happened between them. There are some lines, for example if they're allies Kayle will say 'For this time, sister, we must put our animosity aside' and Morgana says 'We have never been enemies, sister' to which Kayle replies 'How beautiful your mind must be to think such things' and Morgana says 'How tragic yours, to believe them'. Also, my favorite line is when, if Morgana looks away from Kayle, she says 'Do not turn your back on me, sister!' to which Morgana replies 'I never did.'
So kayle is law and morgana is mercy?
Kayle represents justice and law, meanwhile morgana represents punishment and pain.

Morgana is about the shades of gray, she won’t just let you walk away from what you’ve done, but she’s not like Kayle in that she won’t just up and kill you for not being a paragon of justice and virtue. (Pah, I feel sick just writing that.)

@@nixie534 It's not just black and white. Kayle is misguided and blinded by the law aspect of justice and smites every person who is guilty, wether they have good reason or not. Morgana on the other hand, believes in the idea that there is more to everything. She believes that nothing is indeed perfect and that every sin has a backstory without letting go of the fact that the person has indeed sinned.

If you listen to the new lines after the remake it is really clear
to be honest, the debate about "which sister is the good one" is not the moral of the story. kayle and morgana NEED each other, without one the other is broken.
morgana needs kayle because without her, chaos would erupt. i'll give a very simple example: have you ever tried to run a team/ community/ server? at first you start out by listening to everyone and taking people's opinion into consideration but after a while you'll realize that you can't EVER please everyone and there will always be people who get mad at your choices and start acting out and siding with others. you need compassion but you also need to know when to shut down and do what's necessary for the common good.
and for kayle, she needs morgana because she's kayle's heart. as cold as she wants to seem, kayle couldn't bring herself to execute justice on her sister, even when morgana nearly destroyed demacia due to her forgiving nature. morgana is the voice of reason kayle needs and without her, certainly, she will lose her way. morgana recognized this to some degree since she never challenged or even interfered with kayle's sense of justice. she may not have fully agreed but i'd bet my ass that she recognized the good will in kayle and that you need both sides to succeed.
morgana is driven by her emotions to an extreme degree, which leads to mistakes of unforseen magnitudes if she puts her trust in the wrong person. not to mention her temper, she could destroy a whole planet all by herself.
kayle is too driven by logic and her head. she sees pain and instead of applying compassion WITH logic, she just eliminates the cause of the pain without mercy.
in a way, they're both struggling with their humanity but neither of them is good OR evil, just two halves of the same aspect.

I know this story is about perspective but I personally see Kayle as the villain here who’s blinded with her ‘justice boner’ as opposed to Morgana who’s all about protection.

It's as if riot are saying "Hey look, Satan is a down-to-earth devil that wants the good for mortals that's why he *grants* them their worldly wishes for the cheap price of their souls. Hm, I could imagine Morgana helping sylas, but I think she still has a more objective sense of justice then garen and sylas. She would not agree with sylas extreme Ideals, bc she felt the pain of magic, but also cares about the Perspektive of the wielders of magic

Doctor Alakazam Superman lost his wife and went apeshit, thus corrupting his sense of justice while kayle “lost” her mother and went everything went into the gutter she lost it and destroyed the city thus her sense of justice is starting to become corrupted (extreme mostly). So yeah kinda similar :)

I think that the early Demacians did not think Kayle and Morgana were using magic, but rather some divine power, different from mortal magic. The same way that in the real world, the Church would call "miracles" acts of god, but condemn evil "witches" who used unholy "magic". It is said in their stories that the Demacians believed the twins were "blessed by the stars" and called them "divine protectors", as opposed to simply being soldiers wielding magic. To a degree, that's even true: the powers of the Aspects and other cosmic beings seem different from regular old magic in Runeterra.
Speaking of magic in Runeterra. There's a pretty big problem that needs adressing right now. Might make for an interesting video?
Magic in fantasy usually comes in two main forms, whether it's a hard magic system with very specific rules (for example, the magic in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson) or soft magic that just kinda does stuff (Gandalf's magic in Lord of the Rings), or anything in between. Those forms are:
- Magic is the manipulation of some sort of power, and anyone who can do magic can do the same stuff if they train/are talented enough
- Or magic is unique to each individual, like the X-Men or Conduits from inFamous, and each person has a specific set of abilities they and only they can use.
Right now, magic in runeterra is apparently both. Almost all the lore seems to indicate the first option - Ryze describes it to Kegan as a force of creation that people can nudge, given talent, time, and practice, to do certain things; blood magic, frost magic, and etc are specific schools of magic that control this power in different ways; etc. However, stories related to Lux and Sylas seem to show magic as being unique to the individual : Lux instinctively knows how to use light magic, Sylas has a seemingly unique ability to detect and borrow magic power from others, the new recruit in his story specifically has the power of a dark cloud that chokes people.
These seem conflicting. You could argue that there are many different kinds of magic in Runeterra, and you would be correct - Yordle magic, spirit/Vastaya magic, blood magic, ice magic, Aspect powers and tons of others are all seemingly different, or at least different ways to use the raw power of magic. But the thing is those are always kept separate. Yordle magic is its own thing, different from Aspect powers, or blood magic, or Shuriman sun magic. And yet, when talking about just mages in a general sense, there is seemingly no separation between the classic wizard/sorceror type like Ryze, and the X-Men style "one power for each person" mages that seem to appear in Demacia. Additionally, Ryze and Kegan's story makes it seem that anyone can be a mage with study and talent, while the stories centered on Demacia seem to imply you're either born a mage or not.
Is this an inconsistency? A poorly explained separation between distinct types of magic? Or something else? Perhaps the suppression of magic in Demacia has caused the few who are naturaly more gifted in magic to be *exceptionally* gifted and more powerful, with their power manifesting in specific ways instinctively - it only seems like they're born with specific powers, when in reality they, as well as any normal Demacian, could eventually learn all kinds of magic, with practice.

Probably separation. But I think magic from different individual have unique properties thus it is better to learn specific magic that suited them.
I didn't read the whole comment because my eyes started to hurt but maybe there are branches of magic and people can be born with magic that is different and other magic is passed down like a family or village thing. Or how they say magic is a reflection of the soul, maybe all the magic is the same type but this "type" of magic reflects the sole and things that have happened to the certain champ. And remember places don't really hav bro follow that rule so maybe that's how people in the void, the shadow isle ect. Have the same type of magic. Probably didn't spell that right.
This is just a maybe. Everyone is born with magic, it reflects their soul, the very essence of their existence, so everyone has magic inside of them. Nurtured and given time as Ryze implies can do wonders, but you can also just kinda live with it and maybe just use it to cook up a meal.
What I am trying to say is is that, magic is both given at birth and ability which can grow as you imply, see how Sylas firstly used his magic? It just bursted our of his hands without him understanding what happened yet now he can steal one he desires and use it as he wants. Incredible isn't it?
Also I am sure Luxanna had at least some training, we dont want any "natural talent" like Doctor Strange here.
Also Sun Disc magic in Shurima is a replica of the Mount Targon, how it was made? I dunno no one said how it was but I would like to know.

I would see this way. let us say magic comes from the fundaments that make the universe, and life isn't supported by just one type of force, take our reality for example there gravity, strong interaction, electroweak interaction ( electromagnetism ) and many other types of force sustaining our universe ( who knows what more will be discovered in the future ) the point is every one of those have a function in the whole and lets say an array of uses if they could be freely manipulated.
In the universe of league, there are many forms of forces that interact to maintain the universe and the world, the apparent unique abilities that appear in Demacia could be because of that particular point of the world where the country is located there some mystical influence that makes people develop a unique power, and in other parts of the world the influences are different.
In Freljord there shaman that use spirits to do magic, iceborn that are naturally stronger than others and can use true ice ( a type of condensed ice crystal with mystical qualities ) and mages with learned abilities through religious discipline.
In Ionia the deal with spirits and magic of many types, through discipline and natural affinity. ( sorry i am a little uninformed about Ionia on the moment ).
Shurima i really don't know much but the ascended are mages or other special people that go through a ritual.
About Ryze and others like him, think this way, where there is a phenomenon people will try to understand it more, mages like him are an effect of this ( as are the new technology being created in Zaum and Piltover ), there people with talent and potential but not born with a specific affinity, think too how Kai'sa can control a void symbiote to use its abilities, it is simply the fact that people are too stubborn to give up and always try new ways.
In resume, i think the devs of league are going with a soft magical system, and they prefer to let us use our imagination a little ( personally i like that ), they are really fleshing out the world recently, they want to bring all the potential their world has to live, lets give them some more 2 years and i am confident they will put more details for us.

People don’t realize that there is not really a good and evil thing here. There is two aspects of Justice which both are needed. Though both of them to their extremes. The only piece of shit is Kayle’s champion. Kayle does not like how current Demacia is ran. Confirmed by her Voice lines when talking to demacians. If I was the writer there will be a middle ground between Sylas and Garen. Especially since Garen’s sister is a magic user.
Edit: I’m kinda disjointed how you twisted how Kayle allowed Morgana help the down trotted. As if she was humbled by it.

I mean, in her interactions she considers humans mere pets (Kayle). Most of what she says is rude to others and she kinda just kills anyone she thinks isn't just.
The thing is they are twins with a different ideology. Kayle offers Justice and Morgana offers Forgiveness. Justice without reconsider forgiveness is merely justice. Forgiveness without proper justice leads to abuse. They should come together as they were born together to establish perfect Justice.

I like Morgana more than Kayle to be honest, not cause I really agree with Morgana, but more cause I really dislike this new Kayle, she literally just sounds like some coward who is too scared to confront her own crimes and is actually delusional enough to believe that anything she does must be just and anything against her must be evil.

Agree... Everyone seems to think that Morgana is good... Empathy does not always equal good. Kayle on the other hand has its flaws being too rigid
I think Kayle is the best when things go well... but also the worst when things are going badly
If the rules feel fair and just to the people and they aren't too excessive then Kayles way is probably best
However if the rules and control go too far and breeds animosity and unrest... then solving that with brute force to restore order is just likely to cause even more unrest under the surface leading to even more destruction and killing

To answer your question as to why Demacians revere Kayle's magic over that of other mages is simple, at least in my opinion:
Put bluntly, Kayle is an angel. Angels represent Demacian ideals, therefore she can do no wrong. As far as they're concerned, mages started the conflict, while Kayle tried to end it. But, we all know what really happened...
Honestly, between this story, Sylas' story, and Lux's story, I think I'd rather live in Noxus. Sure, I'll probably get killed trying to get a promotion, but hey, at least they won't kill me because of the way I was born. (For this analogy to work, just assume I'm a mage living in Runeterra trying to gtfo of Demacia before they find m- annnnnd I'm in jail. Nice... My power was to heal people, how is that a danger to anyone!?)

I like this. Darkness doesn't equate to evil and alot of times it equates to rest or calm. This needs to be more prominent in story telling.

I know right! I myself am trying to develop a story of my own where certain characters sort of dark and evil-looking, but they are in fact the good people of the story! I thought it’d be a good twist to the generic dark character.
It's so shit when they use that excuse for magic too! I've read some high fantasy and only the quality ones seem to not fall into this generic shit and that's a few between an ocean of more shit.

true, but I AM starting to get tired of all of the "evil" people being better people than the "good" people. Kayle is obviously flawed in her ideals, whereas morgana does not have a flaw in her ideals presented at all. if there was one, please, lets talk about it.
I agree to a certain point. I think what is missing is the fact that some characters or champions need to die or be killed by other champions to progress the stories. I mean with wars their has to be deaths. Not to mention their so many unfinished stories. I think what riot you do is take a page from World of Warcraft and make expansions to further progress their stories. This way when one story ends the next expansion can create the other.
I think demacia hates magic sorcerer's, but the light and true divinity of the gods/aspects are not magic.
Similar to how Christianity would separate miracles and sorcery.

I think Demacians hate magic in the hands of mortals who can be corrupted by its power(the reason for the rune wars)...but they are okay with The "Divine" magic (the blade falling from the sky) which chose kayle (and morgana) to protect the lands of demacia (from the raiders as mentioned in the story and then in battles to come)....I'm just saying that they might excuse the actions(magic) of kayle as an act of god

Kayle always was the bad one though... In their old lore Kayle who was the oldest sister of a family of 7 sisters became a tyrant and when Morgana the youngest sister tried to oppose her corrupted ideals of justice the got her wings cutted and she was kicked out of the heavens...
Morgan's old quote "not all angles are good" is actually referring to Kayle becoming a tyrant...
So I don't know why so many people think that this is a change... But alright I'm glad finally people give my Goth girl some love, she deserves it

are you familiar with Diablo lore? they have an Aspect of Valor and an Aspect of Justice. Tyriael (Justice) sided with humanity due to epathy while Valor (Imperius) wants to uphold the law of heaven. i love these sort of questions.... the analogy i made earlier was tell me, do you punish this lady? she stole money. to feed her family. do you punish her or not? that's pretty much the question between morganna and kayle.

@John Saf as an example i did on another comment, this has been a question of justice and empathy. one is unrelenting and the other is flexible.
on paper, the second one is better. but in actuality... lets use an example: stealing is against the law. but if the perpetrator stole to feed her starving family, Morganna would set her free while Kayle would execute her.
i believe in second chances as well BUT, what about the victim of the thievery?
@John Saf you pretty much missed the point. not all charity organizations have omnipotent reach, first of all but that's not the concept i'm putting out there.
and the second statement... any victim of a crime is a victim. be he/she a tycoon or a farmer. if they have anything stolen from them, justice is justice.
Remember Petraside the metal used in Demacia Absorbs magic thats why Garen sword glows golden, maybe it absorbed so much of Kayle's power when she was around that it has become a semi-light sword. Thats what explains the Garen interaction... maybe? ... lol
On Garen's ult being a call to the aspect of justice - that would explain why it does more damage to the "villain" in Garen's passive
I think that neither Keyle or Morgana are exactly good.
Both of them are trying to achive good for evryone when both of them miserably fail.
Morgana would just forgive evryone not dispening justice
while keale would go on a rightous genocide leavimg only those alive who never even breathed in order to ateal air from the others wchich would be a crime
One thing for sure is the real sense o justice was split apart
The way the story is explained, Morgana did punish people, just not people who have a chance to be forgiven.
Morgana still passes punishment to those who deserve it, but she sees the reason why you did it. Morgana has compassion, something Kayle doesn't have, and uses that to see how heavy her punishment will be.

I am really excited about these two. I love the theme of Divinity and Humanity, Order and Chaos, Logic and Emotion. These are themes you can find in every generation of literature, and im glad its making its way into one of my favorite worlds. From what I've seen, Riots developers have done a great job of depicting these two 'subtle extremes' through Kayle and Morgana.
The part where the sisters saw their father die kinda brought a tear in my eye.

this story need a backslash caused by Morgana leniency that would push kayle to be less forgiving. like morgana save someone that would commit a genocide or something. this story more less point kayle as the evil one.

I think that's the point. Kayle might look evil but she basically birthed a kingdom and saved thousands. The point can be made of Morgana being irresponsible for just festering in her anger tho

Romeo Barnes oh yeah I agree but still, looking at the lore of LoL Demacia and Noxus are completely opposite of each other one tries to keep order and is succeeding at it for the most part and the other is a war based society that can't seem to keep a leader without people like Leblanc manipulating them which is the whole reason why there are three people in charge of Noxus in the first place.
I love how time and time again Riot is able to tie in really old facts with new stories and make them make sense. They did the same thing with Vlad’s claws. I’m sure they had no idea what they were doing with those claws (or at least not this), but they made it work. Amazing.

Same with Morgana, as much as I love seeing a spinning dress with a torso on top of it. It's nice to see her new animations and detail.

Morgana looks like a bad person at first, but Kayle is too extreme with her rules. She is in my opinion the bad one.
Since she is still hurt and shares suffering and flaws of humanity, which she sees as perfection (classic perfection in little imperfection view) alltogether, she does look more sinister.
Both of them seem wrong, it's just Kayle is the more clearly wrong here. Neither of them have a way that would work by itself. Morgana almost seems ruled by emotions, while Kayle is swearing off emotion for "justice".
Sure have compassion to criminals, just let those killer and rapists out. Morgana is still the bad one here. Kayle is justice and justice is blind. Does. It matter if your family is going to die if you steal from S.o you will be punished.

@@ninjadejedi Morgana let in only those in whom she saw light. She let the ones who did it out of emotions and regret what they did deeply. She didn't let literally anyone in. She didn't let in criminals, rapists and killers. She has an understanding of human inperfection and that humanity isn't perfect! If someone would bully you and you would defend yourself, but by accident you would kill that person, Morgana would understand what you were going through at that moment, but Kayle would burn you to ashes.

I feel like this is somewhat poor. They’ve made Kayle too much of a fanatic for her cause and Morgana too little of one for hers. It is WAY too easy to pick a side in this conflict.

i miss my highschool days when after classes me and my buds would play this in an internet cafe in 5 v 5 against each other or against an opposing group of friends. We played both LoL and Dota 1&2.
